It's always delightful to deal with Shivam. Very helpful guy. Its great that they have private courts. Gym is also not super busy atleast at the time I visit:)
Me and my family rarely go to Millwoods rec centre. Unfortunately my boy has to go for his ranger patrol swimming class there because this is only near location for this level of swimming. On very first day within 5 min the instructor named “Naomi” kicked him out by saying that he doesn’t have previous level certificate in his hand as he has lost it before and also she was so rude and used inappropriate words to my 10 year old boy which were not acceptable. My boy came home with teary eyes and he told me that the instructor was so racist. She was more attentive to other 2 Canadian kids. I approached the program manger and she was communicating good on phone but the day we went there to speak with them she totally changed her colour and stating that the instructor is very senior and I should be careful while talking with her. But as a parent I don’t care who’s senior or junior, they must know the right approach of communication towards children and treat them equally. She was literally sarcastic and mannerless instructor who has full support from her manager. We got the certificate from meadows and showed them. We approached city of Edmonton but they just shut the topic by saying that they already spoke with instructor. This kind of solution is not very productive but I hope that the instructor will use her manners in future very well. I feel sorry for these kind of instructors who has some loose temper issues.
Gym is big with lots of equiptment, and I appreciate the waves in the wave pool actually being strong and fun to splash around in, compared to other pools in Edmonton. Unfortunately, the public swim schedule is pretty restrictive and narrow. Renovations also need to be done on the facility itself, it's getting to be a bit dated.
Horrible horrible place to be at. Rasism is at the highest level at this location. Rules and policies only applies to visible minorities. If you think it's bad at other places, wait until you visit this location. I would encourage anyone who has been a victim of rasism at this location to speak up. Enough is enough. Guards at the pool had no other job to do but to Jarrad us, while there were non visible minorities doing whatever they want, the focus was only on us. When we brought the topic up, they ganged up on us, brought security, and started threatened to call the police. They completely ignored the non visible minorities and what they were doing, and when we pointed it out, they acted aggressively and asked us to leave. Very very sad and disappointing.
Great Review Such A great Waterpark Staff was friendly Waterslide was Awesome great for all ages but you need a swim test in order to go down the slide because it ends in a deep pool Wave pool is awesome! 15 mins on 10 mins off Great for All Ages also includes a tot pool & Diving board more than just a rec centre A full on Waterpark
Lift attendance was garbage they refuse to do their Jobs not making it a kid friendly place it us to be wouldn't refer this place to anyone anymore honestly leduc pool is well worth the drive after being in the pool for 10 minutes I wasn't aloud to even have my kids play in the shallow side if the pool and in all honesty I'll never be attending millwoods rec center again sad to say after 20 years of loyalty this place is not anything like it use to be
The rec centre itself is smaller than other rec centres however they do offer unique attractions such as a squash court, swimming pool, and a hockey arena next door.
Even tho it's one of the older rec centers in Edmonton. It's still great! Very well maintained and the locket rooms are nice and big with free lockers!
It's a decent sized rec area. The food is great, the staff are great, they have mostly everything you'd like to see in these places. The only kicker is that they don't turn on the waves unless it for a public swim.
Good over all. Definitely a nice decline into the pool. The water slide is awesome too. Probably a bit better than average. The waves are also amazing.
The staff here we're really friendly. We take our daughter here for swim lessons and the teachers are really attentive and organized. Also the lockers are free.
Why is the gym only open from 8am-7pm almost everyday, some people dont get off work until 6pm.the rec centre used to have more flexible hours kind if disappointing.
Millwoods Rec center is doing amazing job with cleaning and patrons safe. The facility is regularly being cleaned and disinfected. The usable areas and pathways are clearly marked. The pool is open and can accessed by picking up a time slot.
My little brother hadn't been swimming in over a year. He was eager to take his lap when the waves were over. We were waiting and calling to the life guard on site if we could go. (Later we were told he wasn't a swimming lap lifeguard) but he didn't answer us at all. He just turned away. My mom was literally holding him back while trying to get an answer. The other visitors at the pool were circling around the back of us staring and TELLING MY LITTLE BROTHER TO SHUT UP. He doesn't communicate well although he is getting there. When I mean they were staring I mean EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM were staring. It made my entire family upset and angry. Im very disappointed in the communication skills of the staff and am disappointed in the attending community members. HE HAS AUTISM.
If you got kids the skate park isn't for them common sense like looking both ways before crossing or staying off to the side like walking up the hill during winter is something you should teach them but not my kids right
Great Zumba class with Ashley on Tuesdays at 6: 00 pm! She's an amazing instructor. The classes are full of energy and fun. Anyone can dance to Ashley's class!
I haven't been in such a dirty pill change room in a long time. Never saw anyone spraying down the floors in the change rooms and there were hairballs everywhere
For age under 2years or over 8+ this place is awesome, deep water slide, rope swing, drop slide, short diving board, WAVES! And an awesome hot tub and warm simple baby pool
The cash-desk area is challenged, cramped, difficult to navigate and somewhat inefficient, although the facility itself is top-notch. Know the map because it's large and not kind to the disabled.
Clean. Busy. Washrooms are nice. Lots of parking. Little cafeteria upstairs is okay. Vending machines outside the dressing room corridors- bottom lobby- are too expensive.
Pretty satisfied with my visit here. Pool has shallow end, deep end. Swing rope and diving board. There's a waterslide and a hot tub. Even a sauna. Lockers come free with admission which wasn't too pricey. The waves for the deep end were not running but i still had a great time. Pool is a little on the warmer side. Was a great break from our harsh winter.
Really great place, would totally recommend this place to anyone. Perfect parking, especially at night time. Really nice staff and lifeguards in the aquatics section.
Its a nice recreation centre. My biggest concern is the parking and the potholes in and around. Told the ladies at the front that the potholes r a concern and there is no parking they didnt seem to care. They need to start ticketing people who think they can park and ride to downtown from the millwoods rec centre. Its very hard to find parking in the the parking lot infront of the rec centre if each stall is filled and a stack of snow is covering 4 parking stalls.
Clean, updated and relatively well equipped. The lockers are free, which is a plus. The pool is clean and there are attentive lifeguards. Unfortunately the gym is less than ideal, as there are not as many machines or equipment as some other facilities, and there always seems to be a more unpleasant odour than other gyms that I have attended. I am unsure if this is due to suboptimal ventilation, but it can be distracting at times.
This place is awesome. Sometimes the lifeguards are a little over protective, but that's not the worst. Sometimes theres stuff in the pool (only in the shallow end) which is kind of gross but I spend most of my time in the deep end so its not that bad
Nice pool but the water and building are so cold me and my kid's couldn't stay long because we were shivering so bad please turn up the temperature of the water.
Pool with wave (good for kids, not for serious swimmers), small sauna room near the pool, great ice rinks, great staffs and good customer service. Plenty of parking spaces.
Went here around 7: 30pm on 22-08-2019 for Registration, lady at customer service was superbly professional, really liked the way she treated my friend and gave him all the information. Even she him a free tour, which is very rare. Lifeguard at pool was also very cooperative. Would love to visit this place on daily basis, even though this one is old and smaller one on south side as compared to Terwilliger and Meadows recreation centre.
The changerooms are small but have free lockable lockers. The showers are automatically controlled by your distance from the sensor so they are ridiculous because of how often they shut off. Equipment in the gym is alright and staff is friendly. At the time of writing this they are doing some work on the pool area.
Unlike Confederation, they actually have a CLEAN pool and stopped requiring customers to pay for a locker. Hands down, the best one I've been to for swimming lessons
