Indigo - North Town Centre

George is the best! I had to return a book and buy another, and he was so quick and accommodating to my mom and i! This location is the best i’ve ever been to:) will be coming back soon! There was a very helpful lady who guided my mom and i to the history section as well, i wish i got her name.

Stores seem okay.the usual general selection.the parking lot! OMG the parking lot.you can experience what the Mad Max franchise feels like for yourself.

Harrison was very polite and helpful. He held the door for me and my three kids, and he had not started his shift yet. Later I ran into him to find a book, he went online and found out the book wasn't released yet.

Always our favorite place to spend time there.

The staff is very helpful and knowledgable! Found what I was looking for pretty quick. Another plus, the store was really clean.

I love this store. It is always neat and has a lot of stock. They carry quite a few magazines (though there has been less, not sure if that is covid related) and I always go here to check for crochet magazines. They usually have a few shelves full of clearance stuff at the back too. Staff is always helpful and friendly.

As an avid reader, I love visiting book stores and libraries as a way to wind down, relax and ease my racing mind. Especially during hard times like the one we are facing currently with the pandemic. Unfortunately my experience has been hindered in a significant way by the staff at this location. As a black person, I am almost too aware for my good, of all the ways I can be stereotyped and viewed in this world. To be followed around in such an obvious manner by the staff at this location was one of the most jarring things I've faced in my life. It was almost as if they weren't trying to hide that my presence is viewed as a "threat" and they must keep an eye out for whatever I might try and do. It is 2022, we must do better as a society. These blatant microaggressions will NOT and should NOT be tolerated anymore. This reflect extremely poorly on Indigo and I am not sure I feel comfortable coming back after this humiliating and disheartening experience. Perhaps some racial sensitivity training is needed, or just plain human decency.

This happened at the Northgate Inidigo at Jan 20th around 4: 00-5: 00pm if you wish to reprimand these employees.

You will find all kinds of things here but it is so pricy. Also things onsale are still expensive.

Great place to get books, toys, and gifts. Always go through sales and clearance sections, love it

Love this store! I can always find nice things to buy for a gift of any occassion. My daughter also likes their kids area and books

One of the few real bookstores left. Even if it is a large chain. Sometimes, I miss the good old days.

As an Avid Reader nothing beats the experience of going into a shop to look at books. They have a very good selection, with recommendations posted throughout the store. Store is clean, staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. This is the place you need to go for your next read.

Staff can be friendly, but not overly helpful. The selection of books are hit and miss. There usually is a long line up at the check out, and public bathrooms have been consistently closed since covid.
I personally like going to this Indigo location because it is quiet and usually has books available at this location (indicated online) compared to the other Indigo stores throughout Edmonton.

Went there and was followed around by a random employee. I am Asian and I look Indigenous, I can't help but feel like this was racial profiling. She literally followed me around the store, pretending to pick up books to read off the shelves just to keep an eye on me, and borderline harassed me when I was just browsing. I know it's Northgate (a shady area), but come on. Just plain disrespectful.

FYI, I was wearing a clean mask and clean clothes, I just had come from my highschool, I was polite and respectful, there was no reason for her to be suspicious of me.

I was looking for a book (for the love of men) and the sales rep stated there was one left. He led us straight to the area and he found it. They also now have paper bags. Flawless victory.

Went in with the wife looking for books on quilting. They had a great selection of quilting magazines with loads of patterns she could use.

Today I had planned on bringing my daughter here as she normally loves this place. She has Autism. Once we arrived, we were denied access because she would remove her mask every so often. She will keep it on for a few mins and take it off and its the same cycle.
I had explained to the lady standing at the door and she said we were unable to go in since my daughter won't keep her mask on at all times. Everywhere else I have taken her, they have been understanding and allow her into the store with no issue. I definalty will not be shopping here anymore.

Left the store today with a upset 3 year old with 3 other children because I was followed around being harrassed by the staff because the 3 year old mask kept slipping off his nose. Literally 3 times just being followed it was a very uncomfortable experience. Not welcoming.go to another location.

Ordered Klutz Smash Bot Battle kit online for pickup at store. Took a week to ship, and just picked it up yesterday. My kid opened the kit today to assemble the bots, and the included tube of glue is rock hard and unusable. Waited on hold for customer service rep for 15 minutes, and was offered a replacement/return (which I declined because I didn't want another tube of old glue!) or a $7 credit to my indigo account, which I accepted. So that was a nice gesture, and I hung up the phone feeling satisfied, as we have other glue at home to use. However, I am online now perusing other Klutz kits to purchase and use my $7 credit, only to see that our kit is now on sale for $17.49, which means that there is a difference of $7.88 between what I paid and what the item costs now. Am patiently (grr!) waiting in the online chat now to see if I can receive the price difference back as a refund or a credit. Will update accordingly once I receive an answer.

By the way, the store clerk who brought our item out to the car was Lucy, and she was very nice, attentive, and friendly. Definitely deserves a pat on the back!

Very mean people.i came in 6: 42 they close at 7 i was told i only had ten minutes so i better hurry.then a get approached twice to rush me along then i couldn’t even look at the 2 books i wanted to and when i left they didn’t even say have a nice day and they were already ripping the store apart for the night.very horrible service, i’ll never go back there.

Normally I've had a good experience at this store, but this experience very opposite. Ordered an item for curbside pick-up which indicated online that it WAS in stock. The following day I was informed it was not in stock and was being shipped. Item was for a birthday gift but arrived too late so item was cancelled/returned. An email indicated my refund was being processed, but 3 wks later I still have not received that refund. Went through Indigo's online chat to try to see where the problem was. They indicated it was busy, but never gave any updates of where you were in the cue. I stayed connected 3 hours before finally ending the chat without anyone from Indigo responding. Entire process from ordering to trying to get my refund has been frustrating and disappointing. Don't really think ordering from here is a good idea.

Surprise! Making up more polices then the Alberta government. Seen a lady stand in line, was clearly seen by the security guard watching the line, and when she finally got in the store she was stopped by staff saying she couldn’t wear that shield. Even though she stated she couldn’t wear a mask.

Was told sorry store policy.

Oh well guess I’ll shop elsewhere. I hope she does to when this is over. Lots of other book stores to shop at.

Love supporting a local Indigo, but this place is staffed by a bunch of grumpy people. Beware them not offering any help and ignoring you.

Nice clean on the newer side of indigos pretty good selection of stuff, but not the beat in the city that’s for sure, much more open concept to the floor plan, staff friendly and helpful, only thing I hate is how long a line can take to disappear so I can just go up and pay right away.

My husband has health issues so wears a mask, but under his nose. He was asked to put it over. We decided to leave instead. Found the same item on Amazon cheaper. Thanks for nothing

So I took my 8-year-old daughter to the bookstore today special needs and we got kicked out because she can't wear a mask. I was told to leave her in the car something seriously wrong with the manager in that store completely discriminating against people with special needs

Been here a few times over the years. They always tend to have happy stuff on hand. They generally have a better selection of stuff than I've seen in some of the other Indigo stores.
The only thing I could recommend is that they should have their clearance sections a little more forward so that people have access to it a little quicker than trying to track it down.

Good selection of books for all ages. Helpful staff. Could do with an expanded collection of large print books.

It was a quick visit but all the staff were friendly and polite. I needed help finding a specific book and asked the first person I saw who was quick to help and guide me in the right direction. Very good service!

Sunday at 4: 45 November 15th 2020 they kicked me and my 8-year-old daughter out of the store because my special needs daughter wouldn't wear a mask they told me I can leave her in the car

My favorite book store. Ample parking. Lots of nice things. It is attached to Starbucks. That adds to its charm.

Great selection of books and a helpful staff. Immediately upon entering they have someone at the door offering hand sanitizer! I'm impressed that they are taking covid seriously. Swift check out and polite staff combine to make a great experience!

Very knowledgeable staff, safety precautions taken with covid, cleanliness throughout entire store. I questioned a book for my club and the young girl helping me (so sad I didn't get her name) went above and beyond to help me find it. On the floor and in the back, asked co-workers and then put it on hold for me at another location. I sincerely appreciate all the effort her and her coworkers put in for me, and living south I still make it a point to take note of my book list and get them at this location every few months - what made me do start doing that was in the beginning of covid when they only did curb side, my order came in the nicest gift bag, with a thank you card for shopping there still and the staff were so SO friendly at a distance (left a great review back then too!)

The guy with the glasses who gives out some hand sanitizer at the front when you walk in was very friendly and kind. The cashier that I dealt with yesterday to check out didn't even say hello when I was ready to check out

Friendly staff, they help me find the books I was looking for, good layout for social distancing, and it's a bookstore a place I love!

Such a great store. Perfect for finding unforgettable gifts for others and for yourself. I love their decor, notebooks, and journals. I also like to check out their clearance/sale section. I usually find some gems!

The location and selection are fairly good. However, the staff on were not so great. One sales lady followed me and a friend throughout the store and when I asked for help locating a particular genre she told me that the store was set up by authors (clearly not) so if I didnt know an author in the genre she was unable to help me. To top it off I was double charged at the till and didnt notice til I started wrapping my gifts the day after. Likely I will just do my shopping online when it comes to indigo.

Indigo is great for books and knowledge of staff. However, it is very hard to see books 50% less on indigo website vs in-store, especially with free shipping.

Always an adventure when you come here! Lots to look at. I spent my whole afternoon here with my gf and we had a blast. Nice that we could take a break at the Starbucks and enjoy a nice latte.

Love coming here to get lost in their book, paper, and home sections. Always a great place to stop by if you need a last minute gift. There's always a good sale rack hidden somewhere which is definitely worth the gander. I appreciate that the staff don't really approach you while you shop, but they're always ready to help when you flag one down.

Great selection of books; unless I'm looking for something obscure, they always have what I'm looking for. The layout is pretty clear, I always know what's in the section. If I can't find what I'm looking for, the computer will tell me whether they have it, or if it's something that needs to be ordered in. I go here a few times a month.
