Best gelato ever! And I’ve tried tons of gelato places in Canada and the US. This place will remain a favourite such unique flavours and so fresh. My all time fave is the fig and cheese
Has to be the best gelato out of Italy by far. Staff is amazing and the place is always spotless. This has become a routine destination for any family outing, nights out with my wife. My go to is an affogato with one of the nutty gelatos. But honestly, nothing is a miss here.
Flavors are exotic but not in my top five places. The deal killer for me is the pathetic portion sizing. For the price I'd at least expect to feel half satisfied.
Cute little spot. I enjoyed the gelato. Flavours were good. Tasted fresh but I wasn’t happy with the sizes. We ordered a few 1 scoop and a couple of double scoops but they were exactly the same size. When we asked about this, they said it was a 100g to 150 g size difference. But she didn’t weight it and they looked exactly the same amount to us. Also the server was a little cold, it would have been nice to have friendlier service.
Found this place the other day and have gone everyday since it is seriously so good, a must have for anyone anywhere near jasper ave. They are also super considerate of allergies and are very aware of any possible cross contaminations.
I’ve been to La Carraia’s gelaterie in Firenze so I was excited to try their Edmonton location.
We shared a triple ($7.50) and opted for pineapple (like Dole Whip pineapple on steroids), mango (sweet and juicy) and passionfruit (wished it was tart). Texture was super smooth and creamy. Took me back to my travels in Italy.
2021 visited this palce, gave 5 stars, this summer, i do not know its new staff or have new owner, the same ice cream I bought as 2021, but the size much samller, i have to say flavor still good, but it is disappoint, even thire coffee is expensive than Starbucks, 7 something for a large size Latte, but their large is only grande from Starbucks. I do not think only me, just one week after I visited, 4 of my friends also got the ice cream and said the same thing, for a 2 scope ice cream cone they are smaller than last year.hopefully they can make it right.
You would definitely enjoy their amazing selection of unique ice cream flavors! I was not expecting the number of people when I first visited the place but after eating their ice cream, I then realized why it is popular. The staff were prompt. I would never forget the mango flavor! I suddenly miss it.
It’s been several years since my last visit to La Carraia. Happy to report that quality remains the same.
The worker was friendly and let us sample a couple of flavours. Total of 24 flavours. Shocked that the prices haven’t changed; $4.90 (single), $5.90 (double) and $7.50 (triple).
- Triple ($7.50) - texture was luscious. Pineapple was light and airy. The mango was the perfect sweetness. The passionfruit was creamy but sadly didn’t have any tartness.
Amazing Gelato. I had a salted caramel in a small cup under $6. Highly recommend coming here. The service is excellent as the employee let me sample. Perfect jem on jasper ave!
The two stars are for the good taste of ice creams period. The service is just terrible and if I had not visited in person, it’ll probably be impossible for me to believe in other’s comments regarding the rude and unprofessional service one female attendant offered. She is very cold through the whole transaction with no smile. We are not perfectionist and by no means we are expecting something going too overly friendly. We just need a very basic level of being polite and welcoming, that’s it. Also, We said very clearly that we want to have cones. She checked three times if we want cones or cups instead. These two words come with totally different pronunciation patterns and how could an attendant not able to understand it right after? I would be very interested in visiting again just to see if the manager is ever willing to do sth to change the bad customer service. Time will tell.
Sooo many amazing flavours. When we arrived there was a line but it moved fairly quick, the staff were very friendly & polite. We tried the Wafer, mango cheesecake, pistachio & vanilla, and lastly the berry one. Definitely will be back!
Delicious, fresh, nice to go there when walking down town on a date. Customer service could have been a bit better and friendlier but everyone is going to stuff now so.
The BEST GELATO! Passion fruit Kefir, coconut, chocolate orange cream, and white chocolate pistachio were insanely good. A nice spot to walk over to then stroll the river while eating. Other gelatos we had just weren’t good in comparison. I actually threw one from Perche No in the trash the next day because it was so bad in comparison: 0
One of the best Gelatos we have had. Nice and strong flavours. Scoops are small, but that is great. This allows you to have different flavours at a reasonable price. We got asked about allergies right off the bat, which is great since I am Celiac and she told me right away which ones have gluten so I could avoid them and stick with gluten free ones.
Best gelato or ice cream of any kind in Edmonton. The lemon cookie is current favorite. Highly recommend making the trip downtown to get a scoop or three of this delicious frozen treat.
This is the best gelato place in town and for me, the best ice cream shop in town. The gelato reminds me of those in Italy and the flavours are very accurate. Their pistachio and Hazelnut are very delicious and the textures of everything, even their sorbets, are amazing. Silky and creamy. I highly recommend this place. I also like that its usually not too busy unlike some of the other popular ice cream shops in town.
I haven't tried it i'm just looking at the pictures
update: ok i tried it and it was SO good i had to dip in the back alley so no one would see the face i made when i ate it.i had amaretto and the orange chocolate, which was the best gelato ever. 9000/10.
The icecream was alright but person working there was very unwelcome and got ripped off.the cone was not even filled with icecream and the scoops are very small
No doubt the ice cream is the best in the city hands down! The white chocolate pistachios is on another level. However, I wanted to give a huge shout out to Christian who was working on Feb 4th. He went above beyond with our order enquiry. You are awesome! Delicious ice cream, phenomenal service. 5 stars!
Always great gelato here. It is exactly like the stuff I’ve had in Bologna. And that’s because they’re authentic and Italian!
Highly recommend this place. Hands down best gelato in town. They always roll through the flavours, so there’s always something new to try. I always stop by here when I’m in the area.
Stopped in here Saturday afternoon for an oat milk latte. In a time when many establishments are selling their souls and throwing humanity under the bus for government subsidy - This place was a haven, friendly, respectful, just good old fashioned customer service.
Very good place but the poor girl working by herself on saturday evening while it's busy is not smart idea because we were waiting 20 mins to get in and place an order. Think about at least 2 people to work on the busy time to better serve customers.
It was a good gelato place and the service was great:) There were many flavours in store and I picked the white chocolate with pistachio (they didn’t have a pistachio flavour on its own). The white chocolate was good but the highlight of the flavour was the pistachio.
Love every flavor I've tried here, had them make a gelato cake for my birthday last year which turned out amazing and is one of the best cakes I've ever consumed!
I will only be visiting La Carraia for my gelato from now on, what an exceptional place! So many flavors, top notch quality ingredients, and unmatched customer service. Best gelato I've had in a long time, a definite must-have if you're craving something sweet and delicious.
The gelato is amazing, especially for the dark chocolate and the amarena. The berry flavours mix very well with dark chocolate. The staff is always polite.
The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because they don’t have a specific scoop measure, and then sometimes you end up with very little gelato in the cup. My suggestion would be to standardize the scoop to avoid the disappointment.
One of my favorite store in the city. The flavor are real and strong. There is a girl (douaa) that she treats everyone nice with a big smile. She makes the best coffee ever.
La Carraia blew me away with the most delicious coffee gelato I probably ever had. Combined with the waffle cone, the comminglement of tastes was even more magical. The lemon gelato was absolutely amazing too! So potent. I just want to immediately go back! It was so good I didn't even take any pictures
Awesome little shop to get gelato at. The staff are super friendly and there are tons of delicious flavours to choose from. I highly recommend trying the Symphony gelato. I will happily be returning in the summer to get some gelato when it is warm out.
Lots of flavours, the shop itself is decorated nicely and is welcoming. Staff was beyond friendly and helpful. The gelato itself tasted amazing, was decently priced, and the quantity was beyond what you usually get. The parking in the area sucks but that’s what you get in this area and in no way reflects on the shop. It is 100% worth it to walk, or pay to park!
Good gelato, excellent flavours. However I have been 3 times, and each time the individual serving the gelato had his mask pulled all the way down under his chin. Not sure if I would feel comfortable going back now that virus infection is increasing.
This is my favourite gelato place. Parking sucks, it's small, prob a bit expensive, but the flavours are so clean, varied and eventhough I'm not a person that craves ice cream, everytime I drive past it I want to stop in.
Slow service. But AMAZING gelato. The Pistachio and dark chocolate tasted the best. Will definitely go back. They also do Skip delivery in huge portions if that interests you.
As always, this place have a fantastic selection of gelato, which I love. Anyone who like gelato should go to that place. Plus you great to have samples before ordering. A most go place in downtown Edmonton.
This is the BEST ice cream - gellato actually. (which in case you didn’t know is like ice cream but made with skim milk! Who knew?) The first time I visited I must have tried 10 different kinds. Above average customer service which could be expected considering the price. It’s quite expensive but it’s made in house and you really can’t find anything like it around here (I’ve looked)
Brought back memories of our family frequenting Gelato place in Rome, Italy. Long line up due to COVID-19 regulations, otherwise once in dealt with efficient staff, they could have used another helper, as one lady behind the counter was insufficient for a Saturday evening.
Cute little place the ice cream was great but a little more on the expensive side.if you're looking for a place to meet up with the person you made out with at the bar and end the relationship now before it progresses into something you don't want I would recommend this place to do it.
Not outrageously pricey, and quality and quantity are fairly good.
Staff seemed a bit tired in our visit, and didn't have much advice to offer, but still seemed okay with offering a couple samples.
Samples seem like a waste of plastic spoons though, would suggest asking the customer to pick a few flavours and then putting those samples in a small bowl with one spoon to reduce plastic waste.
Best Italian Gelato I have tried so far in Canada, just passing thru Edmonton, and searched for best Italian Gelateria, brings back memories from Italy.
I normally don’t write reviews but after checking out the great reviews on this place, I just had to check it out for myself and I must admit it’s truly amazing. The gelato is so far the best I’ve had in Edmonton. It tastes just like the one I had in Italy 2 years ago. The staff were nice and friendly. After a stressful day at work, a good customer service can make a great difference indeed. I’ll be coming more often for sure.
The staff were incredibly kind and provided great service. There was a diversity of gelato flavors and it was amazing! I would definitely bring my family and friends to this place the only downside is that the place is quite small inside so seating is limited and next to a busy street made it hard to have conversations outside.
