I live by 10717 107 St the manager is Raju and this place is full of cockroaches. The building looks good but I have seen a cockroach the day I moved in in this building and I told her. They sprayed for a year now and no changes.

But when I was 6 months pregnant I told her I felt sick so if she can reschedule and she agreed and reschedule for me but she gave me a fine fee $200 and I was so confused I asked her why she did that and she said it’s an order from office.
After I gave birth in 20 days they sprayed again even i told her my baby is sick so to change the date. And that day I lost my jewelry from my bedroom so I put key lock for my bed room.
They also broke my windows and my coach legs. I told her that and she said they don’t fix windows. And they don’t take any responsibility for lost items.
For next spray I spoke with the guy to not to spray the bedroom because no cockroach and he agreed but the manager gave me $200 fine fee again
These guys don’t care about their tenants at all now I feel I live in prison every time we slept with my baby they nock the door too laud and opened it by themselves. They always brought up reasons to open ur house with out ur permission. They are so disrespectful when you try to speak with them.

Worst company ever in Canada history.i pay my rent on time and they try to say to me I owe money for late fees and they come into my place while I am gone turn off pipes and my stuff.they turned off the heat and they said they diden't.i would call for northing if it happened.last night the maitence came and said if I come and heat is on your gonna be charged 150 dollars to me and said to me don't touch your thermas heater and he threatend to put it outside the door to lock up and I told them they gotta pay for my motel if they don't wanna fix anything inside my place and the lady over phone gave me a fake insurance number that's not working so I can't get a motel room threw the insurance I pay threw the main Street company and they refuse to fix my door lock I been asking for over a year.the manager of my building was so rude she was like I wanna talk to your worker not you and I said to her she's not the renter I am of my apartment.i been saving evidence to take them to court.these guys won't last long in the Canada system.they will find excuses not to do anything and lie to you lots

They will not answer any calls when its time to move out and will not coordinate a move out with you, then instead of contacting you they will send mail to your previous addresses for 2 years then send credit companies after you to pay for the mail and repairs, instead of just, y'know, calling or emailing you.

If you’re a student or just desperate to live somewhere cheap, here’s your sign NOT TO SIGN WITH MAINSTREET. Not even if you’re at your lowest point! These people are greedy, completely unreliable, and untrustworthy; they don’t care if you live in filth or if squatters break in.

I had to throw everything I own away due to their awful cockroach and bedbug situation that they do barely a thing about, experienced physical violence from homeless that broke in frequently, and their employees will trespass into your unit without your permission as well.

On top of this, when I left due to the atrociously disgusting and unsafe living conditions (I communicated everything throughout with my property manager and tried to work something out with him as it was two months before my 12-month lease officially ended, even letting them keep my security deposit despite having done ZERO damage; of course he ignored me), they tried to get more money out of me (another security deposit too!). This property manager is named MARCUS - do not trust him!

All this to say, they’re trying to ignore me again now that I’ve brought up taking them to court. Unprofessional and shameless. If I could give negative stars I would. DON’T DO IT!

EDIT: While I think it’s ridiculous I had to pay anything at all, we came to a compromise of minimal payment.

Rent from anyone else.

I was in the ER when the site manager locked me out. A cousin was able to grab a few things. Everything else the site manager, despite his assurances otherwise (even to the police) either stole or threw out.

They are slumlords. There were break ins and the neighborhood was horrible.

Only a few of the outlets worked when I moved in to this supposedly renovated apartment. The damage due to the break in to the apartment was only to be repaired after I was out.

This company does not know what they are doing

MainStreet is okay with their tenants living in human waste and blaming it on the tenants; even though they are 100% responsible for the maintenance of sewage lines. Now a mother and daughter are homeless thanks to their unit being contaminated with human waste. Unsafe living conditions and do not care about their tenants. Only money.

So so so terrible living here been arguing with the manager Tim for over 6 months just trying to live somewhere livable. The showers are full of rust and constantly just put out burning hot water, i literally just got working stove which is kind of an essential. I’m not sure what my rent is even paying for at this point. Electricity barely works breaker turns off multiple times a day or anytime I wanna microwave something. Broken tile that I keep scraping my feet on and making me bleed, also badly needs re groating and sealing. And they say theirs nothing wrong with my apartment. I’ve been fighting over this for 6 months and I’m so ready to just jump out the window

After moving in, I was told that once I found something strange in the building I should call mainstreet. I encountered 2 strange people in the building and felt unsafe and called them for security help. But mainstreet told me that the security works tomorrow morning. SO WHAT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY EXCEPT FOR CHARGING MONEY?

They over charged me by $355 for February rent and they still havent refunded me, are refusing to return my call me about it even though the proof is in my bank history. They wanted to credit me for March rent. I am very low income and cant afford 355. I would never rent from mainstreet again and I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

It woud not be that bad, if it were not for the cockroache infestation,

They really do nothing about i been there a year they sprayed twice, 3 months apart. If you know about cockroaches you ned 3 to 4 sprays back to back.

I complain phone head offices email. And pretty much just get ignored. Its dusgusting living with cockroaches and sad they do nothing about it.

I also heard a few of thier buildings have bed bug infestations as well.

The laundry rooms are poorly kept always dirty and the dryer doesnt work. They do nothing about it.

Rent is cheap but not cheap enough to share wuth coxkroached

I have had no issues since moving into my apartment. Any issues have been immediately handled by staff in a timely and professional manner. Anyone that I have ever talked to has been very patient and polite. I would definitely recommend Mainstreet if your looking to rent.

Constantly finding drug addictics in the stairwell, or breaking into closets or laundry room. Mail boxes are ritually broken into every month. Management is usually useless. Secretary stops at 5: 30 am, so when you find them in the morning, well nothing going to happen. Unless you call the cops, but unless there stabbing someone at the time. From the moment we met with Michelle, we knew we were with the right company. She made everything so easy. Then when our apartment wasn't ready to move in on time (she asked for a full reno) they let us move into another apartment until ours was ready. So far Mainstreet Equities has been amazing to deal with!

If you are on the fence about renting from this business, I would 10/10 NOT recommend. I will commend them for having cheaper renting options however this comes at a price for everything.

I was a tenant here from 2021-2022 at a downtown location. The majority of the customer service that you receive is superficially pleasant as they are trying their best to get your service. During my tenancy the inconsistency with staff was extremely unprofessional as someone would tell you something the opposite of the next. I assume they have high turnover of staff indicating this.

One of their sales ladies was extremely unprofessional and rude. When I as the consumer questioned why I was being charged a fee for an "e-transfer" charge when I was not provided with informed consent prior to making the exchange, which as a consumer I should be informed of these things, the lady had the audacity to call me and yell at me over the phone. She was extremely condescending and manipulative in the attempts to get me to pay this fee when I simply was requesting for information.

In terms of maintenance requests, I would have to submit 2-3 requests and even at times go above that and have to hunt a worker down to get the maintenance request across which was unnecessarily time consuming and highlights their lack of dedication towards their tenants.

The walls in these apartment buildings are thin and I have overheard numerous conversations between my neighbours and the ever changing resident managers in regards to bed bugs and treatments needing to be done on the units that tenants are vacating.

Lastly, halfway through my tenancy we got notice that our parking spots were changed by a message posted at the rear exit. The numbers on the stalls outside no longer corresponded with our unit numbers, I confirmed this with my resident manager at the time and was told the numbers would be repainted. Alas, the numbers did not get repainted despite my reach out to the resident manager (As I was hoping to avoid the situation due to the high turnover of staff), when I came home someone was parked in my stall, and I reached out to the office in which the person I was speaking to told me they do not have the contact information for their resident managers. Once someone got in contact with me a day later, the person I spoke to gaslighted me that I needed to park in the stall that was corresponding to my unit number despite that not being what I was told from my resident manager.

Hope that gives some ideas of what your experiences might be if you choose to stay with this company. I am a young professional and I hold myself to that and have tried my best to be patient with them. I normally do not leave reviews, however I genuinely felt compelled to share my experiences so that if you are hesitating on whether or not to rent with this business, to simply walk away and rent elsewhere. You deserve better.

No heat during last Christmas week. Called the maintenance for a hundred times then but no one answered. They renovated apartments without any notice to the neighbors and you could hear the noise anytime, even 8am on Sunday. Pretty old apartments, found large areas of mold on the kitchen cupboard the first day I moved in (and they refused to fix those). Packages got stolen. You got what you paid for.

Aussie was very helpful and showed us numerous apartments in the area near Nait in Edmonton where we were looking to find something. We were driving in from out of town and he was very accommodating. He showed us the apartments on the weekend at a time that worked for us. He was very pleasant, personable and easy to deal with.

Kim the Compton area manager is one of the best landlords I have so far. She is super friendly, easy to talk, professional. Her communication to tenants is great even if she don't speak same language she goes above and beyond so we understand. She gets things done. I'm super happy to have her as our landlord

Best management company I have had the pleasure of dealing with. Winnie, at the 112th Street location near the U of A, was super helpful anytime there was an issue with the apartment and was very fair during the check-out inspection.

The apartment was built earlier. At present, houses are being built on both north and south sides, which have certain effects, such as dust and noise. Therefore, I hope the Lessor will consider giving some benefits.
The main reason for choosing to rent a house is that it is close to the office and the internal facilities basically meet the needs of life. More importantly, Miss Winnie, the building administrator, has strong business ability, can handle all kinds of emergencies and arrange maintenance in time. The work of her and the maintenance team made up for the deficiencies caused by some old facilities in the building. So I give five-star praise.

Somerset building is the worst building because homeless people can come and go almost every day we have problem with these people.they are so rude, smoking inside the apartment, and in the laundry room, making a mess in the laundry room, taking a bath in the laundry room and scattering their garbages.we don't know if we are safe here especially that we have children.

My apartment was broken into 3 weeks ago. The lock on the door has been broken ever since and I have contacted Mainstreet over 10 times. I live in a less than safe area and for some reason mainstreet cannot get the issue fixed despite the fact we have homeless breaking in at night, theft issues in the area, and tenants complaining daily. Once your lease is signed you will not be able to successfully contact anybody you need to at mainstreet. DO NOT RENT FROM MAINSTREET

Avoid the company if you could, especially a guy called Udey. Here are why:
The company bought too many properties in short time and they are not able to service. Bed bugs are all over the units, the cheaper the price the more bedbugs. And they can’t treat in time, I waited for weeks to get scheduled, and they paste paper on my door when I was away on business trip, and they charge me for “non-cooperation”.
The upstairs and next door always party and drug people walk in and out. This happened before I moved in and all of this information was hidden by the name mentioned above, just to make me sign and pay. He disappeared after money taken.
Mailbox was broke in, several times. Not company fault, but they don’t try to fix it either.
I lived for one month and couldn’t live here anymore, and end up I was charged 1000 dollars lease broken fee, and almost 200 for unit renovation.
Do not trust any promises made here, and they can make up any stories to screw you. Once you live in, you are not in your own hands anymore.

I'm really mixed feelings, I've rented for over a year. All last winter, I basically had maintenance on speed dial, so send secretary to my building, because of homeless and crack heads break in the back door. Some one keeps breaking into the mailboxes, like twice a month, and they refused to fix them. A keep asking them to fix the lights by the front and back doors, so it's not so dark, or inviting to the homeless. My landlord said be would a couple of times. I'd seen a lot of negative reviews on the properties I was looking at to lease, but they were from years ago. So I thought about giving Mainstreet the benefit of the doubt and thought that they'd worked towards being better at managing properties. But nope. Mainstreet is a scam.
I was told by an agent that a security deposit is needed to reserve the apartment, and until my application is accepted I can cancel it and will be refunded my application. I cancelled application and what do I come to know? I won't get a refund because that's not their policy. The agents will lie to you to rent out their apartments, and management takes no responsibility. I've called Mainstreet multiple times about this for the last 3 months but I still have no response.

Tl;dr- Mainstreet Equity is a scam, just rent somewhere else.

Since Mainstreet took over our apartment complex just under 6 months ago, we have started having so many issuses in a building that was previously very well maintained. For example, the light in our laundry room has been out for over 2 months now. Call boxes have also been out for the same amount of time if not longer. We have been missing deliveries. Grounds maintenance has taken a huge turn down as well. It's only the first big snowfall of the season and nothing has been cleared yet. The sidewalks, paths and parking lots are all completely covered. This is all unacceptable, considering the main office is only a few blocks away and they obviously had the time to come in and put the Mainstreet logo on each and every unit's door. Any time I have tried to contact someone, I have been directed to a voicemail. Long story short, they have turned a comfortable and quiet building into an inconvenient and unpleasant one.

They let crazy people rent their apartment. There is a guy living in the same building with me and he has a drinking problem and always swears and yells at other tenants. He yelled the first me I moved in. The manager smiled and told me "he's good! ". I wish I had take the hint.

I called to inquire about an apartment and the guy who picked up Hassan was incredibly rude. He kept speaking to me as if I was dumb. I understand he had to explain policy but he was speaking angrily and aggressively and kept calling me "my dear" in a condescending way. I know he must probably deal with lots of people calling to inquire a day and maybe has gotten frustrated and doesn't want to waste his time, but I've called other places and when they were explaining their policies on income to rent ratio they weren't speaking to me so angrily and aggressively.

I inquired about a listing I found on Kijiji. This bachelor apartment was listed for $650 and the ad mentioned something about flex leasing option. The ad states that with flex lease, they would require higher damage deposit which I was okay with. Lo and behold, if you want a flex lease the rent is actually $700 for this same exact apartment. Completely false advertising. The last time I checked damage deposit means damage deposit not rent.

"*All suites can be toured virtually via Facetime or WhatsApp. **Ask about our Flex-Leases if you are looking for a shorter lease term due to the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19. Flex-Leases are subject to a higher security deposit / damage deposit. " This is what is on your ad on Kijiji and many others if not all of them. I failed to find the one you quoted. Maybe you need to add that and revise your postings accordingly as they are highly misleading. Many of your ads, if not all, say flex leases are subject to a higher damage deposit. I don't remember security deposit being a regular, monthly occurrence.

This is a perfect place for someone who needs quiteness. It's affordable the people who show the places are very good to talk with and answers all? Asked I'm very happy here and was very scared to live in apartment's due to noise. But this one I am in is very impressive. Thank you again to Michelle from mainstreet for finding me this place.

I had the worst experience of my life. I found a place in Oliver square (Hudson arms) 10625 117street. I got to move in early as that’s mainstreet policy, so I moved in august 27th-31st my lease didn’t start until September 1st. I had found over 8 cockroaches in a span of 4 days two of which I actually stayed in the unit. I contact the manger right away and she would do a spray but I also have a 2 year old and I was so scared to have them spray and find more as he’s curious and would touch them and they carry a very scary disease. I told her I wanted to move out and what this would look like she said she would get back to me and she did within 5 minutes she said you will receive your damage and rent within 10 days which is not true it is now September 22nd and I just got my move out report yesterday. I have been completely ignored at this point I’ve been calling the offices like crazy to get this dealt with, I was told you will receive a message from the higher up manager which is not true. I am very upset. I had to throw out all my belongings as I didn’t wanna transfer my stuff to another place and bring them. I cried for days on end because I was disgusted. They knew that there was cockroaches as I found a couple traps for them! I’m not sure how I can get ahold of a regional manager but I will be taking this to the media and tenancy act board! I was also told I would not be getting a move I’m report, they didn’t give me one or do it with me when I moved in they said it was already done!

Working with Dr. Udey Singh was an absolute pleasure. He accommodated all my needs and spent extra time with us, showing us lots of units and really putting in effort to find the perfect space for me and my dog that was clean, cute and affordable. He gave me recommendations for affordable electrical and internet companies, and for some of the best restaurants in the area! He even met with me to sign documents and get keys on his weekend off!
In general, my new apartment is well lit, clean and everyone in my building has been really nice to me. I'm really pleased with Mainstreet Equity, and especially Dr. Singh.

It's been over 30 days and damage from severe flooding still has not been repaired. They are evasive unresponsive and will try to enter your suite with NO NOTICE NO WARNING while you are sleeping. They will rent to whomever and not pay any care to the safety and comfort of their tenants. Absolutely appalling.

Went to Edmonton to find a place for my daughter who’s starting university on September. Had set up
a few viewings that got canceled for no reason while we were still on the road. Called Mainstreet Equity and got lucky that Udey picked up the phone. He stayed with us basically all day to show us apartments in different locations, listened to our needs. He did a such amazing job as a rental agent and worked so hard to find the right apartment. Very professional, extremely helpful and so polite, he just made our weekend. No pressure applied at any time. We are so impressed and extremely grateful to him, we highly recommend Mainstreet’s Udey Singh. Thank you so much, keep up the incredible customer service attitude. Definitely a rarity to find these days.

Haven't lived in my apartment for 2 months and I've already had to pack everything back up so they can fumigate next week. Don't rent with mainstreet, guaranteed to have cockroachs and my bedroom light doesn't work properly which is a huge fire hazard which I have addressed multiple times.
Neighbour's said they fumigated 4-5 months ago. Disgusting service and disgusting buildings.

Had an apartment with them when I was 18 many many years ago, the apartment building had bed bugs, the Place got fumigated 3 times and they came back each time, so many problems we had with the landlord as well. Super unprofessional. So I broke my lease and left. 2 months ago I was looking for a place and checked out mainstreet hoping maybe they'd be different now, I told them of my experience before and they said they don't have any pests in the UNITS they'd be showing me so I said I wasn't interested and the lady was pushing me to look and sign a lease, the unit had bed bug raid in it and was so dingy. Im not desperate. But for people who can't afford better options or are desperate, mainstreet needs to do better. So Disgusting

DO NOT RENT WITH MAIN STREET, we Lived in the ingelwood apartments from July 2020-December 2020 and ended up moved because of a German cockroach infection and building was not taken care of, after making us wait weeks with cockroaches we had our building fumigated 2 times over the time Spand of 3 months and they were still cockroaches, now they are trying to charge me $1000.00 lease break fee because I moved before my year lease was up but Mainstreet failed to provide a safe, clean and rodents free living environment. Do not recommend!
