Hughes Car Wash

I used the Car wash, I live in Calgary and everytime u visit Edmonton I use Hughes Car wash.its good and convenient but a bit pricy compared to the other places.
The Power dryer is not powerful.

Its good overall.

Stall was full of mud and the leaky brush blew foam all over my work dress clothes, I remembered they at one time were great.

The maintenance on the washing equipment is poor at best, wands missing ends, brush spewing more soap from the handle then the brush… today and two weeks ago it doesn’t change.

Price gouging (15-25 cents) at best in this gas station and all others in the area. Stay away from this area of gas station scammers. 5 stars for their car wash though.

This our first time there to wash the car and at first we got 4 tokens and they told us that every token is 1 minute and each 1 dollar at first the machine didn’t work we tried with 2 tokens then asked someone who was washing there car they put token then worked then we did go back to tell that it didn’t work they said I don’t believe and she was racist. It’s not a customer care place at all.

Good gas station, but they cut the time for the token machines for the car wash, Shuts off fast now if your not quick.

Sprayer was leaking. Had to move to a different bay. I asked the desk attendant for car wash tokens and he didn’t say a word to me just stared.

Be aware that propane is filled as a flat rate. There is no signage indicating this and the attendant didn’t say anything prior to topping up my tanks. What a rip off.

Good but very small amounts of soap come out and no timer to see how much you have left. Credit card machine at each bay is great though.

Came here to fill up a 5 lbs propane tank. $12! I should have gone to Costco. It only cost $2.80. Lesson learned. Will never come here for propane again.

Be careful, they charge an outrageous price for a propane fill up. Look elsewhere because it is just overpriced.

Rude cashiers. I went to use the car wash and after only washing the hood and grille of my car, the foam brush popped off the hose and sprayed all over my legs and feet and all over the ground. By the time i got somewhat cleaned up, got inside and explained what happened, all my time was expired. I had to ask the cashier if they could give me some tokens just to get my paid time back. He told me “I don’t know how long you took to come in here and tell us about the issue but it shouldn’t have taken more than 3 minutes so here is 3 tokens” handed them over and asked me to move stalls then walked away. No respect for a customer and no respect for my time or inconvenience, can’t even be bothered to give me back what I fully paid for the wash. Lots of other options in the area I’ll be sure to avoid this car wash

Used three separate times, in three different bays. Problems are consistent. Minimal soap during spray and what soap you do get is super thin and sheets right off the car instantly. Foaming brush has been inconsistent as one time was somewhat ok and other two times were very mediocre. Once again, thin, runny soap. No spot free rinse.

If you're just looking to spray off the mud and get going, this place will work. If you're looking for a nice wash and shine, search elsewhere.

Plenty of bays. Choice between coins and card in the stall. No time restrictions. Friendly staff. Always going here.

It's the only place I go to wash my car. The customer service is excellent and I can have things done quickly.

Staff did an amazing job keeping the long lineup moving. One of the better car wand washing facilities in Edmonton.

Just went and wasn't able to get my car clean. I had to use 3 different bays.

Bay 1: Leak at the connection, water dripped down the whole time and was not able to get pressure. Moved to bay 2.

Bay 2: Attempted to use the soap.surprise! Degreaser. Talked to the lady up front and she reimbursed me the token I had used. No complaints towards staff. Moved to bay 3.

Bay 3: Soap seemed weak. Left with dirt marks on my car. Decided to cut my losses and leave.

Save your time, drive to the Hughes on 60th ave/99th street. I've gone there so many times and never had issues.

Updating this review 4 years later: it’s the same. Convenient location, but extremely frustrating when it works 40-50% of the time. I can’t understand how this location still sucks 4 years later.

Plenty of bays. Reasonable rates. Easy options for paying.
Update 22 Sept 20: Now getting quite a bit shorter time per token, not really good value anymore.

The wash bays are always clean, and you seem to get a lot of time for the tokens you purchase. They do have provisions for RV vehicles etc. My only issue is that it can be difficult getting back on Parsons road with all the traffic

Staff were pretty cold. Vacuum was jammed, was pulling teeth to get coins to makeup for it. Battery died during wash and they didnt care or want to help. Nice fellow washing his truck helped me out, thanks stranger!

Best car wash on the south side. Usually really busy since word has gotten out on this little gem! But besides the wait times, the place is huge, lots of bays so you can usually find one open at any time. Cheapest place ive found so far. And the attendents do an amazing job of having the bays clean and ready for use so well done team!

Excellent coin wash.
The water spray is hot and powerful, even in the coldest winter days i could clean with 2 coins.
Also there is huge number of wash bays you can literally in and out in seconds.
I recommend this one to all.
Now they have credit card reader too.

Terrible water pressure and dated controls between settings.

Pay by card is nice but picking a time and having it run out is annoying. Or you overpay. Needs to be a continuous time that stops when you are done like every other car wash.

The mode selector was very loose and I couldn't tell which mode it was in. I tried using soap spray but it looked like it was just water. The timer is very short for each token put in. It felt like I was just spraying room temp water the whole time. They use to be decent but now it's just bad.

Water pressure is pretty low, feels like I have to spray longer than usual. You can pay using tap, which is better than coins, but you have to set what amount you want before hand, so you have to guess how long you're going to wash your car for. Would be better if you could pay your total after.

Normally I don't have a problem with Hughes truck and car wash but today I went there and there was no wax. So if you're going to wash your car of the salt that's on it, don't bother with the wax cycle.

DO NOT USE THE VACUUMS! I wanted to clean my seat and it dumped dirty water all over the inside! When I asked the staff she blew me off like I was the one at fault! The hose was hung up and the water and dirty mess came from inside the hose.

Touchless Wash Had No Soap. Went through a long wash, there was no soap the entire time. Car was still dirty and they refused to refund me the wash.

Nice open spaces to get your car or truck cleaned you can pick up coins in the store one coin means a dollar.

After trying this car wash multiple times and wasting many dollars, I’ve given up. Even if I pre-soak and go around the car several times with both soap and rinse this car wash never gets all the dirt off. I never use the brush because I don’t want to scratch my paint, and I suppose those who do are satisfied with this garbage car wash. There is no water pressure whatsoever. I just paid $18 to wash my car and it’s still got bugs, dirt in the wheels, and to top it off it left some scum on my headlights that turned them yellow. I’m a stickler for a clean car so I am very detailed when I wash. I’ll drive further and go to Em’s on 99th street from now on because at least I know my car will be clean and I’ll spend less money too.

I can't believe how many people actually think this is a good car wash! The water pressure is brutal, a garden hose has similar pressure. Pre soak takes $2 of standing around to finally come out if their tanks even have any in them. Then you wait another 2$ for the soap to finally come out. Then you spend another $15 trying to figure out if the rinse option is still spraying soap or if there's soap on the car still.

Also worth noting.their new scam of a tap pay.over guesstimate how much money you'll need to wash your card, tap your card, wash and turn the dual off. Hughes will still charge your card the full amount that you put in.

I called head office. 2 days in a row. They said someone would call me back.nothing. Typical public relations move, try to silence the ones they screw over.

Do it yourself car washes are always better than touch less. Good cleaning options with clear instructions. The place is a bit stuffy but it was winter so I'm not going to complain much.

The prices are good and the setup is efficient and easy to use. I wish they had a timer or alert buzzer to tell you your token is about to be out like at 1min.

10 dollars will get you a full wash. They should offer clothes/wipes to wipe down your car as the dry option is useless to be honest. A few attachments for the vacuum would be good too.
