We stayed in this hotel for two nights. It was a newly renovated room with no problem with the sanitary facilities. However, the air conditioner started up too loudly, which is not very friendly to people with sleep disorders. Although the breakfast varieties are simple, they are satisfying because they have hot food. Chinese stomach needs; considering that parking at Lake Louise is inconvenient, we chose to walk there, which takes about an hour and involves a lot of climbing. If you are not physically fit, choose carefully. It is recommended to walk to Lake Louise Inn and take the Line 11 bus back and forth, which saves effort, but Pay attention to check the return time to avoid missing it or waiting too long; the service is good and responsive to all requests. They helped us print the boarding pass. Recommended
Firstly they need to do something about airflow in the rooms! No AC means it gets HOT at night! One small window is not enough to cool the room down! First night was manageable but second night our room was 26degrees and we had to open the door at 3am just to cool ourselves off. They gave us one small desk fan which is not enough for a room that size!
The room does smell a bit musky I have to admit! But it was newly renovated so it looked nice and the beds are so comfortable! Mornings we left the door open while we sorted stuff out and it usually helped.
The trains do run all night but honestly I barely heard them! And what can the hotel do about that exactly?
The location is perfect! Right In The middle of town!
Staff were nice and helpful so no problems there! I do think it’s a little pricy but we had a decent time there!
I read the reviews and apparently there are some non renovated rooms, well I got a renovated room and it was great, beds were comfortable and bathroom looks modern, we can even watch netflix on the tv. The only downside is that the ac had a mind of its own and it would randomly open and close, other than that, it is great! (Btw u stayed in room 114)
Room was okay but sofa bed made it quite cramped and the location was quite poor as it had little food and somewhat poor grocery nearby. Service was OK.
We obviously didn’t get a renovated room. The room was outdated and musty. Road construction outside grinding the asphalt at night limited any sleep we may have had. Saving grace was the better than mediocre breakfast. Value for money was no where near the $400 we spent.
Great hotel in Lake Louise. Very conveniently located for skiing. Our room was large and comfortable. The included breakfast was very good. I would stay there again. The train tracks were about 100 yards from our room but is relatively quiet.
Wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. The gentleman working at the front desk from Ontario was very friendly, helpful, and genuine - amazing service. Rooms were clean and spacious. Best part was the hot continental buffet with waffles, bacon, bagels, eggs, and yogurt bar. Highly recommended stay.
This hotel proposes great comfort, at the vicinity of nature reserves. The small rooms are very big, though the mattresses are too soft. The breakfast is ideal for travelers satisfying with wide variety. The staff is very supportive and knowledgeable.
Quiet location with ease of access to Lake Louise and surrounding shops. Freight trains run through here only 50m away but other than that it's a decent area. Helpful staff onsite and good facilities. Edit: the breakfast room is down a fairly steep staircase and there's no elevator to get there. This is a concern for people with mobility issues.
The Inn is very well appointed and well managed. Not luxurious but comprehensive facilities in the room including automatic night light and heated floor in bathroom. Useful hooks all over the room. Bed mattresses were sagging so didn't sleep well.
Breakfast options are limited. No basic cereal though many value added options. No boiled egg or omelette, just a pan fried egg option. No Indian tea/ chai. Good selection of bakery products.
Limited public area and facilities.
Good location next to petroleum pump and village shops.
I am here with my family of 5. Wanted to splurge on our last night in the rockies. Our room is right beside the train tracks. It's 1 am and I'm awake. I'm feeling quite disappointed that I paid $650 and I'm not sleeping. We would have been better off staying in our budget resort back in banff. However, the staff are kind.
Excellent place. Staff was so friendly and welcoming and the rooms are fabulous! Location was great as well as I got to really experience the mountains and lakes
We had a great stay in Mountaineer Lodge. The room was comfortable and modern with everything you need. Trains can just be heard from the rooms on the far side but they stop by 10pm. Overall, one of the best places we stayed at for our vacation.
This place is so clean and recently renovated. Front desk staff are very friendly. They also offer free all you can eat breakfast. Strongly recommended!
We stayed in the newly renovated rooms they were spacious with a nice bathroom and comfy beds. We were really looking forward to the hot tub and steam room to top off our night but unfortunately the steam room barely worked and the hot tub was at 80°F usually they at 100°F minimum so it was a cold tub. For $480 a night it was pretty disappointing and the front desk worker didn’t seem to care much she just said “we are sorry” a little discount off the rate would have been nice. I think we will try the “Lake Louise Inn” on our next trip.
I was quickly passing through Banff From Vancouver BC returning same day as I'm driving back to Vancouver I read the signs that at 10 o'clock highway one close had to do a 3 hour detour just to be back to golden or my other option it was to stay in a hotel room.unfortunately all rooms all hotels everything was booked but Doug the manager and his staff apologized for not having a room to offer but they're more than willing to let me stay in their parking and they offer me sleeping bad, pillow and let me used the bathrooms. At the end them carring made my worries go away, I did sleep in my car and I felt safe next morning wake up use the bathroom and went back on the road as highway open back at 7 I just think that this gesture says a lot about this place.
Very good location - we were able to make it to the sunrise on the lake easily! Good central location if going between Banff and Icefields Parkway. The staff were very nice and accommodating. Breakfast was hot and a treat after a morning hike!
Only downside was that the rooms were quite old and had a smell. The smell was easily resolved with opening the windows though. Despite this, would stay again!
The Mountaineer Lodge was an awesome place for our family during our trip in the Mountains. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and there were many amenities. The check-in clerk was friendly and fast. Would recommend this place to future travelers.
The room was not very clean and the breakfast was disappointing - but that is the least of their issues. We were denied access to certain amenities due to the Managers personal bias and they violated the guidelines for the exemption program for Covid. False advertising AND awful service.
The bathroom had not been cleaned well.there were tiny hairs all over the sink like someone had just shaved. Also lots of hair on the shower walls. The room was noisy and the sheets were very cheap and uncomfortable. We did not sleep well. The policies on hot tub use changed with each front desk staff change which was confusing. The complimentary breakfast was the worst I've ever had at a hotel.the egg muffin sandwich and hash browns were freezer burned and microwaved rendering them inedible. The only plus side to this hotel us it's location in proximity to the lake and other Banff attractions.
Stayed here a few weeks ago.really enjoyed the staff at the front desk. They knew their stuff and were SO nice and friendly. Great price and their beds were comfy as heck too. The ONLY reason for 4 stars is that the breakfast sandwiches they serve with the complimentary breakfast cannot be passable for food.
Perfect hotel when skiing in Lake Louise. Having the bus pick you up right from the front door is so convenient. The staff was very helpful, we particularly appreciated Margot's great customer service skills. Our room was large and modern with two queen beds (very comfortable). I read a few other reviews saying the rooms were dated; that was certainly not the case here. I believe those people chose the lower rate rooms in the main building. I recommend spending the extra $20 per night and getting a room in the new building. Breakfast was included which was very convenient. We got yoghurts, muffins, and breakfast sandwiches. My only suggestion to the hotel is to keep the English muffins frozen prior to preparation and if possible, please get a commercial hot holding unit to keep the English muffins warm and slightly moist. We also loved the hot tub for post skiing relaxation. Overall, the Mountaineer lodge is a great hotel.
Friendly service. Allowed late checkout, although very busy. We stayed in the remodeled rooms and they are really well done. Take-out breakfast was as expected for this type of breakfast - perhaps after Covid regulations it will be served in person. Lovely spot close to skiing.
I am staying here in a couple of weeks, and I called to modify the reservation and Barrie was extremely helpful! They clearly cared about making our stay comfortable and I really appreciated the great service they provided.
Very dirty bathrooms, as an advice please clean it properly.it doest take too long just to put bleach and remove all the dirt. It was pretty hard for me to take a shower. Pillows were also dirty.in this times of covid cleaning should be the priority but this please doest take it serious.
Decent room for the pricing! You don't really get a view just a bunch of trees. The shower pressure is very high and you aren't able to stand in the shower for long it definitely needs to be adjusted. 1 thing that was great was the breakfast in the morning with lots to choose from and eat!
Awesome get away for the wife and I awesome views the staff was extremely friendly during check in and throughout our stay. We stayed in room 37 around back it was clean and up to date I’d definitely return
The hotel in general was decent. The staff was great and accommodating. We really liked the breakfast provided in the morning and how they handled doing breakfast with covid restrictions. The room however was mediocre. Under the beds were not very clean but the rest felt ok.
When I walked into the room, It looked pretty good. I turned on the TV to sign in to my Netflix account, but there was nothing. The TV was so old that it just channels on it. After that, we got out of the hotel for a couple hours. We came from dinner and I was about to shower when I noticed an underwair under the sink! When I went to bed, I noticed that there were like a thousand layers on the bed! It was so annoying getting the beds set up but then I saw yellowish green stains on the bed. The only ok part about our experience at mountaineer lodge was the breakfast. Other than that I don't recommend staying here.
Straightforward rooms and reasonable prices. But my shoutout goes to the breakfast staff and service. Great variety of breakfast products and enthusiastic service with a genuine smile. How often do you leave a place and think I absolutely have to write a review?
Small room for a decent price. Good thing is its near Lake Moraine so many people get up early to watch the sunrise. Complimentary breakfast included when you come back.
Called front desk for a can opener or something to open a can, the person at the desk said we dont have one.come on really you dont have a can opener in a hotel. No food tonight because all the restaraunts are closed and this dude is to lazy to do walk to the kitchen to open up the droor and grab a can opener.
This place is super cute/stylish and the room I stayed in was recently renovated and appeared exactly as shown in photos on the website, but even looked better in person. Although I didn’t bring my dog, there are dog friendly rooms and the room I stayed in even had a cute little dog bowl! Continental breakfast offered more options than I expected (had breakfast sandwiches too!) and was very-covid safe. Would definitely stay here again.
It does the trick for a place to "try" and sleep while skiing at Lake Louise for the weekend. I say "try" to sleep because the noise in this place is terrible. You can hear everything above and beside you in this motel, and the noise does not stop at any hour of the night. The staff are awesome, very nice people. It's a dated motel and you get what you pay for. I think this is a 2 out of 5 review but an extra star for proximity to the hill.
I booked two rooms for my family months in advance and requested that our rooms are next to each other. However, the rooms were on different side of the building. When we asked for different rooms we were dismissedPlease do not stay here until they fixthe pipe or whatever it is thats knocking all night causing me to not sleep. Its HORRIBLE. I'm here right now and its the worstnight I've had in a while.
When we first arrived in the room, there was popcorn on the floor. This was concerning as it was clear that the hotel cleaning team was not taking the hygiene and cleanliness standards seriously, especially during COVID-19.
When we tried to go to sleep later in the evening, we could hear loud noises above our room. Every few minutes we would hear the noises followed by loud bangs. Due to this, neither of us could sleep. We called the front desk around 3am to notify the Lodge of the situation, where they informed us that the plumbing had recently been renovated and directed us to speak to a manager in the morning.
The next morning when checking out, we again stated the issue and explained how we were not able to sleep due to the mechanical issues. However, the staff member totally disregarded our concern, stating that we had already paid online and that we could leave the Lodge immediately. Since we had already paid, the staff did not care about our issues.
We will not be returning to the Mountaineer Lodge.
The staff at this hotel were very lovely so I cannot complain about them and this review does not reflect them. With that being said, i gave this hotel a 1-star rating because our stay was absolutely terrible. We had a sleepless night due to the fact that our furnace was broken. When we first arrived, our room was very warm so we turned the heat down a bit. The whole night until we went to sleep the room was a normal temperature and then randomly at 11pm we woke up FREEZING. It felt like we were sleeping outside in the -25 degree weather. We were fully shivering uncontrollably and could not sleep at all. We tried fidgeting with the furnace, tuning it up, down and just moving it around hoping to hear the furnace turn on - which it never did. To top it all off, the blankets were paper thin and hardly kept us warm. We got to the point where we were wearing three layers of clothes each just to stay warm BUT STILL WERE SHIVERING. I cannot type in words how cold we were. The maintenance workers were not in until 8am and could not take a look at our thermostat until then, this obviously didn't help us because we were waking up at 7 to eat breakfast and go skiing. When we checked out, we asked the front desk for a discount because of this. They offered a 10% discount which did not suffice for the sleepless freezing cold night we had. Our $130 room now costed us $117 dollars and hypothermia, great! Lastly, our much anticipated ski day was ruined because of this: (we were so exhausted from not sleeping we could hardly keep our eyes open and ended up leaving the hill at 1pm. On the way home we had to physically pull over and rest our eyes we were so sleepy. Overall, our weekend was quite terrible thanks to this freezing cold room and a night of full body shivers and hypothermia. If you are staying at this hotel check that your furnace works before the maintenance workers leave for the day! You do not want to sleep in the temperature of room that we had to sleep in. Or even better, just don't stay here at all.
Very good option to stay a few nights. Free parking, free breakfast and wifi. Close to Lake Louise and shops. Would stay again. Covid precautions in place.
The wifi was fast, so great. The sounds from the fridge were really loud at night, and the trains who passed right next to your window were long, and deafening, so I disliked that a lot, as you can imagine. The beds were fine, altough the spread was kinda thin, so a little cold. If you had a room upstairs you had to drag your suitcases all the way up the stairs, which is tiring after a long drive. I wouldn't go here again, but it's an okay place to stop by if there's nothing else close by.
Every piece of advertisement about this place is a lie.
It is in dire need of remodeling. The owners appear to have zero knowledge about running a hotel. It a dump. Stay away.
As much as they charge, both buildings could be completely gutted and redone in less than five years. And that's exactly what I would have done if it were mine.
Stay away! Its nasty. No elevator, wood rot, old crank Windows, some weird drain in the middle of the bathroom, no AC, useless front desk people, atrocious breakfast cafeteria that seemed worse than any middle or high school anywhere on the planet.
On 2nd thought, maybe book it just to see how truly bad it is. But we will not be returning.
