Be warned Intact provides exceptionally poor service. Pay more to insure elsewhere. We insured vehicles through Intact for several years without any claim. We have now had to work through a claim with Intact as our insurer through the “no fault” process. Intact came in with a valuation well below market value then insisted they offered fair value without any transparency or consideration of the vehicles. We viewed a vehicle they used for valuation which was in exceptionally poor condition but they insisted was worth more than ours. They sit in an office and never view vehicles first hand. They insist their valuation is “market” but they never get involved in purchasing in the market. We were forced to use the provincial regulated dispute resolution at our own expense. On the first offer, their independent appraiser came in over 60% higher than what Intact called fair as their internal assessors and managers decided. The final settlement was 82% higher than what they insisted earlier the same day was fair. We regard an 82% error as more than mild. It is either intentional or incompetent and we will be pursuing this through their internal and the provincial complaints process.

Good luck getting your claim dealt with. It took months with an incompetent adjuster and 4 requests for a new adjuster before I could get my claim dealt with. Repeated requests to escalate (at least 3) were ignored. They have zero service.

Completely incompetent staff. The woman dealing with my claim knows absolutely nothing about vehicles. She was supposed to send me an email weeks ago so I could file some information and she doesn't answer her phone or return phone calls. Dealing with her has been a bigger headache than what I needed the insurance company for. Would avoid this company if you can.

Horrible! I'm thinking this might be a scam of a company because it is IMPOSSIBLE to get ahold of anyone. I'm trying to follow-up on a claim and it seems that there is only one person who runs this company and his voicemail is all you'll get.

Customer claim service is HORRIBLE! Took 7 weeks for my 0% liability claim to be processed. Calls to the claims department always goes to voice-mail, they never return calls or emails. Also they are owing me money from a tow truck bill that should be reimbursed.

Very highest quote, every time I am trying to find a good quote but. Not any chance, experience more than 20years, no claims. Really it is stupid, if I moved from Ontario to New Brunswick and then to Alberta, everytime I heard same answer, you are new without experience in this province.

Should be called “No Tact Insurance”

Wish I had checked these reviews before using them. Most pathetic customer service I’ve ever encountered. Opened a claim and nobody called me back. Had to call them, then resorted to email which still never answered my questions.

Was on a tight timeline to get repairs done and for 3 weeks they ignored my question on whether it would be covered.

After spending $7k to get the problem fixed they out of the blue said it wouldn’t be covered without even seeing the reports. Spent a lot more money on the sure fix than I would have had I known they wouldn’t cover it.

I had an issue with a claim handled by Intact. Called Tuesday and the helpful person said that my claim number was from a system they no longer use BUT.she managed to find my info and said she would get someone on the problem. I asked if I should get another claim number so there wouldn't be any issue next time I called. She said, "No worries. They had it all sorted out. "

A few days later after no follow up, I called again and talked to another rep - Kity Chung - who said my claim was from a system they no longer use.then said nothing could be found. Then said I should try sending an email. When I explained that I had already been through this, she said she couldn't help and said I should send an email. Finally I said what is the email address and she said. "Sorry I can't help with that. "

After being on hold for 20 minutes and then dealing with this incompetence I went online and found a random email address. There has been no response.

I've had to make 2 different claims in the last 3 months. And on both claims I've received nothing but a run around. I too have been with them for well over 15 years and haven't made a single claim in that time, and when you need them nothing. They tell you one thing and do another. Change who I'm dealing with in the middle and have to start over. I even emailed my rep every week for 4 weeks only to get sent to someone else and start over. I dont know if it's the company or the employees but something needs to change!

Just called them and talked to the receptionist, who’s English skills were worse than mine. After I had to ask (politely) a couple of times to repeat the number she was mumbling into the phone she yelled the number very loud and annoyed at me and immediately hung up.
One would expect a little more customer service from your “receptionist”, INTACT.

Intact was wonderful for almost 10 years, they were purely amazing when I had a hidden hit and run occur in March 2022 after I had just purchased a new vehicle. However, we are not customers anymore due to them claiming that we never paid one month, when we did through credit card rather than the normal withdrawal from my bank account. So, I was on the phone with Intact due to an email that made zero sense to us on June 11th, they stated we owed them just less than $530 and some change, said that if we did not pay the $247 and few cents, they would cut us off. Is this how they treat a loyal customer of nearly a decade? Unfortunately, yes they do, they cared about nothing but money, money, money. We did not know how to pay the $248 as the email and phone conversation were very vague, we thought it would just withdraw on our regular date which was June 15th. Apparently not. They just immediately cut us off as customers, and said they would mail us a cheque of $100 oh dear, so that was June 17th, and no cheque in sight even though we live in the same city as the main Intact Building. How odd. So I called them up today, and they hung up on me as soon as I said I did not have a policy with them anymore. How lovely good to know not to recommend Intact to anyone else, and we are now happy with another insurance so far.

One agent named Irfan Tharani, a lawyer before he now has become an insurance agent for intact. He was responsible for his part in the government pension conspiracy that used me and my mental health to complete the pension conspiracy that set new Alberta Legislation.

With the help of crooked judges and the entire Judicial system of course.

USWA and UUWA and Tharani acting as lawyer for the USWA working through Fosters LLP.
The united Steelworkers legal counsel IRFAN THARANI, (who was only called to the bar in 2015) specifically for acting as a lawyer for big insurance companies. I do believe Tharani was hired by the united Steelworkers union, to help protect the integrity of the Evraz/United Steelworkers pension plan. Then used my mental health against me and caused me great mental anguish.
USWA paid off my lawyers thru Tharani acting as legal counsel for Mr. Ross (a 26 year employee of Evraz) working thru crooked Fosters LLP. Only until my Dower and pension were stolen of course.

For all other divorce proceedings (after stealing my stuff) was handled by crooked Crozier then Shaften (partner at Fosters LLP) sister to the homewrecker Amy who stole my husband and my assets, with the help of Tharani and Shaften and Fosters LLP and my unethical lawyers hired to protect me.
Help from every lawyer and judge involved in stealing my assets to give to her homewrecker sister Amy.
Proving prejudiced from the day my husband chose to abandon me in a split second.

Intact agent Tharani, working through Fosters LLP stole my Dower and pension division by deceit and thievery (with help from a crooked Judicial system)
The set up a 2018 LUBIANESKY vs GAZDAG case ruling that changed Alberta legislation for all future pension divisions. Was a scam from day one. With Tharani right smack dab in the middle of all the thievery.

Intact uses illegal maneuvers and that's the only reason they win disputes. They'll screw whoever they have to no matter the circumstances. They don't care who they crush in the process of their deceit.
Stay away from Intact and Fosters and others. Some Intact agents seem to have no morals, ethics or care for society rules in general.

Irfan Tharani.if he's an agent your up against. Watch your back and pay attention to EVERY detail. Lawyers work with lawyers and judges. YOU HAVE TO BE YOUR OWN LAWYER. Intact is as crooked as they come.

If you're on the receiving end.then Tharani is your man. He makes mistakes but he's good at deception so.
Those up against him. BEWARE!

Find me on IG and ask me for my evidence. Bring on the privacy issues for whomevers names are shown. Please do file a lawsuit against me.so I can show my proof to the Supreme Court of Canada.
Obviously the Calgary Court of Queens Bench is not being ethical or moral or fair. Even the Appeal board is biased and unethical. NO ONE should have faith in the current Judicial system and trust in people like Irfan Tharani.

I have been with this company for 15 years. They increased my cars insurance this year more than double. It seems they do not have any loyalty for customers. Canadian Direct was the best, but under Intact things went in opposite direction.

Doesn’t respond to calls/emails, doesn’t call back, isn’t there for you or your best interest. Told us one thing in an email in regards to an insurance claim and then another over the phone. Took them almost a month to figure out how to go about an insurance claim regarding a car accident. Will be switching insurance companies due to poor customer service.

ZERO Stars! The worst service I have ever received in my life! As I sit here on hold for over an 1.5 hours, it has been 28 days since the accident and we are yet to even get a rental vehicle. Other Party was at fault, ran a stop sign and as it turns out the other Party also has their insurance with Intact. It has been a losing battle from the start. Each time I FINALLY get through to speak with somebody I get bumped to another representative who hasn't a clue and told they will call me back.
I was then given # and extension to speak with the Manger Eric Licis, still no callback from him. You have been warned.

Do not use this company! They don't even deserve the one star I've given them. First claim took almost 2 years to settle, my second claim looks like I will need to hire a lawyer to settle. They have dragged me along on a leash like a lazy dog for almost 1.5 years. If they don't want to cover my claim just say so! Instead they just make appointments and don't show up to do the work. Today all my policies will be canceled.

Horrible response with Intact. Still deciding if I need to involve RCMP regarding fraud. Had to speak with at least 15 agents and asked directly to speak with supervisors twice. Not able to speak with managers and left voicemails that were never returned. Very disconcerting. Complicated claim that needed details and worries about fraud from rental company. We pay insurance fees every month hoping we don’t need it. I hadn’t needed to ask in more than 20 years. The saddest part was that customer service is no longer part of the equation with Intact. It shouldn’t matter what or when things happen. Claims are claims and we pay for support, hoping not to need it but expect it when we do. Customer service is pivotal and key to a company that can thrive in the new economy. My family and friends will be moving to a company who can offer what we pay for…effective, kind and helpful customer service in the times when we most need it. Do yourself a favour and find another company. You may not need help for years, but when you do, you need someone who understands customer service. Intact is not that company.

Worst experience I have
ever experienced in my life. They lie, they lie, they lie. Very unprofessional. I have been ran around and lied to so many times. Filed a claim July 02,2021. Still no update. They made me take my truck three times for estimates. Will not return phone calls. My claim agent has been changed several times as well as I have had several managers assigned to the file. Everyone keeps passing the buck saying someone will contact me. I am so frustrated time to move on to a different company. Why pay for a service you can trust. So much for being there when you need them

This company overcharges and gives random "fees" without notice or reason. I finally cancelled after 3 years of dealing with this and they charged me $200 for canceling. AVOID INTACT ***** Terrible company.

Do not use this company! Paid for insurance for 15yrs with no claims ever. Made a single claim as I was hit by another car (not at fault) and there was 3 witnesses who wrote statements with police. Intact not only did not return any of my calls but did not help me with my claim against the other person, tried to rip me off for my $65 000 car to get repaired, lied to me and said it was repaired and when I called the dealership, intact had never even sent to in! They had no record of repair on my VIN#. (My car is under warranty and can only be repaired at the dealership)
I then escalated the issue to intacts management who continued to lie to me (luckily everything is in writing), and when I got no where with management, I went to the ombudsman.
Now mind you, this whole process took over 13 months and I was paying full insurance and a monthly $800 car payment, unable to even drive my car. Switched to TD now and its literally night and day between the companies.

I don’t imagine that dealing with insurance companies is ever a great experience. But my not at fault accident was a bit of a headache to deal with. Intact did not communicate well with the garage & I had to step in as an intermediary which is not my job! That’s why I pay for insurance…. I also had paid upfront for a replacement part and have been waiting 6 months to be reimbursed for it.

My house flooded at 4am on September 10,2021. Intact was prompt with sending someone for the initial assessment. However, we stayed in our half ripped up, mouldy home for 2 weeks because no one from Intact (ESPECIALLY our broker) bothered to even look at the file. We left multiple voice messages and sent multiple emails, with no response on whether this would even be covered or not. When we finally reached our broker, she had clearly not even opened our file and spent most of the phone conversation in silence. No apology, no explanation, nothing. Not only has her gross negligence left us in limbo for 2 weeks, but my poor dog (a 9 y/o 90lb chocolate lab) slipped on the bare concrete that was left, and landed really hard on his hip. Since pets are “technically” property, and that fall was 100% avoidable had we not still been there, they should be paying for his vet bills. But we all know that won’t happen. I do NOT recommend this insurance company to anyone. Garbage.

I meant to call another company for an home insurance quote but ended up with Intact talking to Sal. I am surprised at the attitude I received for a potential new customer. I realize the details needed for an accurate quote which I had no issue except with the lack of professionalism. I asked to speak with someone else to continue but was told to hang up and call back. Moved on and signed up with another company.

Got commercial insurance via intact, trying to get answers for questions unsuccessfully. Broker emailed and called days ago with no response and when I called, I was told they could not speak to me, brutal. Am waiting to find out so we can get customers into our new business. Once they get paid, there's no one home.

I've been with these guys and have had to make claims when other people have hit me. These guys make the whole experience smooth as ice. They explain all the steps in a very simple way without making you feel stupid. All the partners they use are extremely competent. If your on the edge, make these guys your insurance company. You will not regret it.

I have been with Intact for about 4 years now. Everytime I had an issue, I had to speak to 5 different people about it since no one could give me a direct answer. I also had a very bad experience with the personal lines account executive, Dawn Werezak. Due to personal reasons, I was unable to make some of my payments. Dawn did not even bother to take the time and try to meet me halfway. When I told them that it's sad that they didn't even make an effort and that I was taking my business elsewhere, they couldn't care less. The response I got was "thank you for telling me you're going elsewhere for your insurance. " Very arrogant customer service, especially on Dawns end. Save your energy and go with an insurance company who actually gives a damn about their clients

Gbenga Adanlowa, is the worst advisor you can find. Gives me insurance on my motorcycle, knew about my past tickets etc and I had to pay premium. A month later, decides I’m not qualified enough to have their services and cancels my policy. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT DEAL WITH Gbenga Adanlowa! Or Intact Insurance. Absolutely garbage.

I have been with Intact for a long time and never had hardly any claims. My car was in the hail storm and i have never been treated so unreasonably and unfairly by Intact. They don't care about their clients. I don't trust me them anymore. I didn't realize how bad of an insurance company they are, till i had to deal with them with the with the hail damage on my car. I don't recommend them at all. Beware!

I want to give "Lisa Harb" adjustment specialist or case manager at Intact Insurance in Calg Alberta a 5 star rating more so than the company! I had the pleasure of speaking with this amazing employee of Intacts! I was never a fan of the insurance company when i was with them but after speaking with Lisa on the phone she makes me want to go back. She went above and beyond anwsering all my questions and concerns. Wow she knows customer service and she is great! Intact is so Lucky to have her on her team. Thanks for the amazing service Lisa and keep up the good work! Thank you for everything.

I had auto insurance with this company and by far the worst experience I've ever had denied claims with no justification, no rental while the claim was happening. I had full coverage and there was nothing done. Raises the question where does your money go with this company if they will not do anything for you to help you. Highly recommend finding anywhere else but here.

My mom (who is a senior) was in a car accident and intact was not judgmental, only friendly and supportive. The claim process was quick and easy. As the car was old is ended up being a right off and the payout was very fair given to my mom very promptly with regular updates on the stage at which the claim was at. All and all a very positive experience. Thank you

I needed insurance on a cube van to move across the country. My agent was fairly busy so i told her a day or 2 would be okay. It's a week later and not only do i not have my insurance card i get redirected to her voicemail. So no response at all. I still have no insurance card and need to take the cube van to a mechanic tomorrow for him to look over. If I cancel the appointment with my mechanic i will have to reschedule and wait another week. I am moving in a week and need time to pack. I tried to be understanding and am now paying dearly for it. I am not impressed at all with this slow service.

I just had my car totalled and everyone I worked with was courteous and professional. The process was quick and seamless. No hassles in getting a reasonable settlement. Their rates are also very competitive. I highly recommend them!

If I could give lower than one star I would.
I have little to no contact with the company that has sent me ever increasing bills over the past 4 years. The longest conversation was year one: I was planning on switching to a different company because they raised my rate substantially without cause; aside from a dubious and eye rolling explanation about "Alberta weather and storms the past few years".

They chose to not raise it, as long as I would stay on another year.

Year 3 they doubled that 10$ a month increase they cancelled in year two, to 20$. Y'know make up for year two.

I was locked in a job without any hope of savings, and being bullied into my Insurance payments because a vehicle for me is neccessary for work and family obligations. Now, my job has changed, I'm in a MUCH more stable position despite the interference from the money hoarding pigs at intact.

I haven't cancelled the policy yet, but.but the unnecessary greed of the seemingly intentional, and coordinated yearly increases of my insurance policy (legal?) have created a desire in me to wish hell existed for real, just so they could burn in it.

I'm sorry to say but this insurance just taking money from the people, but when it come to pay it is very hard for them to pay out the money. I had a car accident, what was a fault customer who was insured in intact insurance and in this case was 100% his fault, with out my consent my Lawyer and intact insurance Lawyer did settlement agreement, the money what they want to pay it look like for whiplash and I end up from this car accident with disability, I have degenerative Lumbar Spine Disease, and concussion syndrome, intact insurance Lawyer want to rush to pay out small amount money, because He know, the money what he offered not covered my bodily injury from this a car accident on his client 100%fault. I have appealed to the Queen bench Court in Calgary and I have to find another Lawyer for my case maybe someone who read this know a wise Lawyer I'm asking for help because intact insurance Lawyer does not want to pay money what I deserve for my bodily injury what I have from the car accident on 100% intact insurance client fault, it is such a insurance to take money from client but if they have to pay they do not want to.

Sadly to say, I have had two very significant claims with my home and trailer. I was vey impressed with the immediate attention and great service I received for both claims. Was very well taken care of during very stressful losses. The contractors they hired for the one was amazing! I was in great hands and the job was finished on schedule! That doesn't usually happen with any contractors!

Nothing but great things to say. Water service main to my property broke over the Christmas holidays. Claims adjuster Katie Norman, went out of her way to ensure all the documentation she needed could be provided to expedite the process. She gave clear instructions to myself and the contractor of what is required.
I spoke with Katie on a Friday before Christmas at 5 pm and she answered her phone and was able to save me days of coordination efforts.
Katie also informed me of the steps I may need to take in the spring if there is further damage from all the water to the lawn and adjacent concrete at the residence when the ground thaws.
I tell my friends and neighbors of this experience and they are currently checking their policies to see if they have the same coverage, they intend to be customers of yours.

Poorly managed company and managers. They like to brag that they don't lay anyone off during a recession, cause it is recession proof! Everyone needs insurance! The fact of the matter is, it is a high turn over company, because of how poorly managed it is. Management can't even keep their own personnel files organized, as they are constantly misfiling everyone's personnel records with everyone else's. It really is pathetic, and Allan is one of the worst offenders there.and yet upper management does nothing. Happy New Year Allan, I hope management goes through your filing cabinet and you lose your job now! Perhaps this review will save some other poor soul from your deceit and corruption.

I had a car accident and I am very impressed and pleased of their service. They act very fast and they made me feel assured of everything. I wil stay with Intact Insurance for the rest of my life, even in regards of the prices comparison. I am very impressed and THANK YOU is not enough, I wish I can hug each one of them and tell them how I am very much thankful of this crew. First they lost my claim record which I report the accident in two hour, second they want me to signed the proof of loss document with $500 deductible which they find out I am not at fault after 2 month. In the meant time they keep email me if I don't process the claim they will charge the storage fee for vehicle. I pass the case to my lawyer and they find out it's not my fault for the accident, think if you don't have a lawyer what does it look like! I make a complain to the office and revived no apology and they just want to close that claim as fast as they can. They said they cannot locate the other party that's why I still held responsible for the deductible, and also the claim they have different department who's handle different problem. Totally disappointed with this company and for $200 difference between this and AMA I rather go back there after everything is settle.

Our car received significant hail damage and Intact was so easy to deal with. Every employee I spoke with was kind and helpful and followed up when promised. This was the first time I'd ever done a claim; Intact exceeded expectations and made us feel like valued customers.

I have been an Intact insurance customer for over a decade. Had my first claim on July 4th 2018. My trailer burnt and was a total loss. The service I received was excellent! Only hours after the fire they etransfered some money to my bank account. They were helpful through the whole claims process. And have settled the claim already about 90 day later. I expected the claim to take much longer and have to fight to get it settled. I will continue to be an Intact customer and highly recommend them!

Whatever you do, don't insure with Intact (aka. BelairDirect, BrokerLink). One of the worst companies I've ever had to deal with. The commercial they have about empathy should be considered false advertising. They didn't even send out an adjuster, they asked the towing company to send pictures (btw the towing company had never seen this happen before). I had to go up to a claims manager to get anywhere with them, and I had already contacted an attorney. It took 53 days to resolve a total loss. AutoSource is a subcontractor they use to determine the value of a vehicle. They don't even try to match your vehicle mileage and options (which Intact required me to do when I told them the amount was way off).

I'm a home owner, these guys are the worst insurance company I've ever had to deal with for home and car. More times that not they would not cover me for my claim. And refused to insure my vandalized car that was in my garage uninsured because I was told it would be under house insurance. Again, NOT. They just take your MO ey but never want to accept any claims. Scam of you ask me. After 4 years it's time to get rid of them from my life. Intact your had enough of my money that lines your pockets. Then they sent an adjuster from Texas to Alberta. Guess I paid for that too. Disgusted
