Midway

Awesome music venue. They consistently have great musical acts, and I love coming here for concerts! Plus I've been here for other fun events like wrestling lol. I highly recommend checking out Midway!

My sister and I went to the Midway for a concert this past weekend and I have to say the staff were awesome! We met the manager Zack and he was so kind and helpful with a small issue we had to deal with (not related to the establishment) and also a shout out to our bartender Jacob who went above and beyond as a server! Will definitely be back.:)

Went to see Skinny Puppy which was a great show.
The event venue team made the night worry-free.

My sister and I ran into a problem while at the venue this past weekend. Zack was incredibly helpful and very considerate with his time and effort, making our evening turn out to be a great experience! Props to Jacob the bartender too, great service!

Security/ front entrance staff was so rude and aggresive behaviour.
Not felt like a safe place to go for a concert due to unproffesional staffs.
Drinks was way too over priced.

Ridiculous prices, went to see Silverstein and they charge close to rogers place prices. $10 for a beer, $18 for a double? Then the staff expect a tip on top of that for slow and disorganized service. All the staff seemed irritated to just even serve me. Also avoid the washrooms, this place is filthy.

Nice to have a dance club in Edmonton that has a well designed building for a change. Plenty of space and enough bartenders to serve people efficiently.

The bar isn’t even open for the public only open for private events. They should probably put that on their website and 3 people showed up to the club to party.

Fantastic venue to see great concerts. The security were professional. The sound was amazing. I felt like I was 18 again!

Love this venue! One of my favorites in Edmonton! The staff is great and security definitely knows how to handle the rough crowds! I drive 4 hours just to come see shows at this venue

Waited in line in -35 for like 30 minutes was freezing, thankfully I was prepared but they truly need to figure it out. Not going again after that my choice you decide if you want to, and like they wrap around but it never goes inside til the very end

No bad sight lines. A few tables, get there early if you want a seat. Their website offers all kinds of food, but All they had was 8 hour old pizza. 54-40 were fantastic though!

Overall the music, food, games and dance floor are a vibe but security were overly aggressive & reactive more than needed or focused more towards girls. I got invited out for an event and I watched my friend get assaulted by security over a miss understanding that they could of actually helped or listened & understood. I’ve had more people then I can count fingers on my hands express to me to be careful because security here will try and beat you up if they get the chance. Not good for business. Especially based on past experiences & what I was told of the Ranch it definitely lived up to the reputation. Security is there to help you feel safe & supposed to be up to the standards you’d assume. Definitely won’t go back until I hear it’s better. Honestly Greta and Beercade is similar feel with music and crowd. Maybe a little smaller but I’ve always felt safe and like a customer, those spots have a good culture to last a long time. Hopefully one day we can say the same of midway. Remember you are building a culture experience for the city.

I went to the glow party, it wasn't very busy. The venue is spacious though and cover was a reasonable price. They have some carnival games but I didn't play any. I think that they are trying to be too much like other bars by having the games. But otherwise it's a great venue for large shows

Great venue, however the customer service is not great. Waited in line for a beverage, but the bartender needed to go make out with her boyfriend and pointed me away and we had to go wait in line for the other bartender. Never said hello or anything just pointed and walked away.

The bomb for live music. Starlight is still the OG but Midway is an absolute blast to hear all live music. Rural Alberta Advantage followed by Airbourne last weekend, epic

Good place for concerts. Love the fact that water and pop is free, and a spot to buy some food while enjoying the music.

View is good too as there is a sunken area at the middle close to the stage, so your view isnt blocked if you are at the back.

Last Saturday was my first time at this venue to see DFA1979, and it was a letdown. Vibe is that of a cheesy club, didnt mesh with the band at all. Acoustics were trash, sound was a muddy reverberated/echoey mess all night. Main act had to start playing crazy early and finished much earlier than a normal concert. Overall a total bummer of a venue for one of my favourite bands, who usually play the Starlite Room which makes for a MUCH better show and concert experience all-around. I hope more smaller to mid sized acts don't start playing Midway vs orher local options as I won't pay to see another comcert there, no matter who it is. Bartenders and staff were friendly, so I'll give 2 stars instead of 1.

Was great event there i was champrone n I found parking at last moment thankfully was good turn out.was our first time to concert there the line up moved pretty fast like all the security as I was with teen girls so made me feel better had find place to sit which is limited but I did find spot to chill from distance but still keep eye on my teens. I'd champrone again was real.good safe night

Perfect facility for a club/bar. Biggest downfall is the most crucial part. The DJ. Plays the most unbearable music. Perfect example is at the lil pump show. Buddy pre games Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and the BACKYARDAGAINS. When there is a club filled with people that are there for a RAPPER. Besides that on an average day its the same music every time with an average of 3.5 rap songs. You would swear its a playlist playing and not a DJ because its the same thing every night that you can legitimately predict what song is up next.

Just the worst venue for shows. Was really hot, bathroom line ups, hard to leave after the show. Too much going on in background.

Went there Friday night & the security in the boys bathroom beside the bar was extremely rude and disrespectful, he wouldn’t serve me and threatened to kick me out because I told him I don’t have cash for a tip, sounds dumb right? This ain’t the first time I’ve dealt with these guys rude behaviour, last time I got kicked out for being “two drunk” when I was only 2 beers in, feels racist to me, and it’s always the black security guards. I use to like coming to this place but staff is horrible, take your money else where this place is a joke.

The bartender was awesome. I like the Shirley temple drink he made. The venue is also designed well. Watched lacuna coil and apocalyptica. Hopefully The Birthday Massacre will consider this venue as part of a Canadian tour.

Really creepy guys there and almost got roofied… gladly the bar tender TOLD ME the guy put something in my drink. Lesson to everyone: don’t receive drinks from strangers

Overpriced alcohol. Too much pushing. Royal blood was awesome though. Avoid the main mosh area, I saw a small girl get trampled.

Drink prices are VERY inconsistent. I’ve been here several times.

The last time I went, I ordered a drink and it came up to $7.48 + a 15% tip. Alright.
I got the same drink a little bit later in the night and the total with the same exact tip, is apparently now $7.19…
Also, the first time I went to Midway (not anytime recently) I was overcharged big time for a single drink.
At the end of the night I was charged $28 for 1 small drink. Tsk tsk.
BE CAREFUL or they WILL try to rip you off!

If the staff didn’t pick and choose prices the rating I’d give this place would maybe be a 3/5, because it can be a pretty fun place to dance at, when the DJ isn’t remixing every single song. They seem to usually play basic pop music with the occasional rap/hip-hop song, but the last time I went I couldn’t even dance because every single song that played was a poor remix of the original. I don’t mind remixes, but only when it’s done right.
I won’t be coming back here again, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to others.

Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely Pizza Restaurant. The service is unmatched. Last Night I ordered food for 30 people. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Absolutely the best meal we had. Highly recommend!

Very nice staff and a good ambiance, but poor drink choices. No decent beer, no cider and when I finally asked for a gin tonic I was informed that they don't have tonic water.

Was there for a concert, but it was very efficient, quick to get in, clean, staff was friendly.

Amazing venue, friendly staff. Saw tigercub, eyehategod, and clutch last night and it was a BLAST.

Best club I've ever been too, such a good vibe being there and I wasn't even drinking. This place is awesome, although the bathrooms are neglected and my boots stuck to the ground. That was on a Saturday night around midnight though.

I've been here multiple times, pre & post covid. Drink prices are inconsistent. The music is the exact same every time I've gone, basic overplayed radio pop music and if there are remixes, they're very poorly done. I go to clubs to dance, usually I can dance but the music at Midway is so boring that I can't even force myself to dance there.

5 months ago Sarah Carmelo posted a review that got a response from the owner. The owner stated "pricing is always consistent", that's a lie.would you want to support a business that lies to their customers? I know I don't.

The owner also states "we would have hoped you would have brought it up to management that evening", I personally go out to have fun and dance, not to spend $60 on an uber to sit and talk to the management while losing my buzz. That's not why people go to Midway, so I think that's unreasonable of them to expect that from drunk people.

I've experienced fluctuating drink prices every time I've gone, my friend has, and other people in the reviews here have. Sarah's review is extremely accurate to how Midway operates and if you're looking for a good quality & genuine review, read Sarah Carmelo's review.

I wont be dancing at Midway again and I don't recommend this club to others.

I went for a concert. It was just the right size. The food was good for a quickie meal. Try the buffalo chicken poutine.

Let's be honest it's a bar. It's dirty. So my rating is based on how good of a time I had. Went to Clutch and it was amazing!

Nice club. BlackBerry Smoke was good of course. The acoustics could be better but the room is the room I guess. Staff were friendly and helpful. The crowd was well behaved and had a wide range of ages, so, cool.

Worst experience ever, the security guards dont know how to speak or respect. Dont even deserve one star.

Although not my favorite setup, this is a decent venue for a show. Went there for the first time to see Badbadnotgood. They put on an awesome show. The sound was decent, but the chatter near the bar area can get loud. The drummer requested that the crowd quiet down for a couple of the songs to no avail. I think it was a combination of people being rude and the echo-y acoustics of the venue. All in all, I would definitely return for another show, despite a couple of minor annoyances.

Fun but crowded. Definitely for a younger crowd. Only a couple arcade games that are always. Definitely not the place to go for a quiet night. No beer on tap and drinks are unreasonably expensive. If u are looking to blow 150 on 6 drinks this is your place. Finally, they don’t have a phone number to call that actually contacts a person. That being said u can’t ask the most basic of question unless emailing them and going through lengthy processes.
