Awesome place for classic cinema; probably the last left in the city. Loved watching horror movies (Evil Dead 2, Texas Chainsaw, etc) here. Had a supernatural experience in the bathroom. Took a piss and the lights turned off and the tap started running. Didn't realize the place was haunted until like 2 months later. Awesome place but minus 1 star because I'm still nervous to take a piss there

I love coming here for the Saturday morning cartoons and all you can eat cereal. Many different types of cereal and milk. They even have the concession open for popcorn. Great retro theatre but very well maintained and taken care of.

Solid place to see old school movies but please for the love of god if you're going to do those long boring droned opening speeches on stage before a movie, do it 20 minutes BEFORE the movies start time. Don't have a movies start time as 830pm then it starts late at 855pm after a speech and previews, start the speech at 815.

There really are few places like it left. Since the Princess Theatre closed, it truly is the last venue in our little area to see movies new, old, cult, foreign and the whatever else. They do themes, interactive viewings and have a terrific staff of volunteers that are always super friendly. And as a Uni student, I really can't beat their prices. Please continue to support this place.

There isn't anything I can say that most Edmontonians don't already know.

Metro/Garneau cinema is a gorgeous classic cinema. It's a place which drips timeless nostalgia, it has character, comfort, it's decor is vintage and the theatre is well maintained and very well kept.

Staff are very kind and clearly enjoy being a part of the Metro.

It's the theatre experience from my childhood, and it is marvelous.

They have a constantly changing lineup, and offer email updates on upcoming features and festivals.

They run an extraordinary wide range of genres, classics, and modern alike, and host film festivals. They even feature a 'Saturday Morning Cartoon' themed pyjama party, featuring classics as well as cereal!

If you've never been, I would certainly recommend you do.

10/10

An old cinema, but so cozy. Small hall, good sound. Popcorn and drinks upon entry, affordable prices. Friendly staff.

Old theatre, went in summer no A. C, fans didn't work well, seats were in dilapidated condition.

It was very odd atmosphere. As their air conditioning was not working as well fans were not working too.

Wow, it took me back to my teenage days.
Good movies and service of snacks and sweets.

Best movie-going experience in the city, hands down. Love the variety of programming here!

Had a blast watching New Moon, hope to see the other movies there too, one of the bathrooms soap dispenser was broken and it created a couple issues but i imagine it would be an easy fix

Such an awesome first-time experience! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The theater was clean as well as the overall building.

I love this theatre! The prices are fair and they play a range of new and older titles, it’s a great experience to be able to see some of your old favourites on the big screen again. The theatre has a very authentic feel that brings you back to seeing movies for the first time as a young child (they win on the nostalgia factor alone).

Love this old Majestic theatre. Really pretty with lots of old architectural history. Makes our new theaters look like plain Jane. A romantic era when movie going was an event.

The refurbished Garneau Theatre is one of the few active heritage culture buildings left in Edmonton. Best popcorn, truly relaxed seating and a comfortable ambiance. Best venue to watch Rocky Horror, Breakfast at Tiffany's or Cannes winners.

We went for the Saturday cartoons and cereal day.
All you can eat cereal plus three hours of late 20th century cartoons, what's not to love. It's a great blast from the past, our kids get to appreciate the limited 2D animation we had to endure through the 70s 80s and 90s.

Great place to watch cult classics and new cinema. Has an oldschool vibe that immerses you in the movie experience.

Best indie theatre in YEG, lots of character, great supporter of local arts (props to commissioning local artists for movie poster takes) and some deep-cuts you won't see anywhere else on the silver screen!

bring noise-attenuating earplugs if you have tinnitus like me. It gets LOUD in the theate with bodies fully filling seats.

Amazing gem in Edmonton. I went there the other night to watch Nausicaa of the valley of the wind and it was lovely to experience it in an old school theatre. The price is decent and the popcorn is really good highly recommend this for a movie night

Such a blast from the past every time we visit the theater! I really appreciate the opportunity to view independent / smaller films as well as older movies here.
