Love stopping in here for a quick breakfast and coffee. The omelette wrap is my favourite - well-priced, piping hot, delicious and filling. When things shut down during the pandemic, the omelette wrap was one item I often craved!
Food selection is not great. But they made my coffee well. On the menu it says their only non-milk option is soy milk, which is not great given all the options available out there.
To all of the folks saying that this business is run by racists, I eat at this cafe almost everyday and know the staff quite well. I assure you that the owner and staff are not racist. I have had nothing but wonderful service in this establishment, day in and day out. Please be sure that you are aware of the entire situation before leaving a public comment that could ruin someone else's business.
@Duncan The owner is most certainly not racist and the incident you referred to about kicking out an indigenous person is because that person had been combative and assaulted staff. Try not to assume the part of the incident you are seeing is the whole story, there was far more than what you saw. No one deserves to be assaulted. L'Espresso owner and staff are wonderful people, kind and compassionate.
Watched your management kick out a homeless gentleman today. He had purchased a drink (likely with what little money he had) and was napping while the storm raged outside. Management stood and watched as the peace officers kicked a non-disruptive, paying customer out into the snow. How can anyone be that heartless? ! Will be giving L'espresso a miss from now on.
Great cafe right in the heart of downtown. Kelly is gem of a person and always has a large dark roast coffee ready for me when I get to the till. He also makes an awesome pastrami sandwich! I always look forward to our chats and am happy to support this local business.
Had a wonderful lunch here. Casual atmosphere, friendly staff and great food! Some of the best gluten-free bread we've had too. (And when they found out my mother's 90th birthday was coming up they brought out a plate of baklava which was a very thoughtful touch). Just along the eastern edge of Churchill Square.
People here are amazing, had a latte which was really good, and I appreciated the foam art! Looks like the food might be good too, have to try that next time.
Was here with a friend the other day. Yummy Chai Tea Latte and turkey wrap. This cafe is easy to find and is in close walkable distance to the Alberta art gallery.
The worker was very kind and sweet. Made me feel comfortable. My food was delicious and I loved my Chai Latte. Will definitely go back when I’m in the area again.
Everyone at work was raving about the egg salad sandwich at L'Espresso, so I had to give it a try. One of the most delicious egg salad sandwiches I've ever had.
We ordered from L'Expresso for our office event, I wanted to say thank you for the wonderful service and food! Everyone was really happy and enjoyed the meal!
You can order ahead online. They make good drinks and a really nice blt thats on fluffy brown bread. Good amount of seating inside, but there's also outdoor seating if that's your fancy.
Got a large flavoured coffee for 2.75 with several pumps of vanilla. It was nice and just like I like my coffee. Will definitely go here again if I'm downtown. The cafe itself was nice as well.
I felt slightly over priced for what I ordered ($5+ for a bagel with cream cheese the size of my palm & my hand is small) I waited about 15 mins for the coffee & bagel-there was 2 ppl ahead who ordered same thing; but there was only 1 person running the show (orders, coffee & bagel) So he was doing the best he could!
Coffee was quite good-and good location to CN Tower downtown
Kelly at L’Espresso Organic Cafe is a wonderful human being. I recently spent some time in the Royal Alexandra Hospital and was calling local coffee shops to see if one would deliver some goodies to the ward that took care of me. (I am not from Edmonton) So this task was done with trial and error phone calls. Kelly related to me, person to person to get exactly what I wanted done and arranged for delivery for a very reasonable cost. He then made sure to text me a photo of the goodies and a picture of my receipt to show that they were on their way. Thank you so much for taking the extra time to help me say thanks!
Really unorgonized, part of it is that the owner is cheap and won't hire extra people other than the 3 other girls who work full time, and he leaves during the rush to go do his work out. Also does not use gloves so they have to wash their hands constantly which makes already slow service (because of the only 3 people hired) even slower, as well as no thermometer for the drinks so there is also no consistency. And not to mention their "iced coffees" are essentially frappé's which rightfully confuses people.
A nice small business in the middle of the city. Always nice to have an independent coffee shop operating amongst the busy city activities. Warm environment, quiet and helpful staff. Self serve regular coffees, with a nice variety of pastries and a sandwich menu with soups. A great place to visit or meet with coworkers.
I found out about this place when I was looking for a coffee shop near the Art Gallery, and I am so glad I did! Their chai tea latte sprinkled with some cinnamon tastes so good! Their london fog was also great. Their egg and tomato breakfast sandwich thing wasn't bad, but meh. The staff are always really nice, although not as outgoing as other baristas/food service staff in other cafes.
The place is often cluttered. There are too many tables in such a small space, it's so hard to move around! There are also no outlets (or maybe I just didn't look hard enough), so I wouldn't recommend it as a place to study or do work.
My favorite place to grab my coffee and breakfast downtown. Their coffee selection is great, and I've yet to try one I don't enjoy. Breakfast sandwiches are extra buttery and delicious. Employees are always polite.
Overall the place was good and the food what's nothing special but overall decently priced. I had the ham and bacon wrap with potato leek soup. The soup was great but on the small side. The wrap was really good and had a homemade feel to it since it was grilled. The place however feels like it's crammed with furniture and was not particularly busy feeling like a disorganized mess of tables and chairs, a lot of chairs.
Great coffee shop right next to Churchill Square. I visited in the morning and ordered a coffee and breakfast sandwich, both were good. The service was friendly and courteous. I did not stay as I was going to work but if you did stay it looks nice and cozy. The cafe is clean and tidy. I’ve been walking by for many years and finally told myself to go in and try it out and I am pleasantly surprised.
