I personally learnt so much and had a wonderful time!
This is an amazing college where students can expand their knowledge and clients pay a VERY small portion of product costs for a service that ranges to the $100+ mark at other salons/spas.
Honestly, just be kind, patient and respectful to the students.
They are learning through doing practice and gaining experience in certain methods they have recently learnt. We’ve all been in that situation before, whether in school or new jobs. The students are great and just starting off in the industry. Sometimes mistakes happen, but they learn from it. It’s what’s to be expected getting a service done at a learning facility.
Like, getting a balayage for $60+ that’s usually priced at $150-$200?

Very unfortunate experience here. The student cut my hair several inches shorter than discussed, and that isn't the worst part! I had asked for long layers in the bulk - which she kind of added, as well as face framing layers - which I noticed once I got home - she totally forgot to cut at all! My hair is curly and was diffused so some of these issues were hard to see until I inspected further. It looks quite bad and I will have to pin everything back out of sight so the terrible cut is covered up: (

I am also disappointment that no teacher came by to check her cut and correct the issues before I was sent home. For students, they need to learn from their mistakes and a teacher should definitely be checking to make sure they did the job right.

Amazing experience getting my hair done at MC! The receptionist, Rose, made my experience very smooth and was so thoughtful to let me know when all the specials take place!
My hair stylist, Grace, was so accommodating and genuine. I loved the results!

Got a bikini wax with Abby B today, I was scared but she was amazing! Pain free, she was very reassuring and made the whole experience 10/10! I would absolutely recommend her to anyone!

As a student at this school I can say that I love and always will love coming here! From the staff like the ladies who run the desk in the salon, to all the instructors! You always pick up different techniques from different staff members and get to know them on a more professional level! Love this place!

Nada straightened my hair so well! I have 3C hair and she was so patient with me and explained everything she was doing. Im definitely coming again!

My first time ever getting my hair done at a salon and it was AMAZING. Hannah knew exactly what she was doing. She cut and perfectly styled my hair (textured 3c), and it turned out amazing. Will be returning! Ask for Hannah if you have curly, straight, or any type of hair! 10/10

I booked for a balayage. But after assessing my hair, color correction was needed. So Ada and instructor Eden + Tara came up with a plan and made necessary changes throughout to ensure my hair remains intact and in good condition. They were friendly, patience, organized, flexible and I see a lot of critical thinking throughout the entire 8 hrs process. I came with 100% trust, leaving with 1000% happiness. Thank you all 3 amazing ladies. Ada, you've graduated in my opinion haha

The instructors and staff are very kind and listen to your needs! Definitely a learning environment for students so you’ll need to be patient but the service is good.

Canceled my appointment with less than 24 hours notice and made no effort to rebook me. Couldn’t even be bothered to call to let me know, they sent me a text that had spelling errors and a phone number that does not exist. I see in other reviews that this is a common way to treat salon guests. Why not include a disclaimer when booking stating that services can be canceled at any time with zero notice? If I had seen that when I booked, I would’ve saved myself the headache and frustration and just booked elsewhere. I’d give 0 stars if I could.

Very disappointed! If I could rate no stars. I would have. I left the salon crying and my scalp hurting. It was sort for days after. Never got an apology from the instructor or the stylist. I've been coming to MC College for at least 16 years. Even when they were in the old building. I understand you can't always get the same results each time. I told them what I wanted, the instructor said no we can't do that. But I had the same color treatment done before and it came out beautifully at this very salon. The instructor was so rude. The stylist proceeded with the color. Not once did the instructor check her work. I told the stylist that I wasn't happy with the result. She then proceeded to comb my hair. Roughly pulling it as she was combing. I felt like I was being abused. The instructor came by and I expressed that I was not happy. She told the stylist to not bother finishing, just dry my hair and that was it. No toner was used. The attitude of the instructor was appalling. Do you not think that customer service should be taught as well as the practical requirements. It's been a few months since I was there. Thought maybe I would receive an apology. But no. Should I try again?

It was awesome experience they always have smile in there face, good suggestions I got for my hair

I had a fantastic appointment at MC College Salon. My stylist Sydney was attentive and precise. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she replicated it to the best of her ability. She asked questions about exactly what I wanted and it turned out awesome! As a student at Macewan it was super affordable and well done. I will definitely be coming back!

I haven’t been to MC in about 8 years and I figured why not indulge in their $10 haircut special, a simple dye job and dyed brows. I called ahead of time to ask if all of these things could be done. The receptionist reassured me that it was possible. I have the easiest haircut (a buzzcut) it was a bit grown out. I am a woman and prefer my sideburns to be left alone. I showed her a picture of my last cut with colour and unfortunately the lady didn’t communicate with me because or ask what type of shape I wanted and she didn’t seem very confident in what I wanted. She kept asking if this is what I really wanted. While she cut my hair she was very quiet and was razoring behind my ears for quite sometime. I had my glasses off so I couldn’t see exactly what she was doing. When she finished I put on my glasses and was immediately upset. I’m very disappointed in the lack of courtesy. I don’t think I’ll be back. Please teach your students to communicate effectively with their clients. I hope this review improves the school. I won’t be going back.
