Our group of 6 dropped in on an extremely cold day for sandwiches and pie based on a recommendation received in Rocky Mountain House. We were not disappointed with the food or service. As good as the sandwiches were, this place is known for their pies. I'm a bit of a pie snob, but I can safely say this was the best rhubarb strawberry pie I've ever had. 5 star for sure.
Walked in after gassing up Friday morning sept 30 and went to order at the counter the lady was making a coffee and didn’t say anything I was standing with wallet in hand and lady young gal wouldn’t even Look at me or acknowledge me
Wow. As a customer we need to be greeted and asked “ how May I help you”
After she started cleaning without even looking at me I left
E this place
I left was going to buy a. Lot
From victoria bc
Wonder how black people feel … I’m white but this lady had some bias towards me and if I’m paying $5.50 for a crassont I want service With a smile.
SUPER DELICIOUS EVERYTHING! If I could have boxed up all those pies and smuggled them in my carry-on, I would have. The crust on the pies are perfection. Great menu and super lovely staff made Miner's Cafe an amazing pit stop after a day of hiking. A hidden treasure? I think not.
This place never fails to amaze! If you come here, you have to try their pies. But, their sandwiches and soups are great too. I often detour through Nordegg just to stop at Miners' Cafe.
Update: September 2023 - Still one of the best places for lunch!
Great homemade food! Pies! Pies! And more pies! Sandwiches and soups and ice cream. Yummm. Friendly staff and clean restaurant. Sit in or out. Next to cute local my made crafts.
If you are looking for great homemade pies and treats, you have to come here. Prices are a bit high, but totally worth it as it is good to support a Nordegg business who needs to survive!
Stopped here for pie but ended up getting some soup too. The soup was great (Tuscan sausage) and the pie's were excellent. We had Apple & Blackberry and Bumbleberry, these were crammed with fruit and not overly sweet. Well worth a visit if you are passing by.
After seeing the offerings online, we stopped by for a piece of pie after our packed lunch. It did not disappoint. We had strawberry-rhubarb and Boston creme and they were both very good. They have full pies for sale (frozen) which we wished we could have taken advantage of but our situation did not allow for it. Lunches looked good and I would recommend for anyone passing through.
Woooow! We had the blueberry mango pie and bought a frozen pie to take home and eat. Both were exceptional! The staff and kind and pay attention to detail. Prices were reasonable.
The best pie and a huge scoop of ice cream! Friendly atmosphere with fabulous food! There's so many pies to choose from and frozen ones to take home! If your in the area it's a must stop!
We stopped in for coffee and pie. The reviews said the pies were amazing and they were. My husband had a mango/blueberry pie and I had a rhubarb/strawberry one. They were the best pie we have ever eaten. Highly recommend this little cafe.
It’s awesome, not because it is the only cozy cafe they make fresh Pies. And coffee is amazingly good. Have a big sitting moreover friendly staff. I enjoyed mine at there patio. Love my visit to be at your cafe.
What a gem, amazing food and delicious pie and ice cream. I'll be taking my girls camping next week and this has become a place we stop at on the way home dvery time we go to Nordegg
Homemade bread for our sandwiches and strawberry rhubarb pie were awesome. They were short staff and extremely busy but everyone was patient and the staff was pleasant!
Great grub for sure.literally down home, well made and the pie is really, REALLY good. They were short of staff apparently. I will work for free pie, that's all I need! You all need to visit this tidy little cafe in Nordegg.
Pies are absolutely delicious with all sorts of flavours to choose from; drinks are alright. The lemonade is way too sweet and the coffee drinks are mediocre.
Was excited for this to open after renovation. Was a bit of a let down that it's not that great. We stop in this area frequently to fill up on gas up and for the pies every time we go camping. I am hopeful that it improves and gets better in time
We always stop by when we're in the area. The lattes are just right, you can still taste the richness of the coffee while having the smoothness and flavor of the milk. They also have a variety of alt milks. The pie is always to die for, honestly probably the best I've had. Always has lots of fruit that always tastes so fresh and the crust is crispy with a bit of softness on the inside. I also had a power bowl and it was great, lots of fresh veggies, perfectly cooked quinoa and a nice light dressing. If you're around Nordegg, do yourself a favor and hit up this café.
We all had something to eat including the roast beef sandwich, egg salad sandwich, small chicken Caesar and I had the cream of mushroom soup it was all absolutely delicious! The apple peach pie and the rhubarb strawberry pie were amazing. Only regret not buying a whole pie to take home! Always stop here if you can!
EAT The PIE! Service was quick & friendly on a very busy afternoon. Everything was fresh and delicious. We had sandwiches, pie and drinks that were better than.well one of those coffee places. So Good will be back for more pie!
What a great little spot. Very convenient right beside the gas station and across the street from the hotel. Our group had the breakfast sandwiches and we bought lunch for the road both were excellent. They even took care to pack the pickles separate from the sandwiches so as not to make them soggy. We liked it so much we went back for pie on our way home and it was the best pie I maybe ever had in my life. When going down Highway 11, I have had very little reason to stop in Nordegg except for gas, now I would not drive by it without stopping at the Miners café.
After 3 days at the Fairmont in Lake Louise we took the scenic drive home to Edmonton - and had the best lunch & dessert we have had in a long time! Well worth the stop Service was equally as good
4 sandwiches that cost $45, understand small town, things are going to cost a little more. However it would have been nice to have something besides bread. There was a serious lack of toppings on "said" sandwiches. I ordered the egg salad, was maybe a tablespoon of the actual egg salad, store bought potato chips (maybe 6 chips) and a paper thin slice of what I think was a pickle. We also ordered grilled ham and cheese (had no ham on it) and one greasy piece of cheese, and a roast beef sandwich that had 1 slice of meat on it. There was no flavor at all, and literally it was a bread sandwich with wilted lettuce and basically nothing else. We would have faired better with gas station sushi then whatever the Miner's Cafe served up! Do your self a favor and go anywhere besides this garbage cafe! However the young man who took our order was extremely pleasant.
Simple home cooking style food. Great pies and well priced. Nordegg has needed something like this for ages (the new location that is, old was pretty small!). Very friendly staff
This place is amazing, great staff. Usually if we stop at a place that’s closing in 20-30 mins they don’t let us order for my family of 5 but this place not only let us order but let us eat until we were done! Also, their pies are amazing. So if you are travelling near nordegg, give them a visit!
What a great little place to find in tiny Nordegg! Great food, delicious and creative pies, and friendly comoetent staff. My whole party was impressed and we will all go back! Enjoy!
This place is amazing! Make sure you stop by if your traveling near Nordegg. We plan our camping trips around going there on the way home for an awesome breakfast bagel and a slice of pie. This is such a great place to eat at. The staff are super welcoming and very warm. The pie is astonishing. Eat here!
Gluten and Dairy friendly menu options. We had the mozzarella sandwich and taco salad which were pretty good. The DF GF eat more bar was extremely good.
New location. Same great food, AMAZING pie and awesome staff. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE location. If you enjoy dust, watching people fuel up and constant noisy quads and vehicles right beside you this is the place. The old building had a cozy setting, history, was quaint and mining artifacts to look at. Minimal traffic, no dust and a great view of the mountains. It is beyond me why this location was chosen. Of all the options there could have been a spot with an amazing view on a patio or deck. I just don't get it.
What a genuinely nice little place. We've stopped by twice now and both times I've been super impressed. Kind staff, nice little menu, and gluten free options! You don't see that often in the middle of nowhere. We will be back before we are finished camping. Great place for a rest stop or to treat yourself after some time camping in the woods. This place is always fairly busy but fast service.
This place is a yearly tradition for our family. Unfortunately at our last visit we were shocked with the amount of food they are now serving. We ordered the Taco Salad-dinner size and it was very tiny, lots of lettuce but very little toppings. We also ordered three pies and the pecan pie had no bottom. They were considerably smaller than last summer’s. I would suggest maintaining the portion sizes they used to have and became popular for before they start losing clients in order to save a few dollars.
Incredible service with friendly staff. Special thanks to Johnny for his efficient and professional service. Indoor seating is cozy and has lots of natural sunlight. Outdoor picnic tables also available. Got the peach apple pie slice; it was a little too sweet for me. Tasty cabbage roll soup, though it was served very hot. Overall, a great family-run gem in Nordegg.
A group of us went in for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the selection of pies. They were delicious and loaded with fruit filling. Service was friendly and fairly quick.
Then our sandwiches came. There were maybe two slices of cheap deli meat, the bread was stale, and there was about half a leaf of lettuce with a thin layer of mayo and mustard. Both the turkey and beef sandwiches came out like this. Chili was more tomato soup with ground beef than chili. For the prices they charge I definitely expected something better.
Go for the pies, but I'd skip out on the rest of the menu.
Everytime I camp close to nordegg I have to stop by. The food is fantastic. I recommend all of it. If you get pie make sure to have it warmed with a scoop of ice cream. With all that being said the price might be a little high for most people. Go for the pie if nothing else!
A cafe one must stop at when heading to or from the mountains (such as Abraham Lake), the the Crossing. The food is good, but the old-town atmosphere is great. It has become busier over the years, but that hasn't reduced the quality and small-town feel. The adjoining one-room museum is a quint glimpse into Nordegg's past as mining hamlet and the souvenir shop has a few nice things. The restaurant is known for its excellent pies. I always go there for the soup!
This is a wonderful cafe with real honecooked soup, sandwiches and salads. Pie is obviously their specialty and I got a second piece to go because it was so good.
Wait staff was rude from the moment we walked in the door. Would not serve lunch 10 min before eleven. Ham was served cold with my breakfast. Potatoes were cubed and cook until you could not eat them. Pancakes were half cooked eggs were over done. Overall.not going back to this place.
Stopped in for a sandwich. It was great. Fresh bread. Real cheese and sandwich roast beef. Better than eating fast food on the road. They gave me pickles too. A nice cafe with a bakery style menu. My meal was about $11.
