Joel is an absolute legend and delivers next level support.
Over this boxing week this year my partner and I purchased a custom built computer and Joel helped ensure we had exactly what we needed vs.what made the biggest sale which is invaluable. And we were not just a one off; we saw Joel deliver the same level of detail and support to the person in front of us in line. I went into get my pc fixed because my processor wasn’t working. Patten at the service desk was amazing he explained how the process all works and found a way to get me sorted out right away instead of waiting days. I got charged for the repair and was waiting for it to get it fixed, but they came back to me and explained nothing needed fixing only a minor adjustment and they even refunded the cost for the repair! I highly recommend this place and will be referring it to anyone I know.

Great service provided by Chad C.the sales representative that helped me with my purchase of my new PC. And also great service by Luke M.the customer service representative that assisted me with the exchange of some of the components, as I had some issues with some of the parts that I purchased. They were both very knowledgeable and attentive and answered all of my questions. Overall great experience at this store.

I’ve only had great experiences at this Emory express location. The staff are pretty knowledgable overall, and are extremely willing to be helpful. I have never had any issues with purchases, advice, or CPU motherboard installs

The sales staff are great, and the service team is great.

FYI, they will price match Amazon, Newegg, and Canada computers. This means that I have been able to go in person and pick up an item, to save time and money and shipping. And if you ever do run into an issue of course it’s easier to return to a real person business.

Support local, don’t support Bezos

So I needed a new battery for my laptop. I would rather support a local business so I went out of my way to go to Memory Express instead of ordering from Amazon. M. E. Didn’t have what I needed but could get it in for $80 in 3-5 days. I got home ordered battery for $40 and it will be at my front door next day. Double the price? Greed? Do better Memory Express…. There are people willing to support you if they don’t feel they are getting ripped off.

The charging cable for a laptop I purchased from them broke 5 months after purchase and they said they couldn’t do anything about it without sending the laptop in. They said my only option was to purchase a new cable so I purchased a new one. Not even 2 months later the new cable broke and they said all they could do was book the cable in for inspection which would take 8 weeks. They then made me purchase a new cable. The technician said there was nothing they could do. If you want to buy stuff from here be prepared for it to break months after purchase.

I recently built my first PC with parts from Amazon. Some of the parts ended up not working right, and when I had issues with the PSU being old and the motherboard being faulty, the staff at this location were extremely helpful in helping me confirm the issue and sell me a quality product with a good warranty attached to it. Now my PC runs amazingly!

The sales associate Joel was able to sell me a fantastic motherboard when my first one was not working, and also saved me money with a different model that worked just as fast.

The service team was able to test the PSU and motherboard to help me pinpoint the issue on my new PC without any additional fees. They were extremely friendly and I highly recommend this location especially if you're new the the tech scene!

Just a place where you go and lineup for them to tell you to use the website. No browsing, no looking at the display models which are setup, and certainly no point in asking a sales rep for help because they are only there to tell you to use the website.

Very helpful and considerate as i was havin issues deciding what cpu was best for me. They allowed me to return my CPU no problems and then a MOBO aswell as i didnt know the one i bought was incapable of achieving the perfomance/OC i was looking for. However their is one worker that does cash you gotta look put for he has quite a bit of attitude for no good reason. I dont know his name but he uasally is at the left end of the tills. 9/10 would be 10/10 if he wasnt so rude.

They have no graphic cards, the sales person lied and check with other sales person he has graphics in store and their manager does not know anything about computers

I had purchased a gaming computer at a location in Edmonton for my grandson. It recently stopped working so i advised him to take it to a location in Calgary to check it out. He dropped it off at the Dalhousie station location where they are going to repair it under warranty. Great to know you stand behind the products you sell. I will definitely be back, Thanks.

Never had a bad experience at any Memory Express location, but had a great experience here. Half of my special order items showed up, with the other half 2 weeks away they let me pick up the first half, even though their computer system wouldn't let them do it, CharM and Luke worked together to find a way to force the system to let me walk out with my partial order while still having my other item on it's way. I was will to just wait and come back when it was all there, but they made it work. Thank you!

PS if I got your names wrong, sorry I'm bad at that.

Got a new cpu+mobo+ram here and was offered their quick mount service (with bios update) which was free and fast (~20mins). Then I had an issue with the ram, and I was able to quickly exchange it in store and fix it the same day. Really appreciate the convenience of their service vs.dealing with online retailers, and they offer price matching as well.

The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, but the first thing I noticed when I walked up to the service desk is that it is absolutely filthy. The phone, among other things, was covered in what I would imagine to be months of dust. They aren’t allowing customers to browse, which while odd and honestly inconvenient is a COVID precaution, but they really need to up their sanitizing game. To be brutally honest it was gross and I wouldn’t go back. Please buy some Lysol wipes or something.

2021: RMA'D a stripped out of the box power cable in seconds, managed to save my friends job by getting her a graphics card. Both these items on record shortages. I don't know how they do it but they really are the best. The Warranties are an incredible deal! If you need a computer for work there is no other choice. Like a good layer or accountant you cant afford to not have them backing you up.

2020: I will never forget how professionally they behaved during the covid-19 pandemic.four years later I'm still constantly impressed with how well this company is run. I'm a Customer for life.

Like everyone else working from home, when your computer sends out the warning signs of nearing the end - I could not risk waiting for a full failure to replace it.
The Sale Rep asked great questions. I explained how I use technology and he show me options. He was clear and used plain language on how each unit would suit my needs for today and well into the future.

Also, I needed a new mic for our podcast, The Recruitment Flex (check it out!) so I bought the Rode NT-USB. It was more expensive than buying it on Amazon - but so glad I bought from Memory Express. Have you ever tried to return something to Amazon?
After hours of trying to get it to work, I took it back to the store. They tested it and yes, it was defective. They replaced it and I was on my way with no fuss in under 15 minutes!

If there was a 5-star Plus category - I would give it to them.

BTW - I had been to other retailers as well, who should just close up shop, they cant compete.

Purchased from here before but I've never reviewed. How rude. Memex has always been good to me as a customer. I'd be happy to recommend them to anyone I know or don't know for that matter. Recently bought a new CPU and mobo and they offered to test it out for free. How could anyone hate that? 5/5

This has been my favorite place to buy computer parts/accessories and service my computers for years. Knowledgeable and patient staff, great prices on parts and labour keep me coming back. They match lower advertised price so it makes sense to go there and pick up the item right away. Plus, keep the money in the local economy.

Old Review: I love this store. Great price match policy.

New review: Don't bother with the IPR warranty. The likelyhood to use it is low, and if you are a few days outside of the period, they won't even do a free diagnosis for you.

I purchase a LOT in the past from Memory Express; however I've really just had enough. The service team doesn't recognize this, however, and wouldn't help me out with my laptop, which was over $2400 including IPR.

Also had an issue with them not helping me with a problem with a part I purchased from them that was still in warranty. I had to deal with the manufacturer myself, and in the end, ended up buying a different product.

I understand COVID is hard on business, but in all honesty, I don't see ME really hurting in sales from the situation. It's more of a lack of staff, and a loss of the core values that made this company a good one to work with for technology sales and service.

Jerry and the team at this location are awesome. Even during the Covid crisis and the lack of the 3000 GPU series (no fault of memory express) theses guys went out of their way to help us build up our home offices and handled everything like a pro. 100% recommend them. Jerry over there definitely deserves a raise, he always has time to answer my personal emailed questions to him and he goes out of his way to assist. The guys even helped install my latest GPU and fit me into their busy schedule thx fellas!

Edit: Originally had a bad experience.

Spoke with Marcus, the General Manager, who assured me that there will be a follow-up with the employee that provided me with unacceptable customer service. Marcus was very pleasant to speak with, remained professional, was understanding of the situation, and was able to remedy the issue. I value the high level of customer service that Memory Express provides and this is the reason I will continue doing business with them.

Bought an external hard drive that did not work and took it back to the store for a refund and was denied due to physical damage. The installation process is simple, it either works or it doesn't but they insisted that I somehow broke the port and claimed even the manufacturer would deny my warranty. They even opened a new one to show me how it works like I don't know how to connect a simple cord to the external HDD. The return policy is non-sensical and will deny your return 100% of the time if you bring back anything that is damaged out of the box and say it was your fault.

Massive demand for new parts and constant changes in covid rules have definitely put a lot of strain on all the staff of MemX. Yet still, if you show up in person, the sales team will go out of their way to help you as much as they possibly can. My rep dug through the whole store to find me a very saight-after part.

Came in this store to purchase parts for a computer - the sales technician that we ended up speaking to actually cared about what our project was and gave not only recommendations, but was insightful. Great experience, even for youth. Thanks Joel!

Ordered a graphics card for ISP that showed as being in stock at this location. Called the second day to check on when I could get it, I was on hold for nearly 1/2 hour only to be told the card was likely an RMA and that I would have to wait for a new order to come in from the supplier. I ended up getting a similar, more expensive card from the NE store. The other issue is that I’ve sent two emails both to the store and to the main contact on the website, neither of which saw any kind of response. Pretty hit and miss and ME these days.

This memory express cancelled my back order on some rgb fans without informing me. They did got lots of stock recently and just sold em with no quantity limit to customers. Ive waited 4 months for them to just cancel and wouldnt honor their backorder policy.

On November 25th, 2020 WD Red Pro 14 TB drive (SKU MX00113457 PART # WD141KFGX) was listed on the website under Black Friday Week promotion for $409.99 Limit 2 until end of day November 26.2020. On Nov 26,2020 a friend took advantage of this sale offer and purchased two items at that price (receipt can be shown). While we was there, he confirmed with the sales associate that the price was valid until end of day and not limited stock but still limit of 2 per person. The sales associate confirmed that the price was valid until the end of the day in store and not limited stock and would GUARANTEE that price until the end of the day. My other friend also there offered to buy the product if need be and was told not to worry about it and that the price was guaranteed. I came prior to closing that day and went to purchase the items but I was denied. I was told to wait for an email from the store. The next day, I talked to General Manager Marcus. Unfortunately, I was treated with complete disrespect. He told me that he did not care about my business after telling him I wanted to support local small businesses during COVID and that is why I waited to purchase it in store. Marcus refused to take my complaint seriously and completely rejected any other solutions. He told me that head office, ownership and etc.did not care about my complaint or future business and he was unwilling to take a profit loss on the item. He refused to give me any other recourse literally saying "the buck stops with me! ". My opinion is that two mistakes were made, one with the company website and one with the employee. Marcus refused to compensate for the mistake however he did acknowledge both mistakes. Near the end of the conversation with Marcus, I mentioned that I did a lot of business with the company. He gave me the impression that if I was a big customer he would do something. I only gave my personal number and not business number which I use. After reviewing it, he flat out said I did qualify and that he did not want to deal with me. It was more about his facial expression. Please note, I am a computer tech myself and buy everything through Memory Express for my friends family and more importantly my customers. I am not gloating but unless they are willing to own up to the mistake the will lose out on over 10K/year of business. I would love to talk to senior management about my conversation with Marcus. I feel there can be a lot learnt from my experience. Words can not express how i feel after being ridiculed and completely disregarded by the manager.

Disappointed by the store's price match, where they find everything possible to avoid delivering, such as waiting until the competitor's sale is over or finding a different ad to refute your claim. Why bother trying to support actual shops?

I have had lots of good interactions with the people in the store though. Prices aren't nearly the best but it's understandable.

Very poor customer service. One of the employee at the sales desk came off as very rude. Store layout is confusing, and no staff is inclined to help you when you walk thru the store.

Paid 2k for a modern gaming PC to be built and pre-tested. Asked many times if the processor would be too hot and if I should get better fans/cooling. They said no. I bought extra fans to be safe and it's still bouncing between 65-70 degrees whenever I so much as click the Internet or Start Menu. Feels rather unfair that fixing this becomes my burden. Won't be paying 100+ dollars for someone to build/test my PC from here again.

The service they provide is absolutely stellar! I was able to build a new computer with the help of Tyler Merriman were he provided an amazing service. He was able to provide me with options to stay within my budget and even was able to show performance graphs for certain parts to show the difference, or lack thereof, between deafferent parts. As I am not the most technologically comprehensive when it comes to these things, Mr. Merriman was also able to break down the technical terms into more layman's terms so that I can better understand what I was purchasing. With his help, I feel that not only did I get the most bang for my buck but understood what I was purchasing as opposed to the common "well they told me it was good" you get from other places. 10/10 would get parts from again!

Good service, Dell XPS 15 9530 won't turn on and they figured out the issue.
HOWEVER, when I opened my laptop to replace my battery, found out one of the two 8gb RAMs I had installed was swapped with a generic one.

What an incredible experience i had the other week. After a couple of mediocre visits to memory express, i found someone willing to engage with my questions about my new build.without taking too much time, Joel walked me through the differences in various technologies including how ram speed is calculated, the difference between monitors and much more.   He simplified everything to make it understandable to me and was joyful in answering the 10+ questions i had.

For someone building their first computer this is definately the guy you should talk to. Felt like i had a quick seminar that came along with my purchase!

Thanks again Joel and great job memory express team this black friday!
