McKenzie Towne Family Dental

I've had a fear of dentist since the age of 5yrs old. Dr. M and his staff were amazing. He did everything in his power to keep me calm and pain free during my visits. Sadly my fears have resulted in dentures, and Dr M has taken the lead on my procedure. He did a amazing job on my husband the year prior to me. Without problems i'm a month and a half in and it's been a adjustment but i wouldn't trust anyone else. Thank you Dr. M and the wonderful staff aswell.

Hygienist I had was so rough, and no bedside manner, will not be returning - there are so many places to choose from in south Calgary. They all overcharge - so no reason to be loyal to any one dental office anymore.
The response from this business is FALSE. My family and I were customers here for over a decade when Dr. Brothers owned the business and we were always happy with the care and service. Do they expect me to put my home email on the review? LOL.

So happy I was able to get in on Saturday to get my tooth fixed. Great work and service. Thanks again.

The staff were all friendly and polite. They assured my son that there’s nothing to worry about. They made sure that my son’s first tooth extraction would not be a traumatic experience.

Friendly, considerate staff and easy to book in. Dentists and hygienists here are great if you’re an adult with some anxiety about dentists.

My appointment was at 11: 40 for a cleaning & check up, didn’t leave until 1: 30, I thought that 2 hours was a long time for that process

Dr Magharius is my absolute favourite dentist I’ve ever been to. I hate going to see the dentist, and have hated the experience all my life. Today I had a root canal as a result! I was so nervous and worried. Dr Magharius has the best bed side manner along with the wonderful dental assistance, and ensured I felt comfortable and reassured me all the way through. I can honestly saw it was not sore. Now 7 hours post procedure I still haven’t had to take any pain meds. He was so gentle and clearly did a wonderful job. Highly recommend this dental practise. Added bonus, they offer dental payment plans to help anyone who doesn’t want to pay out all at once.

The hygienist was very gentle and provided a lot of teaching, and so did the dentist - I would give the hygienist and dentist a 5/5. My only gripe and the only reason I took a star away is because they do charge a premium (which they do not tell you about as a new patient) so your visit is not covered 100% even if you have 2 insurance plans. I have never had to pay on top of my insurance plans so it was surprising to have to pay extra just for a cleaning/check-up.

The staff is always extremely friendly and fun to be around. We always have some good laughs. I would highly recommend!

The hygienists here are always 10/10 but I took 2 stars off for the consistent negative experiences I've had with appointment scheduling. 1-2 weeks out from my scheduled appointment the office consistently spams me with texts and calls asking to switch my date/time (I assume to fill in for cancellations). I would understand if this happened occasionally but after a few years I can see that this is just how they run things. Last year I asked them to refrain from reaching out to change my appointments (I carefully book based around my work schedule) but like clockwork, they called, texted, then called AGAIN after I had already politely declined via text.

Very good cleaning and dental inspection. Some backup problems elsewhere caused a some wait time to complete my checkup. However this is unusual.

Very knowledgable staff. Get people, I would recommend them highly. Had a couple issues over the years and always took get care of me.

The staff and especially Dr. Magarius were all very accommodating providing a very great experience at my last visit for a checkup and filling. Dr. Magarius was very kind and very thorough in his explanations of the options I can have before going through every procedure. The front desk reception and admin are also very helpful especially in scheduling appointments that matches mine.

Without any notice, unfortunately our dentist had closed her clinic. I needed to have the last cleaning for the year and the time was short. So I decided to Google the nearest clinic to my home. And. Went by the reviews from real clients and the reviews that McKenzie Towne family dental got were amazing. People love them because fill all the above. People say they are respectful, nice, emphatic, understanding and they customize your visit based on your own unique features and sensitivity. Well based on that. I picked them to be my new dentist and right from the first contact with I can confirm they are amazing. Kindness, respect, professionalism, fun, welcoming, is the general feeling I experienced there from on my first visit. I also love the fact that they give you options and the most important thing they are up front with fees, what is included and is not and possible fees from your pocket do you have the time to make your own decisions. In all I really love them all and I hope to have a pleasant relationship for me my family. Thank you Mckenzie Towne Family Dental.

The staff is very accommodating, i called in the morning because my tooth broke and then she immediately gave me a spot to fix my broken tooth. The dentist and her assisstant is very nice. I would recommend them to my family and friends.

Not satisfied on my visit yesterday not like before its too very fast procedure. It seems like my teeth are not being cleaned and i didnt have a chance to talk to the dentist as it says on the appt its just scaling ️️️. I will come back for sure as my previous procedure are great not like this time.

My experience with the dental clinic was really good. The technician who do my cleaning was good friendly and did a great job. The next day I had a filling done the dentist and assistant were awesome we even had a few laughs. Thank you to everyone.

SCAM! Horrible experience! They charge you for something what hasn’t been done. They charged me additional $69.67 for emergency exam, any exam has been done, especially emergency one! I just lost my filling while I was brushing my teeth, there wasn’t any pain, anything special to do just replace the filling. They said they charge that amount each patient automatically and even when exam took 3 seconds they still charge you almost $70 (that’s exactly what Andrea said on the phone to me). In my case there wasn’t ANY exam! I just sat down, opened my mouth and doctor started to fix my filling. It took 15 min all together. I’ll contact all insurance companies and all right institutions to let them know what they do. Unbelievable! SCAM!

I probably had the best cleaning ever! My hygienist was super knowledgeable gentle but effective, plus she taught me new skills to keep my gums healthy! Also Dr Patel is the best dentist ever no question at all! Would highly recommend!

Dr. Magherius and his team are first class. My family has been going there for years. Professional and honest.

Dr M is by far the best, kindest, and most considerate dentist I’ve ever encountered. I no longer require anti anxiety medication because of the trust I have in both he and all his staff (especially Sondra). The staff up front are amazing also. 5 stars are not enough!

The hygienist is nothing short of amazing.

First I want to start off by explaining how terrified I am of going to the dentist, I have had a couple very traumatizing experiences. I have now seen both Dr. M and Dr. Patel and have has amazing experiences with both. Both Dentists knew how bad my dental anxiety is and took their time and had so much patience with me, they stopped often to see how I was doing and kept things light and funny to keep me comfortable. I have now been in 4 times in the last two weeks to do work that I've desperately needed and am so happy I found this Dentist office, from the Receptionists to the dentle hygienists to the Dentists everyone in thia office is amazing. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Always so reassuring. No freezing needed so the two fillings went very fast. Always felt comfortable with what needed to be done. Very kind and caring.

New patient here and everyone was really friendly and helpful. Definitely bringing in the rest of my family. Highly recommended!

Service and staff at McKenzie Towne Family Dental are awesome! On my first visit, 7 cavities were found which were not discovered by my former dentist. They got me in within 2 weeks and Dr. Patel did a fabulous job filling them, and also found that I had a bad grinding problem. I was fitted for a night guard, which was ready in less than a week. Friendly, professional and courteous staff, plus state of the art practices and equipment. I would definitely refer anyone to here! Thank you!

My dental hygienist, Julin, did a really great job during my last visit for teeth cleaning from taking x-rays, to tracking and making sure my details and info are current, to the actual cleaning. She was accommodating and very friendly — thank you!

Dr. Mona is amazing! I had my cavities filled with her and she was very gentle, empathetic, and informative. She offered me lots of breaks, and constantly checked in with me to see how I was doing. She also gave her dental assistant lots of affirmation during the process, which was beautiful to see. I felt very comfortable.
Debbie at the front desk was also very helpful with figuring out insurance and made the process simple and stress free. She even offered me to call her anytime after my appointment for tips on dealing with the insurance company.

If I could give 100 stars I would! I highly recommend going to McKenzie Towne Family Dental!

I was treated by Dr. Safi recently after needing quite a few fillings. Dr. Safi is very friendly and professional, you wont feel judged for whatever work you need done on your teeth. He is very gentle, understanding and informative. The support staff at McKenzie Towne Family Dental are also just as friendly and cheerful; from the front desk to the hygienists. Lastly, as someone who needed two sedation appointments to fix my oral problems; the sedation staff are amazing. Friendly, supportive and comforting.
I have never been treated better at a dental office and I have never received such good care for my teeth. Their work is impeccable and now I have my smile and my confidence back.
They also made me ENJOY going to the dentist and I am no longer afraid of the "dreaded dental appointment". They have made a patient for life out of me!

Poor booking practices. They seem to have airline like overbooking policies.

Had an appointment for weeks that they canceled again without notice. They did call to confirm my appointment but I work nights. I literally got out of bed for this cancelled appointment. No notification from them of cancelation.
They also cancelled both of my kids appointments 2 weeks ago 15 minutes before appointment, after we had picked up from school.

"AHS policy to protect everyone's safety. " Really? You cancelled my kids appointments, with 15 mins notice and then called me back 20 mins later asking if they could still come. We could not. What possible event related to the pandemic happened that you had to cancel but were able to then rebook 15/20 mins later? Or, are you using the pandemic as an excuse.

You cancelled 3 appointments in less than 2 weeks with no notice. I hope that you change your overbooking policies and using the pandemic as an excuse for your practice. Your patients deserve your honesty.

I have been going to see Dr. Safi for a very long time. He is kind, gentle and has always provided the best results. From my Invisalign, to my veneers and just basic dentistry, I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else.

Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Their level of care for patients is above and beyond expectations

My husband and I went there. I was always scared to go to the dentist. They make you feel so comfortable and take great care of you. They are all so friendly. I would tell anyone to go there and see them for dental work.

Awful experience. They found some cavities and wanted to book me in to fill them. I let them know that my benefits were maxed out and not to book me in until they were renewed. If they had told me at that time that I needed to look into that myself, I would have. But they said nothing like that and booked me in for January. I assumed that meant my benefits were renewed at that time and went in and got the work done.
Then 1.5 months later they called me saying I owed almost $1000 because my benefits didn't renew until 2 weeks after my appointment.
I explained that I made it clear I didn't want the work done until my benefits renewed, and that I was out of work due to covid, and was unable to pay that kind of bill.
They weren't understanding at all and put all the blame on me and said if I didn't pay the bill they'd send it to collections.
This was their mistake for booking me in at the wrong time, yet I had to borrow money from family to pay the entire bill out of pocket. I will never return to this dentist.

Temp staff there were muttering about how unhappy they were under their breath. Doctor pressured and really trying to push additional x-rays. Had to hound them a few times to release my x-rays to a different dental office.

Edit in response to their comment - 100% had a floater last year Nov 19. It's been a week now and 2 voicemails later I still haven't got confirmation of the release of my x-rays. It's like pulling teeth.

Prices are INSANE. $515 for half a cleaning and X rays.yes you read the correctly, they only did half the cleaning for some reason. Couldn’t tell you why they would leave my mouth half cleaned. Will be going elsewhere to have my cleaning finished. These people are literally crooks.

Very expensive, do not follow guideline pricing. Increase positive online reviews but offering gifts and draws for each review. Very nice staff but they make you wait forever for your appointment.

The hygienists are great and the dentists are good - that’s where the 2 stars comes in. I’ve decided to look into other dentists because of the waiting. In 3 years, my appointment has never started on time, I sat waiting for 15 minutes when picking something up because the receptionist “forgot” I was there, and the final straw was when I was phoned at 9: 20am to reschedule my 9: 30 appointment because the dentist hit traffic and I didn’t receive a single apology from the dentist. I’m fairly certain they wouldn’t tolerate that from clients so I’m not sure why it’s acceptable for them.

This is one of the best dental clinic in the calgary region hands down. I travel all the way from core downtown calgary to get my teeth seek after. Mckenzie towne family dental did a very thorough assessment of all my teeth and patch me up very well. I am extremely please with the service and everyone working there. If you are looking anything teeth related trust me, do not hesitate and contact Mckenzie towne family dental! You will thank me later.

Had been a patient of this dental office for over 10 years, really liked it there and Dr M. Was extremely disappointed with how their prices increased so much after covid, by 10-20% over the fee guide and my previous visits. We ended up deciding to switch dentist

I just love this dental office. The ladies in the front remember you, DR M and his assistant are just so thorough and walk through everything they are doing. I don’t like the dentist but I like coming here. You all do your job so great.

1) Over head light leans not cleaned,
2) and in both area's the eye glasses provided to me were not properly cleaned. Your help in this regard would be appreciated.

Everyone at this office is friendly, caring, and takes excellent care of my family. Best dentist we have ever experienced. Despite challenging COVID-19 protocols, they go out of their way to ensure our visit was safe, both for them and for us. We’ve had both dentists at this clinic work in my family’s teeth, would recommend.

I needed a new dental place and came across Mckenzie towne family dental. All of the staff were so friendly and made sure I got taken care of from start to finish. Dr. M was very knowledgeable, welcoming and took the time to answer any questions I may have. I felt very taken care of here and I highly recommend them!

Dr. M is a great dentist but the office staff are brutal. I have walked out after waiting an hour past my scheduled time and have been asked to reshedule after waiting in the waiting room for 20 minutes. This is the most unprofessional office I have ever been to. I had to leave and find a new dentist.

Just moved To McKenzie Towns. I checked out a few in this area and picked a good one. Smiles from all when you walk in. Dr "M" & his assistant were great. Very stress free visit. I had so much fun I'm going back for more. Would recommend to anyone

I had to find a new dentist after 10 years due to a bad experience as my regular wonderful hygienist left and they replaced her with someone not so gentle and not so nice. I was so happy I found this place. Amazing service, worry free and no anxiety moments. Friendly, gentle and well run. Highly recommend!

The “Family” in McKenzie Town Family Dental is could not be more perfect.
I have moved my mother and my mentally handicapped brother 69 yrs old from Moose Jaw to Calgary six months ago and my brother was in need of a dentist so I chose my dentist for him and it has been nothing but the most positive feeling of comfort for my mother and myself to know that he is in the most caring hands.
Today he had to have his teeth cleaned and Teresa was amazing with him everyone at Mackenzie town family dentists has and have been outstanding.
When you have challenges to face in your family it is so nice to know that others take the time to treat what is special to you with the caring and concern and love that you want for your family members.

If you are looking for a new dentist look no further from the second you walk in the door the staff here are fantastic and really go out of their way to help you, I can honestly say they are so accommodating with my schedule and my husbands schedule, I got appointments for myself and my two children all at the same time in the one day as a mom with a busy schedule this really help me out, I honestly can not stress how amazing the staff are here, dr.m. Is truly fantastic at what he does and it shows he really cares about every patient! I have been a patient at McKenzie Towne Family Dental since they first opened their doors. Even with my original dentist, Dr. Brothers, retiring years ago, the incoming dentists were very good and I highly recommend them all. Everyone has been very professional and looked after my needs with the utmost care and attention. My only concern would be the prices for dental services continues to rise faster than I think it should.

Worst dental clinic! They don’t follow the dental fee guide, do the tests that you’re not approved of and they have some give aways and if you win you need to give them good reviews before you claim the prize. I will never go back to that clinic again!

I have such a phobia of the dentist (as a lot of people do), and Mckenzie Towne Family Dental always made me feel so comfortable! From the lovely receptionists who began to know me by name, to my dentists and dental assistant who always made sure I was doing ok, it was an overall 10/10 experience! I have recommended to all of my friends, and will continue to do so. I have never been able to say I love the dentist before, but I can honestly say now that I do! It has been a wonderful experience at McKenzie Towne Family Dental from the dental hygienists to the dentist to the girls at the front desk. I appreciated how the dental hygienist and dentist explained things about my oral health where past visits with other dental offices have not. I appreciate the time they took to explain, let me see what they were doing and always asked how I was. They were thorough, thoughtful and kind. Also I received a free yes FREE electric toothbrush at my first visit there and whitening trays! That in itself is amazing! Overall a gold star experience! Thank you!

My experience at McKenzie Towne Family Dental has been excellent. I only have positive things to say about Dr. Magharius and all the staff (clinic, front desk, and lab). They immediately understood the urgency of my treatment. I had a new nice bridge made to perfection! I can't thank enough to Dr. M ("M" for Miracle!), I thank God for allowing me finding McKenzie Towne dental clinic.

I'm a big baby when I come to the dentist. Everyone here has been wonderful about looking after me and giving me the most gentle, thorough care I've had in a long time. I highly recommend Dr. Magharius and his team, especially if you're a fearful patient!
