Medicare Walk-in Clinic Westhills

This is my go-to clinic. (Most) Children under 12 are seen first. A full lobby here, with every seat filled will take about an hour. Other walk-in’s were booked out for a week to be seen (not exactly a walk-in).

I was seen by Dr. Ishfaq twice. Both times I felt like he had concern for my pain. The second visit (for the same issue) he also wrote a doctors note to the ER for me (perhaps to legitimize the issue? I’m not sure.)

My out of pocket cost was $125; then $75 for the second visit.

Come here first.

I felt so helpless with my last doctor, but when I went to see Dr. Ishfaq he acknowledged my concerns and he worked with me, so we can find solutions for my health issues. He is very empathetic and kind, which you won’t see anymore in many physicians.
Waiting time is long especially on busy days, but the staff do their best to accommodate everyone.

Last night, my son smashed a finger and got a painful black nail. We needed to get the hematoma on his nail drained, and I was worried as we had just gone to another walk-in clinic that blatantly rejected us.
But I'm glad they did as we got to come here and receive excellent patient care, starting by the kind front desk lady and then by Dr. KHALID ISHFAQ. Absolutely fantastic! Dr. Ishfaq was incredible. He used a technique that didn't cause any pain to my son when he inserted the needle into his nail, and throughout the short process, he was so amicable and considerate. 100% recommended.

The doctor & staff are fantastic! They are efficient and ultra sensitive to their patients event when the lineup doesn’t end!

Myself & my Family have been going to this clinic Westhills for years. Dr. Ishfaq is amazing and will go extra mile to figure out what you need. The nursing staff are great and help take care of all your needs.
We have seen all walk in Dr. And thankful to everyone one of them. I recommend this clinic to anyone.

The medical staff is very pleasant and polite. At the rehearsal, everything was explained to me, despite my anxiety about the child's condition. The doctor examined us after 30 minutes.and prescribed the necessary medicines. Communication is excellent despite my bad English!

Dr. Khalid Ishfaq was a good doctor to see. Very knowledgeable and quick. I came in for a foot issue and he was very efficient. Good doctor to see

This place is a joke, Clinic said it was opened until 2: 00 pm, (Sunday) I arrived with 30 minutes to spare (1: 30) and got told no doctors were available although the website said open. Maybe don’t send your staff home 30 minutes before their shift is actually over and don’t have false advertisement on your website. Poor service.

Why don’t accept the out-of-province healthcare card. How about the people who are traveling and want to see doctor at your clinic?

He always there fir us fir me and and fir my big family. I would recommend him to any person dealing with complicated issues he is the savior for you. And the nurses very welcoming and friendly and professionalise these ladies

Dr. Khalid Ishtaq very nice, easy approach, I need orthotics insole prescription and he gave me right away, not like other doctor in Glamorgan clinic.

The worst experience I have ever had with medical care. The wait was long, which is to be expected. The Dr. Care I would give a zero star if I could. I was not treated with respect, I was not listened to at all. This clinic does not care one bit about your well being. They will prescribe any medication to get you out of their clinic as fast as possible instead of actually getting to the root of the problem. The absolute worst care.

This place is pathetic. They say they are open till 7pm. I showed up at 6: 20 pm. Not a single person in the waiting room. I arrive with my 4 year old son who is experiencing severe discomfort and they are turning us away. This is a walk clinic and they are turning away patients at 6: 20 pm yet say they are open till 7: 00 pm. Where is the logic in any of this? Very disappointed in this clinic. Would not recommend this clinic. Very poor patient interface. 1 star rating is very generous.

I shall be calling the AMA personally about this clinic. (And the few five-star reviews are laughable efforts to counter the majority of highly negative submissions, with which l agree.)

I was treated with disrespect and as an oversight. I was made to wait three hours due to receptionist incompetence, until it was too dark to drive safely. Their arrogance, including and especially that of Dr. Ovueni (sp?), and incompetence potentially endangered lives, as l was sent home in spite of reassurances l'd be seen earlier. I was sent to drive home 45 minutes in pitch dark, basically impaired.

And they didn't care.

Good ol Deborah well came in to get a pregnancy test done seeing that a maternity clinic won’t take me until I did this nonetheless this place closes at 8? Walked in a little after 6 she told me she wasn’t taking anymore patients this lady took one look at me instantly and said that also told me to go to shoppers for a test. Oh my gosh this lady! I was hoping she’d be off or wouldn’t work here anymore but no this rude lady STILL WORKS HERE! Lol anyway she had no problem helping the 2 not coloured people behind me just fine. Awesome clinic never going here ever again it’s a waste of time every time.

I saw a doctor there today. The African lady is very knowledgeable, I showed her a medication I used previously and she immediately recognized it and she knows it very well, like different doses for different ages. I don't say they have smile services (I don't need that), but my problem was well solved there.

Waited for this clinic to open Friday morning, as I was sent home with an awful migraine and this was day 4 for me. I saw the doctor and he was great, but he prescribed me meds in 2 minutes and asked me to stop medicine I had been taking for 5 years with no follow up questions. My anxiety was so high with this. He then gave me medicine I couldn't afford and the pharmacy contacted him immediately, this was Friday morning before lunch. I still don't have a replacement and it's been 3 days. This doctor asked me to review his business seeing he gave me a doctors note for work free of charge. But he also gave me no relief for my migraine, as I ended up with no actual help in the end.

Very rude receptionist I didn’t feel welcome it was dirty and muggy looking in there there’s a reason why nobody likes to go to this place. I tried to get a check up for me and my newborn daughter the woman was very rude demanded Alberta health card which is impossible to get when she’s five days old. As a new mother it was hard for me to hold my tongue back which is not what I need when I’m trying to look after me and my baby!
My best advice I could get the doctor that practices here, fire your receptionist she Single-handedly within 20 seconds made my mind up that I was never going to go to this walk-in clinic again!

I’ve tried reaching this clinic 12 times over the past 3 days, and not once has the phone been answered. How could management and reception care so little about patients that rely on actually reaching someone in order to book an appointment.

I had the absolute worst experience I've ever had at a walk in here.
I waited in the waiting room for 5 minutes before they sent me to the tiny room without windows for over 2 hours. An hour and a half in the receptionist asked me for my name (it probably had been so long that she forgot my name completely) then when a doctor finally came to see me it wasn't even my doctor it was a different one who I had to explain my whole thyroid issue and history to, and just ended up doubling my prescription and sent me home. I didn't even get a paper to go get blood work again for when my medication runs out, so I guess I have to go back and get a paper, to get blood work, to then go back and get another piece of paper that increases my prescription again. This clinic has been such a huge waste of time for me and gave me no comfort in helping me with my newly diagnosed thyroid issue, the receptionist also needs to be friendlier and more personable especially while your waiting people in a tiny room for over 2 hours. She didn't even tell me my doctor wasn't in, didn't tell me how long I'd need to wait, no offer for water, nothing. I would have preferred her let me wait in the waiting room or leave and get a coffee. Absolutely horrible way to treat people. I understand there are many cuts to health care right now, and times may be tight, doctors might not make it in and be sick, but that is no excuse to treat me like they did here. To think I did tons of research to choose such a disrespectful place.

Dr. Ishfaq and Dr. M. Ovueni were amazing. Very caring, thoughtful and effective. I have seen them so a number of occasions over several years and they are always excellent, and their diagnosis spot on. They always took time to understand my entire condition not only what I was presenting with at the moment and provided wholistic advise and referrals.

Dr. Khalid Ishfaq was thorough and empathetic with my care. He promptly diagnosed and devised an effective treatment plan. Reception staff was efficient, well organized and compassionate with all families- caring for a very busy waiting room. I witnessed excellence in triage and all patient's being treated with respect and dignity. In this time of recovery from a pandemic, kindness and superb medical care, go a long way to help all of us to return to medical and overall wellness.

Glad I called to confirm if clinic would be taking walk in patients this afternoon. Response: they close today at 2, not open tomorrow.

I have no idea what doctor I had but honestly horrible. Went in for a ankle injury that happened a week ago and still can’t walk (I have gone to the ER the day I did it and they said if it still hurts to get it rechecked) I was trying to tell him what happened and that this is what the original doc had said and he did a 30 second exam of my foot said it’s fine and that I hurt something else but never really said anything other then you can wear a tensor. When we was going around he found the spot that hurt the most and continued to press on it and hold my entire foot by that one sore spot! He also took my foot in his hand didn’t ask me to move it to see my range he used his hand and forced it Up and down I was in extreme pain and he never stopped till he thought he understood…. He then was saying I have excellent movement (I can’t even bend my two toes yet) my foot is still extremely swollen and very very bruised and he told me to wrap it in a tensor and go in with life…. I CAN BARELY WALK! I can’t drive cause the pressure of the pedal is too much and it hurts very bad and he’s telling me to wait longer it will get better he said …. Not only that made me very uncomfortable how the receptionist was just staring and listening to everything from right outside the door they didn’t close the door at all and the doc presented himself terribly… will never be going back to this clinic

UPDATE: seen another doctor that listened to my concerns and I tore 3 ligaments in my ankle! They had dismissed this as a possibility and didn't want to do the ultrasound that showed this damage!

Prompt, short wait times, almost always space for walk ins, compliant and generous doctors, efficient and easy. No hassle. Very little commitment necessary, which I like.

Don’t go there between 12-1 because they’re not open… doesn’t say online so don’t make it there for no reason. I did. Just to get turned away.
Apparently doctor switching is a long process

I have been seeing Dr Khalid at medicare for a few years, he is always so helpful. Dr Khalid really listens to his patient needs.

Dr ishfaq is an amazing doctor he is one of the few doctors in this city that actually cares about you and how you are doing not a lot of doctors care about if your in pain or how your well being is but doctor ishfaq does and he is amazing with my son iv have never had a better doctor in my life and im very happy that Dr ishfaq is my and my familys doctor. I very highly recommend this clinic and anyone looking for a family doctor its the best in calgary!

This clinic used to be really good until recently. You can't get hold of the receptionist. Called 10 times on Thursday with no answer. On the 11th call I got through to be lied that the Dr.will call to only to find out today she didn't put us down for phone consultation and my husband was not getting his prescription filled. We were coming to Calgary from Airdrie but after all this and showing up on Friday to sit for an hour in an empty office we will not be returning and taking our business somewhere else. Dr that was available couldn't see all the meds listed on the file yet she printed it all. Total joke.

Called to ask if they were accepting walk-ins. They said they were taking walk-ins until 4. Got there at 2: 30 and suddenly they weren't taking them anymore and turned us away. Absolutely ridiculous.

This is the worst clinic i ever went.where u could find this kind of clinic, they open at 9am and the receptionist starts accepting all the patients to register ofcourse.
But the WORST part, the patients keep waiting and waiting for the doctor.and finally the doctor arrived at 10am
then you have to wait again for 2-3hrs to be
called. (just for a prescription)
they will send u inside the room to wait forever.where could you find like this, the patient will come first before the doctor
This was my second time bad experience in this clinic. And i will never comeback

Went in for severe ear pain and hearing loss, doc told me I had to clean my ears and assumed I was exaggerating the pain.

1 week later both my eardrums rupture from an inner-ear infection and I've permanently lost hearing in both ears.

They tried to follow-up and I blocked their number because I don't trust them now, and I instead went to Circle Medical to get the treatment I needed.

At least they're all polite lol - and I don't want to attack anyone specific, so just take this as a general warning if you come here.

Excellent clinic. Dr. Bahri was fantastic, he is very competent and has great interpersonal skills. The receptionist working on Dec 19/21 was also fantastic, she was efficient and helpful while managing many patients. I can see why this clinic has so many good reviews. Thank you!

Unknowingly, I had a certain serious disease despite all the clinics I have been, until the day I met Dr Khalid Ishfaq. It was a chance for me to meet him when he detected my serious illness and sent me right to the hospital. Because of him, I escaped death that day. Thank you very much Doctor. And that was not all.
Thereafter, by joining his clinic, he found out in me other serious but dormant medical issues that he treated patiently and efficiently. Since I am in Calgary, I never seen such a Dr, compassionate, loving, cooperative and understandable. I highly recommend Dr Khalid Ishfaq to you, people, who want be treated as you deserve. And you will see how he cares, how he treats and how he works, and you will not be disappointed. Thank you so much Doctor! Never give up!

Dr. Ishfaq Kaliq is very scientific and methodical. I am greatful to have him as a doctor. He is around on Sundays!

The wait time was very quick, also seen a doctor right away, the doctor had a very cheerful, humerous welcoming manner and fixed my cloged ears right away. I would recommend this clinic to anyone who needs to see a doctor.

Apparently answering phone calls is not a thing here. FIND SOMEPLACE ELSE if you care about your health.

I went in for fixing multiple ingrown toenails and Dr. Khalid was an absolute legend in terms of removing them, medically and cosmetically. Dr. Khalid Ishfaq is super assertive in his diagnostics and does the referrals to solve your problems. The clinic is open 7 days a week and in statutory holidays, so if you have an emergency you have them avialable. Thank you Dr. Kalid for all your help.

Dr Ishfaq is a caring and knowledgeable family doctor. He managed my complicated case very well. He listened to me and helped me through the tough course of my recent health issue. After twenty years, I finally found a family doctor that I can trust.

I went to this walk in clinic with an emergency concern and I’m glad I did. Dr. Khalid and the female nurse on duty were both amazing and very concerned with my condition. Even though they were really busy; they took their time to give me proper treatment on site which I think easily took two or more appointments time. I am very thankful to both!

Normally a good walk in clinic, states that it was open today but when I arrived to the location no one was there, and had to drive to another.

Took my girlfriend because it was the only walk in close and open. We were told there was a 2 hour wait time because the Walk In side of this practice is less important. There were only 3 or 4 other people in the building waiting. Kinda sad that a walk in clinic doesnt take walk in very serious.

Wonderful experience with Dr. Khalid Ishfaq during a very trying time. Extremely helpful, personable and available. I had one in-person appointment and was able to ask follow up questions easily via phone call following that appointment. Thanks Dr. Ishfaq!

Dr. Ishfaq has been my family doctor since I moved back to Calgary from university, a number of years now. He's exceptionally kind with a clear intention of solving problems that you may present him with. He always spends a couple moments to catch up before you begin the appointment, complimenting his 5 star bedside manners. I appreciate having him as my GP.

Excellent and friendly folks. I booked my appointment over the phone, went in time, and I only waited for 10 mins before seeing the doctor. He listened carefully - a rarity in today's doctors - and went straight to diagnosing my case. When he finished his work, he explained to me what I had, and what was important to me, is that what he explained to me aligned with my own research that I did on the internet before visiting the clinic. He then wrote a prescription, that I filled from the adjacent Shoppers Drug Mart. Convenient.
Oh, and I am an out of province patient who was here for the long weekend, and this is one of the best experiences I had with the health care system in Canada. Thank you guys.

While the office assistant and doctor I saw were both very nice, they gave me my paperwork for work with another patients information on it. And I just noticed my massage prescription has the same limited time frame as I needed on my work stuff.
Nice but not careful.

The entire clinic is organized around patient's needs! Not only the opening hours are convenient for the people working regular hours (it's open on Sundays!), but also (soon) there'll be a lab on site! So the clinic aims to be ultimately a "one stop shop" for all your basic medical needs. I've only dealt with dr. Ishfaq there. He's extremely knowledgeable, thorough and patient. He invites you to his office showing test results on his computer and answers all questions you may have in a polite and professional manner. Never in a hurry; devotes as much time as needed to all his patients. An increasingly rare experience in our healthcare system.

Apparently don't understand what an appointment means. "There's 4 walkins ahead of you" like OK and that makes sense why? Lol.
