Had a lady yelling prices from a back room to the secretary.just go across Edmonton trail to the tax service place across the street. Guaranteed to have a quote at around half the price of H&R block

I highly recommend this location for your taxes. They were very responsive and responsible. Very helpful at all times. No fuss straight to business attitude. Will continue to use their services.

Just finished my (very late) tax return and the people in this H&R Block were very professional and extremely quick on my return! It was a very fun experience going in here, and they even went over every detail with me in my complicated return! I highly recommend this location for whatever you need!

I went in about a month ago to get some information that I needed to open a CRA account online. Tamara and Laurie were not only helpful with that, but also completed my 2019 tax return in less than 10 minutes, and were exceedingly friendly, competent and informative the entire time. Thank you for making my experience so great:) Would recommend!

I dealt with the 16th Ave location in Calgary. I was getting someone else's estate taxes done, not an easy task. The lady who worked on them was so knowledgable, so pleasant and got them done so quickly. I highly recommend this location.

Money grabbers with zero expertise - Avoid this place.
Went to a H&R Block to do my tax refund. They advertised tax experts who guarantee you will get the maximum refund. Reality could not be further from that. The lady who did my taxes just kept reading questions from her screen as if it was the first time she had read them. She had no idea what I was entitled to and what not as a 'foreign worker'. She constantly had to go away to "ask her manager" about it (apparently not so much of an expert). She said I could not apply for AB's GST rebate and her manager confirmed that too (it turned out I was entitled and should have requested my GST rebate). In a nutshell; they charged +$114.00, the so called 'expert' had no clue what she was doing, I lost the GST rebate ($360) that I was entitled too and later I learnt I could have done it myself for $13.99 online.
Avoid this place, zero expertise and outrageously expensive.

Quick and easy, thourogh expination of where my return is going. Even caught a return for me from 10 years ago!

I started to deal with Olga all the time since I moved to Calgary and she’s AMAZING and friendly! I’ll defiantly rate for 10/10 for her to recommend everyone to go for her! See her next year for my tax year 2020 ;)!

However, when I walked in, the assistant lady, who’s an Asian and saw I am Asian as well, so she automatically assigned me to a tax professional, Jessica, but I don’t even have an idea with who J is. She didn’t even apologize for the assumption!
Furthermore, she asked people who walked in way later than me because she assumed Asians are going for Asian tax professional. Didn’t even bother to check me in with my 2 o’clock appointment. If I didn’t let her know I am dealing with Olga, I bet she’ll never check me in but send me to whoever she assumed I made appointment with.

Fantastic service, great staff. I was a walk-in, they we more then happy to help me with my return, used them many times already and will continue to in the future.

We have been going to Mary for many years, we appreciate her great knowledge and excellent serivce. Always a 5 star experience.

I've had a horrible experience with this location, when I first tried to file with Carol, she only did my 2018, and I wanted to file the years I had with me.
Then after awhile, I wasnt getting a return when Carol informed I was getting x amount.
And that she didn't realize it was my first time filing taxes, when I clearly told her from the start.
And then in top of everything else, it took over a month an 2 weeks to finally get a readjustment, I recieved a voicemail 4 weeks later saying my adjustment has been made.
When in the first week, they told they do it on a saturday and never called me back about it, so I called them, then waited over a month for a phone call saying it was done.
If I could rate negative, I would, and I dont reccomend this location

Mary was awesome! Had the taxes done in 30 minutes! Never had service like that ever. But. I would of given it 5 stars but the two receptionist (One was named Amy but I didn't get the name of the other one) were very rude to eachother and had an argument about who was busier then the other because neither wanted to help. And while waiting to see Mary they continued bickering about their "time sensitive" projects and how one was more important then the other

Attention my fellow Canadian, under any circumstances do not use the service from this HR & Block location or from any others rather. This location prepared my income tax return for year 2014 and they guaranteed any error or discrepancy is on them. At the time I took my return credit out front but there was a mistake in their calculations by $700 dollars. So moved to Montreal in the same month but H&R Block sent it to collection and I just recently found out last month.
H&R Block brags about preparing income tax for Canadians for the last 55 years and they are proud of errors free or they would cover theirs mistakes as they have it posted on their website. So, if you don't want to have your credit affected then run as far you can from them specially from this location (8-222 16 Avenue N. E, Calgary AB T2E 1J8 office # 50154)

Our tax expert Mary has been wonderful over the years. We have been a client for 20 years and she is very knowledgeable and is super helpful. We will continue to come back and see her as we trust in her.

I was stressed coming into the office because of getting a few years of taxes done. From the moment I walked in the door I was made to feel at ease and never felt judged. My tax professional, Carole, was so kind and friendly! If I could I would give her a 15 on a scale of 1 to 10

H&R is a joke, my taxes were very basic two t4’s and couldn’t be told how much it would cost till it the taxes were done because it’s computer generated, Cost me $170 all said and done. Will never go back to h&r again, it’s less money to take it to a accountant!

There is a Punjabi lady that works at the 16th Ave NW location. I was doing my return as per usual every year. Just a basic one, claiming my kid as I have been doing for the past 11 years with no problems ever. While I was sitting with someone else, She randomly stuck her head in the door, sticking her nose in asking questions about my return from no where. Sniffing around. Nobody even asked her to come in or asked for her help. She was not even the supervisor? ! Literally unsolicited rubber necking, my return was almost finished. After she came in, she had managed to turn it all around demanding all these UNNECESSARY, IRRELEVANT documentation (as later verified by another location). Making my return overly complicated and impossible to get that day. She was discourteous, unprofessional and ridiculously overpowering. Do not go here if you want to be subjected to that. I went to the 17th ave location and was treated much better and got my return in under an hour with no hassle or ridiculous demands as I have been a loyal customer for over 15 years. She also called her co-workers "incompetent" and that they would all be fired for doing things wrong all these years. Um, that's 11 different people you are insulting lady, saying they don't know what they are doing.very very inappropriate comment about fellow co-workers. Fire her! She is a looser.

Not impressed. My husband submitted his personal tax info to Carol from H&R on April 27. Due to the complexity of his return she needed a US accountant to help her do the return but promised to get it done by the 28th. Interestingly enough there’s only ONE US accountant for the whole northern part of the city. There are multiple senior staff (who can do the foreign taxes) but there’s only one who actually knows how to do it?
From the 28th until now (end of first week of May) we been trying to get a hold of her. We left several messages with the receptionist and it seems to fall under deaf ears.
They must’ve completed the tax because they asked for my husband signature. Afterwards we didn’t hear back.
I contacted them several times to confirm it was completed so I can finally pay for the taxes and the service (and all the late filing fees thanks the H&R Block). But I can’t get confirmation as Carol never seems to be in during the times the receptionist tells me she will be.
It’s really frustrating and unprofessional. I will not hire them again.
