I had the sweetest gesture from one of the servers here. My date fell through at the last minute, and and rather than let me leave disappointed and hungry, Courtney bought me one of their amazing Mac and Cheese to go! Thank you for your kindness you sweet thing!

I order every now and then from this company the food is wonderful and the service even better! Having a severe allergy I called to ensure I would be okay and then couldn't put comments on the delivery service I was using. When I called back to give the heads up, the gentleman helping me, was already on it and had notified the kitchen! Nothing like service with a little TLC! Thanks Northern Chicken for serving quality food and service!

A Finger-Lickin' Delight at Northern Chicken!

Honestly the best fried chicken in Edmonton. Seoul Fried Chicken, who? This place kicks the pants off of them.

Service was on point! Courtney and Mitch were super chill and very attentive.

Music and atmosphere is awesome. Seriously if you havent been here you gotta go.

If you've ever wanted to experience torture without the actual waterboarding, go down to Northern Chicken and try the WNFA chicken. My nose was running, my eyes were watering, and my mouth was on fire for about an hour, no amount of water or milk would stop the pain. AND the fun didn't stop there. My stomach had this burning/ uncomfortable feeling for 2 days and I had about 2 days of.umm spicy fun coming out the other end.

100% recommended. This is for real spicy food Lovers! By far the hottest thing I've ever tasted, its no Joke.

Best chicken in town and the friendliest staff to boot. The gentleman who helped us had the best nails, too. Haters get rekt.

One of my most favourite local & independent restaurants/pubs. I love their food and drinks. The staff is awesome. Their announcements on Instagram are timely and helpful - know when to order and what to order - specials etc. Plus their integrity as a business is notably appreciated.

Waaay Over hyped! Mac and cheese looked like it was packed in the cup a week ago, and chicken was nothing special to demand the arm and leg they charge for it. The guy behind the counter was nice and is the only reason this isn't a 1star

Had the mini sandwich and even I found the sandwich to be filling. Great chicken and coleslaw all around. Highly will return again!

We had the chicken sandwiches and they might be the best we've ever had, and the smashed potatoes were amazing. Also highly recommend the cornbread.

The Chicken and sides are consistently amazing. The Chicken sandwich is next level great, like it is not even comparable to fast food offerings.

We ordered form them tonight and was greatly disappointed. We have ordered and gone there at least a dozen or more times. Today for the second time in recent times our beans were under cooked, and to top it off there were TWO long dark hairs found in our food! Also the coleslaw was soooooo brown. I called them and got put through to the manager. She apologized about the beans but the slaw is fresh it's just a new recipe not the
dill close slaw any more. So I gave it a bit and it is NOT good. Northern chicken said they couldn't do anything for me as we ordered through DoorDash. I know policy is policy but we have been loyal customers there for years and didn't feel taken care of. At least DoorDash was great but it still felt strange getting the refund through them as it was not a service issue it was the product. Sadly we will not be returning to this once favourite spot. (at least for a long time but may have to crumble because the chicken is sooooo good)

Went last night to northern chicken from the south side (because I’ve always thought highly of it) we got there just about 10: 30pm (hours were till 11 so didn’t think it’d be a big deal)

Was 3 of us ordering, and before our order we were told the chicken would take 25 mins and was even offered that other restaurants would be faster! Almost like they didn’t want to serve us, my order was I think $35 approx and my buddies was $40 and while we waited the “25 minutes “ which actually turned out to be about 12 (more than reasonable)
When we were about to be served 2 other men pulled up on bikes to order (at 10: 42 approx) and the employees already closed up and told the 2 men that they forgot to update the new hours because of covid so meaning the establishment closes at 10: 40, when there’s still money that could be made, but seems money isn’t good an hour before closing,

Juicy chicken and perfectly crispy, yet creamy smashed potatoes!

Beware of the spicy chicken in you have seggsy time after. Your partner might get a spicy or spicy. 10/10 would recommend

I love this place! Have had a few birthdays and even my Bachelorette dinner here. Can't get enough of the fried chicken sandwiches and dorito Mac and cheese but everything is great here! Love the decor and music too. Staff is wonderful

The chicken is excellent and the Mac and Cheese is wonderful as well. But honestly the habanero pepper sauce they make is utterly transcendent. If you are a lover of spicy food especially fried chicken this is the best kept secret in edmonton! No one makes a sauce like this. Believe me I've looked. I will be a regular just because of this sauce. Keep up the great work!

I don't know how I heard about Northren Chicken, but everytime someone said anything about it the reviews were always glowing. Like, lighting up the world at midnight glowing. So I was intrigued. How could chicken be THAT good? Chicken is chicken, isn't it?
Well, no it isn't.
I finally had the opportunity to try this chicken tonight.

I had the 6 piece Louisiana chicken. This wasn't 6 pieces of chicken, this was basically an ENTIRE chicken. It was juicy, it was so tasty. Was it hot? Probably for a normal human, but for me it was just good flavour. I also had the cornbread and dip and THAT also blew me away. This will be the best chicken you ever eat, order with confidence!

Some of the best fried chicken in western Canada, everything on the menu is spectacular. Can't miss with these guys! Huge part of the awesome food scene on 124th st.and great people to boot.

It is very expensive, and the extra hot is not hot at all. The quality of the chicken however was excellent! Potato salad was very good, coleslaw average. Really a 3.5 star rating, but I wish they dealt with Skip the Dishes over Uber Eats. But that is a different review not to do with Northern Chicken. I would order again, but I would pick it up myself over their delivery options, and maybe try the scorpion pepper because I didn't get any heat from their extra hot.

Goods things are worth the wait, and even in a heat wave the cooks still make excellent chicken. A server was being yelled at for the chicken taking too long (10 mins). She apologized but the customer kept going. After her trying to explain its a hot day and is difficult to cook chicken in a heat wave, she eventually gave him a refund and a free drink along with his meal. She handled the situation perfectly and very professionally, and still approached us with a smile afterwards. She got a well deserved tip for her service.

Love the food and people here. They really care about community and their employees and customers. The food is amazing too!

Always enjoy the incredible food from Northern Chicken! The Doritos Mac and Cheese is my all time fave!

A bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Top-tier chicken with varying degrees of spice, cornbread, Dorito Mac and Cheese, local craft beer and non-alcoholic options, with some other really interesting food choices. Worth trying out a couple of times at least.

Heard good things but the extra spicy chicken does not taste good. I will be coming back to try the regular.

Highly recommended this place if you love yourself some good old fashioned fried chicken and spice, but are looking for something different! They managed to fuse together southern comforts, gastro bar specialties, and high intensity spices, into a menu that simply hits that spot just right. There's something for everyone and it's all local fresh and ethnically sourced. Oh and 100% #pride friendly!

Complete disappointment!
Picked up food last night (right on time)
When we tried to eat it we discovered the ‘Chicken Fingers’ were inedible. Overcooked and too salty.
The chicken pieces were undercooked and bloody (took pictures but don’t want to put anybody off their Sunday brunch!) couldn’t eat any of it.
Will not be back there and if anybody asks I will let them know the dangers of salmonella!

Awesome chicken, very flavourful the mac and cheese was also really tasty. On of the few places that you don't need to add salt and pepper to the food! Will definitely be back.

** Edit** Seems to have gone down hill last couple times I've gone I've been disappointed. To bad cause I really liked it before.

Ordered last night, the chicken is always amazing. We always order the chicken, cornbread, and experiment with a spicy dipping sauce. We had the smashed potatoes for the first time and those were great too, very moist. I do wish there were a bit more veggie side options, I used to order the carrots everytime.

Ordered pickup from this place and had their chicken and mac & cheese. Their mac and cheese is good but that is nothing compared to the chicken we received. I don't really understand why I spend around $20 for bloody chicken. Almost all of the big pieces were bloody and literally inedible as I tried to microwave it but then at that point the chicken is ruined. I'm not going to know whether the chicken is edible or not until I get home and I live 30 minutes away from this place so the people that work here should really learn how to cook chicken so it's not bloody and pink. Now I'm at home with a mac and cheese, raw chicken and my money down the drain.

Ordered for pick up, waited expected hot & fresh.got Dry refried crusty chicken, bland coleslaw, containers half full. Ordered chicken strips too, cold and dry, missing 3 sides, for 6 orders, never again

Hot flavour chicken is best in the city I would say. I had tried WNFA last month it wasn’t good but this time I tried Hot flavor chicken it was umm so delicious. I am changing my review negative to positive.

Food is incredible and the staff are amazing! The best fried chicken you can imagine. Just the greatest! It’s a shame that they’re being subjected to a troll attack with lying reviews.

My husband ordered the food. I had never heard of this place, so I wasn't sure what to expect.
My husband ordered me a hot chicken tender, and himself an order of extra hot and original. I figured there would be a few each, but there was one very large chicken tender. The original and hot were good, they tasted yummy. Extra hot was too hot. We ordered my son a chicken sandwich and Mac and cheese. The sandwich was great! Sweet pickles are a great added touch! Didn't wow me, but also not disappointing, might go in person for the atmosphere.

We need more places like this. The owners pride themselves on treating their staff with respect, and standing up for the LGBTQ community.

I always order the mustard fried chicken and it's been aces every time (the dill potato salad and Dorito mac and cheese are also amazing). Highly recommended.
