Absolutely amazing! Could not recommend more highly. The food was absolutely fantastic and the customer service was even better. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will definitely be coming back.
Had an amazing dinner experience tonight. Food was very good. I had the salmon and it was spot on.
Will come back with friends for sure. The owner came and chatted with us and explained the history of the restaurant. Very nice young man. Lovely place.
The chicken parmigiana is fantastic, I have ordered from here a few times and they generally don't skimp out on the meat. Really great sandwiches. Great place for lunch.
I happily attended La Breeza on date night and had an exceptional experience. The food, atmosphere and company was all incredible. I highly recommend La Breeza.
La Brezza is back! New chef, new menu, new management. Outdoor dinning. This restaurant has made a remarkable comeback. The new menu is lighter and more flavourful. The portion sizes are perfect. The menu is neither too large nor too small but well balanced. Portion sizes are perfect. Many of the dishes have a light but flavourful cherry tomato base. Burrata is offered throughout the menu. The current chef is from northern Italy and this is reflected in the quality of the dishes.
The staff were so welcoming and the food was amazing! If I could give this place 10 stars I would! I tried most of the pastas and the chicken parm entrée, all were fantastic
Quaint and a long time Calgary landmark for Italian food in Bridgeland. Reservations are recommended on busier nights. Great big spacious sunny patio. Smaller menu but tasty nonetheless. Cozy inside and warm. Had a great meal and our server was courteous and friendly. Definitely worth checking out and the menu is great and they will always try and accommodate your needs and requests. Miss you Marco!
The food I had was tasteless. To start with, we had the brochette and this tasted like it came from a can. The serving was very small for the the price. For the main dish I endured the worst tasting linguine and seafood dish I've ever tasted. Seafood was so overcooked it was like chewing on a tire. Absolutely no taste to the sauce however the pasta was cooked Al dente. The tiramisu was tasty but it looked like we was served the bottom scrapings. The service was good. The waitress almost got our order correct. The atmosphere was nice however the tables were so close together the waitress had to reach over our food or go around two other tables to get to the other side of our table. Overall I will not go back to this restaurant as it is very expensive for what you receive!
Best Italian food in the city! They have tons of delicious gluten free options, I was pleasantly surprised to find out their calamari can be done gluten free, definitely a must when picking out an appetizer. I had the burrata pasta and absolutely loved it, the pasta was cooked perfectly (not mushy at all like what us GF folks are used to). Everything was so fresh and yummy!
Terrible service, mediocre food with way too heavy seasoning, crowded seating, and sloppy presentation. Overall this place cut so many corners that it felt more like a train station in Bangladash than a sit-down restaurant.
We simply did not have a good experience at this restaurant as it was operating way over capacity. The server was constantly bumping into my seat, missed orders, and walked by the table multiple times and ignored my empty water glass for 10+ minutes. When I finally tried to get (perhaps) another server's attention (my throat was being pickled by the second), she sporadically raised her finger to swat me away, and turned her back on me with no further communications. I did not get water for another 10 minutes. That said, I can’t really blame her because she must have been under so much stress because she had to serve more tables than she can handle.
The appetizers looked like they were threw together, but they tasted OK. The pasta looked like a pasta but it was VERY SALTY. The generous amount of salt combined with the lack of water made the meal hard to enjoy.
Booked a reservation for dinner 24th December 7: 45 with special Christmas Eve menu, received email confirmation, arrived few minutes early and the place was closed! Absolutely horrible considering I came from across town and now have nowhere nice to eat tonight!
Gaslighting, bizarre, and unprofessional service. The main issue was that our server gave an entree to a different table in error while everyone else at our table had their food. Server apologized profusely while ensuring that the meal would come in '8 minutes' but it came in around 20. The missing entree did not come until 5 other guests already finished their meal.
When asked "The food has not come yet, and everyone else has finished their food, what can be done about this? " Server apologized repeatedly and emphasized how busy it was, and said that is why she kept apologizing. Server offered dessert to person missing their meal and they accepted. I (writer) overheard server at the cash register say to a co-worker in a backhanded tone 'now they want dessert'. As if we were in the wrong. Quite unprofessional - why talk about guests like that when you had just offered us this solution?
Before we left, the server again apologized and thanked us for our patience, a happy Christmas, but out of the blue.offered to shake our hands? Why? I am still quite confused at this whole interaction.
I would recommend management to review staffing levels and to re-educate staff on common standards of communication
Seating was too crowded and the servers struggled to navigate around seats. It was difficult to enjoy the meal when my chair was being bumped into very 3-4 minutes. Also at the end of the meal we asked for the bill several times and were ignored, we had to get up and get our coats on for the staff to realize we wanted to leave. Food was average, nothing expectational.
I've been in Calgary 45 years, always heard of La Brezza being special.finally went. I thought the food had small portion and was underwhelming for the price. I'd give it a 3 1 / 2 stars
My personal favourite restaurant in the city. As someone with nearly a decade in the service industry, this place is a breathe of fresh air. Pleasant and welcoming staff will make you feel at home. The food is so delicious that I entrusted my meal to the staffs choice every visit and was never disappointed. Food made with care and fine Italian wine paired with makes for a great experience.
Food was good, dining experience not so. I was expecting a more homey Italian experience. I think the server must have been quite new. Wasn't all that familiar with the offerings. A number of items on the menu were not available the evening that we were there.
When I was living in calgary 38 years ago attending University. This beautiful restaurant opened. I finally ate there. Delicious delicious food, excellent service. I know I will definitely return. The steak, the veal tender delicious. It was excellence
Pretty disappointing. We were so excited to try this place after hearing about it from our new neighbourhood. I had the prawn linguine and my husband had the veal parmigiana. The veggies were over done and not strained. For a $30 pasta it only had 3 prawns and highly lacked flavour. Service was amazing but unfortunately I won’t come back just for that. Too bad.
My family and I ate here while visiting in Calgary, because it was the first one that came up on Google. We are so glad this is the one we tried. The staff are excellent, the place is quaint and comfy, and the food was incredible. Everyone was super happy- between the four of us we ate the Caprese salad, the lasagna, veal Parmesan, spaghetti Agoli, and the manicotti with a crème brûlée for dessert.
Absolutely recommend La Brezza and we plan on coming back in the future.
Calamari was quite good but that’s about it. Mussels were sour, lasagna was under cooked, veal was like mush. Saltiest pasta I’ve ever eaten in my life. Huge portion of lasagna though. Plates chipped and restaurant is old. Service was friendly but constantly having to ask for cutlery and water which never came. Everyone asking constantly how’s the food. If it’s good you won’t have to ask. Place needs a makeover and an intervention. Has great potential to be an awesome place but wasn’t tonight.
My boyfriend went here last night as a celebration to the fact we can actually go out now! We walk in and we are immediately greeted by our waiter by first name. (We made reservations but we felt like home the second we walked in) we got seated at a perfect spot by the window. (We now consider this our spot when we come back:) ) the food was absolutely incredible! Like good we’ve never tasted before. The bruschetta was MAGNIFICENT! The only reason for the 4 star is the wine said it was $9.99 on the menu but came out to $17.99 on the bill. Not thrilled with that but other then that we now consider this place our new spot!
Our big problem was when my wife took her mask off and was told by the waiter "Ah! There's that pretty face. You shouldn't hide it behind cloth. " he then apologized to me and not her.
Even If the food were the best we had ever had, we still wouldn't go back.
Oh my goodness. My fiancé and I came here for my birthday and we’re treated so well by our server. The food was UNBELIEVABLE. The calamari was the best we have ever had, and our meal (which our server suggested) was full of flavour and didn’t leave us feeling heavy and gross. Of course, the tiramisu did not disappoint. So happy we tried this authentic Italian restaurant. We are definitely coming back and telling everyone about it! Thank you for a lovely evening.:)
We had reservations. If you don't, then don't be surprised if they have to turn you away. The restaurant is very small and cozy, homey, and quite classy (but not lofty or overly posh). The lighting is low and romantic, and the proprietors are lovely & accommodating. Most importantly, the food is stellar. Keep in mind that they're not microwaving anything from what I could see. No heat lamps, and no reheating of frozen prepared dishes. As far as I could tell, everything was freshly prepared. This means you should expect a longer wait than at other restaurants. Your strategy should therefore be to order one of their hors d'oeuvres along with your drinks. Have a glass of wine, sample some grilled Brussels sprouts, and enjoy the company of your partner while you wait. Take your time, and savour everything. Don't rush. And don't expect anything to come at a bargain price. You're paying for an authentic dining experience, so plan to spend more here than you would at somewhere else inferior. It's worth it.
Fantastic food! Worth every penny! The penne arrabiata was amazing, and the calamari is phenomenal, and that's coming from someone who is not usually a fan of seafood!
It was excellent. I drive by all the time and say I would want to go. I finally did tonight and was not disappointed, food was fantastic, service was great and overall just a good atmosphere. I will definitely be back in the future.
Very nice restaurant, ambiance is nice and it is family friendly. Food is 4 stars, very good but not over the top. I have been several times and the food and service is constantly good. I will be going again.
Decided to give this place a second chance. First time was terrible. Second time I stuck to simple appetizers in hopes that it would be decent. Soggy Nachos, rubbery calamari, stale bruschetta bread. Sorry Brezza, need to be better. Won’t be back.
Very disappointed in the food. The calamari was very rubbery and tasteless suggesting it was the Sysco pre battered frozen heat and serve type. The shrimp appie was over cooked. Lasagna was a bunch of noodles with the occasional smear of meat sauce and ricotta on a few of the noodles. The atmosphere on the patio with the band was really good however. Service was lacking
Went to try out La Brezza’s new patio because we’ve heard great things about the restaurant pre-covid. The service was mediocre (we think the server forgot to put our order in), and the bill was $150 (before tip) for 4 cocktails, 2 appetizers, and 2 salads with chicken. The food quality we would describe as “I could easily make something better at home” and was extremely disappointing given the price.
We booked a rez, showed up on time and were seated. There were only two other tables in the main area and we were in sight of bar and all staff rushing back and forth.
We sat there for 15 minutes with no acknowledgement, no water and no menu.
When we finally got up to leave the waiter wished us a good evening and hoped everything was good. It dawned on him that he hadn't actually served us, so he caught up to us on the steps and asked us to come back in saying he hadn't seen us. He had served the table 6 ft away from us their appies, chatted with them about menu changes for summer and refilled their drinks.
We were hoping that this would be our go to in the new neighbourhood, but now we will steer clear.
Amazing restaurant! Reminds me of the days when you gather with your loved ones and have a wonderful dinner and have a an awesome night! Makes you feel like you're part of a family. Would 100% recommend to everyone.
We had an enjoyable and very funny evening in La Brezza. I hope the patient waitress was not too tired to serve us and ask a few times before getting an order or an answer from us. The food was very nice. I ordered linguini Mediterranean with jumbo prawns and at the end was happy with the choice.
I really enjoy their dishes. I always get awesome customer service there. The place is well organised and the cashiers are always very kind. Will visit here again.
La Brezza is one of our favourite restaurants. We haven't been out to eat in 9 weeks! Decided that it was time to get take out! We ordered the linguine that is one of the takeout specials. It took 22 minutes to get it home and pasta was still hot and delicious! Buttered chicken linguini, caesar salad, bruschetta with focaccia bread and tiramisu all for $28. My belly is very happy and I feel a nap coming on!
Amazing food and service! The calamari is by far my favourite dish! It’s the best Italian restaurant that I have tried in Calgary and will continue to go back!
Well it was my first time dining here including my 3 friends. A really cozy place. The Calamari is a must. I was disappointed though about the service. It was my friend's birthday (I even put the occasion at open table). I requested for 2 Tiramisu with 1 candle each after we're done eating our main courses. Once we finished our main courses the server who asked "What kind of desserts we wanted? " So I kinda assumed that there going to put candles on the desserts. Our desserts came out and there were no candles. I was so disappointed about what had happened. I thought my request was read but I guess they never read the request portion. I don't know if the management reads any of the requests there. When I talked to the server about the situation he apologized, but asked me if I wanted the Tiramisu taken out of the bill Duhhh! Offcourse they made a mistake at least give us an incentive. It's just a simple request I don't mind paying for the candles and desserts at least be responsible in reading any requests. I don't think they would go above and beyond with there service. I won't recommend anybody to go for their birthday celebration or other special occasion here. I would never go back in this restaurant again.
Such amazing food! Enjoyed many times in the restaurant and did takeout a couple weeks ago-so good! Certainly elevated our home dining experience. Reminded to leave this review because I went searching for their page to order again!
Had lunch here with a friend, place was easy to find, and it was a small cozy restaurant setting. The server was friendly and attentive. There is a small parking lot to park at as well. The calamari was great, my pasta was good. I'm not a pasta or Italian cuisine connoisseur, but for the price and such, it was an overall enjoyable meal with nice atmosphere. I would recommend this place.
Came here for my birthday dinner. Food was average and not to par with it being advertised as a fancy Italian restaurant. Service was not professional and I could not wait to leave the restaurant to go elsewhere to have the birthday cake.
Shared a delicious 4 course meal with my Girlfriend on valentines day at La Brezza. Our stuffed salmon was cooked to perfection and we really enjoyed the calamari! I would absolutely recommend La Brezza
We took our visiting niece to La Brezza for dinner last week and the whole meal was beautifully handled. As a celiac I had an excellent Caesar salad sans croutons and the calamari though listed as an appetizer made an excellent main course. My friend had veal parmigiana which he thoroughly enjoyed and our niece had a pasta dish topped with shrimp which she too really liked. There wasn't much room left for dessert so we just had coffee and tea. The service was efficient and we weren't kept waiting for any length of time for any of our meals. All in all it was a good choice especially as we had a guest from out of town
Calamari is the best. And the salads are good. Service was ok, one the owners came by to say hello which I think saved the day a bit. Rest of the food tasted a bit average.
A Calgary institution, we have been there a few times - however when the iconic owner Marco Abdi passed away, we wondered if it's be the same quality. Happy to report it has kept its standards intact! Same cozy atmosphere, same friendly staff, same quality food. From the traditional Ceasar dressing to the perfect al dente pasta, it holds its charm.
I went to La Brezza for the first time with my husband to celebrate our first year wedding anniversary. This is officially my favourite restaurant and I will be coming back again and again! Right when we walked in we were greeted and welcomed in. Our server was super friendly and really easy going. The cocktails were delicious and their wine list is healthy, but not overwhelming. Now the food.it was absolutely delicious. The calamari was said to be a signature dish and it did not disappoint. It was perfectly cooked (not at all rubbery), seasoned and tossed in the most flavourful tomato sauce!
We had an enjoyable and very funny evening in La Brezza. I hope the patient waitress was not too tired to serve us and ask a few times before getting an order or an answer from us. The food was very nice. I ordered linguini Mediterranean with jumbo prawns and at the end was happy with the choice. La Brezza is located in the residential area of Calgary, so you can walk after having a good meal and make some exercise before getting to the downtown.
I had the salmon with a side of veggies and GF pasta. My friend had the chicken. Everything was super tasty. Friendly service too. Brad, our very attentive waiter, helped us work through the menu and meal specials with confidence and energy. His recommended selection of the Italian red wine was perfect for our chosen dinner selections.
Very good food. You will test the real Italian food. Mama Angela the best authentic Italian food she cook's. Best experience ever amazing food nice place. I recomand this place for food lovers
Small restaurant in a character house. In business for almost 40 years. Old family recipes carried forward from original owners Mother in law. Comfortable and homey. Staff are delightful. Enjoy.
Absolutely wonderful service! The house wine was lovely and the meal was absolutely delicious! The service was exceptional and the server was not only friendly but made us feel at home and welcomed to relax and enjoy our time after closing.
