Like other renters, my experience with McCall landing was not great. The management at High Street completely dropped the ball to the renters providing no clarity or support as they shuffled duties to the condo board. Leaving you as having no ability to input on the condo board but them having control over aspects of your rental service that High Street should have taken responsibility for. I was told that we no longer had free access to the elevator for move out and we had to pay condo dues for it. That's illegal. I was told to use the stairs, but my furniture wouldn't fit down, it came up via the elevator.

We, like countless others, were evicted when they decided to sell all our units. So, it was no surprise when they claimed almost all our deposit fee to pay for their renovations to get the unit up to code for selling. Cheap carpet, two coats of flat paint, scuffed walls with wash marks only halfway up the walls were the conditions I moved in to. I complained of these in move in day and was told they were expected when moving into a rental. Some were written down some were not. I ended up having to pay regardless.

Renters, don't bother cleaning your suites when you move out. Consider your deposit surrendered and save yourself the hassle. And don't expect them to meet you

New owners, be advised the elevators are constantly broken down all weekend. The garage doors are constantly stuck all weekend. Your neighbours will let their pets pee and poop on the carpets and elevator and just let it smudge into the carpet. Trash will pile up in giant piles outside the moloks and dogs will get into it. The paint is thin and flat, it will need to be redone. The carpet is cheap and wears out over only a few years. The bathtubs are low and they put wood baseboards in that will bubble and need to be replaced. The cabinets are cheap and show every fingerprint. The dishwashers combined with hard water need to be decalcified on a monthly basis or they do nothing. In four years they never bothered to recaulk the counters. This place was designed pretty but cheap.

The room layouts are bright and open. The location is excellent with quick access to Stoney and Deerfoot. But the management here is not worth dealing with.

I've rented in half a dozen places and this is the only one who considered 40 hours of cleaning insufficient (including 10 hours done by a professional cleaner family member).

I looked around in Calgary for two weeks before I settled on McCall landing. The distinguishing factors from other properties were spacious units, amenities including gym, ensuite laundry and active property managers. Since we started living here, I have had nothing but pleasant experiences. Minor issues were taken care of by Larissa and Bryan with urgency, care and personal responsibility. They have always responded to my requests with a quick turnaround time and a solution approach. It is a relatively early review so I will come back and update after completing my first year. Thanks for making this place great with your efforts.
Update after moving out: We continued to have a good experience but we were given notice to vacate in June 2023 as they were selling the unit. This was the worst time to be give notice to vacate as the rental market was crazy and I had to move out to a unit where I am now paying twice the rent almost. The closing process was good and I got the full damage deposit back. I have good memories of my stay and dealing with Highstreet apart from the abrupt end to our stay 18 months from when we started residing there.

Highstreet staff (4 stars) is good but the simco management who handles all the maintenance of the property is the worst. Frequent lift out of order. Gym machines and equipment are never repaired. Had complained for treadmill not working to simco management in January 2023 and it’s was not repaired until I moved out.

I will never recommend anyone to rent out apartment through this property management company. I have rented out an apartment from last year and all I had to do deal was with problematic management policies and half of the times there have been issues with elevators not working. They have a condo board full of old people who will literally spy on you to see what’s happening in the building and complain about it. Besides, when I moved out, as I was the last tenant in particular apartment (putting their apartment on sale) they started charging me for cleaning fees $200 for approx 800 sq ft 1 bed apartment, $100 for small balcony even though the entire apartment was cleaned, missing microwave filters (might be overlooked by them) which I wasn’t even responsible for and some other stuff. I had a possession up until 1 pm on the last day of my move out and the management decided to do final inspection after 1 pm which is absolutely wrong. It is their responsibility to do inspection before 1 pm so that if there is any issues, they could have reached out to me before charging me the invalid amount. Moreover, without my signature on the Security Deposit agreement, they refunded the final amount after deductions even though I was disputing the charges.

I have never dealt with this type of management company. I will not recommend this rental company to anyone. They will rip off by applying invalid charges on the move out day.

Try to solve elevator and other building issues to make tenants experience smoother rather than focusing on the members of condo board and their unreasonable policies.

A nice building but the worst neighbours that literally spy on you. I have caught the “condo board” staring into my condo on more than one occasion. Im disgusted that older folks can stare into my home as they see fit.
Also, the elevators are broken more than 2x a week, and the front door locks from the inside. Instead of the condo board using binoculars to stare into my condo window, maybe they should fix the other issues.

We’ve been here for over 3 years and have enjoyed renting with high street at mcall landing! The staff are very helpful and respond very quickly. Issues are addressed in a timely manor and communication is great to all tenants, renters and owners! The social programs are also very enjoyable and creative. I have recommended high street to all my family and friends!

We love this complex! Easy access, friendly neighbours, great layout units and decent size patios! Heated underground parking makes it very comfortable in winter!
