Legal aid is where terrible lawyers go to hide, and to steal from weak victims. They are not there to help normal people they are there to help most evil lawyers find most broken victims. Its another organization of privileged folks pretending to do volunteer work. It looks good on each other's resumes. Beware.

I went here last week some guy stopped me from going upstairs apparently you need an appointment I just had a few general questions to ask wasn't even allowed to do that

Legal aid has done lots of good services for me over the years so I hope this time is the same and they can get me off on the charges because I'm an innocent bystanders of the whole situation and don't deserve to get into trouble for this supposed crime. Thanks legal aid.

Your phone lines are horrendous between dropped calls and having to scream into the phone in order to be heard. This is very frustrating and unprofessional, especially when dealing with legal matters.

I was told ridiculous wait times. I never received any updates. I was denied because i made $100 more than they allowed.a whole lot of time was wasted just to be denied.

I'm speaking as a former employee. Do not work here and please read the indeed.ca reviews as to answer the question why.

The office environment is toxic, where you will be subject to poor training, a definite lack of on-the-floor support from management and the most toxic, and even management endorsed, passive-aggressive bullying from staff, maintenance staff and possibly anyone on the floor with authority or their own office.

If for some reason you do choose to work here, please understand you will talked down to by management, likely ostracized by many of your co-workers, and monitored by quality assurance for which you will receive written evaluations inconsistent from one another.

If you are looking for work where you might be treated with some respect, please consider working for a private organization or governmental branch that emphasizes respect and dignity for their workers, a quality Legal Aid, a principled non-profit organization supposedly, does preach but never practices. Not one person with self-respect would work here. Do the right thing and if you get a callback for a position with with Legal Aid and, again, peruse infeed's reviews to see why.

This review is about Legal Aid Alberta. God help you if you need their help. Either this organization is overwhelmed with excess demands for its services, or it is run by a group of inept, lazy, uncaring and unmotivated individuals. Their business name is "Legal Aid". Expect to wait on their phone line for 2 hours to get response, if at all. They need to look in to their business model and seriously overhaul their operation to improve efficiency and the effective delivery of their badly needed services.

About their phone answering service: one way to efficiently answer phone calls is to provide a callback service, instead of compelling people under stress to wait on the phone for 2 hours before providing customer service. Many businesses offer a call back service based on first call first serve. What is so difficult about doing that? Honestly? Do you have to be a genius to figure out that a caller would be most appreciative and relaxed when knowing when he/she will get a call back from Legal Aid? Instead of waiting for 2 hours and listening to annoying recurring recorded messages reminding him/her of "Long wait time", or "check spam folder", etc.

Lawyers do nothing for you, Lawyers don't listen to you, When you disagree with the lawyers they remove themselves from your file or ask to be removed. It's a joke they are not out to help the less fortunate or ones who can't afford decent representation they don't care! All they want to do is bill you and they do that quite well for no services rendered that you request. $14000 and change and not one thing was done that I asked for. Well you don't give me the service I ask for so I don't pay that's how that works! Keep sending those bills they just go to junk like the services provided from these junk lawyers!

If I could give zero stars I would.
The system is incredibly broken. Lady justice is absolutely not blind, just put a few thousand dollars in her palm and watch the scales tip.

I have had 2 lawyers via legal aid and neither of them did their job. Bad advice, lazy, hell one didn't even show up to the trial! This system is a broken nightmare and it is unfortunate justice is only for the rich.

Extremely poor communication, especially when you're talkin about kids a family court we were in the court of Queen's bench for two-and-a-half years then all of a sudden it got switched of provincial Court I had to reapply the two and a half years plus a year-and-a-half for them to finally make a decision I lost out on three and a half years of my son's life legal aid covered me for 2 and 1/2 years at the cost of 17000 dollars. Now I got to start it all over again because now we're going through provincial Court my son is no 12 years he's old enough to make up his own mind where he wants to live but Alberta is the only province that doesn't accept a 12 year olds voice. I wasdisgusted with the year-long time it took down to finally give me a decision that they're going to cover me again which I still have to pay for but it's a vehicle do you get it for a short time but you make long-term payments. HoweverI do got to say that 99% of the people that I spoke with at legal aid for fantastic hundred percent understanding except for the supervisors I think it's time for some promotions and some demotion. Because the base personal were 10x better to speak with. They did not have that Superiorchip on their shoulder where they figure there's a boss like all the supervisors at legal aid not oneeven listen to understand I spent two-and-a-half years covered by legal aid but because of the transformation from Queen's bench to provincial Court I was no longer covered for a year-and-a-half till I finally got through to the premiers office then all of a sudden I got some answers and I got approved again I made my payments loyally every month the supervisors there should be ashamed of themselves and should be fired. They are completely useless

Not helpful on the phone. Told me to go on the website to find the number i need to call. Didnt give me any more info, 30 second convo. Went on the website and there is no number that i can call for what i was looking for. Could have just told me they dont deal with that type of problem.

Legal aid is very slow, the lawyers dont care one whit.its sad, its pathetic and maddening.its just a cash grab for greedy lawyers all they do is sit there.no objections and try and settle regardless of your opinion.they could not care less.go alone to court.family or criminal.these guys are just bad news.no help at all.

If you change lawyers because they are not best suited or do not care to your specific case needs you have to pay in order to get another lawyer. In family law time that you aren't making efforts to move forward looks bad. Keep in mind children in custody battles can and I believe should have their own lawyer or st least an advocate on their behalf. It makes sure the child's best interests are the key factors to a custody trials.
Legal aid doesn't explain a whole lot about family law when u are asking for financial help in the end it seems all about the money. Nor are they compassionate when u are initially calling for assistance.

My lawyer has forced to sign me something which is not true, just to finish case and when I did not agree She drop out my case as well as she did not send the papers to opposite counsel that I asked with all the changes I needed. I got that know now 6 months later when I received email from opponent counselor

The lawyer i had put a lot of pressure on me to give the bio father guardianship. Then i had to support her because she was my lawyer. She told me it was the only way and gave me zero options. I eventually found out she was practically handing my son over to them. I did some research and found out she was nelegant. I got a real lawyer who charges through legal aid and removed 58 percent of his time. Get a real lawyer who will charge through legal aid. The lawyers at legal aid are nelegant!

Wow this service is useless if you make more than 20,000 in the LAST 12 months. I lost my job in December and everything else followed. I’ve been living in my car since February and am now facing criminal charges due to the company I surrounded myself with. The cop are following me and harassing me and I can’t get representation in court. They denied me. I am lost for options and words. When it rains it pours. I talked to 4 people and let them know I have nothing, I make nothing but because of my good job last year that let me go I now have to learn about the law and represent myself on 6 criminal charges.

Jail is free rent and food though right? !

The lawyers they appoint don't care, and give you secondary service to their non legal aid lawyers. The system is broken and needs to be fixed.

Spent $55 on my cell phone call to legal Aid they indicated after going through all the previous orders which btw started since 2011. I was asigned a new lawyer 2 yrs ago who's a complete waste been calling his office for 3 months now last we spoke he said he was checking with the other counsel! That's 3 month ago.when I call legal aid back they said I cannot get a change in counsel! This is a very contentious case and I need a lawyer that not only speak English but can communicate with the judge without posting him off! I' head to court with Sivia I will certainly loose my case!

Just called to ask a question. The receptionist clearly an over opinionated middle aged woman proceeded to put me on hold without even letting me say a word. When I asked to speak to her supervisor she asked me regarding what and I replied your professionalism she told me shes not in right now. I proceeded to ask when I could call that she would be available and she said well shes here but not in her office. I asked when she would be available to speak to and she said she was busy and hung up. I called back and said I'd like to speak to your supervisor she again proceeded to tell me shes busy and added a snooty bye before again hanging up. I proceeded to call back 3 more times where my call was ignored finally the forth time she answered and without saying a word hung up again. I then proceeded to leave a rather nasty message about the situation. Low and behold her supervisor managed to call me back after that one and "discuss" the situation that shes already heard what happened from her receptionist. I told her I really dont feel like alberta wants yo be represented by such ignorant unprofessional people and I would appreciate an apology from said worker. Waiting for a call back now.

Helped me a lot when I separated from my ex to establish custody and protect myself and my children.

My lawyer was apointed to me from legal aid. If you require a good lawyer to win a court case come apply here and be a winner.
