If you want to be respected, receive maintenance in a timely manner, receive your damage deposit back with no issues, or be treated with any decency DO NOT move into ANY property owned by Mainstreet.
These people only care about themselves and making money.

I moved into a building that was still being renovated, for the entire year of my lease, they did not fix my buzzer.
It took me multiple attempts during -30 weather to get my heating fixed, twice they just patched it up and it kept dying and finally after pushback they came and replaced the thing that kick starts the radiators.

Getting a hold of property managers is impossible, and even trying to contact customer service is a waste of time. Many calls and emails left unreturned.

It has been more than 10 days since I vacated my apartment and still no sign of my deposit back, and no response from the property management.

These people are crooks. Do NOT move into these apartments.

He worst customer service from building managers to regional managers. I moved in the floor pieces come out.asked if they could fix it band aide fix. Came back 1 year later same fix.can't fix floors if your in it BS. Elevator keeps breaking down only 1 elevator. Mobility issues so stairs with a walker impossible. Grocery need to be brought in again walker can't do stairs. Cockroaches main floor also a few tenant have complained no solution if you have no where to go. So fix it yourself helps me cause i figured out how.garbage area is freaking sad, garbage every where in build out side of bins. Cleanliness pfft don't get me stared.they need to live in their builds and be told sorry nothing we can do.

I feel fortunate to have not gotten the opportunity to rent from this company after reading reviews.
I have spent the last month trying to contact this company, almost desperate for a place to live, and it’s just not possible.
Make as many calls as you went, send as many texts or emails, leave all the voice mails, they simply do not care to reply.
I’m not even confident that I could talk to someone face to face if I went to their office at this point.

I've had an unpleasant experience at one of their sites in Edmonton because of their terrible management. No one seems to take the ownership or responsibility all they've tried is to pass it on to other person. As a result of it, I ended up paying for I was not supposed to.

I would strongly suggest everyone to watch out and avoid renting at Mainstreet.

My friend lives at the 1612 24 Ave SW Calgary location. This building is a disaster. It looks like it never get's cleaned (literally the entire building), there is a pool of cigarette butts in the front that have been there since she moved in. There is garbage everywhere, and everyday one of the tenants parks in the visitor parking, leaving only 1 stall for visitor parking. The manager of this building needs to step up and get it cleaned because it is hard to look at.

**FOR DOG OWNERS** Like many of the reviews here will attest to, this company is extremely hard to book a viewing with.
The biggest disappointment - considering they seem to have really flooded the market in Calgary - is their boast of being pet-friendly. When I finally did manage to get in contact with someone on the phone, I was informed that they don't accept dogs over 25lbs. I understand weight limits for dogs, but it would have been nice if it was mentioned on literally any of their postings so I didn't have to waste my time trying to get ahold of them.

I have sent dozens of emails, filled out applications, and left voice-mails, but have only received a response from one leasing agent (shout out to Nancy Perrin!). All I receive in response are automated emails asking for the exact information provided in my initial correspondence.

I have confirmed that they are listing units that have no availability, presumably to run a waiting list. It's completely unnecessary in this market and is probably skewing the statistics related to housing availability.

I've decided to avoid Mainstreet at all costs, as it seems like a very unprofessional and shady way to run a business. Collecting personal and sensitive information from individuals when you don't have a unit available has to be in breach of some sort of consumer or privacy legislation.

Customer service works like clock's, from AliExpress. Guys, even if you don't have nothing to give for rent, just say about it, don't waste other people time. I left 3 st#pid applications, and waited more than a week, no one lasy manager contacted me. So, they will tell you a lot, but, don't waste your time, look in somewhere else)

This is a very large company, and they have some pretty big communication issues. Mainstreet purchased the building I was living in in November 2022. They could have benefitted greatly from talking to the tenants and/or really looking at the building, but they run everything remotely and we were managed by someone who wasn't familiar enough with the building to know that there was one big boiler and not individual water heaters in each unit. They listed the building as having underground parking on their website (not a thing), and patrol security (not that I ever saw), and in-suite storage (only available in some units, others have hall storage).
Snow and ice removal was an issue, to the point where I bought and spread de-icer when I was moving out because I slipped and fell when I was taking trash to the dumpster and knew I would have to make more trips out that way the next day.
My move out was pretty easy as they were going to renovate my unit after I left, but there was still a small amount of money missing from my deposit without explanation when I received it back. I called and left 3 voice mails and sent 3 emails over the course of 23 days before I went in person in the office to talk to someone. If I could rate the person who spoke with me and fixed the simple accounting issue I'd give them 5 stars. It took all of 5 minutes. It didn't need to be that hard.
I will be going out of my way to not rent with them again, it was not a smooth operation and with a company this large it should have been.

Horrible management. Tried harassing me for money after I moved out and they violated many parts of my lease. Don't charge me for stuff you refused to fix while I lived there

The lady at the front reception desk was extremely rude to multiple people before speaking with me. When speaking with her she simply looked at me as if I was stupid the whole time, to which my fiance and I just walked out.

Difficult experience trying to do business with this company. It is very difficult to get anyone on the phone. Ran into many full voicemails before being able to get someone on the phone. When I did, she asked for some basic information such as my preferred move in date and latest possible move in date. They told me they would be in touch soon. It has since been a month, 5 days past my latest possible move in date and I have not heard a word back from this company. Very disappointed as they have reasonable rent prices and many buildings to choose from. Would have been very happy to rent from them had I been able to get a call back or a viewing but alas I have not.

They took my deposit and have been giving me the run around. None of the apartments they have listed or show you are actually available.

Awful, I have not had a good run with this company. Hard to get in contact with anyone, website is a mess (atleast on a smartphone it is). And the place I’m living at currently, threw this company, is less then good. We have mice, a leaking problem, and very little as been done. The staff member I’ve discussed my rent agreement with, was the worst. Never did his work on time, always last minute. Would forget about planned meetings, had to remind him to check my emails. Truly felt like I wasn’t a costumer, but more like a parent trying to get there kid to do their chores.
Sucks that a company with bad service owns most of the affordable rentals.

Holly Milanko is shady af. I woukd never recommend this company after the experience I had with her. She lies and steals your money. She sees up lies to take you damage deposit and uses a person's mental health to torment them. It's horrible how she treats people. Her little dog maggie is just as bad. Making up lies and constantly yelling at tenants when they haven't done anything wrong.it's winter sorry that I didn't wipe my feel completely dry when coming in. Then there is their gard dog Bruno. He signs Holly's name on documents that she should be signing. He manipulates tenants and forces then to sign thing they don't agree with. Holly knew I have agoraphobia and I'm very uncomfortable around men. She woukd send Bruno to my place to complain about things. They make up lies and bully tenants they can't boss around. NEVER RENT FROM HERE!

I lived in one of their rentals years back, and when I moved out, the lady who did the final walk through was something special. She knit picked the place apart and only things she could come up with were the bathroom wasn't spotless and the oven that I had never used in the year I live in the apartment was dirty. As I had already moved and cleaned the apartment she basically told me I would be getting any of my deposit back because the oven wasn't clean. So in order to get my deposit back I used the hoodie I was wearing to wash the over back. One of my favorite hoodies at the time and was ruined by scrubbing the inside of an oven. After she was happy with how clean it was we walked out and locked the door. To which she told me it wasn't likely I would be getting any of the deposit back. After months of arguing with their office about the money I finally gave up on getting anything back. This was the last time I ever rented from this company. If I ever return to renting this is one company I would never even consider renting from mainstreet again. Hope this helps some people. And if your already in a lease with them when they try to keep your deposit ask them to show the receipts for all the repairs as I'm sure there won't be any for them to show you.
