Excellent service from Frienty Ko as always! She’s been our trusted tax pro for 10 years, and we followed her to this location from Crowfoot when she was transferred. Always a pleasure, and we enjoyed some complementary Starbucks hot chocolate & coffee from their fancy dispensing machine. I would recommend this location to all in need of quick tax refund or filing. Same day refund via pre-paid card for all who qualify. We just did basic T4 return so was easy process!

I went to H&R Block in 2020. I was in dire need of money due to being unemployed because of covid. The agent said that I had no money coming to me since I owed for fines. I did 8 years of tax returns. Within a month I was homeless and sold my cell phone. Last year I did them at 17 ave SE. I was yold they had $4500 of my money from 2020 sitting in their account. I was happy to finally get it but I dont trust them anymore. They destroyed my life

Worst Services - Got my Tax filed by Guru, and I got the refund. Additionally, I paid $19 extra for Peace Of Mind (which was no where close to any peace of Mind), since they entered my address wrong (not just me, but my colleague's as well).
And now I am struggling to get my CRA password reset since the Mail is not reaching me, and the Online call services are not working either with CRA.
My other colleague got it done somewhere else, for just $50 total with all things in perfect way.
Its only later that I came to know why so many people HATE H&R and their pitty services.

For the past few years I have been using the services to file my personal taxes with H & R Block at 17th Ave SW, Calgary AB. The service has been exemplary and punctual. I have been dealing with Mr. Gurudutt Pai who has been handling my portfolio and I am completely satisfied with his helpful and professional mannerism. I would highly recommend Mr. Pai to help you sort out your tax situation.

Frienty Ko helped us get our maximum return and was hugely helpful and informative! We had a great experience and felt very well taken care of through every step of the process.

Initial interaction is excellent and got the job done. Paid for the peace of mind. However getting a hold of them back is difficult. Called 5 times and left voicemails and never got a call back. Someone answered and said the agent wasn’t working so she took my information down and would pass it on for them to call but they never called. Got a reassessment notice and my mind was not at peace.

Got an appointment in with Mehmood. He explained everything well and there was no error on H&R block. My mind was at peace.

This has got to be the worst company to deal with. My mom passed away and they misfiled. Zero customer service

This is the first time I used H&R Block at 1029,17 Ave, SW, Calgary, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. As soon as I entered I was warmly greeted by Asiya, the receptionist. She took my information and immediately asked me if I wanted a water or a coffee while I waited. This was unexpected. After a few minutes, I was greeted by Ms. Frienty Ko, the accountant. I had a few questions, and Ms. Ko answered them all concisely and was very informative. I had to have both my 2021 and 2022 taxes done, as I had recently moved to Alberta in 2021. Ms. Ko did both within the hour and explained every aspect of the procedure and paperwork. I was very impressed. I will be back next year.

Joy Menzies was very helpful in correcting my return and gave me a good deal. I would recommend her services to anyone I know.

Guru Pai is amazing and very professional and helpful. I had to leave his desk to take a very important phone call and I stepped into a quiet room so as not to disturb anyone. Another H & R Block representative, Nick Raschev, walked in and instead of politely saying, “Excuse me, sir, clients are not allowed in this room, ” he all but physically assaulted me. He was so loud that it drew the attention of everyone outside the room. He was extremely rude and his temper was at a dangerous level. He should not be allowed anywhere near customers. Now I fear he’s going to go into my tax files and do something sinister. Someone in management needs to address his temper before someone gets hurt. I don’t think Anger Management sessions is enough for this individual. If anything happens to my taxes as far as the CRA is concerned, I need to have this review as proof of the events that happened. This review will go down only when Nick Raschev apologizes to me for his terrible conduct before me, other customers and his colleagues.

Just finished catching up my taxes. Since I had rental income Tammy was not able to file for me but she was friendly and helped me get setup. Guru did the filing for me, four years at once. He was very quick and answered all my questions. Great positive energy for the busiest day of the tax season. It is always nice to work with someone who enjoys their job. Guru was also ok with my digital expense copies, super cool since I don't own a printer.

Guru has helped me and my wife for many years and he’s always very good at what he does each time, we’ve been very impressed with him. Thank you Guru, see you next year and the years to follow!

Dropped my tax forms off on March 26, still haven’t gotten them back! Had to call them each week to get an update, they made up a bunch of excuses of why it hasn’t been done. It was suppose to take a week and it’s going on 3 weeks.

Would not recommend to get them done here at least at the 17th Ave location.extremely very unprofessional and won’t be coming back here again.

Maybe ask the fees before hand just to get an idea of how much filing with H&R Block will be. I've been going for several years and the most I paid was $140. This year the price rose to $409. I guess this is because I'm coming late season but I thought I filed the same time last year but could be wrong. They sometimes offer discounts to file earlier. The cost maybe partly to do with the number of documents I brought, but it would be nice to know in advance that it costs based on number of documents. I'm still confused with why the price rose so much as I had a similar number of documents last year. Lovely staff as always though. Will likely file at home next year as I don't want to break the bank.

Guru was amazing, he was very honest and did all he could to ensure I got the most out of my tax return.

Fantastic service by Guru. He walked me through the process and he was clear, concise and efficient. The reviews on here all talk big about this branch and it really shows. They have a great team and you're going to be in good hands.

Most useless h&r block around. Hanging up on customers, interrrupting customer in the middle of asking questions in regards to filing with them. Useleess useless useless

Had appt for 9 am got there at 8: 55 door was locked waited until 9: 10 door was still locked remember one day soon the govt will n doing returns no need for you clowns!

I'd like to rate this H&R place 5/5 for their excellent service and good manners. It was my first time filing taxes in Canada and my tax adviser MEI walked me through every step and relieved me from some concerns I had before filing my taxes.

I called and booked an appointment with them on December 22nd, 2021. They booked me in for December 31st, 2021@ 1pm. When I arrived their doors were locked but there was a lady in the front desk that kept shaking her head no. I pointed at my watch to indicate I have a 1pm appointment. I dont think she understood, all she did was shake her head. I continued knocking non stop and even called the business line a few times just to talk to her and find out what happened to my 1pm appointment. But she ignored me.

I've never experienced such unprofessional behavior from a big company like H&R Block. For them to book me in on that day and then when I arrive, they are closed? Why does their website say closed at 2pm? Did the person who booked my appointment mess up? Why couldn't the lady at the front help me out instead of ignoring me? All I wanted to know was what was happening and would have likely rescheduled. All I wanted was a response. Never again will I used H&R Block.

I always come to H&R Block, and the service is super fantastic. The receptionist was kind and extremely helpful. I was amazed at how fast I I got in, which showed that their staff respects your time. The whole process is very customer focused. Our tax professional was very knowledgeable and provided outstanding services quickly, hassle-free and efficiently. Your people are simply the best!

Had my taxes filed with Sandeep Kaur tonight 04/14/2020 and I was offered the opportunity to have my tax return instantly, Sandeep told me that there were no additional fees and that it would be the exact same as the CRA refund just faster, so I agreed to it. When I got to the front counter I was presented a forum to sign that stated that DC bank would be charging a $10 service fee for every payment that the account received. I then asked for more information and was introduced to Guru, Guru was extremely unprofessional and argued why I did not want to sign the forum. Guru attempted to pressure me into signing the forum and insisted that it was a one time fee. After reviewing the "H&R Block Tax Plus Products and Services Terms and Conditions Booklet" it clearly states that a $10.00 fee will be charged on every payment that it received by the CRA with no expiry date until the account is closed. The booklet also states that a $5.00 monthly fee will be applied to the account with an expiry date after one year. This means that on average if you received 8 payments from the CRA every year, H&R block will take $80.00 + $60.00 for monthly fees + $10.00 for a yearly fee. This is criminal and should be mentioned before people like Guru attempt to force this card upon you. I am requesting that someone from H & R block contacts me on my registered number for further discussion as this is in breach of section 459.1 of the "Bank Act" for Canada.

Went on March 27/2021 and talked with Dolores Osvald It was my first time filing a complex year. I needed to submit additional info which I did same day, got a reply back next day and immediately reply back with whatever she was still needing. I have not heard back from her since then, I sent AN EMAIL following up on April 12, called today (Monday April 19) and still NO IDEA NO RESPONSE. I called today and receptionist said she was not coming to the office until Saturday April 23? , wow no comments really. I do not know what to think, I have no idea what is the status of my filing. It is been long since I submitted everything. I need to travel in a few days and this is so stressful. I would not recommend her or H&R services.

I walked into this location asking to be helped by Guru. The reviews I had read online speak very highly of him, and he didn't disappoint!

He helped me completely understand the process, and made it comfortable enough for me to ask questions. He also took the time to explain the work he did to help me get the most out of my tax return.

Aside from him doing a great job at what he does, but it was clear that he takes the time to take care of his clients. From keeping treats for kids, dog treats for pets, to asking his colleagues for a charger (I didn't come prepared), this is what makes a great experience. He's prepared to make it great - not just good.

I just filed my taxes @ 104-1029 17th Ave Sw Calgary office and had the best service from both the front staff (on the phone and in person from employee Chanen) and my master tax professional: Guru Pai. They were professional, extremely knowledgeable and efficient, friendly, patient, and explained everything very clearly. I've used H&R block in the past and have been very satisfied, but this year has been very difficult on everyone (as well as 2020) and so I think it's important to praise people on the frontline as workers who are doing a commendable job. Thank you!

They couldn't do an instant refund and said I could get it later. I could do for free and get it the same time. Went to liberty and got it done right away. H&R is well known and too busy. Give the other guys a try ;)

I was definitely happy with my experience at the 17th Ave Calgary H&R block. Guru Pai was great at walking me through my complex tax situation and made sure to get the maximum returns where possible.

I HIGHLY recommend seeing Guru for any tax inquiries/assistance. He helped educate me and prepared me better for future tax seasons. And saved me a bunch of money an awesome experience for something that can be a bit of a hassle.

The staff is brilliant and compassionate. I am clueless about much of these things, and they helped me understand what needs to be done, and the best way to go about it.

I went in thinking that I was dropping off but they had the time to do my taxes right then and there, answered all my questions and was quick and easy.

The staff were very busy, possibly understaffed. Somehow they still managed to be entirely courteous, kind and efficient with my taxes. I had booked online and dropped off my information. While I was waiting the area was completely sanitized and had the pleasure of witnessing the staff be kind and straightforward to other clients. I absolutely will return to this location and to H&R in general as I've always had a good experience.

I can't say enough about my experience at this location of H&R Block. From the moment I went in, until everything was complete the service I received was incredible. Guru was the associate that assisted me. He has a wonderful way of making a rather complex situation seem understandable, and not scary. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and helped me understand my taxes in my context which I believe will help me in the years to come. I had lots of questions for Guru, and he answered them all with patience and professionalism in a vocabulary I could understand. I would without hesitation recommend Guru and this location of H&R Block.

I have had this group at H&R Block do my taxes the last couple years and they have always been friendly, professional and put me at ease about this stressful topic. Recently I had a rather large issue with something the CRA missed on a reassessment that was sent in, and due to COVID, I ended up playing a little bit of phone tag with a gentleman that was looking into it for me (I had been on the line on hold with EI for hours so I missed calls, etc). For that, I have to say a huge thank you to Chanen for being so sweet, friendly and patient with me calling a few times, and making sure was I was connected to Guru as soon as possible. Also, I have to give a huge shoutout to Guru, who was the one looking into this for me. He was so friendly and really knew his stuff. He put me at ease right away that he identified the issues and was able to help me. He was so good at this stuff, it only took him a few minutes of looking into everything to find out what was causing issues and he went back and redid what was wrong. He took really good care of this stressed out lady, made me laugh, and feel much better about what had happened and he fixed everything up. These two get hero of the month in my book!

If you have problems settling your taxes, stop by H&R BLOCK at 17 Ave SW and please look for Guru or Chanen. For me, taking care of taxes is the most troublesome thing, especially nowadays. They were very familiar with the problems I was experiencing, they solved my problems one by one. They answered my questions and even helped me with CERB! I feel that I am part of their family, this service I NEVER FIND ANYWHERE ELSE! This is what makes me happy. If you want someone who helps you like them helping their family, then I suggest you come to H&R BLOCK at 17 Ave SW and look for Guru and Chanen! Once again, thank you and Good job!

I had a great experience today with senior tax expert, Guru. He was personable, organized and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

I came in and worked with Guru Pai to file taxes. He made the whole process seamless and easy. He is definitely knowledgeable about the processes and could answer questions succinctly.

My tax expert today was Guru. He was so good and very organized. He had most of tax information prepared ahead of my 1030 appointment. I really like this fellow. Everything was completed within a half hour. Byron.

I had no idea what to do for my taxes, went in and met Guru Pai who sat me down and went through all of my options. Was very understanding and answered all of my questions and was able to assist me in filing multiple years that I had missed.
