Our family of four did the 2-hour trail ride at Jasper Riding Stables in mid-July and we had a delightful time. Our tour guide was kind and had a bubbly personality. She shared a lot of local information and pointed out interesting sights along the way. We are not experienced riders and had no problem being comfortable for the duration of the ride. We never felt unsafe. The horses are well-trained to have a variety of riders and seemed to be very easygoing. We really enjoyed the diverse terrain included on the trail. There were stunning vistas, gorgeous lakes, and shaded areas with beautiful aspen trees. We had a great time and would definitely do a trail ride like this again!

Took the 1hr ride. It was so interesting to see the different personalities of the horses. We were blessed with great weather and great views that day. Sarah was our guide and she was amazing! I would absolutely do it again if I’m in the area, but will take the 2hr ride next time. I had so much fun!

This activity was the perfect way to recharge after a few days of hiking, from both a rider and non-rider. From the moment you step onto the grounds, you're warmly greeted by smiling faces (and if you're lucky, a cute dog), which makes the experience enjoyable from the very start. We opted for the 1-hour trail, but honestly, we could have happily spent the entire day there. The views and trail are absolutely breathtaking, and you'll get to see and learn about the horses' personalities on the trail. The entire experience will leave you with a boost of serotonin and on cloud-9. The team even allowed us to capture an engagement photo with one of their horses. Emily, our guide, was absolutely fantastic - we could have chatted with her all day. Don't miss out on Jasper Riding Stables!

Very (too) touristy! The horses are tied up all day long in the sun, with their saddles, bits and anti-grazing muzzle, they work every day and do not have water at will! What is more, their meadows are muddy and small (relative to their numbers).
Horses are not bicycles, they are sentient beings: they need as much water as they want, freedom, rest and so on. As there are no other stables close to Jasper, if you want to go for a ride, prefer the good old-fashioned walk!

My wife is an experienced horserider, I have never sat on a horse. So what a perfect way to have my first ride. We had a beautiful hour long ride out to one of the most spectacular viewpoints. Horses were friendly and obeyed my novice instructions politely. Our guide was knowledgeable and chatted throughout.

Had a wonderful time with guide Chris!
Very informative and lots of cool information (and here I thought I knew everything)
Thanks for the great time!

We did the 1.25 hour ride with Emily as our guide. My 8 year old declared it to be the best activity in our whole Banff/Jasper trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our ride and we could tell the horses were well taken off. The trail ride was comfortable for beginners.

Great ride for a first time beginer, slow and calm horses and entertaining guide. I would say 1,25hrs trip is more than enough for first time as your knees and bottom will get sore and you cannot go faster at any point.

Our group of six of had an unforgettable adventure with guides Ava and Chris in Jasper National Park. They were so friendly and knowledgable. The experience was simply phenomenal. Despite our initial nerves, the guides and staff went above and beyond to provide us confidence and share the unparalleled beauty of the park. As we traversed along the ridge, a breathtaking view of the valley unfolded before our eyes. We saw a black bear along the way which added an extra layer of wonder to the journey. It truly felt like stepping back in time, immersing ourselves in the spirit of the old west while horseback riding.

To our surprise, the experience was unanimously agreed upon by everyone in our group that this was the highlight of our entire trip. I wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone seeking a remarkable adventure in Jasper National Park.

Great riding experience, with terrific views of the lakes below.
Not for the adrenaline-rush seekers, it's a walking trail on calm horses. Chris, our guide, was informative on everything around us. Kids (12-16) all enjoyed the 1-hour ride.

Giving this a 1 star because I just found out they let their best employee go.

We did this for our honeymoon the ride was stunning but our guide Savannah was even better! She is so knowledgeable and friendly and taught us so much through the trip, and also has a great sense of humour. 10/10! 100% would have recommended but only if you had Savannah as your guide, she made our trip what it was! Thank you so much Savannah!

Don’t go to Jasper riding stables without her. She was by far the best part of the experience and by far the nicest person that worked there. Such a shame those stables can’t see a good employee when they have one. Not worth going to without her there.

Absolutely horrible. Heard of animal abuse from workers, and the management is horrible. They're rude to customers. Horses are hardly teahered, which is a big safety risk in its self. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

Ailish was a fantastic guide she dealt with 4 non riders very well and made it a memorable experience. A lovely trail with great views and wildlife.

A fantastic experience from start to finish. We did the 3 hour ride which is better if you have ridden before due to the steeper path. The views were stunning! They have shorter rides for beginners. Our guide Emily was great. It was definitely a highlight of our trip!

We went out a group of 6 of us. Ava and Chris were our guides. And oh man was this an amazing time. We were all a little nervous but the guides and staff did an amazing job of making us feel confident and sharing the beauty of Jasper National Park. The path takes us a long a ridge where you get this amazing view of the valley. We saw wildlife along the way which was incredible. The feeling of being in the old west, traversing the land by horseback was very real! I did not expect to have so much fun. Everyone on our trip said that that was the highlight of the trip. Check out my photos to help tell the story! I fully recommend the experience.

Perfect for beginners! Staffs were incredible and knowledgeable, the horses were very calm and they know what they’re doing. The trail and scenery were also great.

Our guide Chris was a wealth of information and very friendly. We did the 1 hour ride. The views from the Pyramid Bench were spectacular. We will definately do this ride again.

I took the 2-hour Cottonwood loop trail ride with Jasper Stables - fantastic views and my guide was very knowledgeable and interesting to chat with.
My horse was a bit tired of the whole affair - I'm not sure how long he'd been saddled and waiting in the sun for the ride - but seemed healthy and friendly enough.
This outfit does have one annoying aspect - it's very commercialised, so they ask to take your photos with the horse and then try to charge you $20 for copies of them, and seem rather surprised if you decline; you also get follow-up emails asking you to tip your guide, on top of the cost of the tour itself.
