Money Back Container Shack

We had 8-9 bags full of cans mostly more than 1 L. The lady keeps counting both L in between transacting other costumers for cashing out. How does she keeps the numbers in mind and continuously punching other customers money. I was surprised to only get 28$ for 8-9 garbage bags. Im totally shocked how dishonest this depot! Saw others getting out with only 3 garbage bags and has worth 20$. Avoid going to this lady!

I'll give it to zero stars as well. I had nine bags of bottles. The person beside meanaged to get 6 people through while I watched mine walk away, empty other containers in-between counting. I waited over 30omins for her to count. Only ending in 60.00. I can definitely tell you there was more than $60 worth of cans and bottles considering our crush them all before they go into the bag.
I'll definitely not be going back anytime.

My total came to 45.25. The woman cleared it out to reduce the total to 44.95. She passed me the 40 in bills and held onto the change like I was going to tell her to keep it. Scamming for tips these days.

DO NOT USE THIS PLACE. THEY ARE NOT HONEST. Each month for several years we have cashed In The bottles for a seniors home. The numbers of bottles are pretty consistent all the time, as is the money we receive for them. Today we took the bottles here Instead of the place we have used for years. We received 30.00 less for our bottles, even though the number of which were consistent with the number of bottles we have been cashing in for years. They simply undercounted the bottles and stole the difference.

I'm not surprised about the service provided here, the vibe and environment validates my low expectations from this bottle depot. Also, the staff should have some sort of PPE to protect their hearing as I felt like I could've gone deaf by the fact that one of the staff in the back was piling glass bottles from shoulder height into a bin and making all the ruckus - no one had hearing protection. I was glad to rush out of the place knowing that some bottles were ripped off and not counted.

Stay away. Counted incorrectly. Who counts by 4s?

Hard to communicate with staff then we had to wait forever for them to check over our receipt after we mentioned the incorrect tally. Never coming back.

Avoid this place like the plaque. Either they don't know how to count or they are very dishonest as others have said. I purposefully brought in a flat of pop cans and they deliberately shortchanged me by 6 cans.

I will report to the city or so! They ripped me off again today. I know they have been doing for years and I sucked it up. But today for some reason, I’m getting a bit angry about their dishonesty.

Every time I’ve gone to this place I’ve felt like I was leaving with a lot less than what I should have. I tend to have pretty similar numbers overall from each time I return bottles but this place always seemed to give me less than my average. I’m not comfortable coming back here.

We left feeling totally ripped off. She didn't record the numbers the entire time she sorted, and then obviously counted them all as 5¢ or 10¢ when we had mostly large containers.
Our family has saved up our bottles multiple times and have an idea what they're worth. The kids get to spilt the money and were so disappointed when she basically just grunted and handed us a measly 40 bucks for a huge load.

No place to bring a large pile of bottles back to if you are looking for a somewhat accurate count but not bad if you are just getting rid of bottles and can clutter

This bottle depot has the least amount of automation compared to other bottle depots in the city. Like most bottle depots it is dirty, smelly, and the clientele come from all walks of life. The staff are nice, but they could use more space in the front section. Customers take their spot in line seriously, a year ago somebody pulled out some heat in front of another customer who they thought was cutting in line. Bottle depot refunds is serious business

It is quite small and dirty, but it is a fast paced manual operation. No fancy strings attached. The ladies and gents who work there work hard and for how busy they are, they are quite polite. They are just trying to service fast as possible while doing things manually, but if you just give em a polite hello they can be very welcoming. I'm sure they put up with alot of rude and difficult people.

It was ok, I had to wait in line for a while, There is not a lot of room, especially on the customers side. The staff were curtious but seemed somewhat unfriendly. It wasn't towards the customers, it was like they just didn't want to be there. Anyways I got paid and it seemed to be a pretty accurate count. I am going to give it a three out five stars.

If you're in a pinch, it's quick. Unsanitary, and unorganized. Not sure if they counted right, you just want to get out fast.

Very mixed signals about this place, not 100% sure if they're being completely honest with counting. Kinda frustrating, but not worth arguing over either

Good service unfortunately the small size of the operation limits accessibility & movement and cannot compete with better proportioned facilities. It does admirably meet a local need but is best left for smaller loads.

There were issues with the number of bottles being counted. One lady ahead of me questioned the amounts of bottles that were posted. She had apparently counted them at home and was short changed during the count. I was a bit worried that this may have happened to me in the past. There really should be an automated way to count bottles at the depots. This would remove human error.

Brought in 2 bags of counted bottles They ended up miscounting by $8 what a rip off I do not recommend this place Less you want to lose money on your bottles

Hard working bunch of people but are behind technology wise. If you have the time, come here. If you would rather be in and out quickly, pretty much any other bottle depot will be much faster and efficient.

Totally dishones people. I went there many times but this vist is after 3 months bcoz of pandemic. So 3 times more bottles deposit this time but surprisingly money is same like i visted every month. I noticed their dishonesty many times but for me it can be human mistake but this time they pay me 1/3 of my bottles. Avoid going there.

The number of bottles is always considered to be less than the actual number available, especially when the number of bottles is high.

This is by far the worst one in the city.you ask a staff a question and they cant speek our language.makes for a bad visit. And to make it worse no washrooms.i say if you hav e things to take in go toi the uptown on 10th ave and 6 th street. Money Back, if i had it my way your doors would close for ever, like i told tyou clowns last year, what goes around xcomes around.

Despite the louder noise in the facility, Harv was welcoming and helped me help him sort the bottles I was returning. I'll be back again

I was ripped off over 50 to 60 dollars that I worked so hard for how do I get the tape for proof how do I get my money

Small place, seems busier than it usually is inside. Always a line outside, but the place isn't big enough inside to have a line. Seem to get an accurate count always. You'll never have an issue with an employee talking too much to you.

It was a great place to return bottles the people their are nice and are pretty honest with the bottle counting

The lady running this place was super rude. I have veery hard hearing and she almost kicked me out for "yelling" in a loud area when I can barely hear in a. Quiet one. I always pre count my bottles because I've caught them ripping me off. But now that covid happened and they need money I guess they don't let you do that anymore. The was rude, inconsiderate of my disability problem, and even almost kicked me out for trying to explain it

Only had one bad experience about a year ago when one of the employees refused any customers in to the place five minutes before closing time and he had a very nasty attitude/behavior.

I used to think that my estimation of what I thought I was bringing back was constantly higher than what I ended up with, it wasn’t the money so much as my poor judgement. So now I count ahead, and tell them, and they still recount but with more accuracy:)

This place is awesome! They met me at my car to carry my bottles in. The staff were friendly and so quick. I’m always welcomed with a smile and helpful staff. Thanks again for your amazing service.

Most people here who give this place five stars most likely don't count their bottles, so in turn, don't care what amount they receive in return. I've been here many times, and I've always been shorted. They don't care at all if you complain or tell them that you already counted them. Once you give away those bottles, that's it you're out of luck.

I won't say the whole staff are dishonest, but I sure got a dishonest guy. Even when I presented my well-sorted list, he still managed to steal 13 units from me, by trying to rush me along. If he had mentioned a tip, I would've given, but to purposely take it is distasteful.

Growing up in the neighbourhood, both myself and everyone I know tries to avoid this depot due to consistently being given the incorrect amounts back. The employees have been rude and there is constantly theft going on. We go well out of our way to go to a different depot.

Most reviews are negative, and based on the spelling in negative reviews, I wonder if those people can even count. I haven't had any issues with this place. Lrn 2 spel.

Complete rip off artists. They cheat you out of money every time.tThis place needs a investigation done to it.

They short you on the count. The more you have the more they short you. Plus parking can be tough.
Only reason I go is the location is close to my house, I just try not to go with more than 2 bags.

Literal thieves. Have been ripped off every time I've gone there. Was threatened with violence when I confronted the guy. The manager called me a racist and threatened to hit me with a baseball bat.

I've been going here for 20+ years. Once they gave spot away because I took too long going back and forth to get bottles from my car. People yell at you for taking their spot in line when I'm just trying to get back to my car. I can't carry 10+ garbage bags in one trip. They smile at me until I take beer cans out then they judge me and round the number off ($40.00 exact dollars for 6+ garbage bags? !?) I'm starving to death this is why I'm at the bottle depot, if I drank all this beer I'd have a huge beer belly or I'd look like a crack head. I'll still give it 3 or 5 stars because more than half the time I don't get ripped off, I've tried other bottle depots they're not much better. I just wish people wouldn't take advantage of the poor so much. It feels like stepping back in time 150 years to a wild west vigilante justice style town. Watch your back.

The bottle counters are nice, but do a bad count. This bottle depot will rip you off a fair amount.due to guess counting? And constantly talking to other employees

Usually quick in/out. Never had a bad experience here. Sometimes parking can be difficult though.

Thieves count your cans and boltes before going they will give you 70% of what you cans are worth

Yes it is a bottle depot, I expect it to smell and be dirty, they all do, that's what gloves and washing your hands are for. But I dont expect to get ripped off every time I go there. I have counted and pre-sorted my bottles because I had suspicions the counts weren't correct in the past, and sure enough they were ripping me off by 6 to 15 dollars every time I went.

Also to all the people who work there and or get paid to leave a positive review on here, its becomes quite obvious to the rest of us that they rip us ALL off and u will learn quickly to not dare confront them about it or u will be treated badly, called racist, and they then threaten to call police.

And to all the people that feel sorry for them, like less is more or raven black ect, if you ever worked in a smelly place u would realize that after a short while u dont smell it at all. That's how people can shovel pig and cow manure all day and not bat an eyelid, or smoke cigarettes; on top of that most of them are likely working for cash for various reasons as well.
I'll continue to take mine elsewhere, just wanted to warn all that the the positive reviews on here are usually from staff or friends of staff, they are mostly not true. Beware if u do go or have no choice, but count them and write it all down before going there if want your proper returns back.

Yes they are thieves, and they should be charged with theft after all this time. Mabey some just dont care when someone steals $7 or so from them, It must be nice to have money to burn like that but if it was taken from those same people's pockets or bank accounts they will surely complain as well.
