Mister Transmission

I had my transmission in my 2005 Passat TDI fail in February 2012. The forward gears all quit working. I was given a referral from Eurasia Automotive, which I found a first class shop, to Clutch and Grab Transmission. The repairs were done for $3600. The day I drove home I phoned to say that there were some "hard shifts" from first to second and second to third. I was told that it would take time for the computer to catch up to the new parts and adjust. It changed in intensity from time to time but never resolved. I took the car back a week later to have them test drive it and they said there was nothing wrong. At that time I also had them re-install underbody shields because they had layered them from back to frount so that they caught the wind rather than the obvious way frount to back so the wind sheeted off. This was not a big deal but I was amazed that the guy was arguing with me that he had done it right the first time notwithstanding that the shields were catching in the wind and bending and were being damaged by contact with the road. Forward fifteen months and I call Clutch and Grab to say that I am still having problems and they are getting worse. They tell me that it is most likely a poor battery contact and to clear my battery posts and all should be OK. A week later the transmission fails again and I have just had to have the whole transmission redone again for $4700. Clutch and Grab not only said too bad you are out of the warrantee period they have not even provide me with a parts list of what they replaced in 2012 even though they promised that they would. They are very smooth talking and promise you everything but my experience has left me very dissatisfied.

“Free Road Test and Multi-Check Inspection. The Mister Transmission Road Test and Multi-Check Inspection includes: 1. Visual Inspection 2. Fluid Check (on models with dipsticks) 3. Road Test 4. On Board Diagnostics (OBD) Computer Scan – read codes”
That is not the case. I declined the service due to the part actually being less expensive at the Toyota dealership. $180 vs $301. When I asked if they could find another less expensive after market part like Toyota, I was told “well we have to make our cut to”. I think $120 is quite the cut. I DID NOT try and discuss the labour charges. So I declined the service and was billed a diagnostic, while others received “complimentary diagnostics (read other reviews) ”. I didn’t argue it. And this is even after I emailed and said I suspected it was the CV axle. Upon paying, their debt machine was not working due to it not being plugged in. I paid, no one was sure it went through, they assumed it didn’t and both weren’t happy with me. The one gentleman didn’t even acknowledge me thinking I scammed them. I even called them later to reassure they got paid.

Great service. Saved me thousands of dollars that I was prepared to pay, but the guys here felt like there was a more simple fix to try first before replacing more parts. So far so good! Seems like a bunch of honest people trying to fix problems for customers.

I don't recommend this business at all. I took my car for a diagnose, and they told me that my car has a problem in the transmission and it needs to be fixed. So of course I went to a different shop (cz their rates are super high) and I changed the transmission and after that I tested the car and it was the same problem and it seems that it needs a new rear differential and not a transmission! It was my fault that I trusted them and their diagnose and I asked the other mechanic to change the transmission right away! So I threw my money in the garbage and my transmission was tottaly fine! I contacted them and it seems they don't offer any warranty on their diagnose! So please be carefull of what you are trusting!

Edmonton Branch sucks, They did Wrong diagnostic, mentioned there was issue with trans, but the trans was fine!

Happy to have taken my car here to have the transmission fixed! The turn around time was reasonable, and the price was also fair. Also appreciated their high level of communication and clarity of what was being done.

Was told by a tire shop they thought my clutch was starting to fail. After worrying for a while, I finally took it to Mister Transmission. They got me in right away, tested the vehicle, and told me my clutch was in perfect condition and they didn’t recommend any action at the moment. Great service, and they didn’t charge me a penny for the inspection. I will definitely take my car back to these guys when it is actually time for a new clutch.
