Brought my new to me 1974 Norton Commando 850 into the Old Motorcycle Shop for some LOVE. My initial contact was Phil, who was exceptionally knowledgeable/professional and answered all my MANY questions. Second up was Mike Becker who, in my opinion, was THE nicest/most professional person I have ever dealt with. Mike contacted me on a regular basis, informed me of the systemic process pertaining to ongoing repairs, took time to answer any questions and explained everything that was done and why.
Upon conclusion of servicing, Mike contacted me and again described what was all done, price and even arranged delivery in an enclosed trailer (delivered by Nathan who was awesome).
The work done to the Norton was precise and made a substantial difference to its operational effectiveness. These bikes are “needy” and a little finicky and would trust NO one else to touch it.
Thank you SO much for the care/attention you have shown. Will see you again in the future for some recommended follow up work.

I went for some parts that I couldn’t find anywhere else and when they didn’t have anything officially on there eBay they gave me free reign of parts they have pulled off other bike and were super understanding and trustworthy when dealing with me. They were very helpful and I would love to use them for all my projects.

While driving through Calgary from BC back to Ontario I needed a rear tire to be found for my PC800 and installation of a front tire that I had with me from my cross Canada tour. The good folks at the Old Motorcycle Shop took me in right away, found me a rare rear tire and installed both front and back on the same day while making me feel At Home while I was 3500 km away from home. During the installation they all said hello to me and asked me about my bike and my trip so far. This place is truly Above and Beyond the regular repair shops. I honestly can't say enough about the fine folks that are a part of the Old Motorcycle Shop team. From the owner to Jim the service manager and the mechanics themselves.all top notch people. Also I had many vintage motorcycles to view while they were working on my bike. Check them out if you live in the Calgary area or are passing through. Thank you Old Motorcycle Shop.

The best shop and people ever! We were traveling back to Texas from Alaska and needed tires mounted, when they found out that we were on the road they took us right in and mounted our tires. We were back on the road in no time at all, definitely recommend them! Had a great time drinking coffee, eating biscuits and laughing at the whistle pissers while we waited! Big thanks Phil and his crew!
06 August 2023 2:28
Went there to get an OPI and it was completed within 1.5 hours, awesome service, will definitely use them again if I get the chance
27 June 2023 17:56
Great people! Bought a few Goldwing parts from them now. Super friendly and willing to help! My go to shop from now on:)
04 June 2023 2:19
Great resource for parts.

I need to make a custom choke cable and they were able to provide me with the parts I needed that seemed to be difficult to find anywhere else locally.
29 May 2023 11:18
I love this place. It is really an old motorcycle shop. The staff is knowlegeable, friendly, and helpful. I get the feeling more like they are there to help as opposed only to making the buck. Twice I was there for something minor like an adjustment issue with my throttle and another for a muffler clamp. I got what I needed and wasnt charged a penny either time and I have not spent a lot of money there. Many restoration projects in waiting and you never know what you will find. There are 30 or 40 buildable old bikes in various states of assembly right in the middle of the shop. Some are possibly rare. Walk through them, see what they have. They dont mind. Between the customers bikes and sales inventory it can take you back in time. Phil will talk about bikes too and he knows his stuff. But then, he is an old biker.lol.but not as old as me.
13 May 2023 11:14
A bunch of scam artists, I’ll give it to these guys they’re good. They’ll give you a wicked quote, extremely nice, will then joke around with you. But then you have to call them to find out when your bike is ready, and then you remember that awesome quote they gave you? Yea we’ll add an extra 150$ and well just say it was shop materials. Will never be going back here again. The best advice I can give to someone wanting to get bike work done, go almost anywhere else.
05 April 2023 22:55
Great resource for used motorcycle parts!

I needed some obscure carburetors for an old three cylinder Yamaha. They had lots of used carbs available and I was able to get some caburetors on my bike. At a reasonable price I might add.

Very pleased, I’ll definitely be back and support this local business
21 March 2023 20:31
This has the be the nicest group of people to deal with. They went above and beyond to get me fixed up quickly.
This is my go to shop for anything my bike needs to keep it running like new.
09 December 2022 0:01
Always helpful, always friendly and nearly always have what I need. Thank you for running a first class shop.
05 December 2022 1:49
Use this company if you want your bike STOLEN!

1982 Suzuki GS 850 23000 km.
Bike was picked up and delivered to their shop.
Called a technician to get the bike running and replace some items that needed replacing. He asked how much to spend. I said not much more than 3000 as it was older and I just wanted it running well so I could pass it down to the grandson it was to be given to.
So clean carbs, tune engine, change fluids, new tires and brakes, replace starter switch with factory one they found a old one at a wreckers, new battery reupholster seat and replace rear right signal house again they found one a a wreckers. So they started work and over and over i called and they said they are waiting for parts so I left it alone and called in the spring still waiting for parts. I asked for a statement with all parts and labour to this date did not and still have not received one. What I received was a reply that I owed 11000 dollars. I asked "why" that I could buy a new bike for that price. This company charged me for storage fees to store my bike while they were repairing it.

We of course shared words i called again they said that it went to court for damages of 11000 dollars, list of parts less than a thousand labour the same and storage fees of 9000. Of course they went to court without contacting me.

Yes you went to court but why?

Great mechanics and staff at OMS. Truly committed to their craft, excellent customer service and integrity.
16 November 2022 8:45
I live outside the city and came in for a wheel balance before I ride to Mexico and beyond - quick inspection later and I had a separate job booked in. They made a fabulous effort to call around and try and get the part needed to get the job done that day. Wasn't possible.
Fast forward two weeks, I rode back into town with zero notice, they had the part and were working on the bike before I was out the door.
So far I can't speak for their work as I'm sitting at the bar waiting to drive back to Canmore but based on my experience in the shop amd speaking with each worker they seem to be honest and diligent.

Very friendly and seemingly very knowledgeable,

10/10 would recommend this shopto anyone.
19 October 2022 11:23
I went in looking for some BSP fittings for my 1935 Velocette and, although the parts I needed were unavailable, the young woman I talked to, unfortunately I do not know her name, was very helpful and enthusiastic and suggested another business that ultimately did have a solution. I was very impressed with her knowledge and her desire to help me out.
11 October 2022 14:48
I took my 1983 CB1100 in and the guys took great care of me and my bike I'm vary happy with the service and help from the team thanks to them I'm riding happy this year
22 September 2022 4:28
After speaking with every single motorcycle mechanic in Calgary this one was the most pleasant to speak with on the phone and the most helpful. Very friendly upon arrival and very quick and professional. Have to recommend over everyone else after such a positive first impression.
21 September 2022 19:57
6 stars. 5 for the team up front and in back.and a 6th star for Lauren who has brought my faith back in customer service.

Arriving from Ontario on two sub standard tires and prepping for my road trip up to the Yukon, the team at Old Motorcycle Shop took the worry of searching for, picking and hoping for the correct choice of motorcycle repair shops to get the job done correctly and affordably.
Cheersch to the entire team at Old Motorcycle Shop from
Darren, Ontario motorcyclist.
20 September 2022 2:45
Did a complete work over and inspection. Lauren was great and knowledgeable at the counter and the techs got my bike running like factory.
Couldn't be happier with the service and results.
Would and will in the future recommend these guys and girls to anyone!
Mitch,
MMI Maintenance.
18 September 2022 23:55
The guys at OMS went above and beyond helping me find my first bike and ensuring it was good to go for my first ride. Thanks Phil, and team! Great experience every time dealing with this shop. You guys rock!
06 September 2022 0:19
The BEST by far! I was referred to them by a friend, and now they are the only place I'll take my bike to. Fred is an amazing Tech, and he genuinely loves my bike (Buell XB12R). Whenever it needs work, I request him to do it, and the quality of work is always excellent. The staff is awesome to deal with, definitely the best service experiences I've ever had in any dealership or shop. Do yourself and your bike a favour, go see them.
27 August 2022 4:37
Way over priced, & rude. They charged me 500$ just to tell me basically what I allready knew, I even gave them direction to what was wrong with the bike just needed a second opinion. Should have been a 1 hr diagnostic max! All they did was take the bike apart did some electrical testing and put it back together Will never do business with these guys again.
Be prepared to pay alot for nothing.
04 July 2022 12:22
I just wanted one part replaced to get my bike up and running which I knew for a fact would get it going & they wanted to replace the whole entire system which would cost 5x as much (ofcourse) & refused to do what I asked. Also charged way to much and insulted me insinuating that I know nothing about bikes & how to work on them. Dont bother with these guys. Try >MIKES BIKES!
03 July 2022 8:54
Phil the owner has patience and took time to help us find the part for my 1983 Honda Shadow 500, the ladies at the counter are extremely friendly, we will come back for sure for any future needs. Thanks everyone.
03 July 2022 0:00
Very helpfull and very friendly.
A most useful destination for any motorcycle owner, with older machines.
22 June 2022 11:53
Been here a few times 1 time I came in for a used part waited probably 15 min as the staff looked at pictures and another 20min for them to find the part they were selling. Second time I came down was helped right away waited q5min for them to find the part but they ended up not being able to find it.
06 May 2022 6:40
Always a great place to get the parts I need for my project bikes. Everyone there seems to enjoy being there and are more than happy to help look through old parts diagrams with you to make sure you get the right stuff. Glad a shop like this is nearby as its saved me numerous times to get my bike going again. Will defenatly keep going back.
21 April 2022 19:47
My visit at the
Old Bike Shop was great they always fine a way or a solution to take care of any problem im having.

14 March 2022 1:56
I like these guys even recommended them lots, but the British guy didn't know what wheel bearings are. Was kinda shocked. Needed my bearing greased/ replaced he says "I don't quite know what you mean". Like whaaat!? !
14 December 2021 7:30
Called this shop after being recommended them by a friend. Was looking for some information on potential repairs, as I do not know much about motorcycles. Gentleman I spoke with was both rude and condescending. Will be taking my business elsewhere.
18 November 2021 12:18
Brought my moped their way over priced didn’t do what I asked and tried to tell me to fix it it would cost me 1200
11 November 2021 4:14
Shipping worldwide, big warehouse, most of the part and service with high quality equipment and professional crew, my bike is always taken a good care
01 November 2021 4:28
Called Dealer (s), and after phone tag not returned, one said that they could remove a link from a chain that I had ordered online - in about 2 weeks. Went to Old Motorcycle Shop. They were just as busy a the dealers I assume, but they fixed my chain while I waited. I was in and out in maybe 20 mins. That is the old school way of doing things. Plus the place is like a museum of cool bikes. Respect.
Next time - not ordering online parts. Lost way too many summer riding days messing around. Getting parts and job done by these guys. Top shelf outfit and will be supporting local.
31 October 2021 17:29
After being told that my motorcycle was unsafe to ride on (damaged front wheel bearings and bushings) by a large Calgary dealership, I decided to get a second opinion from Old Motorcycle Shop. They took me in immediately and took the time to dismantle and show me exactly the condition of my bike. Confirming my suspicion that all was well with the bearings they balanced the front wheel and assured me that it was safe to ride.
Thanks very much!
22 October 2021 17:16
Amazing service! Thomas went out of his way to help me fix my motorcycle. Highly recommend this place. Extremely satisfied with the friendly staff and awesome service.
21 October 2021 21:15
I broke the bolt that holds my clutch lever on and was having a hard time finding one in Calgary so I came here! They let me look through bins of old clutches and bolts that they have and after some time of being loud and probably annoying I ended up finding one that worked! Then when I went up to pay for it they just let me have it no charge! Thank you so much it was great to ride again!
11 September 2021 23:40
They got a wide variety of new and used motorbike parts, very fair on there pricing and very helpful staff.
20 August 2021 16:19
My tires were worn out while i was travelling through. They took me in right away and fixed me up i was back on the road in no time. I cannot thank the guys at old motorcycle shop enough. A great bunch of people who are true motorcycle enthusiasts i would definitely recommend you bring your motorcycle here for your repairs and service!
15 August 2021 15:46
I've been trying to hunt down some parts for an old bike. I heard about these guys and got a great referral from a friend. When calling in to the reception the phone was picked up quickly both times but I was not made to feel like my questions and business were valuable. The answer was just go on the ebay store.

I ended up driving to the shop to see if I could get a bit more help as the ebay store was giving me some trouble. The staff were friendly and tried to be helpful. They had one of the two parts I needed. They didn't have the stator which is what I REALLY needed. They had the voltage regulator but were asking $20 more than a brand new part.the connector was totally shattered.

Weird.

My experience is limited with this shop and I would go back in the future. They had a great collection of reasonably priced used bikes.but first impression was about a 2 star one.
30 July 2021 18:44
By far the best ever service I have ever had in all my life! I thought a had a very serious problem with my gearbox, but Jeff and his wonderful team helped me promptly, explained that my problem was well less severe than I thought and solve it "on the spot", for a fraction of the cost I was afraid I'd have! Well done boys!
27 July 2021 8:03
Purchased a bike, washed it on the way home and after detailing it in my garage it would not start. These guys drove their truck with the trailer to my house 30 minutes before closing to haul it back to rectify the issue. Got a phone call well after shop hours that I must have accidentally disconnected a clutch mechanism, but they would go over the bike again to make sure it was safe to ride. ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY BY THE PASSION, PROFESSIONALISM, UNEQUIVOCAL INTEGRITY, FAIRNESS AND FRIENDLINESS DISPLAYED BY THE TEAM. THIS IS A RARE BREED OF A SHOP. Thanks, OMS!
18 July 2021 19:14
Great guys, always helping me out. Best prices and they know everything about every bike possible. Just hands down best motorcycle shop in Calgary.
12 July 2021 13:49
I was blown away by the customer service. Not only did they stay open late to accommodate me, Phil fixed a cam lock gas cap for me with parts he either took from old caps, or machined. He saved me a lot of $$ to buy the part from Yamaha. Nick spent the time to discuss a sissy bar build for my bike. Great guys. I will definitely be back, and I will send as many people there, who will listen. Thanks again fellas.
18 June 2021 7:19
These guys have helped get me out of a bind on a number of occasions, and I exclusively take Lois here for her check-ups. Rates are reasonable and the staff are helpful and good-natured. Highly recommended, especially for owners of older bikes.
18 June 2021 4:51
Contrary to what others may have felt/feel about this shop, I really like it. I bought a CB750f just under a month ago, after which I only rode it for a few days until the carbs got clogged up from rust. I took it in and they cleaned the carbs and gas tank for me free of charge! I've been riding it almost every day since with no problems. I've had great advice from the guys there, they all seemed very friendly and the shop atmosphere feels very warm on most days.

Of course, not every company is perfect and I'd say one of the cons about the shop is how crowded it may be at times. You'll have people coming in for service, multiple bikes in the shop being worked on - on top of customer's bikes coming in, and to top that all off there are a ton of bikes for sale outside and inside the shop. I guess that all comes with being one of the few old motorcycle shops in the city.

I believe they go off of a first come first serve basis, so for those expecting to make an appointment don't bother. (Unless it's a big job, it's best to let them know ahead of time)

All in all I like the shop and it's exciting to see where they'll go in the future, I hope they continue to improve.
08 June 2021 6:50
I had a motorcycle test last Friday at noon and my signal lights stopped working the day before my test, anyways the next morning of my test I called them up and told them my situation, they told me to come down and they would help me out. After troubleshooting this electrical problem for a while the owner offered me his motorcycle to use for my exam which was I am ever so grateful for. I used his bike and passed my exam also when I got back my bike was waiting outside for my ready to go. Awesome staff and service. I would recommend them to anyone who needs work on their bikes! Cheers!
29 May 2021 12:14
Had some electrical flickering on a 2004 super bike after it in the shop over 2 weeks and $1700 bill and was only a battery and a relay switch, as well talking to the guy who worked on my bike had to UTUBE the problem! And a year later my back tail light is flickering now! What he told me I thought they were professionals but I was very wrong, as well all they have in shop is older bikes they told me my bike gave problem due to it being a newer bike with sensors, guess there not professional for a tire change I'm sure that's what there best at, I will never go there again!
20 May 2021 4:05
These guys are the best shop around super nice extremely helpful they do the best job and they know what to do and how to do it If you need a bike shop go here these are the guys for the job u won't regret it thanks a bunch guy especially phill
03 May 2021 3:49
They have and are able to get many old motorcycle parts and are fair in prices that they charge. Excullent service and helpful repair advice from all their staff.
03 April 2020 1:37
Had a quick visit on days off from the north, and was very impressed by the genuine courtesy offered by all there. Super cool collection of rides, some being worked on, others for sale. I'll return some day. Guess they do a lot on Ebay as well. Thanks guys.
16 March 2020 3:53
Super friendly staff and pup. I had a popped tire and they got me back on the road ASAP. Thanks guys!
03 March 2020 6:19
I've had motorcycles all my life and I have to say this is one of the most helpful shop I've ever had dealings with
09 November 2019 7:33
This ship owner knows his Sh.t. Here's an excellent Motorcycle Technician who is very thorough and precise with everything he does.
28 October 2019 13:01
Didn't fix or replace issues that were very important. Only would have taken them 2 minutes to straighten my wheel and tighten the belt. Instead did work that wasn't as necessary. Asked me to come back and spend more money on it. They do a good job and fast. But happy to exploit you. 5 stars if your rich and don't care about money at all.
27 October 2019 23:43
They have a vast knowledge on locating parts for vintage motorcycles and a very helpful and friendly staff
16 October 2019 17:01
The boys are working on restoring a 1987 RM 125 the guys at the old motorcycle shop are awesome most people try to scam you up there these guys do good work when you get what you pay for nothing's free Mike's got a great crew working for him Phil runs a great shop Brandon Pete horgi Nicholas Fred they're all great guys and I'll be dealing with them from here on for my motorcycle and my son's needs great job guys I'll post some pictures when I get the bike cleaned up sorry if I forgot anybody but you're all great
11 October 2019 0:42
Excellent job on my Stateline!
I didn't expect to get it back the same day. Was all done within two hours. Was good still had a ride to take me back to get it. Installed new brake pads, oils and coolant. Thet even changed drive shaft oil. Dropped off after 4 pm, finished by 6 pm! Thank you!
05 October 2019 14:07
Classic new buyer beware. Got a 650cc bike ($3500) that they said was 'lightly dropped in a parking lot' and 'fully repaired', but as it turns out it was a write off and had poorly repaired components-can't lock it, and mirrors installed backwards so the wind pushes them down, battery cover pretty much flew off. If you know what you're doing it's probably fine to go here but it's a Frankenstein deal.
29 September 2019 14:07
Took my ninja 250 to get lowered and I had nothing but great service from these guys. Their timeline for when my bike was going to be ready was spot on and they even found a crack in both my tires, which I was completely grateful for. If they didn't catch that, who knows what could have happened! Everything runs smooth and they really did a good job of lowering the bike without compromising the bike itself. Thanks for everything!
28 September 2019 5:48
This is the best motorcycle shop in Calgary hands down. Awesome service everytime no matter what budget you may have! Thanks for getting me back on the road in a hurry!
26 September 2019 11:24
Great shop, ordered lots of parts and even returned a few without question. Very knowledgeable, Thanks for the great service.
20 September 2019 17:04
This shop is TOP! I'm a traveler from the Netherlands who was just in Calgary to buy me a motorbike witch could get me to South America. I wanted to buy a motorbike from the internet and I was looking for a trustworthy shop to take the bike too afterwards. I decided to drop by Old Motorcycle Shop to have a look at the atmosphere and people and maybe get some advice because I was not from here. Phill (owner) and Tony just were really nice and gave me some good advice about types/price and market these days. Phill even took time to show me some on internet (Kajiji) and gave me tips to be aware of.
Eventually I bought a bike from the internet, witch was the totally opposite from what they advised meXD my bad. I really appreciate there profession, service and help they gave me with my 1978 Honda. They always had time for me, even though they were really busy. Phil, Tony and Pete were really nice (always coffee!) and helpful and my bike was fixed very quick every time. Even though I think they put a little to much time for labor sometimes (45 min.for changing front tire) still will certainly go back and recommend this shop to others, especially when you have a classic or chopper.
17 September 2019 1:21
Parts n parts an old cool bikes and they emergency fixed my bike in the middle of my road trip.
15 September 2019 10:21
Great place to take your bike for repairs. People are great. Super selection of old, rare and beautifully restored bikes for sale
12 September 2019 15:05
Great service! I came by for new tires while riding through on a road trip, they arranged tires in a couple of hours. They offered me the option to take off the wheels myself to save a few dollars on a tight budget and even let me use one of their lifts in the shop to do this! Highly recommended, motorcycle shops like these deserve to survive.
31 August 2019 13:57
To celebrate 20 years owning my vintage '83, I brought it in to your shop pretty much asking for an open ended full diagnostic (other than the requested exhaust pipe & rear wheel replacement. Not only did the bike come back sooner than expected but well under estimated cost. ***That kind of honesty is hard to find***
~ high 5 Salute & hope you all enjoy the added Timmy's card I left to recognize your professionalism ~
07 August 2019 17:07
Had an out of province done on a bike I recently bought and with no appointment they had it done within an hour while I ate lunch. Also just an awesome shop with a lot to look at. Lots of old bikes and new ones. Awesome layout with the front desk basically inside the actual workshop area. You don't see shops like this anymore. Great experience.
30 July 2019 10:41
It's a busy shop, but the guys there will still help you out and fit you in where they can. Great service, nice open shop, and some interesting bikes to look at while you wait
16 July 2019 20:33
Bought a bike from them late last year, a Triumph Trophy 1200. Told me they needed to go through the bike to make sure it was good. They said they did and told me they needed to do some carb work to make the bike right. I had to pay an extra 250 to get this done, and was assured by the front desk guy the bike was "ready to ride across the country"
Shortly after buying the bike it started to act up. I have since found out that the carbs were not done, they changed the spark plugs but 3 out of the four plug wires were broken and would not stay on the plug, they didn't put an air filter in the bike, and there were several hose clamps missing, along with the vacuum lines to the carbs not hooked up properly. It has cost me a lot of time and money to get this bike right so that it doesn't leave me on the side of the highway again. BUYER BEWARE, these guys were not at all upfront in their dealings with me, and in fact outright lied and misrepresented the condition of the bike. I will never do business with them again.
03 July 2019 7:18
Blow the clutch within 4 hours of riding The mechanics that replace it at another shop said it was on its last legs for some reason it should have been changed before the sale of the bike not to happy.be careful people
