Kawa Espresso Bar

Limited space to sit if you go in the evenings on a weekend. Quite loud for a coffee shop. Drinks are quite sweet. Decent overall

This is one of my favourite coffee shops in Calgary. It’s open late, got a small-town feel to it, and I love their ambience. Would recommend 10/10!

Americano is good and fresh brewed. Cake was old maybe three or four days old. Place is good for socializing on the weekend a but of Jazz.

Had a steamed milk and mango coconut muffin. Both were great.
The space is lovey and they have a great selection.

The food is absolutely lovely here. I stopped in to get some tea, and ended up getting the Grown Up Grilled Cheese. It’s delicious, filling, and comes with a salad! It’s well worth $12

My favorite study spot with good hours. The staff are always super welcoming and the art adds a great vibe to the place. My only gripe is the lack of outlets but if anything that just means I want to be there longer it guess

Kawa is a great coffee shop but it would be nice if there were more outlets scattered throughout the store.

Went here for a meeting and was not expecting them to also serve food which I must say was delicious. Not many places serve perogies or do it well so kudos to them. On the coffee side could be a little better but overall a solid experience.

Today I'm just inform the coffee maker or (barista) the guy i told him, and he gave me very Bad answer. You do not know anything about coffe. I don't care about money i like this place but this guy make me angry every time. (The barista lady was so nice and professional) but this guy is so bad and he don't know how to deal with customer complain.i'm so sorry about my review but i will never visit any more kawa Espresso bar.me and all my friends.

A real coffee house experience/vibe, that you must make the effort to try! Great food, coffee, along with excellent service.the lamb shank is delicious and half the price of most restaurants and the latte is done expertly.

Music was way too loud, at least for the day time. The cookie I had was hard. The bathroom had absolutely no toilet paper or paper towel either.

Cappuccino was delicious!

Loved the atmosphere, but I found my americano middling and, thus, a little overpriced. This would be a great place for an extended stay to read or work, but maybe not the best choice if your number one priority is delicious coffee.

Great coffee at a great price; nice outside sitting area. Good selection of great tasting food.

Last night I came here to check it out and stay to study but turns out it is not really a study-friendly store yet this is not a reason why im giving 1 star. When I came in I was not greeted at all, all i received was stares that made me feel uncomfortable, no recommendation, service was lousy hence i didnt gave tips at all. Did not even bother to call my drink when it was ready.smh

Great coffee. Workers were a bit rude, though. I know it was the morning rush, but don't mock customers. I could hear you. I just wanted a coffee, but that ruined my experience. I won't be back.

I had high expectations for this place. The walk was great and the breezy partly sunny day lent itself to a mid afternoon snack.

Although requesting an iced drink, three times, I was still served a hot drink. A hot drink that since I did not request I have not sampled. The warm day is much more suited to a cool drink

The snack, an Apple streudel, was underwhelming. The texture was ok. The apples were crisp-ish. The tartness was not there, but the sweetness was. The flakiness was just ok.

There are other coffee shops in the area which deserve to be tried. I’ll be giving them a try.

Ok seems like a decent joint, but if you are a espresso bar and you serve a cappuccino in a 16oz cup with off the shelf Safeway bought oatmilk, not even a batista blend, I think you should take the espresso out of your name, because face it you're just a bar and thats cool.

Lovely shop, delicious pastry. Crowded inside these pandemic days. Nice patio is helpful, if weather cooperates.

Love their hot chocolate and iced drinks. Bathrooms are hit or miss when it comes to cleanliness.

Nice place, has lots of different kinds of food, and not too badly overpriced. Great service, was extremely quick even though the place was busy. I had the avocado toast, extreme toffee frappe, and espresso, and all of them were excellent. It’s unique to Calgary in that it has good quality food and a nice atmosphere, but isn’t flooded with aesthetic-searching people. I’d recommend this cafe! Also if you want to make sure you get a table, you can book a reservation:)

Good coffee, nice staff. Can be quite busy and sometimes noisy (just because of how many people can be there at times!). Love that it's open late! Don't like how the pastries are exposed on the counter where customers line up to order (I think they may have recently put up plexiglass to block them, and sometimes they have a glass covering over them, but these are not always in place).

Solid coffee, reasonable prices, good selection of snacks/pastries.

After being burnt by small town coffee I am pleased to say the latte here is the perfect temperature and you may drink as soon as you receive it.

Enough space between tables, like the patio table along the street.
I will say the breakfast were a bit pricey but it's the downtown style! Lol

They did not sanitize our table until we asked for it for 2 times. The table was just used by someone else and it was not sanitized until we asked.
The carrot cake was not fresh at all. I do not recommend this place.

A very nice place to hangout or catch up with a friend. The atmosphere is very relaxing and laid back. The coffees are delicious and the food selection is broad enough to always satisfy my needs. Covid precautions are very good here. Wifi is fine and it is not noisy here which is a real plus. Try their Empanada Bison with Side Salad Mmmm good.

Great coffee and great atmosphere, but some of their staff don’t wear masks which is super frustrating, especially considering that is against the law right now.

Please be careful when eating here. Although their food looks very appetizing, it is not worth the food poisoning. I ordered their salmon sandwich that was recommended and last night I could not get off the toilet. The owner was very impolite as well when taking orders. He clearly does not know the word Respect.

Great coffee shop. They accept me even thou I am exempt from wearing a mask. It’s a good feeling as too many places do not respect this.

All the food we've tried at Kawa was just fantastic. Shakshouka, soups, tortillas, desserts. Can't recommend this place highly enough!
And yea - coffee is also VERY good.

Very cozy and beautiful cafe! The drinks were great, hot, and served in beautiful mugs. The cake and chocolate nut bar were absolutely delicious! The atmosphere is very cozy and the everything is so aesthetic! We went for the jazz Saturday session and throughly enjoyed the music and lovely crowd. Will definitely come again! Was pretty crowded but we were able to grab a table!

Great espresso bar! Their Cafe Niko is a definite winner if you're looking for a nice latte! Good atmosphere and nice staff

They always have a variety of pastries and are all worth the try - all of the ones I’ve tried have been very yummy so far.

I was pleasantly surprised by how adorable it is inside Kawa Espresso bar. They have so many scrumptious treats to choose from and skilled baristas who can make beautiful latte art. They are also the first coffee bar I've visited in Calgary to have a clover machine! I can't wait to go back and try some delicious coffee over the clover.
