Optiks International (South Edmonton Common)

Yesterday afternoon I came in hoping to get my first pair of glasses as an adult. I had ZERO idea what would suit my face and how glasses should fit properly. Kim spent nearly an hour and a half with me; shopping around and offering her opinions and expertise, which were very welcomed. She helped me find the perfect pair of glasses and sunglasses after hearing exactly what I was looking for. She took the time at the end to price out everything in detail and explain the different lenses offered. Kim went above and beyond for me from start to finish and made this experience not overwhelming for me. This store is so lucky to have her!

Had a very unpleasant experience with the store manager named Michelle. Spoke to her on the phone before going into the store, and was advised by her to bring my photo ID to the store to confirm my purchase and authorize it (which had been paid by mother). On the phone she stated my family is “dishonest” simply due to a change of plans. Hearing this from the store manager was simply absurd. You would expect a store manager to provide better customer etiquette that was shown.

Once dealing with Michelle at the counter I asked her why she had stated that on the phone and was repeatedly told “how can I help you? ” in a very disturbed manner. Moving on, she asked me to confirm security questions on file which I confirmed, and provided my photo ID. I then simply asked “what brand are these glasses? ” as my mother had purchased them for me and I love brands so was just a curious question. I was then appalled by the response…

The response was “how come you know nothing about this purchase? ! ” and was giving me serious attitude at this point. Just a FYI, we are returning customers and this is my third pair of glasses being purchased at this location and the first two times I showed my ID and I was out (same process from steps to A-Z). I simply still stayed calm and responded “my mother purchased these for me as you know so I was wondering. ” Michelle then claimed I’m doing insurance fraud and then demanded me to leave or she will call store security. After explaining I’m not doing fraud I had to leave as she was calling security. Overwhelmed by the treatment, I asked for her boss’s information and she said “I am the manager, I am the boss! ”. I told her I would find out who her boss is anyways and exited the store.

I then contacted the store manager at the mayfield common optiks location who was extremely helpful in the situation! She provided me with great customer service and provided me with the regional managers contact info rather than saying “I’m the boss! ”. If you’re a minority be prepared for special treatment when entering this south location or simply take your business to the mayfield location.

If you do happen to visit this location deal with Kim, not the store manager as she seems to be miserable working there. I will be following up with the regional manger because never ever have I received such bad customer service from a company.

Came in there a few weeks back to get some glasses. Kim was an excellent help in dealing with me, my wife who got a little emotional, and our little guy who was squirming and bored through most of the visit.
Very happy with the service, and the glasses as well!

David was amazing nothing too much bother. He picked a tray full of frames he thought I might like. Kim took time to get my prescription correct. She was a great help ordering lens and frames. 2 gorgeous pairs of glasses I will definitely go back again. Thank you David and Kim you made this a lovely experience.

Huge thanks to both Kim and David who helped me out today. David walked and chatted with me the entire time I picked out different glasses, gave me his honest opinions and made some really great recommendations.
Kim was so great to work with while getting through the insurance and payment portion. She was such a vibe, super helpful and informative as well. I can't say that I've ever had a better experience getting glasses. I didn't at any point feel like they were just telling me I looked good to make a sale. I recently ordered two new pairs of glasses at this location. I was extremely satisfied with the assistance I received in choosing the frames. Marnie gave opinions when requested and made the whole experience a pleasure. It can be difficult to choose frames when you are very nearsighted and cannot see what the frames look like on your face so having honest, capable help makes the process much easier. Thank-you.

Visited these guys to change out my scratched ray ban lenses & did it on the spot in no time! Very impressed & will be back if myself or family need some sort of optics

I took two eye glasses with broken legs I bought from another store to enter the Optiks International and see if can get repair, I met Elisa, she spent times to fix two broken legs and free for charge, I was so impressed for her work and customs service attitude. I definitely suggest this store to my friends.

I've been going to Dr. Moon and getting my glasses at Optiks International in South Edmonton Common for the last 8 years. Dr. Moon is a wonderful optometrist and the service to pick out and get my glasses is always very friendly and super helpful. Thanks for the assistance Marnie!

I was at optiks international located at south common, and I got to meet bella as an optician. She was very knowledgeable. Answered all my questions and helped me out by adjusting my new dental magnification Loupes.

After visiting several Edmonton and area stores looking for frames, I went to Optiks International in South Edmonton Common and was immediately welcomed by Megan G. After explaining what type of frame I was looking for, Megan went to work and provided me with a variety of frames to try on. More importantly, she provided me with technical advice, i.e. Sizing, styles, etc.and was very honest about which frames looked best on me and which didn't. She clearly explained the Company's discounts available and once I had selected a couple of pairs for consideration, provided me with the comparative costs to go along with my prescription. Megan's skill and professionalism shone through which made this whole experience very enjoyable. Clearly, she didn't just try to sell me frames, she helped me purchase them. Additionally, the South Edmonton Common store has a extensive array of eyeglasses and sunglasses to chose from so it will be my go to location when I next have to upgrade my prescription.

Got help from Sammi Reiter, she was an absolute delight to talk to. Made for an excellent experience left there smiling and very happy!

I had an awesome experience at this store. I’m a little self conscious and Sammi and Bella made me feel welcome and at ease. They were friendly, knowledgeable and made sure that not only did I have a pair of frames that I really liked, but that I also understood what I would be dealing with switching my lenses to progressives. I will definitely be back again and I will definitely be recommending this store to my friends and family.

Haley was the best! Sincerely a sweet person who was so patient with my 3 year old son looking and trying on glasses. She made sure we received the best bang for our buck and our son is so happy with them! It was because she made the experience so lovely that our little guy is content to be wearing glasses

I had an amazing experience with Megan. She was so patient, thorough, and she gave me the space to look and discover on my own. She wasn't hounding me to make a sale. She knew exactly when to check in and she provided wonderful advice and feedback. And she has a wonderful sense of humour. It's a shame that I'll have to wait another 2 years to get a new pair of glasses (thanks benefits:).

The process from beginning to end (from choosing glasses, having the paperwork filled out, and finalizing the purchase) takes a long time.
We have been coming to Optiks International for years and have been assisted by many staff members. However, one staff member stands out among them all as the friendliest, kindest, funniest and most full of energy.that is Kim (who turns out is new). She is awesome. Myself, my 11-year-old son and my 18 year old son just loved her. She made the process more than bearable. Thanks Kim!

I would give zero stars if I could. No help at all but yet the ladies working there instead had time to talk and laugh with each other while the other one was texting on her phone. I was hoping to get warranty on my new glasses that broke. But I would rather get a new pair from a business that helps its customers and wants business. Not impressed at all and will not spend a dime with this company. Customer service is a -1

Kim was so personable, honest and funny. She made glasses shopping fun and she really seems to know her stuff. My husband is transitioning to progressives and struggles with the idea on many levels. He's also hard to fit glasses for due to a small noggin and being hard on glasses at work. She answered all his questions, drew pictures, showed examples, crunched numbers and even answered the many many repeated questions with grace. We'd love to see Kim every time we shop here!

Matt, Kim & Michelle were truly so amazing for my first new pair of glasses in years. They also helped my partner get safety glasses and a new set of glasses for less than the cost of his single previous pair. Can't recommend coming here highly enough, truly enjoyed our experience, and will be back for all our optical needs.

Dr. Shamil Nagji was absolutely incredible. He found an ulcer in my eye and was nice enough to write down instructions for the drops he prescribed. The receptionist was lovely and I can’t say enough about how sweet, helpful, and knowledgeable Dr. Nagji was.

Marnie helped me pick out glasses a couple years ago and I sought her out again when my prescription recently changed, as she is so comfortable and fun to work with. Marnie won’t let you go home until you’re completely satisfied with the style, comfort and fit of your new frames. Marnie’s amazing and I would highly recommend her and the South Common store.

My eye glass buying experience was the best I have ever had in my life, and I have been buying glasses for 25 years. Marnie found me trying on glasses and really helped me find the best fit and style for me and my face. She listened to what I liked and disliked about the frames and found me the best ones that looked great and at the price point I wanted. Just stepped out of Optiks International and the staff were delightful! They went above and beyond to help my wife and I select a pair of glasses. Additionally, they helped with adjustments and answered all of our questions. They have monthly sales and discounts. I would highly recommend shopping here for your next set of glasses! The experience of buying glasses is usually time consuming I find, but going to Optiks International and having Marnie assist me with my decisions and guiding me was fantastic. I recently purchased new glasses/lenses at this location. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. When I received the New frames and lenses they were nice but not exactly what I expected. Fortunately, Rob went the extra mile to ensure I was satisfied and made the changes and modifications to my lenses and frames that were necessary and suited me best. I would highly recommend this location if you are looking to buy new frames or lenses.

Had great service from Samantha Ostrov, licensed optician at South common and the Mayfield location. Very patient and tries very hard to meet my optical needs. Very informative and knowledgeable! It was a pleasure having her help me. I feel reassured that I will get the best set of glasses with Samantha 's help.

I went in for a eye exam which was a great experience on its own. I ended up staying to do some shopping for some new frames. The one on one shopping experience is actually way more efficient then doing so on your own. I had both pairs picked out within the hour. Marnie was a awesome guide, wealth of knowledge and made the whole experience really enjoyable. I highly recommend this location.

I have a pair of Silhouettes and the arm broke off. Being progressives they wouldn't sit straight and it affected my eye sight. I went in to see if they could order a new arm for me. Sammi was helpful but refered me to see Rob to fix them. He wasn't in that day. I made an appt for two days later. Rob was great, he replaced both my arms and fixed the bridge for free. I couldn't believe it! Thank you very much Optiks international! I'll be back.

At the South Common location today, Sammi assisted me with my eye glasses.selections. She was extremely knowledgeable. Site with excellent selection of frames. Good deal with a second frame.

Marnie was our sales associate today at Optiks and she was great! Extremely personable, helpful, fantastic phone etiquette, and great at explaining the options of their promo. She found a set of frames my fiancé liked quickly, and she was patient with us both as he tried on multiple pairs multiple times. The store is so spacious and clean, and you can see how diligent they are with covid protocols. It was easy to call and make an appointment with both Optiks and Dr. Moon the optometrist on site as they could transfer us from one side to the other. Thanks again Marnie, we look forward to receiving his new glasses x2 in a few weeks!

Second time getting my eye exam by Dr. Moon her and her team are outstanding! Very sweet and helpful they go above and beyond to make you happy!
Marnie helped me pick out 2 amazing frames, she has great taste and listened to exactly what my preference was, wasn't pushy, very fun and relaxed atmosphere, 10 out of 10 in my books. Always highly recommend checking out Optiks!
