Definitely the best ski shop I dealt over the years. Friendly, courteous, extremely knowledgeable and helpful, they got my bindings installed right away. I also got extremely good deal on the equipment as it’s the end of the season. I highly recommended Mountain Culture.

Staff are very knowledgeable and went out of their way to help me get my ski equipment ready for the season (even product I didn’t buy there). The owner even stayed late to help adjust my bindings
In the summer, they searched for parts for my SUP pump. I have gone in several times and always felt like their goal was to help me enjoy my sport.it wasn’t just about a sale. Excellent customer service.

By far the best ski store I have ever been to. Got me a full set up and took their time to make sure everything was right for me. Been there a couple times since and the service stays fantastic and knowledgable. Every worker I’ve come across definitely knows their stuff and genuinely care that you get what’s right for you. They always do great tune ups and ski sharpens, for a great price. I’d recommend to anyone needing anything Ski/Snowboard related.

Went in for a new pair of snowboard boots and I was helped by Patrick. He was fantastic, he had a great attitude and was SUPER knowledgeable about the products in the store! I ended up buying socks boots, gloves and Custom molded insoles for my boots. AMAZING customer service.
We've had our gear serviced here too and it has been very good and the turn around time is very quick. The shop makes great use of its space.

This is a really cool store and the selection is small but unique. I was very disappointed with the knowledge of the young staff - I asked one of the workers which $65 neck warmer I should by - and he just shrugged and said "I don't know, I guess they're all good" and proceeded to talk to another customer *over me* when I finally decided on one with literally no help. It's disappointing because I would think that a niche shop like this would pride themselves on ski/board knowledge and educate their staff on all the products. If you're looking for the pros - save your time and head to The Source Boards or Ski Cellar.

*Edit - sorry it was a balaclava, and it was $65. Your passive-aggressive reply isn't appreciated either. This is exactly why I won't be returning, or referring people to this business.

Picked up a longboard from the Mountain Cultures shop. An extremely positive experience. Very friendly and answered any questions I had. I highly recommend checking them out before looking to the mall shops!

I was there last Saturday with my son brought my skis and boots.
We discuss lot of detail and they are very knowledgeable and helped me for all my issues. Kevin and pat are very friendly and helpful. Something like these small shop with good stuff that I love it.
I will go back there for all my equipment tune and buy right product from them.

Great honest service. After being to several shops in town to have skis tuned and waxed, I have never had better service than here. I drove from downtown to get there and it was worth it. Thanks for the honesty guys; we’ll be back.

Experiences have been mixed. Latest one left a bad taste.

When I first visited in Nov 2020, I loved that there was a shop close to my home with good gear and in-house service. I spent ~$1000 this season on various stuff over the course of a few visits: new snowboard bindings, then some edge sharpening kits and a new helmet and goggles for my daughter, then a helmet and goggles for my son.
For the latest purchase in early Dec 2020, the helmet section of the store was a bit of a mess: the Oakley helmet they suggested for my son was sitting above a $200 Oakley price label, but I found out when I got home that the actual price of the item on the receipt was $230. There are no price tags affixed to helmets, as the boxes are kept in the back room. For me $200 was already a budget stretch, so I bought a simpler helmet from Sportchek for $120 and went back to return this one within the 14 day period. I was told that they don't accept any returns on any helmets, even though it was still unused in the box. This policy was then pointed out to me on the receipt (which a person receives AFTER purchasing when it is apparently too late). At no point in my previous visits to shop for helmets had this policy ever been mentioned. The staff member offered to go ask "the owner" about a possible return. He disappeared into the back for a minute and then came back and said no. So now I had 2 helmets for my son who only has 1 head. The staff member suggested that I should sell it on Kijiji. I knew I would lose money on the deal but I gave it a try.
I ended up eating a $90 loss on the helmet on Kijiji. I went back to the store at the end of December, where I saw they had now put up a prominent sign on the helmet rack that says "Helmet Sales Are Final". I explained the situation again and proposed that they help me out by essentially price matching my recent purchase to one that I had found advertised elsewhere for a lower price. They would give up some of the margin and I would mitigate my $90 loss (and keep coming back for other purchases in future). The staff member said they do some price matching, but not retroactively - in such instances they tell people to just return the item and go buy it for the lower price (which I can't do for policy reasons). The staff member acknowledged that the person who sold me helmet #2 was newer and might not have known to tell me helmet sales are final. He said that he could take down my info and "the owner" would call me.
It has now been 3 weeks and I have not been contacted. I still think this is a decent store (which is obvious by the average rating). I like supporting a local shop in my neighbourhood. However, the promise to contact me about the helmet issue is still unresolved and it has left a bad taste. I see the owner often comments on customer reviews. Feel free to reach out to me.

Update After Owner Response
I got a response from the owner within 30 minutes of posting my public review. I feel the owner addressed nearly all of my concerns about the transaction, but the apology rings a bit hollow when they say they are sorry that I didn't review the credit card authorization at check out to find the pricing mix-up even though it had 4 items on the bill totaling several hundred dollars. I think the offer of a service credit is a reasonable solution for the hassle. I accept and consider the helmet matter resolved. The owner did not confirm whether my earlier details had been passed along or why I was not contacted sooner, so that we could have handled this privately.

FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE WITH THESE GUYS!

Long story short, I bought an outdoor tent accessory that was defective, despite being very expensive. I sent an email back to them about it and they immediately responded with an offer for store credit, no questions asked. I then followed up with the manufacturer but had no luck, then they followed up for me and fought hard to get my money back. They were responsive and extremely pleasant the whole time. This was a wonderful experience and I will definitely shop here again despite being three provinces away.

Very nice store with knowledgeable staff. Not limited to ski and board but they also have summer water toys. We bought a paddle board and returned next day to get a kayak!

Placed an order online for skis and poles. Turned out that the poles I ordered were out of stock. Instead of a generic e-mail telling me they couldn't fulfill my order, I got a personal phone call and they walked me through their in stock alternatives and even hooked me up with a deal on them. Sent the order out the same day. Incredible service. We'll be getting our gear here again.

Bought a pair of Fischer Ranger all Mountain there, I ask for the 120flex as my race boots are 130 and I was looking for a little less stiffness. Ride the boots one days and half in various conditions, the boots are like snowboard boots.
So brought them back, only possible deal was to exchange them for the 130 for a greasy 30% stockage fee!
Any competent person would have told me that a guy of 6’4 215lbs is way to heavy for these boots!
For me was a first and last time to deal with this satisfaction guaranteed part time!

Jay is a great guy. I don't know much about skiing but he helped me out tremendously. He went above and beyond with the service he provided me. He really cares, and enjoys what he does and it shows in the service. Jay set me up with everything I needed to start skiing and was very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Mountain Culture to anyone and will be going back for anything else I'll need. Great place.

Amazing winter sports shop and service center. Offers a wide range of appeal and equipment. Sells and provides tuning materials and devices. Located in a shopping plaza. Recommend a visit!

Awesome specialized ski store with the best service and great pricing. My daughter, husband and myself were all fitted for ski boots and we all love what we have now. Made a huge difference for enjoying each day we go ski! Will be returning for any future ski needs!

Best ski shop in calgary by far. I outfitted my kids and myself through mountain cultures. Jay is awesome to deal with and has went out of his way to make everything perfect. The staff are all great and the gear is top notch.

This store is the best. I have shopped there since they opened. They have a great selection of best quality gear - I have bought skis, goggles, helmet. Last week I bought new boots - they made the selection process and the fitting so easy and they know so much. Jay Vaughan the owner was there as was Kevin Press- he's a master at that. I HIGHLY recommend this store as the best place for best quality gear and expertise. Thanks guys)
