I usually like original Joe's, so I was surprised that I didn't enjoy anything about the experience this time. We went in later than usual, but still a full hour and a half before they closed. Steaks and calamari were overcooked. Had to get up and go get my waitress everytime I needed anything even though she was standing 12 feet away the whole time. Would not look at us nor check on us. Overall worst experience I've ever had at an Original Joe's. Bad enough that i will likely never go back to one.
We were here on a Saturday for brunch; there were very few people in the restaurant but it gradually filled up over the next hour. Our server was very pleasant, informative and efficient, and we ordered the Joe's Breakfast and the Classic Eggs Benny. Both were excellent, as was the coffee. Prices are reasonable and the restaurant is well laid out, spacious and comfortable.
This is my favourite local bar. I visit frequently. Always good food. Great atmosphere and excellent staff. Specially Katie who knows clients by name and remembers their favourite orders. She provides genuine recommendations and always a good, well educated conversation.
Overall it's another OJ's. It's never bad but it's never really amazing either. The food was good and the service was good as well. I just think the place is way too dark. I mean I get why you might want to have a bar-like ambiance or something but I would suggest that you add some more lights, even string lights would be a fun addition. Anything to liven the place up a bit, just a thought.
I came in on Friday night and sat at the bar top and was served my Tiara. The service was amazing, drinks recommendations were top tier, and overall had an awesome night with the help of Tiara!
This spot is our go to! The staff is always so friendly and welcoming. The patio in the summer is so cute with all the lights. If you haven't tried the dill dip - you need to! Everything on the menu is so good!
This was one of our favorite spots to grab a quick lunch or dinner. Wine Thursdays was a frequent event. And even the brunch was fantastic. BUT we have noticed the quality of food declining over the last couple years to the point that we don't go there or order from them anymore. For example, the last few times we ordered take-out the fries were so overdone they were too crispy to eat (and I like crispy fries), the amount of dill dip/other sauces in each container was maybe a 1/4" and not enough to dress a tiny salad or dip into, no bacon bits in the Caesar salad, and only 3 chicken fingers in a meal that used to have 5. I know inflation/food prices are up over the years but as the prices have come up the food quality has still gone down. We have ordered take-out (not Uber or skip, but directly from them) a bunch of times in the last year and we're now so disappointed that we will not be ordering again. This is a shame for a place we used to frequent so regularly.
Have online ordered multiple times from this location, and every single time they miss something.
New mom here just wanted to have some hot food only for my husband to get home to see they forgot my meal all together.
The manager, I believe he said his name was Dan, said he could not refund me? And said I could come back and get my food. Like no. Then he offered an online gift card to my email, which I never received.
Calgary is booming with amazing restaurants, save your time, money, and hungry tummy's and go elsewhere.
We arrived the same time as another table. Their server was great, took their order promptly, they had their food and a wonderful dinner. Our server could not have been less interested in our table, took forever to come get our order, didn’t bring water, never checked on us, etc. Then our order was buried under a pile of Skip the Dishes orders so the other table was literally done eating before our food had even arrived. The manager then came over and was very condescending about how the order (super simple - a burger, quesadilla, and kids grilled cheese) “only” took 35 minutes, neglecting the fact that the server took about 25 minutes to take our order. Bad service, and they apparently prioritize online orders over people who actually come and sit in their restaurant.
Most items are great, the chicken teriyaki stir fry is delicious, there are loads of vegie's in it and they are nice and crunchy, not too much sauce either which is good. The breakfast is awful though, uncooked soggy toast and half my egg was missing. Generally good for a mid week don't feel like cooking tonight meal.
After a terrible experience at another Original Joe’s location, we came here directly after due to us being very hungry. We immediately had our drink and food orders taken, and had the best customer service given by Taylor! Definitely coming back here!
Caesar and veggies and dip, chicken fingers and fries and for an appetizer
The happy hour dry ribs
The ribs were way over cooked and could only eat about half of them without having a mouthful of burnt residue. The chicken fingers had a bit too much breading, the Caesar salad was a bit small
Swing by for a lunch with the kids. Brussel Spouts were awesome! The lettuce wraps were ok, the romaine lettuce leafs were on the smaller side, but the mix was delicious. Gyoza’s my son ate all off them, he said they were the best. My daughter had the poutine, she didn’t care much for the gravy, said it had a hint of chocolate that she didn’t care for.
Washroom clean Parking isn’t the greatest Super friendly waitress Good music and atmosphere
Ordered from this location via skip. Ordered the crispy buffalo chicken wrap and quesadilla with fries. There was no crispy chicken buffalo style in the wrap. It had cold pieces of chicken breast with no buffalo or hot sauce at all. It was completely soggy and not at all what We were expecting from what was described on the menu. Fries were cold, dry/stale.
Food was good, however we were told to seat ourselves when we arrived and so we sat on the patio but were there for a while before a server noticed us/ brought us waters. We had to go inside and ask someone to take our order before someone realized we hadn’t been helped
Food preparation low, quality of ingredients low, service is amateur missing the basics (Napkins, coaster, cutlery set etc). As a example, I waited over 10 minutes for my cutlery set which was then handed to me on my way to the bathroom (not even on my from the bathroom).
Nice spot with decent service. I’ve dined in and ordered take out from this spot and there’s always some consistent quality food and service. There’s also a sidewalk patio which is great on a summer day to enjoy some cold drinks.
Kid friendly? !? Not really. No change table. No highchairs. I had to walk 2 blocks back to my car (because this location only has 4 parking spots) to change my daughters diaper. I’ve been to other Original Joe’s locations in Calgary & they have change tables! I couldn’t believe it. Not cool. When I asked the waitress.she didn’t offer an explanation or apology, she just said “no we don’t have one”
The food was great! Original Joe’s never disappoints when it comes to great food
A lovely experience with very good food. Freya was our server and she was so kind and exhibited all the qualities a top of the line server would have. She was friendly, quick, responsive and energetic. (She totally deserves a raise) we ordered the quesadilla and fries, the dill dip is out of this world. Highly recommend!
Wooow not going back there. Ambience "music" is heavy metal on and on, food okay.no training on service. Nope not atipicak Mardaloop charming pub or restaurant. This has nothing to be there. Won't come back.
Middle of july after the pandemic.run of the mill Tuesday 5pm or so. SPECTACULAR DINING EXPERIENCE. Seated right next to the door by the washrooms (not always ideal) for my mom whose getting older and not moving so good. My 13 year old son had supper too. Sanitizing practices were on point, and they brought me real, legit salt and pepper (ya.shakers) when I asked. It was wing night table did 40 wings /ace burger /onion rings/ ace burger poutine/ long beach fish tacos, all beautiful presentation, prepared well and served hot. The server asked at what point we wanted each dish cuz the order was pretty confusing, but seriously. Just right. Friendly comfortable and delicious. AWESOME.
Our neighbourhood restaurant was closed for dine in so we went here after hearing about their food. Maybe not a bad place for drinks, but found the food to be pricy for what they offer. Ordered a burger and found the burger to be less flavorful than many other burgers I've tried. For $18 dollars for a burger, I expected it to be a top notch, but was dissappointed by the quality of the bun and the patty itself.
Bought a bowl of soup to go. Got a cup. Asked if they were sure this was a bowl as it was the size of their coffee cups and was confirmed that it is. Very poor portions. The soup was delicious.
Service was excellent! Beers were cold and fresh. We ordered chicken wings because it was wings night. They were hot and fresh and very flavorful. My favorite Original Joe's location is this Marda Loop location.
This is one of the better OJs in the city, in my opinion. Never too busy or loud, great patio, friendly service.
It's a little bit dark and yellow lit, like an old 70s basement, and attracts a few jerks occasionally (you're not that guy that keeps parking in the bike lane and trying to fight the traffic cop, are you?). Otherwise, it's pretty standard. Good neighborhood place to grab a beer or some food.
Love it here, nice casual atmosphere and really nice food. Happy hour is really good (3pm-6pm and then 9pm-close). You must try the poutine (pictured) the different varieties are interesting and taste so good, also the portions are huuuuuuge. It could probably do two people.
Great bar but I just find it odd that they have a pillar right at the bar with photos of. I dunno.staff? It's like looking at instagram while sitting at the bar.
Not sure who's doing their "Quality Control" checks but they're feeding people burnt food without any regard for their customers. Here's totthrowing away the food I just ordered. I'd rather stuff my mouth with cat litter.
Nice, been going for years. But EXPENSIVE! Lasagne was "teeny tiny", good flavor but fit for a gopher, cause they don't eat much. Visit, enjoy and post if you disagree that is is WAY too expensive. The gal that worked with us was exemploray - KOODOS to her.
Just received the most gastly order through Uber Eats. No gravy for my fries, no dill dip, and the fries look like they got forgotten in the fryer or the fry-bowl. It's not hard to nake fries guys! And shorting your customers is really uncool.
