Nando's Edmonton Gateway

This location on gateway must be managed by incompetent ppl. I waited almost an hour for my order. Most of the staff were lining up bagging food and none seem to tend tables.
Finally the food came but not all of it. They didn't even seem to know and asked me what I had ordered.

I rarely give reviews and VERY rarely give bad reviews, the manager on this location is EXTREMELY RUDE, at the beginning of our sitting she came and said they ran out of a certain item and it would take more time to make it, I asked her if it was not available and she looked at me and said “look how busy the restaurant is”, she offered a replacement and I accepted it without a problem. While bringing the first order for the table, we asked if we should go pick up empty plates from somewhere, her response was “I only have two hands, I can’t bring you plates along with with your food”, the whole table was shocked, why did she say it like that, we literally thought we would pick up the plates from somewhere and just asked! She was so mad serving us, Then at the end of the dinner she was so mad that I asked for a bag for my takeout, she called me “rude”, I waited a bit then called her to the side, I asked her if she was ok, she said she was nervous cuz the restaurant was busy, even one of her staff said the same, we had a conversation and she was calming down, I asked her to apologize for calling me rude, she then said she believed asking for a bag was rude cuz she was trying to sort another order (in her mind) and she just left. I understand sometimes the restaurant business can be stressful but that does not give you the right to take it out on a customer and start calling out names, I like Nando’s and I don’t think I’ll stop eating it, but you will lose business out of this particular person, as a business owner myself, I can guarantee you I won’t be the last person to complain about this manager, even her own staff said “she was saying customers were rude today”, that’s what the chef said to me.

Came here tonight and the service was great. We ordered wings but they were going to be a wait so they brought us something else in the meanwhile. Very nice of them. Food was great and not too expensive for 5 people.

Normally I love this place. I order online often. This is the first time I went in person and I was unfortunately served raw chicken. I told the worker and the worker said “you have to ask the cooks to cook your chicken well done. ” I was absolutely stunned. The server went to get another piece of chicken i will not be eating. I felt I was left uncompensated with no apology for the serious error they made.

This place is so bad. Staff is so bad and make customer wait for longer hours. Even if they are short staff they can turn off deliveries and assist guests however they are continue everything and make wait everybody for like half an hour to hour. So disrespectful for other time.

Nobody cares about the wrong order on the table. I ordered vegan bowl, and got chicken one on the table, i told them this was not my order. At the moment, i realised that i should check my receipt too, cause i can clearly see price difference on the menu that was right infront of me. So, I ran to the front desk and told the girl that just happened by the table. Instead of getting it solved, I got strange reactions from the back staff. They were so ready to judge without even knowing the whole incident. In short, did not got the refund for difference and welcomed customer service, wasted my food and tip money. Yes, they replaced the bowl to vegan but for the price of chicken bowl lol which was higher the price which i do not care, as long as they should be giving quality service which i did not see at all. Just got the disappointment and spoiled mood for the rest of my day.

Came here for date night. Called prior to arriving to confirm there is a table available. Lady on the phone sounded rude and not happy to help us out. We arrive at the restaurant and we are seated at a big family table. Between other family members. So we asked to switch our tables. The atmosphere in the restaurant was overall not inviting, The employees were not smiling, I went to place my order and the manager was not happy in general looked tired and not friendly. Our food was ready to be served, a server looked at us looked at our food and just went away! The manager then served our food. But nobody came to ask if the food was okay. It was just a bad experience in terms of customer service overall. Food was okay but not the best. 2 stars only for the food. Will not come back.

Quality of this restaurant has gone bad over the past few weeks. My family loves Nandos and go twice or thrice in a month. During my last visit, they were short on tissue papers and sauces. How can you run a restaurant without sauces. Hot sauce was not available and we did not enjoy the meal. A visit before this incident, pop machine was broken and we had to buy extra drinks which was disappointing! Sad to see that standard of the restaurant is deteriorating!: (

Absolutely terrible! I ordered for pickup and when I came home I saw that the chicken was completely BURNT & DRY! I called the store and was told I can drive all the way back for chicken. Lol unbelievable, stay away

Very delicious grilled chicken. I love their Xtra hot Peri-Peri sauce. Also, try grilled corn and Seasoned peri-peri vegetables.

I used to really enjoy eating this locations food, not anymore. The last 2 times I’ve ordered from here the chicken was charred and overcooked, I was just a little disappointed though. This time it was basically the same except a couple hairs where in my chicken and a sizeable one in my rice. Disgusting. I wouldn’t suggest eating here.

A Caribbean ambience. Feels like I’m in a tiki bar. What struck me most was their hand washing station. Definitely water and soap are way better than a hand sanitizer. Food wise, the chicken is juicy. You could taste the marinade at a reasonable price. Grilled chicken haven.

Me and my2 freinds went their for dine-in.first we have to wait 15 minutes at the entrance then the manager shows up we said one of our freind didn’t have a mask, the manager saidwe don’t have extra mask.but she let our freind in, but when we went to order at the counter the lady again said we will not serve you.we even request for an extra mask BUT surprisingly NANDO’s doesn’t have extra mask for customer

Great Nando's experience, food came to the table hot and Nando's delicious from a very friendly waitress

I had Nandos for the first time today and was really blown away by this restaurant! The food was delicious and the staff were super friendly and professional. The food was absolutely delicious and very affordable - I paid $21 for the meal shown below, not bad for a upper end chain restaurant.

Great food, quick service. We ordered on our way there and the food was ready by the time we got to the restaurant (10-15 min drive).

Well as a South African I'm a little bias when it comes to chicken, it has to be on the braai and spicy, so jou can't beat Nando's for that.

Nandos is always so tasty. Chicken fresh and peri peri fries crispy and delicious with peri dip. Highly recommended.

Extremely disappointed in the quality and quantity of the food. I placed the order over the phone and it was correctly read back to me. We ordered a meal for 4 (full chicken with garlic bread and 2 large sizes) with an extra side- spent $55. We weren't given the extra basting sauce on our chicken and also didn't get the basting sauce on the side. We had to go back in and ask for extra sauce- they only gave us 2 tiny cups for a full chicken. The portion sizes of their "large" sides are enough for 2 people max. The boxes weren't even full- this is a complete rip off. We paid lots of money to feed a family of 4, just to get boxes of food that are 2/3 full and not even enjoyable. The coleslaw is watery and tasteless, the mash potatoes tasted like instant potatoes and the fries were limp, unseasoned and cold. The chicken was dry as it didn't have the extra sauce and tasted like it hadn't been marinated. So many others have complained about the small portion sizes as well- shouldn't Nandos care about their loyal customers who are trying to support them during the pandemic? Are we supposed to be content that there's only enough food for 2 but enough napkins and ketchup for 6 people? It's insulting. Wish we could get our money back. We will not be ordering from Nandos again.

Paid almost 20 dollars for a caesar salad and chicken. The serving size is about a handful of lettuce and a third of a chicken breast. Pathetic. Went and ordered more food from another restaurant after, shame.

Went for lunch here yesterday and it’s the second time we have been disappointed. It’s to bad it’s going downhill as it was one of our favourite places to go eat.
One of the visits my wrap chicken was so dry I almost choked.
On the next visit the sauces had totally changed temps and no one told us when ordering but when asked this is what I was told. Payed extra for Brussel sprouts and they were served cold and lastly the corn we normally love but it was horrible.

One of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant. I know that it is not a typical service restaurant, in the sense that you pay first and get the food after. Regardless, the servers should at least be polite towards the customers. Me and my family went there this weekend and our host seemed annoyed at any question we asked. We loved the food but this person ruined the whole experience for us. I'm not the kind of person to complain but this place needs to hire better employees.

The food was great and the hospitality was best. I thank the team for their nice and welcoming attitude.

The drink in my order was missing. We ordered this wrap and there was more of the wrap then the toppings inside. Salad looks good thats why i gave these 2 stars. But There was no cutlery in the order and I am at a workplace where there is no access of cutlery and now I am sitting here thinking how I am suppose to eat my salad. Please do provide cutlery with your orders.

If you are craving chicken. This is your spot! Food is cooked perfectly and made to match your plait. Everything you order you can choose the spice level. My favourite feature is the pop machine that has over 1000 different flavour combos!

Ordered take-out today. Lady on the phone repeated order correctly. Went to go pick up order and half way home realize that we were missing a part of our order (wing roulette). I looked on the receipt and saw that it wasn’t included on the receipt even though the lady repeated our order, which included the wings. Decided to let it be. Came home to find the chicken skewers extremely dry, hard and stuck to the stick, while half of our chicken was not cooked through with blood dripping on our dish. Not impressed. I’ve had nando’s in the past and this is not up to par with quality.

Friendly staff. Reasonably fast service. Tasty chicken and good sides. Garlic bread is to die for. Coleslaw is really good as well.

Food was great, however it was the busies Nando in town. If you do not want to wait. Best to go to the other 2 outlet.

Wonderful dining experience as usual. One of the friendliest restaurant staff in edmonton. Fast and excellent service. Great food quality and quantity and amazing prices. Highly recommend and will be coming back.

Not really much to say that people don't already know. Delicious food and the pop machine is top notch even when I come here without much of an appetite, I always come out satisfied.

Disappointing size of a quarter chicken. It's flavorful yet not the kind that I'd specifically remember.

Just pay attention to your takeout orders. You may end up missing half of it and you'll have to come back to pick up the rest as these folks won't deliver it to you. The worst Nandos experience ever!
Update: I decided to give this crew a chance and come back next day for another takeout. I counted the boxes upon receiving the bag and all matched. Later on I discovered that they gave me a Caesar salad instead of Casa I ordered. I don't think I'll be coming back.

Placed a large take-out order last night (family pack) and Through skip the dish app and The chickens were so cold when we received it and smell so bad!
I threw the whole pack to garbage and placed another order from Boston Pizza!
It's honestly pathetic and if you want to order for a party, I'd never recommend them. Don't use them for catering or larger groups for take-out.

Best quality cooked chicken. Flamed and grilled can't ask for a better way healthy satisfying plus unique.

I work for a company and we've ordered from here several times, most of them being very poor experiences. Orders are placed for about 6-8 people. We make special notes to have them labeled so food isn't mixed up, and this company couldn't care less. They also mess up the drink orders. When I called the manager, he blamed it on Skip The Dishes who don't even pack the items! I would like to mention that we order several times a week from other companies/skip the dishes and it's never a problem. It's honestly pathetic and if you own a company, I'd never recommend them. Don't use them for catering or larger groups for take-out.

The chicken is second to none, the restuarant has a great atomsphere and the service is pleasant. The meal prices are fair.

Nando's was a really cool spot to get any kind of spiced chicken at. Decently priced and cooked right there in front of the whole place.

Would recommend for anyone in one of those moods where they want to to spice up their Friday night because another night at Ricky's might just end your marriage.

I would DEFINITELY recommend this place if you're in the mood to feast with good friends.

The overall flow of the restaurant is interesting because it's very much dependant on the customer. You have to go up and order food from the counter, they give you cup to go fill your own custom pop. It was a nice deviation from the typical experience of a restaurant.

Odered a Large Rice, we received a small box with five T-Spoon of rice. Cross checked again, it was small box of spiced rice but charged us large box of rice. Charged us CAD 6.95. (Ref#00000067) The quantity was very very low. We felt cheated. You cant hardly take it as Large Box of Rice. I took the pictures too, We are planning to complain to the Nado's HQ too. In the mad rush of the orders people get cheated.
The service was unacceptable. The bearer was attending three persons at a time. Every one is kept in hold for a minute, then a new bearer continues the order. Hence we have to dictate everything from the begining. This Nando's is a miserable experience. We had eaten from Nado's in Malaysia, Singapore and USA, never experienced such a poorly managed, unorganised and unclean environment in any Nando's

This time we ordered the food through SkipTheDishes from this restaurant on Saturday, August 11, around 7 pm.
It seemed the order was cooked and packed by some untrained staff as the "hot" chicken was not hot and the "medium" wasn't medium (as if it was not basted properly). The portion sizes of 2 sides of spice rice were less than half the portion itself. On top of that, there were no condiments/Peri Peri sauces packed with the order to make it medium or hot.

It was a different experience the way you place your order, but once we got the hang of it it worked well. The food was really tastey. We would go back for sure. But hope you like chicken as that is the only protein there. It is really good chicken though.

I really enjoy the food here, although a little above average pricing. There is really no ambience or customer care, but the food is good.

Nando’s is great. But for the Gateway location, I want to specify.sometimes their tables aren’t clean. When asked a server to clean it, she ignored it and never came to do the job.

I love Nando's and normally have great experiences there, but the other day I ordered takeout and waited for over half an hour to get my food. Everyone around me was getting theirs very quickly and I was most frustrated when I got my food and no one even apologised for how long it took.

It won't stop me from going back, but I was disappointed.

The attitude of the manager is not good @ Gateway branch please read all the previous reviews for rude comments for this branch and I have a bad experience.

1 star for the dried chicken.
5 star for the server
0 star for the Manager duty on June 17.

Food is great. But they should really work on the cleanliness of the place. Tables are sticky and the furniture is old. They have used clear tape to fix the ripped seats. Probably takeout next time.

My family and I went to this location on Thursday, the 28th of June. It was quite crowded at that time, so we asked the lady there what the wait time was. She had told us that it was for 20 minutes. Since there was no space to wait by the door and there were two people ahead of us, I told the lady that we would be waiting in the car for the time being. She agreed and told me to get my number down so she could call me to notify me to come inside. We waited more than 30 minutes, and I saw that the two people ahead us and the three groups behind us were accommodated. I entered again and asked the lady about what was going on. She said that she had totally forgotten to call us! I gave her my number and she had still forgotten to do so, making us wait longer than she had told us when we first checked in with the restaurant. I had expected hospitality from this well-known Nando’s, but we were not accommodated and treated as guests well there. I do not recommend going to this location.
