We have been consistently eating there for years and the quality has been declining every visit. It is just not good anymore and It pains me to say that we won’t be going back.
This was my first time eating at Pagolac, even though I'd driven past it many times, and I was not disappointed! The coworkers I was with got their soups very quickly, and my grilled lemon chicken on rice vermicelli was shortly behind. The food was fantastic! Due to the usual use of soy sauce in marinades, the options for gluten sensitive folk are low, but the staff was very knowledgable in what contained allergens. Very good price, very good portions!
Very spacious, well designed, and clean interior from a very unassuming exterior. The large menu features an assortment of Vietnamese Chinese dishes at reasonable prices served up quickly by friendly staff. Overheard other diners and they are all repeat/regular lunch customers.
My coworkers and I had an absolutely lovely lunch today at Pagolac! Everything was delicious! I had their green onion cakes and beef & broccoli. So so good! I can't wait to go back and try another dish!
I preferred the downtown location before it closes permanently. This location isn't as good. The vermi bowl itself was ok.they use tiny bits of chopped basil instead of large delicious leaves. The sauces are hidden behind counter somewhere and you have to ask for it. Salad rolls were overly large, peanut sauce was nowhere near as good compared to downtown. The chicken cut they used seemed to have the chewy bits.meh. The green onion cakes were over cooked.
#36 is the only thing I've ordered over the 20 years of eating at Pagolac. I'm sure the other dishes are excellent, but the #36 satay is just so damn good it's impossible for me to try something different!
I hadn't been to Pagolacs in years and I think it was the 54 Ave location last time I had gone but we were in the neighborhood and swung in just after it opened on a weekend. Lots of seating, fast friendly service and a menu that was bit too long for a quick pick. I fell back on my old favorite, the combination vermicelli bowl "Grilled Pork, Spring Roll, Pork Meat Ball, & Beef "La Lop"" and it was as delicious as I remembered! So fresh and clean tasting with the fish sauce served on the side so it wasn't drenched like some of the delivery orders you get from other places. My partner had the ginger beef on rice and it was also very good. Good serving size and excellent pricing. Easy to get to and decent parking makes this a good spot for groups of any size.
Update: Enjoyed a birthday dinner with friends here and service was great. She is very helpful to suggest items and she ensured we did not over order for our group. My favourite this time was the ginger chicken with onions.
I always enjoy myself here. The food is great and I usually ask for suggestions which is very helpful for me. They ask me a few questions to help pick the correct items. We get a plate each and share between us. Always good portions.
The onion cakes are the best way to start the meal. I had war wonton soup today for the first time and really enjoyed it.
Parking is easy and atmosphere is casual and pleasant.
This is by far my favourite restaurant for Pho, they’ve been around for as long as I can remember. I started going here when their restaurant was on 97 Street. The prices are fair, the portions are very large. You’ll leave stuffed and wanting to go back very quickly.
Decent ish, nothing great. Why is pho or soup so crazy priced? It's some noodles, which is dirt cheap, very little meat usually, and then broth. I'm sure broth takes time to make, but the prices relative are obscene. I could get a bettet combo meal at McDonald's
The four of us enjoyed three appetizers and four main courses very much. All had distinct flavors and were generous. Enough to take leftovers home. Friendly service from Lorna too. Will be back.
I ordered grilled pork and spring roll on vermicelli. They put the spring roll separately to keep it crunchy which is nice. The spring roll was good but you only get one. Most places give 2. The pork was nice and thin with no fat. Nicely flavored. I think the meat could be cut into smaller pieces. I would order here again. The vermicelli noodles were nice. Thin like I like.
I’ve eaten at Pagolac since I was a child and it’s still the best Vietnamese restaurant in town! Never disappointed by their food. Pho, bun bo hue, vermicelli and rice dishes are all fantastic. Truly a gem in Edmonton!
I've tried about 15 beef sate pho's in Edmonton and this one is in the top 2 for me. It's nice that they add the beef to the broth in the bag when you pick it up so the beef is cooked fully. Very tasty.
Best Vietnamese food restaurant in the city. This is my comfort food place. Pan Fried lemongrass chicken/Beef is spectacular. The sauté beef soup is like non-other in the city. The spring rolls and salad rolls are almost a meal on their own.
Wow, this place surprised us! It looks plain and small from the outside but the inside was huge, very clean, and busy! My daughter and I each had a regular sized pho and there was enough soup to bring home. We will be back!
We regularly attend this restaurant and it is amazing! The service is great and always friendly. They have what we consider the most amazing spring rolls in the city! If you haven’t had them.do so! Lol! Anytime I have a visitor from out of town or I have a business meeting, this is my place of choice. They have 201 items on the menu and while I haven’t had everything, I have thoroughly LOVED every meal I’ve had here!
Love the OJs chain, and this location is an example of why. Really good atmosphere, with great open windows and patio. Food is great, and service to match.i only really visit Red Deer for business, and have made a point of coming here every time. A safe bet, that doesn't seem to disappoint.
We have been to both locations and find it to be the best Vietnamese food in Edmonton. The glaciers are rich and fresh and served with a pot of tea (no cost). The prices are reasonable.
The location on 97 st and 53 ave is permanently closed, which I miss a lot. This location is near the casino. It's spacious and bright. There are bums lurking around, so beware. Once I walked into the restaurant, I could the smell of stinky washroom through out the entire restaurant. Not appealing at all. I usually order the satay beef noodle soup. This beef was chewy. The quality is not as good as the other location. The springrolls were at par.
DON'T ORDER THROUGH SKIP THE DISHES! The restaurant did not confirm the order, would not pick up when called and I ended going somewhere else. Will not order from there again.
Ordered the Hu Tieu Nam Vang and it was utterly disappointing. They should take this off menu if they can't execute it properly. Quality of seafood was poor, and for $12, the dish did not reflect this price. Mainly Caucasian clientele, and you know exactly why.
The lounge never really seems full, once it was busy with a family birthday or something so we had to sit in the dinning area. The food has always been very good and the portions are bigger then what I expect! We always get the Ginger beef and sweet and sour chicken with spring rolls and salad rolls.
Recently visited the new Argyll location and took a coworker. Spoke very highly of the restaurant for their great pho and generous portions. After receiving our pho special I found the broth very very salty. And that was just passed over the meats and noodles. It wasn't like this before in the old location on 51ave. I'm willing to come back and give this another try.
Althought the restaurant was larger than the other south location, I feel this new area was missing that certain aura and character the old location had.
Love this new place! I've been to the old location and didn't think much about their food. But now it's really good. Place is much cleaner and everything is new. Prices are great and portions are really large (don't get fooled by the small bowls, they put a lot of food in there compared to other places). Bun bo hue was super good. Highly recommend this new location!
This used to be the go-to pho restaurant when it was in the other location. They have a nice selection of food to choose from. In terms of pho, they have good quality pho with nice portions at a good price (especially number 26). However, I feel that their soup is not as good now. Their pandan ice cream was another interesting item that's worth trying.but they don't seem to have it readily available anymore
Great food and good value for money. Their serving size is big so order accordingly. I usually eat a lot and always try to an appetizer and entree but the server told me just the entree should be enough and it really was. I Will definitely go there again to try more options.
Disappointed to see the south side 97 street location close/ this one has the same name but not the ambiance or apparently the same cooks? Not quite the same folks.
Great little place! The food is incredible. Service is a little slow, we had to wait a while for our water to be refilled, but other than that, fantastic.
Want a meal that is quick delicious and not a whole lot of conversation with a waitperson this is The place for introverts! It is family owned and top notch food! They are amazing!
Best pho in the city. I've been going for over a decade, and everyone there is always very kind, and offer excellent service. No other pho comes close.
First time and it was amazing. Great service from the moment we walked in. Food was fast and delicious. We always have the salad rolls to start and they put a new twist on them which was nice. As well our vermicelli bowls had hands down the best spring roll ever! We will definitely eat here again.
Absolutely wonderful meal. The food was truly incredible, some of the best food I've had in a long time. The service was great, the servers were extremely friendly and the overall atmosphere was that of a cozy and well established business. It's the kind of place where you can just tell they have been doing this for a long time, and they've been doing it well. I highly recommend Pagolac to any and all who are looking for a great meal!
Have had their vermicelli, beef cube, and ginger beef on separate occasions, all have been great. Beef cube a bit saucy but they can cut back the sauce if requested. Restaurant is clean, service is fast, lots of options on the menu.
This place is soooo good and very reasonably priced for the meal portions! The pho and vermicelli bowls are delicious and if you like deep fried wonton this place has THE BEST deep fried wonton. Spring rolls are so good too. Definitely my new fave restaurant!
Pagolac is a regular spot for dinner a couple times a month. I am always fascinated by the selection of food on the menu. I usually find myself between the 60's and the 70's in the dish #'s and it is always good. I love the onion cake and the salad rolls. The service is friendly and helpful, the space is a little date but it is a great meal for the money.
