A hidden surprise! A wonderful place for paddling, with very interesting land formations. Plus the lack of cell service allows you to really unplug and enjoy your surroundings. General Store by the water was underwhelming and overpriced.
Beautiful day. Not too crowded. Water was very low though, and murky. The side with the docks was great! Better swimming and fun jumping off the docks!
The swimming area was contaminated with fecal matter and there was an advisory. The park staff did not share this information and there was a very small sign put up. Many people were swimming and had no idea. Disappointed this was not communicated to users.
Enjoy camping here. Nice beach area, although the water was so low this year it wasn't very good fit swimming. Some of the campsites don't provide enough shade for how hot it gets there and they could use a few more flush toilets got how many campsites they have.
My only concern was the walk from the camping area to the beach. It's a long way for anyone with limited mobility. I'd suggest bringing bikes. The beach is nice but the water is dirty and super muddy. Kids love the place, great for families, very clean outhouses and grounds. The ice cream shop has everything you might have forgotten at fair prices and stuff is awesome. Hubby didn't like that wifi only works in the stupidest places but over all we enjoyed it.
Awesome camp ground. Good beach, water a little cold. Lots to do, bike riding, swimming fishing etc. Nice snack bar with ice cream. Clean bathrooms and showers friendly staff
Water was kinda gross, definitely peed in the water too. My apologies to anyone going there. Statistically the pee should be gone by now. If you have been there within the last month, I'm sorry.
Water level is very low due to the dry conditions so the beach area is terrible. No rule enforcement is done Monday to thursday so lots of partying until all hours of the morning.
We had a great time here. The swimming was great and our campsite had everything we needed. Only real issue was the placement of our fireplace which limited how many could easily sit around the fire. Given the temperature while we were there (hot) this wasn't a major concern though.
Great place for day trip or overnight camping. The drive from Calgary was easy to get to and not far. No cell service there. It was clean and kids loved it.
Nice big beach surrounded by lots of trees in the picnic area. The huge lake is in the magical and unique coulee which gives you the feeling that you are in another world.
Great place to camp and boat, kids had a blast swimming in the lake and catching crayfish. Wood on site and the property manager is super sweet and very pleasant. We had a great time
Cool campground in a valley in the middle of nowhere. Nice reservoir and beach area for boating. Lot of trees and deers wander around. Have both powered and non powered campsites. Dump station available above the valley.
Great campground with an awesome lake for boating! You can also swim at the beach and get ice cream at the concession stand. Good for biking and kids too!
Very nice place to camp, walk, bike, swim, and lot more. Nice employees and prompt in responding to your needs, and frequently clean the area especially the washrooms. Periodic passing of employees to check the surroundings and safety of the campers.
Campground is like an oasis in the middle of the prairies! Sites have a tonne of space. It's pretty open though if you're looking for privacy. Lake is big with good fishing for Walleye and Pike. Good beach area and boat launch.
Beautiful location for this campground! Alot of sites are close together and some bathrooms could use updating. Nice dock for fishing and nice beach area. It was very windy when we were there, and judging from the wind turbines in the area, it's probably often a windy place!
Upgrade the roads and parking lot to make the boat launch a better experience. Not safe with the road right beside the concession and all the parked vehicles on the side of the road.
Quite and family oriented the park was clean and bathrooms were also. The camp sites were good. Lake is clean and no algae. Only negative - no internet or cell phone service in the park You need to drive or walk to the top of some tall hills for cell service. Other than the cell service I would go back for sure.
It's among the least interesting nature spots in Alberta, but if you have a boat it's one of the closer spots you could go to enjoy it.
The camping is regular campground fare, although quite a bit higher quality than normal. All your hookups, facilities, small parks etc. Bad news is that is all there is to do, no other close by "camping" activities. There is a beach, but you could find a better one in Calgary in any number of communities.
Unless you have a motorized water toy, I'd probably head elsewhere to camp.
It is and beautiful little Park out in the middle of the Prairie where is a 25 square km Lake great fishing and pretty much all amenities with a nice Beach area for the kiddies
Good little campground. A lot of the trees have been affected by disease and could stand to be trimmed. There is an evident effort with replanting some trees but more could be done. Overall the grounds are clean and well kept and any staff we interacted with were excellent. Lots of people catching lots of fish right off the dock so it's a great location for kids to fish. The beach is great for kids as it's shallow for a long way out. It can get pretty breezy so bring your awning in at night! Great little ice cream shop on site as well. No cell service in the campground so it's a great excuse to put the phone away. The sewage dump is $6 so be prepared for that as well.
Awesome place to go all around. Good camping. Nice beach. Worth the drive. And no cell reception, unless you drive to the top of the hill, which makes it nice to actually enjoy your stay.
Great spot for walleye fishing, camping and swimming. Boat launch has two ramps so you don’t have to wait long to put in. Pine coulee only has one and it can take forever. I have not ever waited more than 10 minutes at little bow. Ample parking. People catch walleye from docks all day long. Docks are pretty stable but can get busy with people fishing and boaters coming in and out. Go early. I have never used the camping or the beach but it all looks well kept and busy.
We went for the day to visit some friends who were camping there! Really nice place to go camping and relax! We were at section B.washrooms were clean however the ammonia smell was pretty strong!
I love this campground and have lots of positive things to say. But over the years campground has become less attractive. I agree with others rules not enforced for noise and dogs on beach. There are lots of owners with little princesses that actually take them onto beach and keep refreshing them in lake. The rest of us obey rules. Bathrooms are not as clean but dont really expect them to be. Users seem to be inconsiderate and dont care. We all need to kick in. Noise after 11 not always controlled even thought it does not bother me I am glad I do not have young children. My biggest complaint is bats. Three years now have had issues with bats gettin in places of trailer.or clinging to trailer when trying to pack up. Campground needs to consider setting up bat boxes. I have researched it more this year after coming back and bats live tent trailers or any place they can find a little cost cover. Its life but things can be done. Last year was worse with them getting in crevices grates etc and when trying to pack up we fought over a dozen. This year tried to do more prevention but still an issue the did not get in but loved under crevices and fought off at least 1/2 dozen when packing up. Lots of bat droppings and unfortunately blood drips all over top of sun screen shelter. Could be bats or something else. Would still go back just had to comment this year
I found this secluded little spot next to the inklet to the reservoir. Locals come here to fish and I did several good size fish caught Tiny sand spot to enjoy the water and stick your toes in the sand. I went for a swim and it was refreshing. Lots of prairie groundhogs to amuse me and provide great subjects for some pictures.
My first time here and yes! Id rate this place higher IF.there were cell service and better booking system for some sites that I choose. Its first come first served.
Beautiful, lots of birds and nice scenery. It was quiet Wednesday through Friday afternoon and then it was packed to maximum capacity. Very windy! The beach was nice, fairly sandy, decent water.
I love the camp ground as a whole. The lake is amazing, the weather was perfect and the stargazing phenomenal but I did find other campers to be loud and disrespectful in the morning to their neighbors. It would have been nice to see a respectful policy in place and enforced.
Surrounded by hills and windmills. No cell service so you can truly get away. Clean beach and shallow waters for the littles. Awesome little concession with ice cream, beach toys, etc. Several parks including a natural wood park. Boating dock available as well.
