Rooms were clean, staff was friendly. The complimentary breakfast was good, decent amount of options. The only negative is that the hot tub was not in service.which sucked. Wish they would let you know that beforehand. But all in all our stay was good.

Horrible place and horrible manager, place should be completely re done. Their are no towels and most of everything is broken within the hotel, don’t bother with the manager he is racist and thinks too highly of himself to call back.

I booked a hotel room and felt sick. Called early morning and cancelled the room. Was not informed or told that it has 24hrs policy. Most hotel I stayed and also stayed in same hotel before. No show no charge. Spoke to the Manager Raj and he said he will see what he can do and will call back. No call back, was charged extra for not staying and also did not sent an invoice.

Hotel is in renovation. Staff is good and mornings breakfast is lousy

So the gym wasn’t available but they still charge you full price for amenities that you cannot even use.

So instead of working out I was going to swim lanes in the pool.

Upon entering the pool there’s someone giving swimming lessons to the public.

So I’m paying $200 per night to have access to these things and I can’t even swim my lanes because there’s swimming lessons.

They shouldn’t allow swimming lessons in a private property. That should be done at a public pool so the people who pay to actually stay at your hotel can enjoy the pool.

I’m deeply disappointed.

I’m an IHG member. In total I’ve spent 400 nights with holiday inn and now I’m never going to stay at another holiday inn again. Half my life is spent in a hotel now and I’m not paying good money for a hotel that doesn’t care about it’s guests staying here.

I’ve spent well over 50 thousand dollars with IHG and now you will never receive another penny, ever again.

After speaking to Jen at the front desk who has the absolute worst attitude ever, I recorded our conversation and I’m sending it to corporate.

I’ve read many bad reviews of terrible customer service. You guys should get rid of the dead weight in your company.

Who you hire reflects your business.
She’s too young and has way too much attitude to work in hospitality.

Great rooms, friendly desk and free breakfast that includes pancakes, omlete or scrambled eggs, and the usual muffins and cereal. Coffee was also very good! Close enough to everything it is our go to spot for a getaway inside thr city.

I have been staying at this hotel for 2 years and it is progressively getting worse. Mold in bathrooms, minimal cleaning to rooms, there are a couple girls behind the desk that are a delight to deal with however they're light is definitely put out by the negative experiences I have with the men behind front desk. They tvs never work I am always having to complain about them. Last night I was ignored 3 times by the young man at front desk. I will be talking with my company about changing hotels that is for sure. Very disappointed in how this hotel takes care of their guests.

If I could leave a no star review I would.
I had several rooms booked for an event, and ended up not needing them. I cancelled all the reservations within 48 hrs of the scheduled arrival date, and received an email confirmation and cancellation number.
A week later all of the reservations were charged to my credit card.
The front desk never answers their phone, so I had to deal with the customer service line who told me that although they could see that my reservations were cancelled, it was not in their power to revese the charges. They gave me a case number, and told me to contact my credit card company and dispute the charges.
I'll never be using this hotel again, and would caution anyone looking at booking this hotel.

This Holiday inn has given me the worst customer service experience of my life. After having to speak to 6 customer service reps about my experience with this hotel with nothing being written down by reps, speaking to the hotel Manger who did not apologize for her employee yelling at me and hanging up, no resolution or refund has been met. Not resolving this issue leads me to believe they accept this service as their standard which is absolutely unacceptable. I would not recommend dealing with IHG period.

We stayed here for a nearby wedding for two nights. I stay in a lot of Holiday Inns for my work and I can say without exaggeration that this is by far the worst I have ever stayed at.

Upon arrival, our toilet didn’t work, wouldn’t flush. We called the front desk in the morning and they came up and said it was working now, just something was rusting in it. One flush later, it was dead again. Front desk said they’d come repair it. Out for the day and back in the afternoon, and it still wasn’t fixed. Called down again and they finally sent a maintenance guy to work up a fix, it worked after that but felt like it could break again at any second.

Room was clean but is very dated compared to other Holiday Inn Express locations. Lacked a lot of basic amenities like recycle bins, toiletries (one tiny bar of soap the size of a golf ball) etc. Breakfast was lacking in options and the options available were of poor quality (stale bread and bagels, gooey sausage).

Checking out, I told the front desk of these concerns. They said they
would refund some of the IHG points we used to stay. They also made a point of asking me not to leave a bad review (looking at the other reviews, it seems like they get these complaints a lot). One week later - surprise! - no refunded points.

This Holiday Inn needs some major work in quality of rooms, amenities and staff. Would stay at another location further away and Uber to where I need to go than stay here again. Avoid!

BEWARE, DO NOT STAY HERE! This hotel should be condemned. It's is the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed at. We booked for three nights. At 1: 00am on the first night we couldn't take it anymore and packed up and left in the middle of the night. We couldn't sleep because of all the noise. We could hear random loud banging in the middle of the night from the shower pipes from other people showering. In the hotel room every thing was falling apart. The AC didn't work properly and was leaking and the floor was completely soaked. They didn't even offer us another room. The shower didn't work properly. And they did a very poor job at cleaning that room there was a booger in the sink. There is a mouse infestation also (mouse traps everywhere). The pool is also very filthy, it is not maintained. We asked for a refund and the guy at the front desk wasn't very nice to us. He said we will have to speak with the manager in the morning, but from reading the other reviews the manager seems to be a coward.

Update: we were told a manager would call us and that was two weeks ago. Still haven't heard anything. Still waiting for a refund.

I made this reservation and cancelled it a day later, because my travel plans changed.
The hotel charged me $411.38 in spite of this.
Reservation was made Aug 8,2022 and cancelled Aug 9,2022.
The days were to be checking in the 13th of Aug 2022, and out the 15th.
I was charged the full amount for the stay, and when I tried to call this hotel they put me on hold for 39 min total. (Calls made Aug 18,2022 at 22: 35 duration 26 min and 23: 01 duration 13 min)
Needless to say I gave up on the hotel. (After 10 PM by the way, is not exactly the busiest time at a hotel.)
I then telephoned the Diamond Elite call center, who was very little help.
I consider this a cheap lesson, however this has finished me for IHG, and as a Diamond Level Member that takes a lot for someone like me to do.
I will be using up my accumulated points, and the remaining reservation I've got left for the year, and will be switching over to Marriot Bonvoy.
My job has me travelling to frequently, to have petty things like this ruin my day.
Holiday Inn Express Calgary South-Macleod Trail S (12025 Lake Fraser Drive Calgary, AB T2J7G5 CA) can keep my money, but what I spend in the future will go elsewhere.
Be careful if you plan to book with this hotel.

Colin, I had a similar experience and filed a complaint through my credit card company. My credit card company immediately refunded the charges and sent a letter to this Holiday Inn to dispute the case. Heard nothing further clearly suggesting the Holiday Inn had no ability to insist these charges were valid.

We were exhausted after a busy day of hiking Glacier National Park and were met with kindness by Marina and Saini. They met and exceeded all our needs promptly and efficiently, again with a kindenss which was beyond expectations. Our first example of Canada nice. The following day we decided to stay an additional night, and were assisted by Jeeian who also couldn't have been nicer. Later we observed that Shelly who made everything available for breakfast was still working, this time with housekeeping. Everyone we came in contact with was not only professional but so very nice. This was our third stay at a Holiday Inn express and we have been happy with all of them, but what impressed me was the staff.

Booked the hotel through Expedia. Drove 9 hours to find out my reservation was canceled days before and they gave our room away and that they were also now overbooked and they can't do anything.when I arrived at the hotel there was a woman leaving balling her eyes out because they did the same to her. Had to scramble to find another hotel on a very busy weekend. Got one that was over double the price I booked with Holiday inn. No contact to let me know there was an issue, still showed booked on app, had the confirmation number. No offer to help find another hotel. They said that my card didn't match and my reservation was canceled, same with the woman that was crying. Could have at least contacted me to let me know there was a problem and correct it.

I had to ask for Kleenex as the ones in the room were empty. The bed had hair or fur all over it. It was disgusting. I asked for new sheets and he did give me one set of new sheets that didn't have too much hair on it but still had some. The floor and the bathroom had hair as well. The toilet was clean. The ac was leaking on the floor so I asked for a bucket. It could be a nice hotel if they made sure it was clean.

Ok where to start. Please review your credit card statement. I was double charged a deposit fee. And when I went to pay for the room with my credit card I couldn't. So I put it on my debit card. And paid the 100 fee on my card. Got back to the room and check.went back to the front desk. And was like why. Asian lady didn't really seem to care. Reversed the charges but was withdrawn and careless. This is our second time at this hotel. Really considering not returning again.
2.) The breakfast.
Yuck. The eggs are liquid mess under cooked and very gritty. 2 types of sausages pork and turkey.but no bacon.
Again staff don't seem to be engaged with hotel guests.
3.) The king room with Jacuzzi the carpet is coming off the floor with carpet tacks cutting the bottom of ur feet. Carpet was cut and patched. Didn't even match up.showed was very rusted and not looked after. This is not an old hotel.when the people next door turn on the water. Holly sounds the their is a tornado. Never ever again. 3 nights for 600 and leaving disappointed.

We arrived here with an open mind after reading reviews previously. I’d like to verify that all the bad reviews are true. Our own experience involved a plugged bathroom sink and bathtub. There is some black mould growth beginning to show on the top of the shower. So I can only imagine what’s behind the walls. The rest of the room was satisfactory but stains on furniture told me of lack of cleanliness. The included breakfast was not satisfactory at all. Meat was uncooked, day old cold oatmeal, old bread that was rock hard. Just not something that you would expect from a well known hotel chain in Calgary. I wouldn’t even blame the staff in this instance because it’s the owning company who should take pride in training staff and providing a clean, satisfactory stay. I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels and I can safely say that this has been the worst stay. And no, the generic response won’t work here. This is not an uncommon experience judging by all the other reviews that were left here. Do better.

Appalled by the service in this hotel! My parents paid to stay at this hotel from out of town for two nights. After checking in we entered the room, it was astounding how filthy is was. The bed had hand prints on it, couch had grease spot. The desk and bedside table were not wiped down. Greasy finger marks on the desk. Dust on top of the TV. We called the girl from front desk to get them a different room. Parents took photos so they could show manager. The girl said that they don’t need the photos. Went to a different room, was till filthy. Third room still the same. Due to time they had to get some shopping done for Christmas before the mall closes. My Mom said she wasn’t coming back because the room was not even clean at all. She asked for her money back. They refused to give it back to her. I never seen such a poor housekeeping services, even a monkey clean better then this housekeeping at the hotel. Especially during Covid, you would think they want their customers to feel comfortable. My parents ended up going to Carriage Inn where they received excellent service.

Staff is nice but the owners don’t care. There should be a shoe mat inside the room but instead it’s just tile floor in the entrance so your shoes leave big puddles during the winter. There’s not a single towel rack so you can’t hang your wet towels if you wanted to. They also serve a continental breakfast but don’t cook the bacon and also just let fruit flies buzz around all the food and coffee stand. Kinda gross. Get some fly traps.

Dumb counter staff, forced to sleep in my vehicle because they would not accept a credit card number or tap. The required the card to be present for the damage deposit even though I booked and paid for the room using hotels. Com. I lost my wallet and was from out of town. Extremely useless staff.

We were booked in for Dec. 17 and 4 days before we check in we get a cancellation email that they cancelled our reservation. All good straightened that out but still had the hassle of having to deal with that. Next we get there check in and they give us a room away from the rest of our group which we had signed a contract, so we could reserve a block of rooms close together plus we get put in a room that smells of smoke and was dirty. We were not allowed to move until my father in law came down and complained too. At check out we were told they were getting multiple complaints on those rooms so why haven’t they looked into that is the first question. Next we never once had housekeeping come in and check amenities and clean out the garbages we were there for 3 days. Next the breakfast the bread was stale and hard the bacon wasn’t cooked and the sausage wasn’t cooked either. On top of that we were told we would get a discount for our troubles but yet again nope.

I needed a room on very short notice. They were able to accommodate. The room was MASSIVE and very high-quality finishes. Great value. I had to then shorten my stay as well at very short notice and they were very understanding. No extra fees or hassle. They really worked with me and $ was never an issue with them when it came to making changes. They put my needs first and were very helpful. This is a great place!

We go here for the pool. Always a good time for the kids. This last visit the pool was cloudy though, and my son found what looked like dryer lint in the pool by the slide. Wasn't our best experience. But overall we look forward to doing the drop in swim here often.

Worst Experience Ever staying at a hotel. After months and months of trying to get a response from anyone in upper management, with countless emails to the hotel itself, corporate anyone I finally gave up. Zero customer service from the front desk staff all the way up to the owner. They don't care about their guests as long as they can take your money.

The hotel rooms and lobby need some attention. Clearly has been well used and repairs are needed. Our initial experience was about a 2 star. Thanks to Jeeian Pantig (front desk) it all changed. She was amazing handling everything by herself on Remembrance Day with top notch service and great patience as people were constantly wanting something. I watched as she was the target of an angry guest regarding the pool booking policy (which by the way is actually not written anywhere). We were caught off guard as well and my little guy didn't get the pool time he was hoping for initially. But Jeeian made it happen so that he could have the best birthday with his family. Jeeian is a superstar and should be commended for her customer service.

Night clerk was extremely confused and claimed I didn’t have a booking, when I had done online check in. Wasn’t wearing mask properly and was annoyed checking me in.

This morning after checking out I find out that they charged my credit card $564 for a one night stay. Called the front desk and she was very rude and had no real explanations as to why they charged my card that much and to call my bank for them to sort it out even though it’s their business who charged my card. Not happy with their service. Would recommend booking else where.

Should have released when I was checking out and there was another customer who was upset and wanted to speak to a manager but was getting the run around.

Worst hotel ever I been in my life. I've been in Ukraine in 1 star hotel and it's better than this one. I went to take a shower and a tub was filling up with water not draining and there was hair coming out. Big chunk of hairs very grows! I went to front desk and explained them situation they didn't care, at all. Very poor service. There were people checking out of their hotel rooms and they all were negative about this hotel. Hair dryer was not working as well. My worth nightmare was this hotel. I would really recommend puck another hotel

Never book in this hotel, this place is horrible.

1. Stinky washroom, due to shower curtains unchanged
2. No towels in the room
3. Floor is dirty and we even saw face mask that was lying on the floor that the previous guest have used.
4. Some outlets aren't working.
5. Waiting at-least an hour just to get checked in.

I complain to the manager and they keep telling me that they need to talk to their director. I even tried to email them yet its been a month and I haven’t receive any response.

I made two mistakes. My room was hot and stuffy upon opening the door. 26 degrees said the thermostat. I turned on the air conditioner and went to meet a friend for dinner. When I returned, the room was cool. I got into my jammies and went to close the blackout curtains, but my feet got wet. The air con unit drain was plugged and the carpet was wet. That was not either of my mistakes though. My second mistake was being forgetful and leaving three small personal items in the bedside drawer before I checked out. I called that evening after I checked out as, though they are not of great monetary value, one of the items was my box of hearing aid batteries. Reception was not able to assist and requested I call back the next day. I did. This person took my number after receiving my crystal clear description of the room number and location of the items. Ten hours later, still nothing. Third call, I get the same person as the night before who is even less able to converse. Effective communication is clearly not a required competency for employment at the Holiday Inn. I got quite firm and told the young human being that I was not very happy. I had to insist the human on the other end of the phone line record my telephone number and advise firmly that I required them to do something about this on my behalf. They called back later, indicating they did not have my items. Who steals underpants, socks and hearing aid batteries. My first mistake. Staying at this hotel. Never again.

Cheap ownership and staff oveloaded with work. Long waiting times to check into your room or get someone to answer the phone. Worn frayed towels and linen. Cannot use the pool because someone teaches swimming lessons to non-guests (WTF? ; you pay for someone else to use the pool). TOTAL waste of money: charge you like a 5 star resort; give you dive bar service.

Upon checking in. The hotel had charged our cc, only for reservation assuming we had paid for the 3 rooms. Through Expedia we had booked a room it wasn’t charged. We had no other option to pay in full over 2g for all 4 rooms, plus damage deposit. We had tired children, the confusion and communication was poor, front desk was incompetent to deliver. We had shortage of towels, no tissue paper and no shower curtain in one room. I will not be recommending this hotel, nor will our family be staying here again.

Found bugs in our room and inside the bed sheets, talked to the front desk and he only offered us new sheets. Asked about a refund or room change and said there was nothing he could do, no comped room, no discount, just a heres your deposit sorry for the inconvenience. Beds were dirty and had black marks all over, lamps covered in dust, tables covered in dust and just an overall gross room. Swimming pool was fully booked and seemed to have no organization, just come back and book a time, yet always completely full the couple hours we were there. Won't ever stay again, don't recommend anyone else.

Worst experience I ever had. On Canada day long weekend we stayed at Calgary 's Holiday Inn Express fraser drive. We really disappointed with their services. We already booked room but they had gave it to someone else. Room service is very bad we ask cups for coffee for six but they gave three and suggested to share it.
When we left the room and came back a while later, we were shocked so find our room dirty still. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO STAY IN THIS HOTEL.

We stayed for one night in June 2021. Not the best experience, I expected more from holiday inn. Pre covid I did a lot of work trips in various holidays inns, and this one was probably the worst one I've been to. Very old, incredibly dated with furniture that looks like it came from the 80s, and the bed and bathroom were not very clean.

We waited a good 15-20 min to check in, the front desk guy had disappeared. Once he came back he immediately went into the back and started folding towels instead of helping me and the other family at the front desk. Apparently they were out of towels in the pool so that family had to dry off their kids in the bath mat. Not a good first impression.

When we went it was a heatwave, and the AC was horrible. It was so loud and kept going on and off during the night, making a rattling sound that woke both of us up. We could also hear all the sounds from nearby rooms and the traffic noise from Macleod trail. Got barely any sleep all night.

Breakfast was lacklustre as well, a muffin, banana, and yogurt in a bag. The in room coffee was keurig k cups, you can't mess that up I guess.

For the price I paid, it was like a motel half the price. We actually did stay in a way cheaper motel later in our trip, and that place was cleaner, quieter, and had way better breakfast than this holiday inn. It really doesn't hold up to what I expect from holiday inn standards and I'm going to have to rethink my hotel chain choices in the future as well.

We paid $150+taxes for a king bed with a jacuzzi. Better than same priced hotels in Banff/Jasper. The breakfast was okay: a lunch bag with one banana, a muffin, and a yogurt per person. The only con is even when the furnace is turned off, it was still heating the room. So, it was not at the ideal cool temperature for summer. Other than that, it was okay.

Sorry this hotel does not inspire safety COVID. But I gave it 2 stars because I really liked the room for size and amount of plugs to power all my devises.

1.when guests are sitting around lobby and going into Bonavista room no masks on. OK they may have legit reasons.but not all of them. But its very lax.

2. The business centre had no wipes or signs about how often it is beinv being cleaned. It would be no effort to have some present for guest who wish to wipe mouse / keyboard.

3. Other issues the lack of staff. When they are absent from front desk no sign to say how long away or how to contact them.twice I found my myself hanging around the lobby unclear how to connect with staff. Staff were not always helpful.

4. Breakfast was very poor. We had come here from a Best Western which at least offered water and juice with a breakfast bag. We checked out of our room camr for breakfast bag. A very green banana which one could not digest.a yogurt and muffin. We asked about a drink and were told to make them in our room! Be nice to have at least a carton of juice.

This hotel was average or let's say " it was OK" not the best. Would i stay again? Most likely "No". Why? It was totally outdated and dark. I didn't really like it but being that it was super late when we checked, there wasn't time to be fussy lol
I will say i had the most comfortable sleep. Bed was so comfy and the pillows were the best. Thumbs up for that!

I stayed one night with my daughter, the room was clean, no complaints on the cleanliness.
I think because of the covid it's a bit of a weird experience being in a hotel. The restaurant was closed, and there was no water in the vending machine.the guy at the front desk was wearing a mask but it wasn't covering his nose so weekdays the point.
All in all it was a decent hotel. I paid 115 for a room with 2 double beds. I think it was supposed to include breakfast but maybe because of covid they couldn't offer anything.
I'd stay here again, and recommend this place.

Not bad but could be cleaner. Comforter on the bed was stained and I felt I needed to wash the tub before I used it. Found someone's nose ring behind the bathroom door.

Nikita was amazing! Super friendly, knowledgeable about the area, hospitable and went above and beyond to make my stay pleasurable. I will return to this hotel in the future and will recommend to my friends and family traveling from out of town.

The front desk clerk from England was very helpful and very nice. The Holiday Inn family is lucky to have her.

Solid experience. Hotel is definitely a bit dated. And sucked no hot breakfast because of covid. Would return though.

We came into Calgary and forgot our credit card in our home town. We called all over the place trying to get a room for the next two nights. We called here and Jeeian helped us. My family and I were aloud to stay here with a cash deposit. The only place in the SE of Calgary that was willing to help. Jeenian is by far the best hotel employee I have ever got to meet. Very polite, professional and made us feel so welcomed. We will be staying here every time we come to Calgary for appointments. Please Holliday inn. Do not ever lose this perfect employee.

My uncle called and booked a room for my other uncle who is disabled and lives on assistance. He was coming to town for a funeral. When I took my disabled uncle there they insisted that he produce a credit card for a deposit. My other uncle already gave a credit card to pay for the room over the phone.it became a whole hassle, and in the end my poor uncle had to use his rent money on his debit card as a deposit. How is someone supposed to stay in your hotel if they are disabled without credit? The person calling the hotel and paying for the room had all the credit info you needed. It was totally an unnecessary hassle. Otherwise my uncle enjoyed the stay, although said the eggs at the breakfast were cold. Thanks!

Bright, clean, good price. The front desk staff are about the best I’ve ever seen. They went out of their way to make us comfortable and help with our troublesome dietary concerns. Thank you very much. More than 5 stars.

Property was nice, staff were friendly and room was large with all amenities. The breakfast was great and food was fresh however all serving plates and cutlery were disposable single use non recyclable Items - all will go into the landfill 365 days a year. Other hotels that offer breakfast have proper reusable plates bowls cups and cutlery. WILL NOT BE BACK UNTIL THIS PROPERTY EMBRACES SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES.

Found pubic hair in the bathtub when i checked in. I brought it up to FD, but Too tired to let hk clean. I just run the tap open.room was ok, fair for the price, but wasnt happy.

I only stayed here one night but it was great. The bed was comfortable, the AC/heater worked amazing, the staff were friendly. I would gladly stay here again.

My 3 year old had his birthday party here. Had the breakfast room and access to the pool. It was fantastic! 100% would recommend for a party!

Our reservation was mysteriously canceled hours before we checked -in, manager blamed it on IT issues and not the real reason of using an old/expired CC they had on file. Ceiling started leaking heavily at 9: 00 pm from hot tub above which was so loud a person could not hear the tv. An hour later we were finally given cards to a different room. The next morning, the manager was totally uninformed and acted like these type of issues happen on a regular basis! All of this for $120.00 and invitation for us to return. Cleanliness of hotel and customer care has diminished considerably and needs improvement. We won’t be back!
