National Transmission

My daughter had a breakdown in her vehicle late on a Friday night. Fortunately, she was able to get it to a parking lot where it could be safely left and over the weekend I did some research on where to take it. I finally landed on National Transmission at 4701 Macleod Tr because it was only about 20 blocks away and more importantly they have great ratings and customer stories. I had the vehicle towed on Sunday and made sure, in advance that there was a spot to drop it by the tow truck. The tow truck driver was fantastic and fast to arrive but that is another review for AMA. I was able to leave the vehicle safely and dropped the key with a note into the dropbox. By about 815 on Monday morning, I had a phone call to get clarification on what was wrong and had a good talk with Dan to explain what I thought the situation may be. He and his staff jumped on it right away, and explained the needed repairs by mid morning, and literally by 1 o'clock in the afternoon it was ready to go. Came in a little bit under the estimate and I was braced for what could potentially have been a very expensive transmission job. I was relieved, I suppose, to learn that it was a CV axle instead. Still not cheap but fast quality work from what I can tell and incredibly great service and I believe the price was fair. While they were at it they flushed and replaced transmission fluid which was overdue (I knew it). All work was pre-approved and agreed upon. There were no surprises.

I would highly recommend them and will be going back.

Oh.and the tow truck driver said he uses them for his personal vehicles too after I told him where we were taking my disabled car. That made me extra comfortable with my choice.

Good service, good communication, friendly staff that are experts in transmission repairs. Transmissions are expensive to repair everywhere, National give a solid repair with warranty for your investment. Quick turn around for transmission rebuilds. Highly recommended.

HIGHLY recommend this place. My transmission light came on so I drove it to Canadian Tire as I was nearby. They were unable to help and referred me to National Transmission. I dropped it off this morning (Friday) as I was worried about driving it around too much and was told that they would do their best to get a look at it on Monday. Not only did they get it looked at by lunch time FRIDAY, they took the time in their very busy schedule to look up the issue with my car and give me all the information needed to take to Ford to get it fixed for free. Dan was very lucky I didn't jump through the little cubby hole to kiss him on the cheek! I was waiting for a 3-5,000 quote and all ready to call cash for cars to take it off my hands, instead I go the the best service and price possible! You have my undying gratitude and I will refer anyone who will listen!

Edited review: Troy (the owner) was very helpful in regards to changing my transmission fluid for my civic. He cares greatly about his customers and has amazing customer service.

When I bought my 2017, F150, it came with a maintenance package so I always went to the dealer for the maintenance. Recently they gave me an estimate for servicing all of the fluids and replacing the brakes. I talked with Troy at National Transmission and they were able to save me a lot of money, they even replaced my pads and rotors with OEM parts for less than the dealer wanted. Transmission shops rely on their reviews which is why I wanted to share my experience and positive outcome. My volkswagen Jetta 2016 had a transmission issue. It was a major job as many codes were coming up in the computer. It was a very long and iterative process to correct all the problems (a more complex job than most). Dan at National Transmission kept me apprised of what they found and what next steps they would have to take. Dan and his team continued to look for solutions to solve the problems and get me back on the road. In the end to bill was the same as originally quoted. For sure they did not make any money on my job with the many extra hours and components they committed over and above the original quote They have certainly gained my trust and accolades. They deserve all of those 5 stars!

You are miracle workers! We had great doubts that the 5 Speed Standard Transmission on our European 1989 1.6L Diesel VW Westfalia could be repaired. You got all the necessary parts, some from Europe and did it. Now the shifting of gears is smooth and easy, without any transmission leaks. As this vehicle is very precious to us, we couldn't be any happier. Thank you so very much for such an outstanding job.

My husband took our vehicle to get the transmission repaired here. We knew it was going to cost a pretty penny and we were not happy about having to get this done. When my husband called in at first to inquire, Dan helped him out. He told us it was going to cost our first born child. He definitely made a great first impression and we were more than happy to give up our first born in order to get the car repaired. (Just kidding!) overall good experience. Turn around time wasn’t too long, happy it was just done correctly.

My husbands TL will live a happy life for more years to come.
