Like I said before there is nothing nearby like cafes restaurants, take out we walked about 8 minutes however it was in the fridge of gold -45 - 50 so even a couple of minutes would not have been good so unless we're mistaken there is nothing nearby that's the only downfall everything else was great
Considering serious decay in downtown Edmonton, finding a decent dwelling can be challenging, and it doesn't get better than Matrix. I highly recommend booking your stay here because anywhere else you go, you run the risk of encountering a lack of professionalism and poorly maintained, musky, dirty rooms. Standards in downtown hotels are so low, so if you want to avoid a disappointing experience, this is the right place to book. There is a Starbucks right next to it, but I would suggest you don't spend your money there, as Matrix offers much better quality coffee in their rooms. Parking was easy and location is in a close proximity of everything business people need.
The front desk and housekeeping staff are very responsive and kind, willing to accommodate our unusual requests, such as bringing us chocolate at 3 am. Thank you, guys! We stayed a few days in their King rooms and a few days in the Platinum suite, which I would highly recommend since you truly get the value of what you're paying for. Shoutout to the entire team for making our stay fantastic!
However, the food is not very good, except for the breakfast buffet. The menu needs a serious revision, and the men working at the Loft restaurant at night aren't as hands-on as they could be. Still, we received royal treatment from a lady named Corinna, who was an absolute gem, helping us out and serving exactly what we ordered.
We will only stay at Matrix during our Edmonton work trips.
We've been doing staycations here every year for the past 5 years. The front reception is always comforting, the rooms are clean and spacious, and the brunch three next morning is fantastic.
The LRT is only a block away and it's super close to many local breweries and little places to eat/ drink.
Access to the trolley that takes you to Whyte Ave is only a few blocks away and a nice walk.
A pig with lipstick, furniture is chipped and the baseboard is a hazard for injury. They've brushed this up too look new but it's very dated, for the price go anywhere else.
Hotel looks decent on the outside but I was mortified staying here when I got to the room! The door had been clearly broken into as you could see and still smell the wood glue bubbling around the door latch, the metal plates were sliding around the door and had the sticky solution almost completely removed, the bathroom shower had water spraying in every direction and coming from around the back of the fixture along with the actual shower heads, the TV screen had a camera installed and when I called down it took 4 tries to reach someone and they told me I couldn't change rooms. The buffet breakfast has ZERO vegan and Gluten free options. Not to mention having to practically give a dna sample to get checked in as my passport and birth certificate were not enough to prove my name on my credit card matched. I will never stay here again. High risk of being human trafficked and/or assaulted staying here. There were quite a few drug induced people roaming around the outside of the hotel as well as in the parking lot to be on very high alert with.
This location is simple convivence. I will consider the Matrix again. It was clean, comfortable and convenient. There are many different room sizes and costs be sure to inquire for your knowledge and expectations. - great location by map and walking to events; but not really a "destination" to justify the some of their high demand price "for me".
Great location and very central to my business meetings in Edmonton. Suite is spacious and well appointed! A must stay for business or pleasure while visiting Edmonton. Thank you!
I had a great stay at this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location was convenient. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
Great experience! The complimentary drinks at Loft106 are a nice twist, and the wine was very good! Comfortable and spacious rooms. Could improve lighting with ceiling fixtures, but there are several lamps around the room so it's ok. (A general lightswitch that turns all of them off would be more practical when leaving the room!) Excellent bathroom, comfy bed, great location (few minute walk to central downtown) and super friendly staff.
Fantastic Location, Great staff! Incredible Breakfast. However The 4 to 6 oclock social is much better in nearby hotels. This could use work. Actual hand foods and 2 drinks at no charge. Presently you get 1/2 a beer and expensive appetizers that were not very good. Also the staff in the restaurant seem more interested in getting tips than serving guests. Often visting amongst each other instead of chatting up guests. They could learn from the front counter staff on how to be more engaged. Overall a great place to stay.
Excellent hotel charm in the heart of the city.one block from LRT access and pubs to eat at.hotel was very clean, most comfortable bed and pillows we have ever stayed at.highly recommend
We held our wedding at the Matrix Hotel and I can tell you, it was the best place! We did both the ceremony and reception in their banquet rooms and they took care of all the details. Our guest were happy that they didn't have to go to another location. The buffet was by far the best I'd ever had - all of our guests commented on how good the meal was. The rooms are beautiful and well appointed & the staff so nice and accommodating! I highly recommend The Matrix Hotel for any events or just a night's stay in Edmonton.
I have very mixed feelings about my stay. Everything was ok during check in, but when I got to the room, it looks like the couples package we purchased was forgotten about. So I had to stop by the front desk to ask for the chocolates and wine. Then another stop by the front desk to ask about the breakfast vouchers. There was a cockroach on our bed which we brought down to the front desk at night in a cup. The front desk collected the bug and cup but never bothered to ask our room number. The room was otherwise clean. In the morning the breakfast was amazing. We loved it. During checkout we were told a manager would be reaching out but never did receive a call. So I am on the fence if we will be back or if we will be recommending the Matrix Hotel.
Exceeded my expectations. Rooms are nice, they have a pretty good gym that was quite quiet on my visit, the front desk was friendly and they have a Starbucks on site. The only comment around improvement would be the restaurant. It is a typical hotel restaurant with mediocre food and adequate service. They really have an opportunity to improve their restaurant. The included breakfast was way above other restaurants and was good for a “continental” breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to business travellers and I will book again the next time I’m in town.

We went here for an event. The hotel room is beautiful but very dark. We booked three occupants in one room but all the amenities in the room were set for two people so that was inconvenient to have to call downstairs to get an extra set of towels, soaps, coffee mug, etc. I would expect if it's booked at three occupants, that is what you pay for so it would be reflected in the room. The breakfast by far was the best. The selection is absolutely perfect and plenty. From fruits to pastries, eggs, bacon Sausage, coffee machine wow it was one of the best breakfast spreads I have seen. I would book there just to experience the breakfast again! I do want to mention though that make sure you get the breakfast time correct. Front desk told me a different time and the room card said a different time. You really don't want to miss it. If you need a microwave they can provide one so let them know when you are booking.
They were under construction with their front lobby but no one told me when we booked. I had no clue so when I parked I went to the front then had to walk back all the way down the side to get in to the hotel. It was a bit frustrating when it's - 20 outside dragging your suitcase to the main entrance. Perhaps better signs as you pass the construction side door would help or letting your guests know when they book. Parking also was not Included so had to pay additional $25 dollars which I wasn't expecting but its downtown Edmonton so hey it is a possibility.
Overall great hotel and experience with a few hiccups but overall it was good. I would stay again for another event for sure or girls weekend.
The room was ok but there was a rip in the bed sheets and the light in the bathroom was barely working, the breakfast buffet is very good and service is great.
