Kids like it. I like the beef teriyaki. Its a 9oz ribeye. Nice atmosphere and very good staff

Ordered via Door Dash. Small portions with a big price. Food was fresh and tasted fine but $15 for beef tataki which only has like 10 one inch pieces of paper thin beef is ridiculous. Also, the person at the restaurant taking the orders from Door Dash did not send my order to the kitchen so when my driver came to pick up the order, it was not even started. I had to call in to get it re-ordered. Order was an hour late. No apologies, no compensation. There are far better places to eat Japanese food. Try Kobe in the west end. It is far superior.

Authentic Japanese food for the most part with some fusion flair, for what it's worth I think it's slightly over prized, grilled cod for about 150g cost 36 dollars without soups or rice. Overall the food is good and for Edmonton standard, will return. Recommend the yakiniku and the sesame sauce that comes with it.

Waiting time was too long we waited 45 mins just to have a table the bento beef is to hard to chew the price is too high

First time to the restaurant and I enjoyed my lunch meals with friends. Mikado Team, the Ambience, and the quality of food was Great. Will be back to sample the other delectable food.

This place has become my Go-To & is my bfs favourite. Service is quick & friendly. Got seated fast, too! We always order the BBQ salmon (sadly it was served burnt this time). But the other orders were delicious.

Such an elegant Japanese restaurant. The staff are friendly and food is amazing. Very clean and not that long of a wait for the food. Will come back again for sure.

Great tasting Japanese cuisine, Nice clean restaurant, attentive service, ample parking.comfortable seating. I wish they would play Japanese music on the surround sound, it would give a more authentic experience. Overall a must try!

One of my all time favorites for Japanese food. They just have a higher quality and fresher food consistently. Would always recommend. They are on the pricier end though.

One of my favourite places to go for sushi. Friendly staff and cozy atmosphere. Everything that I’ve ordered from here has come out flawless. Definitely recommend trying this place out.

This was my first time trying Mikado. The food is good and their bentos come with enough food for one person. The price is reasonable and food quality is good.

If you're looking for a nice place and reasonably priced Japanese restaurant this can easily fit your needs.

The Miso soup is to die for! Everything was tasty and seemed high quality. The esthetic was absolutely awesome! And they gave me ice cream for my birthday!

Worst Mikado in the city. Arrive there 40 mins before they close and the hostess turned us away saying they already closed the kitchen. When they originally close at 9pm.very disappointed with this type of service will not recommend this location at all!

I usually get sushi from here and always top class but today they were extremely busy with dine in and skip.so I think my $100 order was sacrificed by poor food quality. Hence we need more proper sushi restaurants in Edmonton. They use real crab and I love that but this time eating sushi with real crab was like eating a soggy sock! Very tasteless. I really hope they can maintain the quality since service is brilliant.

Mikado used to have really great sushi, but I was really disappointed this time. California rolls were really dry, dynamite rolls were bland and tasteless, and the spicy tuna rolls I ordered were slimy inside.

I have always been a fan of the place since 2006 but recently noticed sashimi portions are getting smaller (spicy tuna canapé, tuna tataki, salmon and tuna sashimi) and quality has declined why pay too much at mikado when u can get the same thing at the all u can eat sushi places for less money and same quality.
I know that everything has gone up but smaller portions are not the answer especially when the prices are not cheap.

Really enjoyed our meals! We had friends come in from out of town and we took them here for dinner. Service was great as well! Thank you Mikado for being one of the best sushi places in town, regardless of the location!

Side note, we always ordered the green tea! Genuine Japanese green tea! You get a pot to share with whoever is at your table and you get charged a per/person rate but it's unlimited refills! Worth!

Rolls were sloppy and falling apart, ordered tempura rolls and dynamite rolls and they were identical except for the brown avacado slapped on top of one, neither good with what seemed like old rice. The grilled squid seemed re-heated. The Bento box beef was entirely flavorless. Evey tea was just barely warm. Used to love it here but it has clearly gone way, way downhill.

Great food and service. Sashimi is nicely prepared and fresh. The beef tataki is the best and the tempura is light and crispy. The minus is the skating rink in the parking lot and little effort to salt and sand. Best Japanese in Edmonton but not worth a broken hip or ankle!

First of all, I would like everyone to know I am a super Japanese food fan, so my review below is fair and with no prejudice at all.
Today my wife went to order a Lobster Rolls and a Hamachi Collar to take home. As placing the order, my wife repeatedly requested “please do not overcook the Hamachi Collar, we do not like dry food “.
As taking home and opening the boxes, the Hamachi Collar was so dry like dog food, and the lobster in the rolls was dry too.
In the culinary industry, cooks and chefs who overcooked food would be called “second butchers”, that is to laugh those cooks and chefs to kill the meat again in the kitchens.
IF I COULD, I WOULD GIVE ZERO STAR. I AND MY FAMILY WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN

I have been here quite a few times, but the last experinece we had was phenomenal! We were late booking in ans they were still able to accommodate us a private room for my partner and I, his brother, wife, and infant son. We were celebrating a birthday and they allowed us to store the cake in their fridge u til after dinner and even lit the candles and carried it out! Exceeded our expectations. We were a little late getting out and everyone was totally understanding and more than accommodating. And of course, the food was amazing! We had such a wonderful experience here.

Hi. It is my first time at a Mikado restaurant. Moved here from Nova Scotia and went for dinner here. My boyfriend loooove sushi and we thought we were having a great night. The food was great! The problem we had was with our server. I think she was middle aged, didn't get her name because I don't think she had on her name badge. She was good at the beginning but she only came by to bring us our dishes and only once to check up on us. That was it! Once! We wanted to order dessert but passed on that because she didn't come even long after we finished our meal. We just sat there waiting pretty frustrated until he had to call another server and asked the other server for our bill and a box to take leftovers. Unfortunately, we left a small tip, which wouldn't have happened if she served us right. We will never go back to this location. We will definitely try the other two locations. Very dissapointed! I have worked as a server and as a manager at different Japanese restaurants since I was 16 but this is unacceptable!

I've never seen a restaurant include mushroom an on tempura mix! Very well done.

The sauce that comes with the beef yakiniku is sooo good I wish I could take more home.

We always stop in here when we go through Edmonton. Really good sushi and karage, tad on the expensive side, but you do get what you pay for!

I would give this restaurant one star because they disrespect delivery people. I had a couple of friends and myself who complained about the arrogance of its manager. He wanted to touch your bag and your phone to see the order number despite he's been given the right 4 digit order number and the name of the courrier. He would kick you out arrogantly otherwise. If you wanna assess the quality of service of a restaurant ask delivery people about that. Restaurants employees and managers show their true colors when dealing with us.

Always a pleasure to come here. Fast and friendly service. They always have their menu items. The establishment is clean and well kept. Food always comes out the way you expect - hot for cooked foods, fresh for cold foods.

We used to love going to this location and south BUT things seeem to have changed. The rolls were big and loose as well as the taste being a bit off on the dynamite roll. Secondly, the dragon rolls were highly disappointing as we used to come to mikado just for these items. Will not return to mikado west. And the guy with the tray doing constant circles was highly annoying/distracting.

Have been here many times throughout years and today the quality of food was very low. The chicken was undercooked, steak tasted like it was from a can.so disappointing. All for 60! Won’t be back. Used to be my favourite lunch place.

Last time I went it was for my friend's birthday and they gave her free dessert and wrote a nice bday message on the plate!

I wanted to inform someone at Head Office of the order that we received on Sunday, May 9th in the amount of $73.28. I thought it would be a good idea to place an order through Skip the Dishes. I placed my order at 5: 03 pm and we did not receive the order until 745. When I called the west side Mikado about the order at around730, I was told that the order was on the way and there was nothing that could be done. I asked about freshness of food and was told that all food would be fresh. We ordered a mixed tempura which arrived limp, soggy and cold. We order some spicy tuna rolls with California rolls and also some salmon sashimi. The sashimi was ok, but I am nervous about food safety on that one since we waited so long. I cannot comment on the other items as they were placed in the fridge right away. After waiting so long for something the craving wears off.

I can understand and sympathize with it being mothers day and also the last day before the pandemic restriction take hold. I would expect a local well established business to do better!

Mothers Day is already hard enough without the disappointment of an food. We have ordered from your business before and I will try my best to still order from you and not let this one experience define the business.

The eel was tender and tasted like good quality food. But there was only 6 thin pieces and definitely not worth almost $20. Underneath those 6 well laid out pieces of eel was like 0.01g of shredded fried egg and plain white rice. There was barely any sauce (you can see it clearly in the picture) and I needed to put quite a lot of soy sauce into rice or else I would be eating plain boring white rice for majority of the time.

However, you can see most hostess / waitress had Japanese accent so this place is a genetic Japanese restaurant (most other Japanese cuisine in town like Japanese village, watari etc are operated by Chinese).

I want to give them a 3.5, but I’ll round up. Really awesome salmon sashimi, hitachi beers, and the Brad roll is the best (thicker rolls and great portion of salmon on top). Excellent portion of salmon on top. Atmosphere is also nice! Their basics like: tempura, salad with ginger dressing and miso soup are quite bad unfortunately. Tuna tataki lacked flavor. I told our waitress about it many times that they really should fix the ginger dressing and other recipes, but they haven’t done anything about it. Prices are also quite high compared to other places nearby. Try it for yourself!

Normally a great place. Has gone way down hill with service as of late. Meal not timed properly and our server was nowhere to be found until we were completely done our entrees. Never asked how the untouched appetizer was. Even brought the bill while food was on the table and asked if I would pay now or later.

This is one of my favourite restaurants. I finally tried the $30 lobster roll, did not disappoint. Also, one of the biggest rolls I've ever had.

Katsu Don was lacking flavour/seasoning, sashimi was good, service was bad. Default tip option was 18% which was unpleasant to see. Decor/atmosphere was nice.

Amazing food experience. This place is better then any sushi place I have ever been too. The service was fast and quick and so was the food. Everything was high quality.

Lunch bento box A4. I know most restaurants pre-cook the food, but the shogayaki beef was prison food quality. Japanese stir fried beef is supposed to be thinly sliced and at least somewhat juicy. This beef was large chunks of the most rubbery, undercooked, and under-flavoured meat I’ve ever had in a bento box. The chicken was over cooked, dry, and barely warm. Please at least put some effort into making people’s food if you are going to take their money.
