We camped the last week of camp season this year. It was so good to have so much privacy. The showers were a bit on the hot side. My toddlers literally hoped in and out in a matter of 20-30 seconds because it was too hot for them. Other than that, everything was in excelent conditions. Clean bathrooms and outhouses. There’s various playgrounds around the camp. One is right by the beach side. We enjoyed swimming in the lake, although access was hard it was worth it.
Jarvis Bay Provincial Campground was pretty good. No beach to go swim at, but excellent shower / washroom facilities. The camp stall was very good, with lots of trees between camp stalls. Really excellent trails for walking, which we used to go to the lake. If there was a beach, it would of gotten a 4 star rating. I’d definitely go there again.
Reservations, check-in and check-out were quick and efficient. The nearby washroom facilities were very clean. We had an excellent cloudless night for observing the Perseid meteor shower and taking some astrophotography. The site we had was quite large, so it gave a great view of the sky.
Lovely campsite and wonderful staff. The sites are large, private and (the majority) have great tree/ shade cover. Bathrooms/ showers were clean, water was hot - overall wonderful camping experience! We’ll be back next summer!
Excellent place to tent. Powered sites and some are very large that you can fit 2 x 10 person tents and still have lots of extra space. There is only one spot with flush toilets and showers as all others are outhouses. Would recommend this place to anyone.
Most of the campsites have a good amount of distance and privacy from neighbours, and the washroom and shower facilities are all very clean. Great spot and awesome trails with views of the lake.
I love this camping ground. The washrooms/shower rooms were well maintained clean. The trails is good area for morning walk exercise. The trail is overlooking the river. The playground is clean and nice activity for the kids plus there is a close store for if your are craving for an ice cream.
Great campground. Only downside for me is that there is no beach. But town beach is a short drive away. Beautiful trails, our campsite was huge, clean bathrooms and the lake is clean and clear.
As someone who is a first-timer in camping, Jarvis Bay Campground really made it a great experience for me. The area is very cozy, neat, and organized. The washroom near our campground is also clean and maintained which really impressed me. Sylvan Lake is also close, but you would still need a car to get there. If you ever need anything else, there’s Canadian Tire, Walmart, liquor stores, and convenience stores within a 5-minute drive too. I definitely recommend this place and I can’t wait to try camping again for a much longer period.
Jarvis has been one of my favorite campsites to spend time at in July. Although the weather can be unpredictable, it’s worth it for the hot summer days. Just in case of an emergency, make sure to have a plan in place for the small chance of a tornado hitting the area
The campground has nice big sites that are well separated from each other by lots of trees and bushes. As most campsites do now, they are all gravel, which was a downside for tenting. The bathrooms have flush toilets and running water (but also spiders) ; they are spacious, clean and well lit. Though no beach access, there is a nice trail along the edge of the lake. There are lots of potable water taps throughout, and a big play park. It was fairly quiet (we were there in June), but a wild, loud group started up around 10: 30 pm near us and nobody appeared to quiet them until around 12: 30 am (unless they quit on their own!). Happily, they have restricted generator hours.
I was only there for a few hours visiting family that were camping. I had never been there before, but the signs on the hwy were very good for directions. The staff member at the gate was busy with another person at the opposite window but acknowledged me, saying she would be there in a minute. That, I really appreciate. When she did get to me, she was very friendly and knowledgeable. She told me exactly which road to turn down and to follow the numbers of the sites. The site numbers were clearly marked. Each site had trees surrounding it, giving lots of privacy. I could see myself going back to this campground and staying.
KR Campground Maintenance sure does a nice job of keeping Jarvis Bay Provincial Campground clean and tidy. Thank you Callie for doing such a great job. We such enjoyed our stay. So clean and fresh it was amazing.
This campground is clean quiet and has lots of trees with private sites. Power at every site I believe, you'll have to go to sylvan if you want to swim.
Great sites. Good sized sites with thick trees. Most of them are very private. Fairly well packed and level. Powered sites only, but there is a dump station and potable water station available. No real lake access. A couple steep paths down to the water, but no beach.
