What a patronizing reply. Of course Sundays and holidays are for your staff to rest because you're not customer-oriented. And it's "thousands of other customers, " by the way.

I found your meat products at The Italian Center in Calgary, and my family won't get any other meat now! Your meats are incredible. Artisan quality like we've never had before. We have tried so many different cuts and they have all impressed my family. Really happy to be your customer! The taste is phenomenal. Everything cooks up so beautifully too. You folks make our dinners taste great!

$40 for a sandwich and 2 dishes I think were bought at M&M meats and were still partially frozen was not worth the detour. I love to support local but unfortunately would never go back for lunch.

After consideration I will Edit my review and increase it to 2 stars at the REQUEST of the owner and will elaborate more, since the owner pointed out some things.
2 stars are deserved for the sandwich, as they make the meat for the Euro cold cut it did taste good.
Keep in mind for the dishes the owner said they are stored in a cooler.
They opened at 9am and I arrived at 10: 30, if these were in a cooler and made fresh I am surprised cause it resembled something that came from a M&M freezer. My veggies were partially frozen and had to scrape off some ice from them, the bacon mac and cheese had still frozen strands of shredded cheese on them with overcook noodles on the out side.
I feel making a comparison to the frozen meals at M&M is a fair comparison as it is hard to judge the microwaving time as did the server today. They would of known of the issue if any quality check was done during the meal but there wasn't.

The prices for all lunch meals were NOT posted. Maybe it was because I was there early, but I understand its hard to find staff to run a business these days.

Hope this suffices you as the owner as I may have been blunt but I was honest for what someone should expect todays experience.

Went for lunch and the food was delicious, very reasonably priced, and friendly & helpful staff. Appreciate their local meat and market items. I'll be back to try more.

If you want quality cut meats, this is the place to go.

We picked up the lunch soup and sandwich combo to go. We selected some fresh pork schnitzel and bison smokies while our sandwiches were being made! The Chicken Fajita soup was amazing! The sandwiches were packed full and so flavourful We already know the fresh meats will be delicious as always!

Best place if you want to have take out meals 10.00 each food is awesome and staff very friendly.

When they run out, they run out. Hit and miss for having something I like, it's always different food. Service is good.

I have been to Messinger for lunch and it is delish! Especially the Schnitzel on Mondays. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is delightful. One thing I know over the years is they are very involved in the community and have great big hearts! Thank you for your hospitality, generosity and great homemade cooking!

This place is the best! Such delicious high quality meals.and very community minded to. If you haven't been, make it a point to go ASAP. Such a local gem.

Made a special order which I was told was no problem. There was a mix up with my order and it wasn't in on the original day of pickup. Was then told they could bring it in the next day no problem.

Came back the next day and my order was once again forgotten. This derailed a long planned meal for us and was a major letdown.

They do have great product but seem to have organization issues around bringing in special orders.

The service was great, the food was amazing! So many choices, each one equally delicious as the next, it was nearly impossible to decide! We all had a little something different and came away with food to spare as the portions were huge! There is no question on the quality of meat, range fed and cooked to perfection.
We most definitely will be returning here again.outstanding!

Fantastic local restaurant and market. We came for lunch but left with full bellies and a few things to take home. First the food is great tasting and amazing value. The store part has some great local grocery and again, pricing is good.

Great place been going there for my beef since it opened always top shelf meat at a great price. Started going there for lunch and have not been disappointed yet. Fast and a good price best lunch and breakfast place in red deer

Haven't gone for food there yet but we'll have to check it out food smells and looks amazing home cooking

Messinger meats is a must stop Everytime I stop in town. Portions are large. As a family owned and operated business I am always happy to pay for the quality that I recieve. Service is way above average. Always greeted with a smile! Thank You!

This place brought my wife to tears as it reminded her of her German roots. The food is awesome and piled high. I personally did not cry. But made several yummy noises.:)

Sorry but your Piedmontese beef is nothing like the Italians one, it can not be as your cows drink Canadian water, breath Canadian air and feed on Canadian food, I was very disappointed in the flavour, not even close to the Italian one.

Exceptional food to eat in our take out and their selection of meats are perfect. Let alone sl of the extra fine quality products.

This shop is amazing. I walked over thinking I'd go in and see the typical small butchers case and maybe a bored employee staring at thier phone, putting it down as I came in, greeting me hello.
No way. I walked the front door and was immediately suprised at how large it is in there. I walked around checking everything out. Prices are good, products look great! And the staff is very friendly and efficient. I ordered a coffee and a breakfast plate. The plate took a bit, this isn't your Denny's restaurant, but wow when it came out! My eggs were cooked perfectly, which will always win me over. The plate is large, I couldn't finish it, but only just. Great price on it as well. This place is lovely! Check it out!

Very nice and spacious. Good service, helpful staff.god choice of eastern European packaged goods. You have a nice bite to eat here too.

The bistro at lunch time is super delicious. Good value for the money, the portions are generous. My spouse and I added a soup to our meal and there was more than enough to split between us. Good looking desserts too. Lots of seating. The extra parking in the back is appreciated. Best of all, you can pick something tasty up for dinner while you are here for lunch!

First visit to the store its a nice clean place that serves good food with good helpings

The ALL the food hot or cold is the best! The overall environment and people are so welcoming! If you have not had their breakfast or lunch you need to try it!

We have been buying our meat from them for over 7 years. I cant find find any beef comparable. Today we had the breakfast. We had the butchers block which included sausage, bacon, smoked pork, potatoes, beans, eggs, some fruit and a croissant. Will definately be returning. Be sure to come with an empty stomach because the portion is huge.

What a gem!

I assumed that Messinger Meats was your average butcher with grocery products. I had no idea that they offer some of the best prepared meals in the city!

When you walk in the store, you first see a grocery section and checkout counter. Head further back, though, and you'll find restaurant seating a second counter where you can order meals to eat in or take out to go. The meals are all homestyle cooking with selections of warm sides. On this first visit, shared among four people, we had:

- Schnitzel burger with roasted potatoes
- Beef brisket with scalloped potatoes
- Pork hock with braised cabbage

The meats were all incredible. The pork hock was rich having been cooked on the bone with the fatty skin, the brisket was fall apart tender and the schnitzel was well seasoned with complementary toppings. Even the sides were delicious and rich, particularly the scalloped potatoes.

At $13 to $15 per meal, these were an excellent value as the portions are all huge. Service was very friendly as well. My only word of warning is that they can get busy and (as can happen in restaurants with good homemade cooking) and items can run out. But, their order-at-the-counter setup makes for the speediest service possible.

I can't wait to return and try more dishes!

The breakfast is massive, I'd suggest splitting it two ways or expect leftovers. Top quality meats, delicious.

Had an amazing breaded pork chop with mushroom gravy. Doesn't sound like the best meal, but it was so well done I wanted another. I wouldn't be able to though, because the portion was so big I was very full.
