Hilton Garden Inn is a good place to stay, especially if you want to explore downtown and riverfront. Wenna is friendly and accommodating

Extremely friendly front desk staff. It was a pleasure interacting with them every time. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Great location in the East Village, Central Library, and the free downtown train is just down the street. Highly recommended.

Phenomenal experience with the staff at this establishment. Melody is the best customer service agent that I have ever dealt with. It was my first ever time in Calgary and she and her colleagues answered a series of questions, and made me feel extremely welcome. They were also very knowledgeable about the city; Melody was able to give me several meaningful recommendations.

6 stars - will definitely stay here next time I’m in Calgary.

Close to everything! The staff was very nice. The hotel seemed safe and quiet even though it seemed to be pretty full. The breakfast at the restaurant was delicious.

The staff, Alex and Kelly, were most helpful at first. I was stranded and needed to charge my phone. They gave me a chair and electricity outlet and allowed me to contact my better half. Unfortunately, after a few minutes they ‘changed their minds’ and informed me the chair and outlet I was utilizing were reserved for hotel guests only. So in this adjustment cancelling out their good samaritan gesture. Disappointing and rude. It would appear that one’s priority is dollar based, and human to human favour is not part of the Hilton’s mandate. Disappointed, and with hurt feelings, I humbly exited the premises.

The hotel room was well appointed and looked brand new. I worked in the room for a few hours and it is a very comfortable room. Lots of lights and easy to get onto the internet. Good water pressure in shower. Very clean. I was in the hotel ball room or the room most of the time. Not too sure about the neighbourhood but it worked well for our group.

The hotel's room is new and clean, and it is also not too far from downtown. However the service needs to be improved since I felt very unprofessional.

The hotel is extremely clean, amazing service and modern looking inside.
The only con that is out of the hotels hands is the homeless shelter nearby, so we witnessed a lot of homeless, which made us a bit nervous and quite a lot of drug use outside the hotel….

It feels like it is in the rough area of town.downtown Calgary has become somewhat of a slum. Prices are going up and quality is going down. Rooms maybe clean, but not being able to enter from both entrances even with a room key is not safe. Room office chair doesn't adjust and extremely uncomfortable, bathroom has no fan which makes sense for the paint peeling, and above the bed has water damage.

Got the taxi from the airport a 29 min ride with no traffic, Uber is everywhere so no issues getting in. Located on the eastern side of down town roughly 0.5 km from the Calgary tower walking in is pretty simple. The hotel is nice on the inside with a sports bar and all the mod cons you would expect. Managed to bag a room upgrade due to my status which was welcome. The room was huge with a great view being a corner suite. Bed was comfortable. And the facilities were in good working order. Pleasently surprised by branded soaps. Will definitely come back

The hotel is okay, staff are nice. I'd say the breakfast is a good deal since you actually order it and it's included.

People talk about the area, personally I didn't have that much of a negative experience. For sure, there are some individuals, but I think the hotel really did some work to make it better. Staying downtown was convenient for me to attend to my business.

The room was clean, maybe even too much, because the smell of bleach was very noticeable. Another thing I didn't like was how cold the floor was, they also don't provide sleepers.

Overall, would recommend if you have a considerable discount.

Very good downtown HGI. Easy to park underground. Friendly helpful staff. Close walking distance to bars and restaurants. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed for one night while in Calgary for a work event. They let me check in a tiny bit early which I appreciated. I got the king room with the big windows facing the river and it was amazing watching the sunrise in the morning. Room was modern and clean. I used the pool and hot tub in the morning and they were also great. Hot tub maybe could have been a bit warmer. I like they had extra security features on the inside of the doors and phones in the hallways (I had an issue with my room key so was nice I could call down). The area surrounding the hotel has some interesting people hanging around but this could be in any city. Close by access to the river valley for walking, grocery store, public transit and cute little coffee shops and restaurants.

Not the greatest!
My room was pretty beat up, lots of damage to the furniture. TV didn't work very good. No bathroom fan. Battery was almost dead in the thermostat. You can't get anything to eat from the "on-site restaurant" from 1pm to 5pm.what the hell? !? !? Very confusing on where to park. Elevators where a pain to use, but not much they can do about it. Staff was friendly and helpful, that was the only good part of my stay.

I have stayed here more then a few times and highly recommend this Hotel. Beautifully maintained, exceptionally clean and a great location. The staff is the BEST! EVERYONE who works there, from Management, Front Desk, Housekeeping, and even the maintenance guy (who almost always has treats in his pocket for the special 4 legged guests) is so nice! The friendly personalities, professionalism and proficiency makes checking in a breeze! They really go above and beyond for their guests. The King Corner Suite is the room I usually stay in. Very clean and the most comfortable beds. I have the best sleeps when I stay here! Their pool/spa area is beautiful. The pool is salt water and perfect temp. The gym is 24 hr access and has everything you can ask for. Laundry facilities are also available 24hrs. The Restaurant has amazing food as well! Feels like a little holiday/treat every time! 5/5 Hands down!

The most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in. The hot tub jets are broken. The breakfast was better in a 3* (I felt like they served day old sausages from the day before and the coffee wasn’t drinkable). After complaining on multiple occasions, they sent maintenance and housekeeping staff to apologize. No, it’s the managements fault!
Our shower didn’t work properly either!
The area is horrendous with the amount of homeless people (my husband almost got mugged) and there’s a tent city two blocks away so do not walk.
I was a travel agent for 10 years and a Hilton rewards member. This is the WORST attitude and service I have EVER experienced at a Hilton. I would Not Recommend anyone stay here, bring their family, or come for a conference (which is what we did)

Room was normal and location average.
I strongly advise against staying because the deposit reserved on your credit card is not released immediately. I have been waiting for more than 14 days for a refund and no help despite many apologies and promises.

I saw the reaction of Hilton Gardens Inn on my post. Nice standard reaction, but I am in contact with the helpdesk of Gardens Inn fot 14 days and they don’t help me with it.

If I can, I would give it zero stars. In the covid time, the room is not clean. Fridge stink, dirty room, many technical issues. The maintenance guy was in our room for 45 minutes trying to fix the washroom door. The excuse we received, there is no other room available with two beds.

The entire evening was gone sitting in our room and watching the guy fix the room. Cancelled our dinner reservations and ruined our plan to see Calgary downtown before leaving.

I did not expect this quality from Hilton. I expect my money back after wasting 3 hours fixing room issues.

Great location but that’s about it. We stayed as a family and our experience was far away from good. Bedding was stained, broken blinds and dust everywhere. Front desk attendant was rude and unprofessional. As a pursing who works in hospitality myself I felt like my business wasn’t welcomed and my feedback wasn’t taken into condition

Great hotel, location is awesome lots of parking around. Clean rooms well equipped shower is great lots of hot water.grocery store nearby for anything you want. I would stay there again.

Generally loud and awful for sleeping, paper thin walls, the train tracks a block away are loud.i would highly suggest staying in a different hotel and neighborhood altogether

Zimmer war echt toll. Der Standort super: man konnte runter zum Fluss laufen, hatte die Bahn in der Nähe, großen öffentlichen Parkplatz gegenüber. Restaurants waren zu Fuß zu erreichen.
Das Personal war sehr nett. Was unbequem war, war die Tatsache, dass der Nebeneingang am Kurzzeit-Parkplatz zum Einchecken zu war. Somit musste man das Gepäck um das Haus herum rein und zum Aufzug schleppen.

Great place to stay. Clean rooms and staff is friendly. There are alot of homeless everywhere outside but at no fault to the hotel, the city seems to be full of them. The parking here could be an issue if the paid underground garage is full. Fortunate for me it was the weekend and I parked a block away on the street for free.

Easy and pleasant check in. Comfortable rooms. Amazing location. Quick access to the great downtown restaurants but also the Saddledome. I was pleasantly surprised to discover a tim hortons 20 steps away as well as a superstore 1 block away! What a perfectly convenient location.

Great location especially if your in Calgary for the down town area. They are pet friendly which is huge and the employees are great. The food is tasty too.

Worst check in I have ever had! With their room rates, I had expected a little bit more especially when it comes to service but no I do not recommend this hotel.
I booked through Expedia but upon checking in I stated that there was changes in the number of occupants as there was already 3 adults and two kids, I was told right away that we would need to get another room. (It seems to be a hard sell) from previous experiences, I know that you can just pay for an extra bed or charge for the extra person or have the room upgraded but the guy (which I find very unwelcoming) said that it was with regards to their fire safety code that they are following, that per room can only be allowed max. Of four regardless if they are kids or adults. (Which I think should also be mentioned when you book online) They didn't do anything to help us with our situation, we were there for more than an hour with our kids waiting in the car at the same time. They never offered their other hotel if I hadn't ask which after an hour of waiting I don't feel like comfortable staying in anymore. Unfortunately, we have to use the 1 night that we paid for so as not to waste our money but never will I book with this chain of hotels ever again. Definitely, not a good experience.
I usually don't share negative experiences but with a hotel like this like first impressions lasts esp. When it comes to customer service and with hotels, more than their facilities, it is their service that they are selling.

Beautiful hotel, enjoyed both breakfast and dinner at the hotel's restaurant. Parking is a bit of a challenge their underground parking gets filled up so fast but there's a public parking across the road.

OK. I have been waiting to do this.we just checked out. I am disappointed. 2 nights we were kept up with loud talking in the room next to us, people running up and down the halls and drinking, cackling and slamming doors. You can hear everything your neighbours do. It's not quiet. The bathroom doors are sliding barn style doors so you can peak in from the outside.there's no lock either and the tap on the tub.works.sometimes.the staff were nice, location is good but the lobby is so cold because the heat comes from the vents on the ceiling.they are at least 20 feet high. Pack warm and break noise canceling headphones

The bedsheets had not been replaced from the previous stay. They were dirty and had hair on them. When we complained the receptionist said that they were sorry however they were unable to do anything about it. It was so disappointing and I never expected this from a Hilton Hotel

Great experience in the breakfast, Roy and Dan was great! Bad experience in front desk with Alison. She was rude to us! The guy next to her noticed that too. Room was good. Cleaned.

When i booked my hotel i asked if there was a ground floor room and they said yes. Not knowing the person i talked to was miles away (call center) and even proceeded to bs me with im gonna give you the cheapest room speech. Arrived in the evening and found out we were in the 3rd floor, which can be stressful for my rescue dog. There was no ground floor room at all. I was also not told about other fees. When i got there they did offer me to cancel with no cancelation charges. The employees there were so nice we just decided to stay. Just make sure you are talking to the front desk and not call center.

A typical Hilton facility. No negativve experiences. Prices are higher than one might expect for the furnishings but it is in a good location. Food was fine, liked the power salad from the bar food menu best.

Originally made this reservation to go to the Flames game on New Years Eve, however, due to covid the game was canceled prior to the date. We still decided to make the trip and we're extremely glad we did. We booked the king corner room which was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Definitely plan on returning to this hotel because it is affordable, as well as, it is a short walk to the Cowboys Casino and/or Scotiabank Saddledome.

Follow up to last review. Manager reached out - I was very satisfied by the customer service. Refreshing.

Westjet put us up there for two nights when we missed our flight due to airport issues. We arrived at 330 am and were greets so nicely. The clerk was fantastic, room was excellent with a great view. Great location too!

This hotel is average but expected more. Service communication is lacking as we called asking for room service and were told our menu was in our room. We searched our room and called back saying we couldn’t locate the menu, only for them to notify us they don’t have room service? Confusing but okay. My last stay was above and beyond, service was amazing but this time was lacking. Underground is absurd $25 a night? The last time I stayed in this hotel it was $15 a night. I suggest taking business elsewhere as there is better customer service and cheaper underground parking from competitors around.

Friendly staff, comfortable modern rooms, great location, and close to great amenities. My only improvement points would be better and more consistent water pressure on higher floors, and a good coffee option inside the hotel would be lovely.

Big, nice, modern and clean room. Friendly staff, the only issue is AC, the wind from AC is too strong but you can only keep it or turn off it, no option for a smaller wind so when the AC is on it gets really jot

My second time here. As usual, big room. Clean. Staff helpful. Neighborhood with homeless. I didn't feel threatens at anytime.

We are in a Hilton, it's a nice hotel overall, well designed and clean.
At the desk or at the breakfast, you can meet employees who like their job, but also few who don't. The breakfast is ok, we'll appreciate the fruit salad, pastries and different bread, when there's left.but the hot buffet is always the same and miss some variety and freshness, not the Hilton standard.
Rooms are big, comfy and practical.nice view if you're lucky. I'll recommend having a drink at the 13th floor terrace to end your day.

Clean rooms, great service. Parking was all taken when we arrived and the metered lot across from the hotel was only a couple of dollars for the night. Food is wonderful. Great atmosphere.

Perfect location and excellent quality and standard. New built and very modern and clean from the inside. The rooms are spacious and have all that is required according to a 3 star hotel standard. It is what I expect from Hilton to provide. The train service next to the hotel makes commute very easy for public transit users. The area is quite and perfect for night sleep. The river front and garden opp the hotel is amazing for an evening walk. Phil and Sebastian at Simon building very near, and perfect for a great cup of coffee and some sandwiches. I was on a business trip and teh stay was amazing.

The staff were friendly and accommodating especially at the bar. The room was nice, clean and the heat/air unit was fairly quiet. The breakfast was $18 which would have been fine as the food all tasted good but it was a buffet and only one of four warmers was functioning and still cool enough to touch any part of. It was a Shane that the waffles weren't hot and crispy as they had a good flavour!

Cheaply built building. Very noisy I could hear every noise our neighbours made including their alarm and “night time activities” as well as every conversation in the hall ways and every elevator ding. The underground parking was unavailable and the room had brown water stains on the ceiling. Having recently stayed at a near by hotel to this one I can tell you there’s better options in the neighbourhood. Overall felt like a cheap motel.

Likely the worst hotel experience I have had in Calgary. Can you say no hot water, ctrains, broken coffee machine, poor access to ug parking, and a response from hotel with completing numerous surveys to get a brush off reply. Conrad is jumping in his grave over this hotel. Yikes!

The bathroom has dirty yellow water on the ceiling as i was showering. My husband had to clean it himself. There was only 1 cup in the coffee table but there were 2 of us. The bed was scratchy and uncomfortable. The window was dirty outside and dusty. I didn’t mind the homeless people around since they were not disruptive nor act like they were on drugs or sketchy. They just were trying to survive. I never heard a homeless person yell outside of the hotel. Just numerous cars being very very loud. For the cost, the breakfast isn’t even included. Which is fine but most hotels I have been to have always include breakfast. I understand covid and short staffed. So I didn’t tell the staff my disappointment. I also didn’t want to have to deal with it. These things are very basic but the hotel has cut too many corners. For a 3 star hotel, it isn’t very good. Not worth the money. Will not stay again.

Room was nice, bed was comfy but thats where it stops. Charge you extra for breakfast, don't give you parking options, late check in so you don't even get a full day for the price you pay. Overall mmhhh

Very clean, comfortable and a great view. They have under ground parking for an extra $15. The room was very luxurious, I went home and ordered the pillows because they were so comfy. Definitely recommend.

Centrally located and close to City Hall C-train station. Amenities were above average with Covid protocols in place. The fitness center is well equipped and the pool is clean and pleasant. Great hot tub! Very satisfied with our stay.

Great place to stay. Our room was on the 13th floor with a nice view of downtown Calgary. Staff was nice, the hotel very clean. I had a veggie burger that was very good. My husband had a beef burger that was a little burnt, opps. We would consider staying there again if back in Calgary.

Stayed there for two nights, the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful from the check-in to the check-out process. The hotel is very very clean. The room door was sealed with a sticker to show it had been sanitized and that no one had gone in prior to my arrival. The room was very clean, the same as the bathroom. I was very impressed! During my stay, I upgraded to premium internet for one day since I needed to write a 3 hours exam live and the upgrade was well worth it. The wifi was fast and reliable. The standard wifi was also great! Never lost connection with either. I also would like to give a shoutout to the Filipino gentleman working the breakfast bar on Saturday morning, I believe his name was Roy? He was so friendly and kind. He really made my morning!

We stayed here for one night before heading to Banff to camp. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and well-maintained. The location is great for downtown Calgary and you can walk to restaurants.

Great location. This is actually collected with the Homewood Suites. In any case, the location, staff, amenities, and rooms were great. The pool was private and relaxing. With Covid, they limit the number of people in the pool.

Great place to stop. Enjoy walking around the town. Everything that you need is within walking distance. The front desk was extremely helpful. The rooms seemed fairly new, rain showers. REALLY NICE for the price. Very comfortable place to stay.

I had fell off of a scooter ride so I needed a first aid and I asked the front desk if they had any and he said “oh not much” without even checking the first aid box. For me it seemed like the employees were aware that they don't have the proper first aid kit and I was really surprised because inside the first take it there was cockroaches. I found them and told the worker what i saw and had to walk away from it. I went upstairs grab my car keys and had to go find pharmacy at 2 AM in the morning. The fact that employees were aware that first aid was basically empty and the way the kit was stored and had cockroaches inside the kit is unacceptable and very disappointing.the hotel is owned by Hilton which was one of my favourite hotel choices when I travel.

The staff here was so accommodating and the rooms were just great. This was a perfect hotel choice for me and my family!

Wonderful, I travel to take my baby dog for radiation at VCA and the Colombian Girl at front desk was fantastic, Incredible professional, compassionate and really nice, due to the service it should be upgraded to a 4 star hotel, very clean, new, and for the price is something to be considered. If I get there I will stay here. Thank YOU

Building is co-shared with a Hilton garden inn with convenience of sharing a restaurant and bar but with parking at $38 per day be for-warned.
Nice and clean hotel conveniently located and next to the beautiful waterfront trails for walking and jogging that does require walking through a pretty tough homeless area.

Room is clean and comfy. However,

-front staffs at the front desk seemed to be grumpy/almost rude with multiple encounter.
-There is no free parking unless you pay $25/day valet parking or paid parking across the hotel.
-no complimentary breakfast

Mixed up deposit charges, receptionist in alternate hotel reception was extremely rude in directing me to the “proper” hotel. No one was forthcoming with parking information, winded up paying for street parking. Was not a welcoming or hospitable experience. Nice clean rooms though. Housekeeping doesn’t understand the point of a fridge though since they throw things out without any regard to the guest staying there.

Relatively short distance from the airport to the hotel. Navigating to and from the airport is pretty easy as well. Great accommodations!

My go to place in Calgary. My whole team stays at this location whenever we are there for work. I would use this for leisure as well.

Nice hotel, relatively new and rooms are standard. The location is nice as the hotel is right next to the Calgary public library. The staff were friendly and the one meal I ordered from the kitchen was great. They have drink socials and a friendly crowd.

Stayed here in the first 2 nights of our holiday.
Great location, about $40 from the airport.
The reception staff were friendly and check in was efficient although we weren't told you needed to use your room key for the elevator so we struggled.
The room was nice and big with a huge bed and TV. I was disappointed our room didn't have a bath.
The website says spa, steam room and sauna but it doesn't. It has a pool and a whirlpool which was very mellow although warm enough this area was very outdated.
We payed over $100 per night so we expected breakfast to be included and it wasn't which was disappointing although looking at the other reviews we weren't missing out on much.

Close to downtown and the CTrain. Walking distance to stampede grounds and casino. Bar and restaurant in hotel.

Delightful staff here. All check in was smooth. We wanted to upgrade our room and they were accommodating.
There was a bit of construction in the area but still walkable to restaurants and bars.

Beds are comfy, rooms are quiet and clean. Service was lacking a bit at times at the front desk and in the restaurant. Food was ok but nothing special.

A few issues which were resolved by the fabulous Stephanie, amazing Receptionist. Some of the staff did not get the expectations world travellers have, leading to disappointing responses to issues we raised. The room was good, large clean and comfy but I'd get breakfast elsewhere as it's not amazing and feels disorganized at times. Not at the usual Hilton standards. We had room service and that was good. If Managers can get onto the details such as breakfast being a bit smoother and a more generous approach such as smoked salmon or more fruits and more slick and consistent service, it could be an excellent hotel.

The problem with parking spaces with hotels in downtown Calgary is always a common issue. However, the valet parking attendant was so demanding and rude to us when we, as a group hotel guests pulled our 15-seat guest van to unload the guests at the valet parking zone adjacent to the side door entrance to the hotel, he was yelling at us demanding us to leave right away despite we mentioned about unloading the guests for a quick minute. That wasn’t a pleasant experience for the driver guide and the hotel guests who returned to the hotel after their business activities for a refresh prior to going out for a night and dinner.

We won’t recommend the guests to return to this Hilton Garden Inn downtown Calgary. There are better hotels to choose from in the neighbourhood.

Room was nice and comfortable. Food and service at the restaurant was terrible for the price; the food they provided for the conference, however, was fairly good.
