Wifi never worked for me. The fridge in the room was loud. TV was big screen, which was nice, but i did not watch it. It is close to train tracks, so it was loud outside.

I would never recommend staying here, my room is above the "conference room" and its been a party in the conference room all evening and now into the night. Called the front desk to ask when it will be over as it is almost 11: 00pm and no one was helpful. I was never informed prior to check in that I would be sleeping above a rave when I have to be up at 6: 00AM. NOT the place to stay if you want a peaceful and good sleep when you have to work the next day. A heads up would have been appreciated as I would have just booked at another hotel.

I would recommend staying at another hotel where customer service is a priority.

At almost midnight, the room next door not only played music and had a party, but also screamed and danced. I have informed the front desk several times, but they have no intention of dealing with it. Bad review, the party is still going on in the room next door.

Highly recommend! Great location with two amazing restaurants: Ricky's and Monsoon. The room was clean, quiet, and the giant TV was a treat. Having a microwave and fridge was a bonus. The staff was incredibly kind, making me feel welcomed throughout our stay. Can't wait to return!

We were exhibitors at a conference nearby. The staff treated us well. The room was tidy and fully appointed, and affordable. The location is good with plenty of restaurants around. The only proviso is the traffic on Gateway Blvd. It goes at 60+ kph, 5 lanes northbound, and another 4 lanes southbound separated by a city block. There are few gaps in the evening traffic, and no crosswalks that I could see. No controlled intersections. Great hotel, though.

Hotel hosts excessive parties which blast music through 3+ floors and half the hotel. Dozens of people had to move rooms at 10: 30pm despite quiet time being 10pm clearly posted everywhere on the walls of the building.

The night manager also ignored phone calls while sitting in her office. Verified by calling her while watching her ignore the phone in her office.

Worst of all, somebody with a master key attempted entry into the room in the early morning despite having a do not disturb slip on the doorknob.

Since this hotel is right next to railway tracks, be ready to endure constant annoying trains crossings literally every half hr 24/7 you can feel your room vibrating.

Rooms were ready immediately when our group arrived. Very clean, temperature control worked to keep room at comfortable temperature. Nice quiet sleep with no loud disturbances.

I was booking a room at this inn when I was travel in Edmonton, the living experience was pretty good. But today (around 9am) I just called the front desk want to double check my payment. I have been charged extra $ 50 for that day, and I loss my receipt for that night. I called the inn and wish they can sent me an receipt again. But the front desk guy said he can not find the reservation with my name and pretty rush to hang up the phone. I don’t understand why their system can not find my reservation after 2 weeks. I told the guy I loss the receipt already, but he ask me to find the receipt first, then call them back. I am really unhappy with this phone call experience. They need to improve their customer service skill!

It’s ok, we had the suite with the big green generators right outside our window which made the room look dark and dingy, the carpet is pretty stained, for some reason we got the handicap suite lol so we could only take showers, the shower curtain did nothing to stop water from getting out so the whole bathroom got wet, we used the majority of our towels just to mop it up. We woke up to the janitor cleaning the generators outside our window.

As a silver member I will never stay at this hotel again. Staff was miscommunicative and uncooperative. The room was unclean, and the staff didn't even have the courtesy to inform me of the train. There were kids running up and down the halls and small dogs barking continuously. I paid upgraded internet and received nothing. I travel on a regular basis for business purposes and will be informing my employer to never book this hotel in the future.

The service is ok, but the bath towel was not that clean. And the hair dryer was soo loud, almost going to lose my hearing! I took the video as well. Not really recommend this place. The Delta right cross the street is lot nicer!

Your front desk clerk on Thursday June 2022 left my 2 daughters and I stranded when room was booked and paid for in advance. She would not accept a cash deposit and we were left stranded with no place to stay in an unfamiliar city. We travel alot and have never had an issue paying a cash date deposit before EVER. My family and I wi never stay at another holiday Inn again. Just aweful customer service

Room was good, it was clean. The food and service at Rickys was awesome! The hotel was very busy with teenagers, there were tournaments going on. And only 1 out of 3 elevators were working. VERY inconvenient! We'd wait 2 sometimes 3 rounds before more people could fit on the elevator. At one point 15 people came out on the main floor! We were told there were no stairs from the main floor to the first floor. Check out was good. Check in wasn't fantastic. I had booked 2 rooms and the gentleman insisted there was only 1 room under my name and if I had a problem with it I'd have to contact Expedia. Right aways defensive. Do hotels not like it if you book on Expedia? And after every sentence he'd say "thank you kindly". It was excessive and not said in a very thankful way. Just a habit.

Rooms are fine. Stayed on 5th floor near elevator. Elevator bell rings on 5th floor no matter where it stops. Can hear it from nearby rooms. Only one elevator was working when we were there. Hotel was so busy with events they didn't have enough parking spots for patrons staying at the hotel. No late check out.

The customer service at this Holiday Inn is outstanding, starting at the front desk to housekeeping as well as the In house restaurant.
5 stars to Monsoon restaurant, the vibe/service/food&drink is purely magical.

Don't ask for an extra blanket, they give you a 7 foot long sheet of sandpaper (whoever bought these for Holiday Inn should be forced to sleep under one, just once!). Rugs are stained excessively in rooms, curtains are disgusting - feel like they are coated in grease. The breakfast service is mediocre, hotel voucher means you get slow, unpleasant service. Parking is a stressful nightmare, there are not enough parking spots at nighttime for the number of guests, several people had to go across the street. Rooms are decent, but showing signs of wear and need a refresh. Paper thin walls allow a lot of road noise, especially loud exhaust sounds. Not very impressed overall, but it is central and easy to access. I wouldn't stay here again.

Nice room however small for a 2 queen bed bedroom. Staff were not clear in communicating to each other or relaying what was requested. Parking was sparse and I had to walk a long way to the entrance. A nice stay however.

We stayed at the hotel for our meeting a few weeks ago. Great stay! Rooms were clean. The staff were friendly and professional, Gaman made the check-in process efficient. Monsoon Bar Bistro was awesome, their bartender Malo made amazing cocktails, nice to converse with staff in French. Would definitely stay here again.

When I needed a place to stay, a home away from home, there was a few things I looked for. Cleanliness, comfort, location, with the amenities I needed. This place had exactly what I needed. Gaman, at the front desk, has always greated me by my name and been very helpful with making my stay as comfortable as possible.

I was in town for business and will book here again. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was available to answer questions and take care of anything. The parking was easy and lots of it. Ricky's available in the hotel is awesome. Hotel also have an upscale Bar and Bistro called Monsoon- Just amazing cocktails and food.
Great hotel - I have everything I needed for my two day stay.

Typically I would write these but I feel scammed and not very happy with level of service I received. On Aug 20th they gave a room reserved and when arrived I was advised first come serve. I had frantically look for another hotel. We were on th road for 8 hours with 2 toddlers upon arrival to check in to a room that was reserved wellnin advance was given away. The respond I got was too bad so sad fist first serve. I have drive to another city (Leduc) to get a hotel.

Not only they gave away my room but they had audacity to charge me for services not rendered. This is after Andrew comfirming no cancellation charge. Service manager who didn't help was named Andrew. I can't believe this gentleman is in charge of customer service. Never have I been treated this badly by any service industry.

I travel tons and I will definitely avoid this location and definitely won't recommend it

Usually always have good experience with Holiday inn however this time was shockingly terrible. I booked room with 2 queen beds a week or two ago. This was for a family trip with my wife and 2 toddlers. We arrived on the evening of Aug 20 2021 around 10pm. We were on the road for 8 hours. Upon arrival when we went to check in we were advised the room we booked was given away and it is no longer available. I asked to speak to manager. The manager was not very pleasant to deal with. He advised me that it does not matter what you book. Holiday inn policy is first come first serve. I was left with out accommodations and no other hotels had rooms available. It took me 2 hours to Find a room with and had to drive to Leduc. We made it to another Hotel at 1am.

I am very disappointed and expected better service from Holiday inn.

Staff is so friendly and polite. New restaurant, Monsoon Bar, in the hotel is stunning. The decor is upscale, the wine and whisky list is extensive, and the food is delicious and well presented. Good to see modern and fresh dining place in the hotel. Overall a very good hotel, clean and comfortable. Rooms are spacious and we had an excellent sleep

Ricky the lady in short blonde hair was super rude! Had a horrible Energy from her from the beginning. She refused to give us salt and pepper from the grinders and gave us bad attitude. Hope nobody goes through the same experience. Very sad as other servers were so nice.

Booked a room for family here online through Hotwire. I paid fully for the room online. They charged my credit card the deposit. Later the deposit was refunded and they charged my card for the full room rate even though I had paid for it online. When I called them to clarify this. The girl was clueless and said they accidentally charged your card and didn’t transfer over the payment from Hotwire. This is not
My fault nor should I be responsible for this. They said they will pass it along to the manager and get me refunded. Been a week
Now still no refund. Stay away from

Quarantined here for 2 weeks because it's one of the very few hotels that's approved by the government of Nunavut.

The room was small had two queen beds, no couch, no sink, no stove, mini fridge froze all my food, no extra space to do anything like stretching or working out. The window didn't open. The train goes by 30ft away multiple times throughout the night and shakes the bed (on the other side of the building you get to listen to the traffic instead which is supposed is better). The rooms are old, very dusty, the carpet is filled with questionable stains. I found enough hair on the mattress to make a wig (not my hair).

You can go outside for 20 minutes at a time for fresh air, except there's no fresh air because you're restricted to a small area and everyone is smoking. There are cigaret buds everywhere, no one cleans it up.

The food comes from Ricki's bar and grill with a modified menu. It's the unhealthiest, grossest food I've seen.

The hotel staff is nice. But they're clueless. When the AC broke in the room they were useless. They were also very inadequate at getting transportation for the airport.

In a nutshell, this place is a nightmare and it blows my mind that the Nunavut government judged it to be appropriate for quarantine.

This hotel is one of the isolation hubs for travellers to Nunavut during the pandemic. It's not the Ritz-Carlton, but the staff here were pretty accommodating given the circumstances.

Great location on Southside, it is a shame that the English Pud was a victim of COVID-19 and shut its doors. Hopefully someone reopens it when life goes back to normal. Hotel rooms are clean, not bad value for you money.

Poor cleaning, coffee machine was not working, no complementary breakfast, moving trains all night, cup of coffee at lobby is not free if cost too bad. Thanks anyway it was first time in Canada.

Really enjoyed this Hotel - Usually stay at the HI Express in Sherwood Park, but this place is a lot nicer.and the pub downstairs has Guinness on tap. Food wasn't bad but a little pricey.

I had only 2 pieces of tissue papers in the tissue box. Very disappointed. They shouldn't leave used tissue paper boxes for new customers to use. (Specially in this pandemic time). That green color chair has to be vacuumed and cleaned or removed from the room. It doesn't smell good.
Bed is very good. Front desk staff are very helpful and friendly. Specially those Filipino girls are very helpful and friendly and always welcome smile.
Overall hotel looks very clean.

Security officers are loud, they have loud radios that squeal regularly by my door, they have the volume turned up to hear the radio, which I hear clearly in my room. A 4 security guard convention by my door is not how hospitality service workers are to be recieved. SEEN AND NOT HEARD. And with this being the 21st century, get an ear piece for your radio.

Busy main drag at the front of the hotel and active train tracks out back, not a quiet place to rest with a 2 week mandatory quarantine prior to heading up north.

As for the reply from the manager, nothing has changed. I have asked security repeatedly to keep it down, to no avail.

Planning a future trip to Edmonton and was just reminded of a complaint I submitted to the management of this Holiday back in Sep 2018 that I never got a response to. Leaving an overdue 1Star review. Copy of my complaint I submitted below:

Hello IHG Service, My name is Jasmine ###### and my IHG Spire Member # is ############. I am here at
the Holiday Inn in 4485 Gateway Blvd NW, Edmonton, AB T6H 5C3, and I am checking out today 9/29. I
am submitting a complaint regarding the female employee who worked the front desk the early
morning of 09/29 around 2am. Around 2am I was awoken to the sound of loud boisterous chatter in the
hallway. I thought nothing of it and assumed whoever they are will enter their rooms and quiet down,
but they did not quiet down and continued going in and out of their rooms making very loud noises for
about 20 minutes. At this point I got frustrated and opened my door to see who they are; they were
quests staying in rooms 407 and 409 while my room was 412. A couple of the guests noticed me looking
out. I had hope that by noticing me they would realize guests are being awaken by the noises and that
they would stop; but they didn’t. A minute after I closed my door then went to bed I heard a loud smash
on my door. When I went to investigate I saw that a light bulb had been thrown at my door smashing
into pieces! I immediately called the front desk and when I tried to explain what was going on the front
desk female staff in a dismissive tone cut me off before I could even tell what happened then told me
she’s coming upstairs. Came upstairs she did alright but when I pointed out the shattered glasses in
front of my door and the rooms of the rowdy guests, how she handled the situation frustrated and
infuriated me the most. All she did was knock on their doors and tell them to “keep it down”! Not one
word and question was relayed to them about who threw that bulb, what the consequences are for
harassing guests, and the penalty is for destroying hotel equipments! She then went back downstairs,
and at this point I thought those rowdy guests would quiet down but in about 10 minutes after the
female staff left I heard another loud bang at my door but this time it appeared they threw something
that bounced off and continued down the hall. The female staff came upstairs after a while with a
broom and half-heartedly swept the big glass pieces then placed a “Watch Your Step” paper on the floor. This experience has been truly unacceptable and I demand that staff’s conduct be investigated! I
was harassed and made to feel my safety was in jeopardy yet that staff treated those rowdy,
disrespectful, and violent guests with kid-gloves and basically made them feel they could harass guests
and damage hotel property and get away with it! Either she knew those guests personally and didn’t
want to exert full authority to protect the hotel’s interest or she just didn’t know how to handle a
situation like this. I demand the hotel manager and director investigate this matter. One thing I will be
most certain to do as a Spire member who travels frequently, I will never ever stay at this hotel again, I
will communicate it to my colleagues as hotel not safe to stay at, and I will be leaving scathing reviews of
this property after my departure.

First of all the hotel is located next to railway tracks & whenever a train passes by the whole building shakes.
Second, the security guards are loud at night.
Third, the hallway stink of weed at night.
And finally, the food is greasy & they mess up orders often.
Not a pleasant stay.

I wish to give them all stars but then acted like a miser and will keep only half star with me just to improve the things like room service. Otherwise everything is fine and I really appreciate the efforts by the management and the staff to keep their guests pleased by doing every bit of possible things. Overall best hospitality and since they are surrounded with good competition around (Two-three big hotels are just around the corner, at a stone's throw only) Nice staff and good food and other amenities. Nice location and easily approachable.

When the house keepers came by all they would change was the towels I was there 10 days and even asked them to change the sheets as well I was told "I dont understand "

If you dont know what change the sheets means why are you a house keeper.

My issue is that they didn't know what should be changed regularly

Worst customer experience I have ever experienced. I booked a pet friendly room over the phone prior to my trip. I traveled for 5-6 hours in the rain with my Siberian husky to get to Edmonton to find out that my $300 debit deposit for the room wasn’t all I needed as I was told over the phone. The guy and girl working the night audit shift were so unbelievably rude to me when I told them that I wasn’t told over the phone that I would need to pay a pet deposit as well for the room prior to me having stayed in it. I offered to pay in cash for the pet deposit and for the room but he said he wouldn’t except it. And when I told him I only had $300 on my debit card because I was told that’s all I would need he simply told me he didn’t care and proceeded to be rude and unprofessional. I called the manager the next morning to let her know the poor treatment I received after the miscommunication from her staff and she said that they were being strict- I have worked as a front desk agent (night audit) for years in the hospitality industry and I definitely know the difference between being rude and strict, and these employees were terrible. I honestly don’t know how they were hired, or how a manager can justify that. Anyways we ended up leaving after being turned away even though we had made a reservation.at 4am in the rain and went across town to a competitors hotel and our stay here has been wonderful. I will not stay at this holiday inn location again and I will be sure to make my friends and family aware of the extremely poor service we received. Thanks

Attended conference meeting here. Below average breakfast buffet- dried up. Hotel does not have any good vibe, sad looking staff at the meeting. Free Parking if you can find one, received very little help.

Friendly staff and quick service. Entrance is on a busy one way street on Gateway Blvd so more difficult to get to and from. Good location as it’s 10 minutes to downtown, 5 mins from Southgate Centre Mall and 15 mins to West Edm Mall. Outdoor parking available front and back of hotel. Has a Ricky’s conveniently located on one side for quick meals and Fionn MacCool’s on the other. Busy place with many business travelers and sports teams. Quiet at night and room temp good. Bar fridge but no microwave inside room.

Staff were accommodating but what I would consider key plugins for the room (Lan port etc) for my work laptop were not connected to anything and thus were useless. The wireless internet connection on the 2nd floor only provided me with 1 or 2 bars and was choppy.

Clean hotel. Really good for families. Front staff was very friendly and helpful. Swimming pool, hot tub and many other amenities at this hotel. Good experience at attached Rickys all day grill restaurant. Brunch was just amazing.

Pros: Check-in dude was nice, thanked me for being a rewards member. Bed was comfy and clean, room was as expected. Wifi and AC/Heat worked perfectly (more than can be said for some hotels), they followed specific check-in instructions as necessary.

Cons: Rewards members are not provided with breakfast. Are you serious? Loyalty members who book additional stays apparently aren't even worth a breakfast voucher. Thanks a lot, IHG.

Freight trains on the East side are noisy if you're a light sleeper. West side is Gateway Blvd, soooo either way you're gonna have a semi-noisy night. There was also someone scraping / pounding or something into the evening, and the toilet leaked and refilled itself every 30 minutes or so. Like. I've had worse, but yeah. Not impressed, considering we were there on a night of celebration.

Stayed at this hotel many, many times corporately over several years. I received a letter from them saying my credit card info was among several thousand that had been breached. The letter implied that it is extremely difficult for companies these days to protect customers information and that some of their hotels operate independently. I had watched and reported to the hotel on many occasions that individuals (who also happen to panhandle in front of the hotel) were coming into the lobby and using the hotel computer. After several years of staying there, I was completely offended that Holiday Inn washed their hands of any responsibility for their lack of security. Regardless of what the rooms or service are like, if your credit card information is not protected and the comoany accepts no responsibility it is not worth the risk of staying there.

Pathetic service. TOTAL SCAM. We are visiting are 11 hours from home, came in and said we couldn’t have our room that had already been booked for over two weeks. Also didn’t get almost 4100 worth of air miles back!
Counter service was very poor, I never would have thought verbal abuse and many other things like this would have ever happened! Left us out on the snowy streets of Edmonton with nowhere to go. DO NOT. I repeat DO NOT book in with Holiday Inn Conference Center South Edmonton!
