LOCAL South Common

Sort of just a standard chain pub. Not much different from something like Browns or a Canadian Tap House. Nothing wrong with it, it’s fine, but nothing that really stands out. It’s big, it’s busy, it’s loud, the food is solid. There were a couple of errors and miscommunications with the service, but overall it’s solid as well. I guess that’s what Local is: just solid.

I love their food. I tried the fish and chips with their special sauce and it was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant is lively. The restaurant is in a great location. I will definitely go back.

I come here quite often, the food is always great along with the service. However, I got the tacos for happy hour and they're noticeably cheaper on the ingredients when its on sale. Kind of defeats the purpose of the customer taking advantage of happy hour. I'd rather pay full price and get more than a teaspoon of meat on the tacos. Seems to be a trend I've noticed in other restaurants as well.

Random visit for happy hour and this place was busy. All things considered, service was friendly… maybe just not enough staff to accommodate a busy Friday happy hour? Their nachos were a bit of a disappointment for us.covered in a “soggifying” pico de gallo (recommend you ask for this on the side), and the cheese was scarce and unfamiliar. Despite that, the shrimp tacos, crispy potatoes and caesars were great. Atmosphere was energetic. Reservations recommended.

It took 20mins to have a server to order for drinks, and took 10mins extra to get drinks. The server just left after paying the bill even without saying “thank you”. Foods and drinks are good.

We really enjoyed the Local public Eatery, located in south common Edmonton. This weekend on our visit to Alberta. The cocktails highly recommended and the fish taco and blackened chicken sandwich was delicious. We’ll definitely be back!

This is our favourite place to go to in the city! The vibes are always great, music is bumping, and staff is super friendly and professional. Usually we get Kenya as our server, and she always provides the best customer service! Jordana is our favourite host, she is accommodating and we love it when she chats at our table hahaha. I recommend to place to everyone!

Delicious Gyros, yes the place is outdated and more of a hole in the wall hidden gem. The gentleman that created this restaurant and the authentic Greek food is amazing for sharing such wonderful food. Eat local, support places like this and people who have true passion for food and love filling people bellies and hearing how much it's enjoyed. Keep doing what your doing sir and who cares about decor it's not about that. It's about the food and the creator of it. So so good! Thank you!

Great greeting as you arrive. I always feel comfortable when pulling up at the bar. A great atmosphere very likely to make knew friends here amongst patrons as well as Staff. Food & beverages are easy to consume. A wide variety of choices. It took me way to long to try this bar & eatery experience out & now that time well spent keeps me coming back.

Ordered cajun chicken salad which looked amazing to my eyes but only to find a long strand of hair marinated in my cajun chicken.not ontop but the long strand was embedded in my chicken: (. Enjoyed my drink ice tea:). My partner had his meal (steak) which looked really small than what was mentioned in the menu and cut out! Seemed strange steak come uncut

My friend and I wandered into Local because we wanted to try something different. I opted for the drunken chicken, and while it looked good, looks can be deceiving. I took one bit of the rice, and it was the worse rice I have ever eaten. It had a chemical taste to it which I could not get rid of. I turned the food back to the waitress and refused anything else. If you can't make rice properly, why would I trust anything else. The waitress was very nice and apologetic, but while good food can sometimes make up for bad service, good service can only do so much to make up for bad food.

Started out a bit rough with the seats of the booth very dirty with crumbs but after bringing it to the hostess attention they cleaned it up. The 2 menus we got were also quite sticky and dirty so hopefully they pay a bit more attention to that in the future.

For the food we had the Malaysian curry bowl which was surprisingly good. It did have a bit of heat but as someone who likes spicy I wouldn't call it that but very good regardless. The portion I thought was a bit small for $21 but for lunch it was a perfect size. We also ordered the breakfast sandwich which was also very good. The eggs were not too runny and the bacon was very good. Overall service was great and the food really good so would definitely go back.

Rating 5 stars because I love the food and place in general. However my last visit to the south common location was sub par. The caesar was terrible, the service was ok but nothing amazing, my fiance ordered fish and chips and was brought fish tacos. I usually visit the downtown location which is better in my opinion.

Went on a date, which turned out to be really bad, with a guy turning to be a total alcoholic, but I was supported by the staff, specially Sydney and Harmy, they were amazing, and stayed with me during the time I need. It has a beautiful patio, so apart from the disastrous date experience, I will come back for sure because I was treated with kindness and generosity.

Wow this place was amazing! Although the oilers played really bad, the food was very warm and rich with flavor. The man working the bar was also very personable and elite with his service. I think his name was Kaeden or Kevin, he had curly hair! Great place, even better service.

This review pertains to my visit to local public eatery on May 23.i came to have a taste of local's brunch menu.i was alone, and i chose to try the (BRAISED BEEF & BACON HASH which contains Fried egg, braised beef, caramelized onions, bacon and pickled peppers on crispy potatoes). All seemed fine when i got the dish, there was potatoes and a fried egg on top as on the online menu). I started to work my way through the potatoes and when the waitress came over to check on how it was tasting, i was genuinely happy. However, when i lifted the fried egg, i noticed the onions, pickled peppers but there was no bacon. I stopped eating and i waved down a waitress and explained the situation. She said she would go and check on it and so she left me with my plate, and went away. Five minutes later, a different waitress to my original waitress came and asked what the issue was. I said that there was no bacon in the dish. I asked "what do you mean there was no bacon", and i explained that the menu said that it came with bacon. She agreed. She then asked "are you sure there was no bacon". I again responded "yes". She then said "but are you sure that is not bacon" while pointing at a piece of caramelized onion. I gave her the plate and asked her to show me herself to which she then said "well i guess that is not bacon". She then put the plate down and said "ok what would you like us to do".

I was flabbergasted that after going through the interrogation, there was still a question about what was needed to rectify this situation. I said that i could not keep eating the dish with missing ingredients, and I asked for the meal to be remade. She said "OK", and took my plate. 15-20 minutes later, a 3rd different waitress hurriedly dropped off the plate at my table, said it's name and walked off without even making eye contact and without giving me a chance to ASK for CUTLERY which they took with my previous plate. Now, this waitress went to the bar where she was chatting with the bar tenders. I waited to flag down a 4th waitress to get me cutley and thankfully she brought me some. Now this was by far the worst customer service experience that i have ever had while eating out, and i was very disappointed. Needless to say there is so much wrong with not doing the right thing when mistakes are made, being condescending, interrogating customers for pointing out errors is terrible. Sending over people who are not pleasant is very disappointing.this experience ruined my day.

I’ve been here several times over the years, it’s hit or miss whether you get good service or not. Tonight was the worst. I waited over 10 mins before a server even came to my table. There were lots of empty tables. Ordered a water and a ginger ale. Waited another 10 mins. Got a very tiny glass of water, gone in 3 gulps, no ginger ale. No staff came back. I left. On way out, told the hostess why I was leaving. Terrible service, was ignored. I went in to order some food. Figured that would take forever since couldn’t even get a drink. Lots of staff standing around talking to each other, not really doing much. I guess if you don’t drink alcoholic beverages, you don’t feel welcome here. See ya!

The bartender I had was very personable and genuinely seemed like she wanted to be at work, which can be harder and harder to find. The food was great and she always made sure to ask about a new beer prior to it being empty. Whoever was AM bar today, the 2nd, is great!

I have not had one bad meal at this place and having rotation craft beer on tap makes it a good place to visit

February 5th, 2022 around 10AM. The front desk girl wearing brown dress did not care about our comfort and just us on an uncomfortable table despite asking to have a booth which were available. Then she seats someone else in the booth which I found could've been somewhat racist towards us. However, our server was really nice even though we didn't stay for long cause of the seating she made every effort to attend to us. The manager should look into the situation regarding the front desk girl.

Whats not to love about this great spot. The staff are always friendly and there is a ton of beer on tap. The food is delicious and even in the winter the vibe is second to none. When you need a break from shopping check them out

Great food Truffle Burger, fries & gravy). No line up, with moderately busy lunch. Server was awesome, timing, keeping up with all her tables, and checking back to make sure all was good.

Really uncomfortable.
An entire wall of glass garage doors - which leak cold air like crazy. Plus, the view is to garbage. Old Christmas trees laying on the ground. A wall would be warmer, and better ambiance.
Tall chairs and little round tables.
Tasty burgers. Stupid paper straws.
Won't be back.

Recently ordered take-out for lunch through their website and the process was simple. I received an email confirmation my order was accepted and then a text confirmation when it was ready (ahead of schedule too). Their fried chicken sandwich is excellent. Unfortunately didn't give me the option to leave a tip, or I missed it on checkout. Sorry about that. I will make sure to get it right on the next order.

I am from out of town but met some customers there since they recommended to go to LOCAL. Ithe service was excellent as was the Tacos I ordered. I will have to come back and try some other menu items.

Perfect meals are rare. I've only had four or five of them in my lifetime, and i had one here. The blackened steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly, and the salad was unique and delicious. The beef tacos were brimming with flavour. In terms of presentation, the food was as good as it tasted. For the level of quality that you get, the prices are staggeringly good. I will absolutely be back.

Very good brunch. Everything was fresh and delicious. Service was quick and friendly. We had eggs Benny, fish tacos and brisket hash. Would recommend all three.

Our server Leah was awesome! The food was clean and lean (low sodium for me). I highly recommend this location and ask for Leah.

The food here is good most of the time! There are some instances where the food has not been up to par. But being a bar setting I guess it's forgiven. Sometimes I wish they had more vegitarian options! Overall, it's a cool place to come grab some drinks and catch up with friends or watch a game!

Saturday brunch is a great time to go as it is quiet and your food comes quickly! Staff are friendly, attentive and engaging. The food is hot, the cooks do well with food allergies and go the extra mile!

Usual sports bar. Lots of large screen Tv's with no one watching. The girl who served us was very nice. The food that my wife and son had was very good, but my wings were to hot (and I like curry) and the burger was nothing out of the ordinary. I may give it another try and order something different.

Cozy atmosphere and the staff are very welcoming, from the hostess to the servers. Food quality is always great, I’ve only tried one drink (forgot the name) but it was really good. Will definitely explore more on the beverage menu when I come back!

My ex used to work here, drinks will still take you to where you want to go and the food is pretty bomb

Local has an awesome fall patio! The beer selection is good, but the food was only okay for taste/price/portions. You come here for the beer and the vibe, not the food.

Good food. The potato skins were over deep fried though. They asked for COVID-19 proof after you were seated which was awkward for one man who was asked to leave. Why not ask at the entrance to the restaurant/

We came here last minute last night when we found out that my brother could actually eat past 5 pm (he's in surgery today). They quickly accommodated our party of 8. It was a last minute pivot as my brother is having very extensive surgery this morning and when he found out he could eat until midnight he jumped at the chance since it will be a long time before he can eat comfortably again. It was also my sisters birthday so it was a bitter sweet evening. My mother asked the staff if they had a cake we could order as a surprise, when they didn't have any cake the manger went out and got us a cake! All in all the staff was very accommodating and empathetic and we had a good time!

Been here several times. Typically have been able to get a table right away. Even though it is not on the menu anymore, the chicken tacos can still be ordered and is one of my favourites. The nachos are a bit different than other places but very good. Service is a hit or miss. They have a lovely patio during the summer.

Service was very good, and friendly. Great selection of local made draft beer, I really liked the Red Truck. Food was pretty good, appetizers were a bit disappointing, but we all enjoyed our entrees - I had the blackened chicken sandwich which was decent.

I didn't love how little seperation was was available and how a group of over 6 was allowed to sit at the end of the bar where everyone coming or going had to walk by with not much distance. It's a very Colab type space, I get that, but I would have preferred that group be at the other end of the bar instead where there was less foot traffic.

Came here to watch game 6 of the Nba Finals. We showed up early to get a table (around 415) because we had no reservations. We were attended to by Lauren who was very attentive through out the entire game and she was funny as well. For eats we chose to get the braised beef poutine and the half nachos which were both delicious. We were all really glad we came here to watch the Raptors win their first Nba title. What a great atmosphere. There's no doubt we'll be coming back here again.

Terrible service here. We waited more than 10 minutes for our waitress to come by or bring us the bill, but she never showed up or acknowledged our table when she came close by, so we just left our money on the table and left.

Ordered a $21 nacho appetizer and what came to the table was a complete disappointment. I'm being generous in saying there was 30 oily but not toasted chips, barely more cheese than a garnish, sloppy shredded chicken mixture, and the salsa was more like cheap pizza sauce. By far the smallest portion, worst tasting nachos I've ever had in a restaurant and with the high price tag they should really be ashamed of serving that

My second favorite pub in the city. Food is always on point. The staff are amazing and chill. Has one hell of a bitchen patio.

Friend’s wallet fell out of his pocket and didn’tnotice until 20 minutes after we left. Server had it waiting for him when he got back. Great service, good food (and beer)!

This is supposed to be for The Rec Room. I go there for Karaoke. The spicy chicken sandwich is really good. The prices are a bit high, but the Karaoke is with a live band, and it's free.

Great service today from Max, she was on-top of things and served our 40 person group fast and efficiently!

Went for brunch today and had to send back my avocado toast because it was so burnt it was completely black. Surprised they even allowed it to go out like that. I had asked the server to please get me a new one. She returned with a new one however the entire dish was cold. I’m sure they just transferred the potatoes and eggs over to the new plate instead of making me a new one. She did not once come by and ask how the food was at all even though I complained the first time. Very disappointed. Save your time and go to earls across the street.

They used to have a happy hour taco special that was the best thing ever. Now they charge like 8 dollars for one taco. It’s a rip off.

Best Place to watch sports, grab drinks, vegetarian friendly, try the soy drunken chicken and has the best patio for the summertime

Went the first time and got one of their salads with grilled chicken and it was amazing. Went the second time and boyfriend got the drunken chicken and it was horrible! We expected fried chicken but it was basically non authentic, white attempt at Chinese food. The sauce was thick and salty and the chicken was drenched in sauce served with rice.
We noticed there were many items on the menu that are considered Asian food (such as ramen, Szechuan flavours etc) which doesn't make much sense since this is supposed to be a sports bar type place and the name local kind of suggests local Canadian tastes. There were also not a single Asian descent worker in the restaurant so I don't understand why they are putting Asian food items on the menu when they don't taste good, don't suit the ambience of the place, nor are they made by someone who actually knows Asian cuisine. As a Chinese person, I felt a little bit offended to see this restaurant's sad attempt at incorporating Asian food into it's limited menu.
Don't get the Asian food and the other items are pretty good.

You could NOT find better service from the kitchen staff, to the servers & bartenders than at this busy little local:)

The meal was fine but the waitress showed up only rarely and clearly did not want to serve the table as much as chat with her co-workers. I still gave Mary a tip but half of normal since that approximated the level of service received. A very disappointing visit to thos location.

Went for dinner and drinks with a friend while it was busy. Sat at the bar and asked for a Smirnoff Ice raspberry, but they did not have it. The bartender suggested a raspberry cocktail and I ordered that. It was absolutely delicious, I ended up having 3! We asked the server if a table that was vacant/unwiped would be ready soon. She quickly had it cleaned for us. We had a nice window seat with views of all the games on the bigger screens. Service was amazing! The food was perfect. Open window kitchen, I didn't know where the washroom was and a friendly cook promptly pointed me in the right direction. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back! Thank you!

Local is always a great place to be. Good food, variety of food, awesome staff. It's 100% always loud in there so if you're looking for a relaxing night with a drink, may not be the best for you but other than that, great place to be.

The Nachos and Palomas are delicious. They have a decent happy hour. It is definitely a difficult place to have a conversation as it is super loud
