Juniper Hotel

This review is for the Juniper Bistro (we didn't stay at the hotel). It fantastic! The view was excellent and the food was on point.

Fantastic views over the mountains and Banff - being slightly higher up, you get some great views. They offer a shuttle bus into town, but having a car is helpful because otherwise it’s a 30 minute walk to Banff Main Street. Worth having a room with a mountain view and balcony. The staff on reception were very friendly and helpful - thank you Emre (hopefully spelled correctly!). The restaurant was nice with lovely views and great food. Clarence, who was our server, was excellent, taking photos and making conversation.

Really love this hotel. Location is very convenient, right off the highway 1 and about 2 - 3 km from Banff city center.
Located in a quiet, secluded area, in the woods. Has plenty of parking space.
This hotel has great open patio where you can see sunrises and sunsets, and enjoy glass of wine and / or dinner.
Restaurant in this hotel is very good, has good selection on the menu and very tasty and delicious dishes, and desserts, and friendly waitresses.
Staff is Very Friendly and helpful, Especially font desk host - Emre. Really appreciate his help with every question.
Rooms are simple but spacious, beds are big and comfortable.
Also, as a note, there are good hiking trails right by this hotel and for safety hotels provides bear spray for you.
I definitely recommend it for the stay near Banff.

The front desk staff is very thoughtful and always smiling. Special thanks to Emre for going above and beyond to greet customers passing through the lobby. There were a couple glitches at check-in but the front desk staff did their best to offer options to help. I stayed in a cabin and enjoyed the privacy. Having full size appliances and a wood burning fireplace made for a cozy and relaxing experience. I recommend this hotel. The staff at the front desk and the food servers go the extra mile to provide wonderful customer service.

Arrived after a late night and had to wait 30 min to check in because they do a system restart that takes 40 mins. What year is it, making your tired guests wait 40 min to check in because you haven’t updated your system in years. Ridiculous

The food here is amazing! Very well presented, and very nice staff. Will definitely be back!

A beautiful space, with clean rooms, the hotel is very accommodating and the staff are very sweet and generous especially Clearance!

Love this hotel. Great classy vintage vibe throughout. Valley suites have an awesome view, cozy fireplace and jet tub. Juniper Bistro is a delight. Warm and inviting, excellent service from all staff. Recommend the Salmon Benny and Alpine Melt.

I thought for the price the rooms were great. Clean, organized, beds are soft. It was pretty quiet except for the heat. It’s normal, I just found it a little loud when it came on. The connected restaurant is expensive, good food just pricey. It’s close to the highway but I didn’t hear any traffic noise. The scenery if you’re facing the highway is breathtaking. Can been seen from the restaurant as well. I don’t have animals but others had dogs. It’s a great place to go for pets because you can walk them anywhere outside. I would stay here again for sure, front desk staff were courteous and pleasant. Even when I overheard someone being difficult. The hotel is older but it looks like they are trying to keep up with some newer renovations. Being clean and quiet is most important too me and it was. Cable TV with basic channels, no on demand. It’s adequate but could use updating if you’re the kind of person that watches a lot of TV. Internet is open and speed was good.

Love this location the Bistro is a gem. Our waitress Jessica made our experience unforgettable.

Juniper Hotel is at a perfect location from Banff Town.
The staff were extremely friendly. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel which was top quality, however we do feel the dinner is slightly over priced at this hotel. We had the most friendly waitress - Kassy who attended to us on our stay and she went above and beyond to ensure we were fed and watered!

Rooms are clean and have everything you need but agree the rooms are a little outdated, however the views of the mountains from the room totally made the stay!

Would definitely recommend this hotel for your stay in Banff!

Staff was quite friendly over the phone and were able to assist with booking issues.
The room was a bit small, and missing some items.i. E.both set of curtains (we didn't have the lining, so if you open the curtain you could see all outside and everyone could see you)
Unfortunately, there were some shuttle issues, but besides that most staff were accommodating and the restaurant was amazing.

Helpful hotel staff, friendly shuttle drivers, amazing chefs and amazing servers. The restaurant is incredible and has good breakfast and espresso drinks. The location is amazing looking over Banff and Vermillion lakes. Be aware the restaurant is at the end of the hall, with rooms on either side, spring for a 2nd floor and a view room. We were first room on the first floor and we heard everything and everyone that went down our hallway. All in all, happy with the complimentary shuttles, complimentary bikes & stellar dining with a view, our room was not the stand out.

Hotel directly beside highway. Was very loud all the time. Room was dirty. Floors weren't clean. Found clothes and shoes under bed from previous tenant. There were pistachio shells on the steps leading to the second floor for two days. The shuttle forgot us downtown at our pickup time. Wouldn't stay here again. Staff was pushy about making reservations at restaurant. I don't understand the recent positive reviews.

Great hotel. Very nice location. Free shuttle to Banf downtown is a nice touch. Stayed there for 3 nights (family of 4). 100% recomendation!

Look elsewhere! This property is dated, the grounds are poorly taken care of, the rooms are dated, it's overpriced and they messed up our very simple request of a main Mountain View for a very special occasion that they assured would be taken care of. We have traveled all over Canmore and Banff and will not return here ever again due to these issues!

Super comfy beds and the rooms were clean. Location was very convenient to downtown Banff the hotel provided bikes and hiking backpacks that we could use. They were included with the price of our room. We will definitely be coming back!

Not sure why this hotel has such high reviews. The restaurant was decent but the hotel was bad. The property is overgrown. The sign leading to the hotel is covered with plant growth and the road is falling apart. The claim is that it is a "natural property" but there was very little, if any, grooming whatsoever so all the native plants (that were planted by the Juniper) are just being overgrown with weeds. The rooms are not as represented in the photographs (small and loud) and there is a highway directly in front of (and below) the hotel, which is hidden in all marketing of the "great views". Further, the shuttle service is extremely limited for a hotel this far away from town.

Overall, I was embarrassed to drive my wife onto this property.

We loved this hotel was out of the busy downtown Banff area. To our surprise, they offered a chauffeured ride to/from Banff in a new SUV with a panoramic roof. They dropped us off and picked us up so we could skip the tiresome hunt for a parking spot. The amazing panoramic views from our balcony were amazing. The only downside is the highway runs right by the hotel, so it can make it challenging to spend a relaxing night on the balcony. At night we could hear the road noise, but it was just background noise to us. I would stay here again if we come back!

The food was great, but they didn’t let us sit on the patio because of chance of rain and it didn’t even rain. It was little slow service wise but good food!

Stayed for four nights but paid for five. I realized that we needed to be two hours north and asked the hotel to cancel one night. They still made me pay for it “sorry no cancellations’ but still was able to rent the room to someone else.
Decent hotel but seems unfair given how busy it is. Wouldn’t recommend unless you know you won’t have any changes or special needs.
