My experience with intact insurance is frustrating. I ask to cancel my policy and Jennifer said she canceled my policy on 3rd November but they deduct payment on November 10th. I am trying to call them from three days for my refund and no one is picking up call…. I tried all the extensions but no one is available. Lacey was my first broker and she is always away from office.

Wish I could rate 0 stars.

Canceled my policy 1 month before renewal and still continued to charge me more then 500 dollars. Don't even bother calling because it takes forever to get picked up.

Probably the worst customer service experience I've had. I called the privacy department inquiring communication processes for claim submissions and they tell me i've called the wrong department and they don't handle privacy matters.
This is after i was told by the claims department that they can't do anything for me. Not a fan.

Intact Insurance: A Pathetic Display of Customer Disregard

I have never encountered a more inept and heartless insurance company than Intact Insurance. It's appalling how they conveniently ignore their premium-paying customers once they are in need. Let me share my horrific experience with this disgraceful entity.

At first, everything seemed fine – they were more than willing to accept my hard-earned money as a dutiful premium-paying customer. But when the time came for them to fulfill their end of the bargain, they turned their backs on me faster than a cat chasing a laser pointer.

Their so-called "customer service" is nothing more than a cruel facade. It's a well-rehearsed act they put on to lull you into a false sense of security. The moment you raise a legitimate concern or file a claim, it's as if you've become invisible to them. Emails go unanswered, phone calls are ignored, and any attempt to get through to a real human being is futile.

It's evident that Intact Insurance couldn't care less about their customers' wellbeing. They'd rather watch you struggle, dealing with your issues alone, all while they laugh their way to the bank with your money. They are more interested in safeguarding their profits than providing the support they promised when you signed on with them.

The extent of their apathy is truly astonishing. It's almost as if they derive sadistic pleasure from seeing their clients suffer through challenging times. Perhaps they enjoy the power trip of holding all the cards and leaving you in the dark, vulnerable and desperate.

I cannot stress enough how infuriating it is to be treated this way after years of loyalty and consistent payments. The lack of empathy and understanding from Intact Insurance is truly soul-crushing. One would think that being a reliable and responsible customer would earn you some respect, but alas, with Intact Insurance, you're just another dollar sign to exploit.

In conclusion, I implore anyone considering Intact Insurance to steer clear at all costs. Save yourself the headaches, frustration, and utter disrespect that comes with dealing with this abysmal excuse for an insurance provider. There are countless other companies out there that actually value their customers and are ready to stand by them when they are needed most – something Intact Insurance clearly has no intention of doing.

My parents truck was stolen from the front of their house August 2022, the truck was used to rob a bank and than set on fire. They found the truck a month later in Saskatchewan totally burned. Intact insurance refuses to settle the claim and refuses to pay them out. Intact is still charging them premiums on a truck they no longer own. Intact refuses to provide any
information via email. AVOID THEM!

Nothing but bad experiences with customer service team, who clearly aren't getting the training they need thanks to bad management. They failed to pass on information multiple times when changes were made to my account/policy. Finally got fed up amd decided to cancel. I got 4 different quotes from 4 different people for cancellation policies, because the brokers don't have access to that information. So you don't know what you're going to be charged until it's done and irreversible. Final number ended up different from all of the broker guesses. Happy to be rid of them.

DO NOT deal with this insurance company! They will make it extremely difficult for you to make a small claim like a broken side mirror from a hit and run on a parking lot and do whatever it takes to deny your claim. What more a big claim? I have been with them for decades and because of this I have lost trust, faith and confidence in this company and took my business elsewhere. They are just good at collecting premiums but fall short on helping you. Response to the response below: Do not fall for this rubber stamp, auto-generated response. It will get you nowhere.

Wouldn’t recommend to anyone unless your wealthy. To start out I have a 2003 pickup with 400k/Kms. I pay 365$ per month no collision coverage. Intact is currently charging me around 900$ a year for a 9 over speeding ticket since I’m considered a dangerous driver over this. They consider a ticket from 0-45 km over the speed limit the same class which isn’t reasonable. Last November my truck got broken into they smashed the door locks and ignition and all the trim around it. Intact couldn’t seem to care any less about getting this sorted. I took it upon myself to fix it so I had a drivable vehicle while they took their sweet time. Once I was fed up and contracted them again they finally got the ball rolling only to find out they couldn’t do anything for me. The items in the truck I can partially understand but the damages were not repaired or anything. Fast forward 3 months and I notice my policy went up. Look into it and it went up to cover all the “thefts” that had been happening here. Anyway company is a complete joke I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

So I canceled my auto insurance policy with them over a month ago they took the payment of $150 and they kept it and now this month they're telling me I still owe them $59 they're going to take more money out do not buy from these Crooks they are Crooks they are thieves they will steal from you and they will steal all your money run run away I have to go to the bank today to put a block on them or they're just going to keep taking money from me
Do not use this insurance. They are crooks and will lie, cheat and steal you're money from you.
RUN. RUN.and don't look back.

This Insurance Company is terrible to deal with a year ago my vehicle was broken into and I’m still waiting for the work to be finished all that’s left to do is install the door panel that was damaged but intact does want to pay the body shop I’ve call them and ask why they are not covering the repairs and can’t get a straight answer I’ve been waiting a week for a supervisor or just the adjuster to phone me to no avail all I want is my vehicle repaired to the condition it was before but intact won’t pay terrible company if you can find insurance somewhere else I would highly recommend they don’t care about you just your money

2. Got much better deal @ TD insurance.
3. They always ask the total amount upfront.
4. Cancelled my policy on 3 wks after my term. They charged me 3 months.

I’ve been with intact insurance for years and once broker link takes over I get jacked up car insurance prices that are completely unreasonable and unaffordable by anyone! Customer service is good. But they are scamming people when you could go to any other insurance company and get way cheaper prices. I would not recommend at all. $600 cancellation fee is ridiculous, this should be a fixed fee not whatever they feel like making you pay. Would never get insurance with them again.

I had a car insurance with them after I canceled my insurance, intact took 1100 $ from my bank account been 3 months still they didn’t refund my money back.

If I could give it a negative rating o would. The absolute worst insurance company. We have been trying to cancel our policy and get intact to back date the payments which they agreed to but talk about dragging their feet and withholding funds to get more information (which is not allowed). It’s taken 45 days and counting to cancel our policy.

We have also been fighting with them for the last 6 years over our total loss. They told us that 8 months was enough time to rebuild and they cut our living allowance off. There was a wild fire that went through our city. No one in that city rebuilt in 8 months, nothing but withhold and rip off.

This company is the biggest fraud you could deal with. I had a tenant insurance with them for over 4 years. Never had a claim or anything, for some reason they kept increasing the amount without notice and no explanation. When I finally found out, I decided to call Td and see what my options were with them. Not only Td gave me a policy 5 times cheaper than them they also gave me a discount on my vehicle premium. So I went ahead and cancelled my policy with intact. At my surprise they tried to still charge me when I didn’t plan on it and had no money in my account.which resulted to a NSF FEE at the bank. 2 weeks later, intact took money out of my account and charged me a 40$fee on top of it, after a lady from their customer service told me on the phone that they we’re gonna wave the nsf fee because there was a misunderstanding about cancelling my policy.

I recently opened a claim with Intact Insurance after discovering that my main bathroom shower was leaking and causing water damage to my main floor ceiling. My claims representative Rachel Dafoe was absolutely useless during this process and was far more concerned with making it clear exactly what Intact Insurance would NOT cover than guiding me through the process. At no point did I get the impression that Rachel/Intact actually cared to help me fix my water leak to prevent further loss and repair the water damage.

Rachel expressed to me over and over again via the phone & email that Intact is only responsible for water damage and that finding and repairing the leak was going to be on me. She sent someone out from Onside Restoration, a subsidiary of Intact, to assess the water damage. The estimator from Onside Restoration provided the same experience, focusing on the small water stain on the main floor ceiling because that was the only visible water damage and showing no interest in figuring out where the water was leaking from. He estimated $18,000~ to repair the 3' x 2' spot on my ceiling. At this point Rachel Dafoe & Onside Restoration proceeded to follow up frequently to ask if I was ready for the ceiling to be repaired. After many times of telling them that I was not ready because I still had to find the leak and repair it first, I eventually had to tell them to stop contacting me until I contact them because it was getting annoying. Their only concern was getting the claim closed as quickly as possible and not assisting me to fix the leak which, IF NOT REPAIRED CORRECTLY, would potentially cause MORE DAMAGE and MORE LOSS for Intact.

In the end, after a year of dealing with numerous contractors to find the leak, assess the repair costs, and plan the renovation, I spent $18,000 (out of my own pocket) to repair the shower. At no point during this process was Intact involved or even remotely helpful. My plumber referred me to someone that was able to repair the ceiling for $400. I took a ~$14,000 cash settlement from Intact. For the price that Intact would have paid Onside Restoration to repair the ceiling they could have fixed my shower AND repaired the ceiling and left with a happy client. But instead they just continue to show why nobody likes insurance companies.

I'd like to give a big THANKS FOR NOTHING to Intact and Rachel Dafoe.

I had my catalytic convertor stolen and had to go through insurance for the first ever in 31 years and let me tell you it has been a nightmare. They don't care how long it takes.i have been without my car for 5 days already. Good luck getting ahold of anyone.

I recently had my car fixed and at the body shop (Simplicity Car Care Empire Downtown), they damaged my vehicle twice.they repaired the damage from rear ending it but denied responsibility for the damage behind the front bumper AND the insurance did not accept their responsibility for the damage, so I had to pay. It was impossible for me to have caused the damage as there was no exterior damage done to cause the interior cracks on the vehicle. I also saved the insurance company $3000+ by not taking a rental during the 11 week! Repair.so going forward in the future I will take full advantage of whatever I can instead of trying to be such an honest and considerate customer.

This company is 100 percent scam company. They increased my policy $400 a month without my permission because I did not used their live location tracking app (my drive) and now they want $397 for cancellation. They never covered you for glass and Deduct table is $1000. So they always want WIN-WIN situation. Please think 1000 time before using this scammer company. I wish Alberta have their own Government insurance company like ICBC.

Be cautious if you are dealing with Intact on a total loss for a settlement. If you have a lean with a car dealership on a vehicle, ensure that you request a separate payment be sent to your finance company/dealership. I received a cheque with both my name and the dealership and it is a useless cheque as I cannot cash it being that both my name and the dealership is noted as the payee. Make sure to review the process with your adjuster to have a separate payment sent to you and your dealership/finance company!

I was with you guys for a year. Unfortunately my rate went up even though I had no claim so I changed companies with a lower rate but the cheapest rates normally change every year. It is a challenge to stay with one company for insurance in general if you want the lowest rate or one of the lowest rates.

Bunch of spammers! Lesson learned never provide your phone number for quotes. These goofs haven't stopped calling me since I did a tenant insurance quote back in May. The quote was laughable, $80 per month? ! For what? ! I have very few things of true value, I just need basic, basic insurance and more the liability. So I needless to say did not buy the quote and no amount of blocking these goofs does any good. And they don't seem to get that I don't need their insurance, like me not answering my phone obviously I don't want the policy they need to f-off!

Have used this company for 27 years. No real big problems till contractor over sprayed insulation and damaged three vehicles. After 100 days later, there no resolution yet. Intact want's us to pay our deductable on a claim that was zero our fault. The vehicles were on our property parked; covered with spray foam insulation from a contractor working next door. Intact says contractor refuses to take responsibilty. Wow wonder how this is even allowed. Intact has done nothing but give excuses and stall on the waivering of our deductables. Bad thing is, the contractor has his insurance with intact as well. When our policies are up we will not be giving them our 9,000 of premiums from this house per year

I hate this company so much! We had a water leakage that ruined the whole bathroom, the kitchen ceiling, part of the hallway and our bedroom with mold and stains. The company rejected our claim and we were left with a huge expense and devastation after being their customers for almost 20 years. Not only that, they added our son to our auto policy without our consent when what I wanted to know first was the price of the premium increase if we added him so we can think about it and do more research. When I asked them to remove our son, they said we have to sign the forms, which of course sounded scary with all this fine print mumbo jumbo. Who would buy a TV without knowing the price in advance? It was almost like a scam. I really want to give them zero star, too.

This company has been the worst experience of my life.

I was in a motorcycle accident on September 24th of 2021. The other insurance company has already declared no contest and will be covering all the costs of this claim, meaning this isn't my fault and it won't cost Intact a dime of their own money.

Intact has delayed constantly telling me they didn't receive the emails for information they requested, (and I only find that out after I ask about progress on the file after waiting for weeks or months), even though I have all the emails to proove they recieved them.

It's now 10 months later and they still haven't seen my bike. The first adjuster didn't once return a call or email and the second one likes to blame everything on her or myself for not sending her information that I had already sent.

They've even called me asking if I'd picked it up from the repair shop, (obviously not) but then they tell me they don't know if it's a write off or not because no one has even looked at it. They even didn't know where it was until March when I finally bothered them enough to care and it didn't get moved to the repair shop until May.

These people are so disconnected and incompetent at their jobs I question how they are even in business. Just look at the other reviews.

I wish I could rate Intact as a negative 10 star review. Stay as far from this dumpster fire as you can.

They never seem to follow up. I asked an agent to follow up with me and she did not. I don't like that you dont have a specific agent assigned to your file it is so impersonal and hard to reach anyone.

Dealing with claims agent on the phone and she started swearing at me. This is so unprofessional. This insurance company is really unprofessional when they send the same claims agent to you and as well as the the other side.

I have tenant insurance with this company (specifically with water damage coverage up to $30,000). Our apartment building's foundation cracked and water seeped through, flooding our home and ruining thousands of dollars of personal effects. We were then evicted because construction needs to take place (should be covered under additional living expenses).
After 3 days of calling (without returning our calls), Intact will not insure ANY of these things. These events are not our fault, this is not negligence on my behalf. But now we are without a home and on the road, couch-surfing until we can find somewhere suitable to stay. We are down thousands of dollars and Intact is certain it is not their responsibility to insure that.

I will never use Intact again. I will never recommend them. What a loss this has been.

I had a great experience with Intact Insurance. I had questions regarding my homeowners coverage and the agent, Grace, was very helpful and knowledgeable. She really helped me understand and "de-code" the jargon.
