La Piccola Napoli Ristorante

We went here for a birthday celebration. Everything was exceptional. The veal and pasta was delicious. Dessert was also great. I highly recommend this restaurant. Oh and the service from Michael was excellent.

What a great family owned restaurant! The food was amazing, the service is delightful and they truly embrace the Italian vibe. Best tiramisu in town!

My partner and I went here for a date and we had a lovely time. The vibe is amazing, old-timey and cute. The food was wonderful too.

Cozy, nice portion size, good service. We were very impressed by the tiramisu. The owners were very polite and helpful. I’ll definitely be back.

Meant to write a review ages ago and forgot, however would like to show my appreciaation to Mike, owner and Hana, for their amazing customer service when two friends and myself dined at Piccola Napoli a few months ago. Not only was the food delicious, both were very efficient, personable and made us feel as though we were of value, rather than simply paying customers. My all time fave Italian Ristorante, because of the ambience, quality and wide array of dishes, as well as an extensive wine list and also the dedication both Mike and Hana show in their respective positions. My wife and I love this place, we have been here twice, once 3 years ago and the other time about a week ago. Higher quality than the Olive garden, quality might have went down a little bit over the years but I would still recommend it.

Don’t waste your time or money coming here. Where to even start…. I think overall the worst part was the service. Our wine was never offered to be refilled. Quality check was never done for our food, plates stacked up, and we had to walk to the front to get our bill. There were only two other tables in the whole restaurant, so no excuse for the terrible service. One owner was eating, the other was sitting at a table doing nothing, and maybe the son was serving?
Pasta is store bought and frozen.
There are still Christmas decorations up…
Just a waste of time and money. Don’t go.

Have eaten here numerous times in the past and the food was incredible! Sadly something has changed and the food was subpar. Service was respectable, likely due to the restaurant being empty on a Friday night. Pasta was not homemade, perhaps an unfair expectation however it separates the food experience from being ok to being memorable! Truly hope they can turn it around and bring it back to its former lustre!

Well very disappointing for sure. We have been going there from time to time over the last 25 years and it has always been good till now. The service was barely okay and it took 15 min for the bill. The food was not as good as I can make at home and they brought bread without asking and then charged us $3 for it. The seafood pasta was mainly mussels in the shell and two shrimp. Sad but we won’t be going back again.

FILTHY restaurant with chairs that are falling apart and unsafe not to mention the HORRENDOUS attitude of the self appointed shaggy unkempt “owner” His demeanour was ATROCIOUS… and his level for distain for service…… is definitely projected upon his guests…. I would NEVER step foot in this DUMPSTER FIRE if a “restaurant” …. Also … food ALL OVER the dining room floor… i am considering calling the food inspectors due to the absolute minimum…you can’t tell me there is no mice…. I’m so glad we can say - without a doubt - we will never be back….

i mean if your going to act like a total pig…. At least put it directly on the menu….

i see you’ve spent more time writing your response than accepting accountability for the fact that your restaurant is failing due to your own inability to take constructive criticism…. I’m glad you spent all that time writing out your feelings…. Perhaps you need a therapist…. Not a keyboard…. ” i’m not going to comment on how you lament your sorrows but immediately attack” speaks volumes of what we the community know of YOUR problematic business…. Which yes…. I do hope fails…. It’s only a matter of time.

Entrees were basic and plain. Service was just adequate. Been there many times before but not since Covid Has gone done quite a bit. Could probably have good the same or better at home. Won’t be going back

Last year we had a wonderful experience here, we came back this evening and it was absolutely horrendous.

Firstly, there were only 3 tables busy- the place was empty.

We waited at the door for nearly 10 mins to be seated, eventually seated ourselves. There was still no server in sight. We went to the kitchen to just let them know we were here, and asked for a menu. The owner came out and was the rudest man I’ve ever met. He told us we had waited one minute and shouldn’t have seated ourselves, then walked away shaking his head.
Not even a hello or sorry for the wait, or anything.
We got up and left as he then continued to be rude to my wife.

So sad to have had this experience because our previous visit there was so pleasant.

We will never be back.

The food was bland and did not seem very fresh or of high quality. Portions ample and price reasonable. I would not want to eat there again.

The service was confusing - one of our three servers asked us if we were finished when we hadn't even gotten our entrees yet.

Several other mistakes were made - everyone makes mistakes sometimes, but there were a lot of them.

The decor - while I like a little eclectic and kitchy and wacky, this lacked charm. Not to my taste. I found the lighting too bright and the music tacky.

The food was so-so generic "italian" and the service matched. They didn't write our order down, and there was a long wait between the appetizers and main. We had 3 different people "attend" our table, and none of them seemed to be on the same page. I kinda liked the old school family-ran vibe, but it was not enough to make a return visit.

This place is very antiquated. Food menu probably hasn't changed since it opened. Pasta is store bought not made, perhaps the sauces as well. Dishes are not put together as one but separate. So if you order veal or chicken with pasta, you get a sauce with the meat, and a different sauce with the pasta separated out on each side of the plate. The quality of the food isn't very good, especially considering the prices. The service isn't very good either, couldn't even get a refill on water. Desert was also poor. Don't want to beat up on local family businesses since it would great to have a good one in the community, but I don;t think this restaurant has much life left unless they get better and change the menu drastically.

Such a disappointing turn for this restaurant, which pre-pandemic was one of my favorites in the city.

The food is still delicious, but there's a total lack of service that the food can't make up for.

We had a 6 PM reservation for 2 on Friday night, and when we came in, there was absolutely no staff to be seen with only 3 tables seated. Our server, Mike, seemed anxious to get our orders in as soon as possible and was waiting by the bar for us to close our menus. We weren't given the specials (though later in the evening we heard some tables got them sporadically). When I ordered my dish, I realized I wasn't prompted for what sauce choice I wanted - I had to physically flag him down to ring in the correct dish to the kitchen.

The food came out fairly quickly, but then we were left alone for more than 45 minutes. No one came back to check on how the food was, or to refill any of our water/drinks. Both Mike and the other server were frantically moving around, taking orders and delivering dishes, even though the restaurant was quiet and calm. The entire night we only ever saw 2 staff in the front of house, presumably the owners themselves.

At one point they were right behind us and quietly sniping at each other - he then spun around and took our empty plates from us so roughly that he almost dropped dirty cutlery on me.

Based on that experience, we will not be returning. If you do go, definitely don't go during a "busy" time.
