Brand new rink and nobody there looking after it. We had to scrape the ice so we could play, what a shame.

Parkview is a nice facility but the current management of it leaves something to be desired. It took 4 months and many emails to hear back from the hall rental volunteer. At which time he informed me that the rental price had gone up 3X the pre covid price. So a valuable community dance/fitness program that has run classes in this hall since 2013, set to restart in the fall after the Covid shutdown, is ousted in August with the comment "I am sorry you feel this way. " Very poor public relations, the previous management was far superior.

Excellent community centre - good place to rent for an event. However there is a family of squirrels around here who harassed me endlessly. There I was, just eating my sack of Franks Unsalted Peanuts (in shell of course), and they were screaming at me to share.

So naturally, being a consummate gentleman, I shared with them. But this only emboldened them. I gave one a rock, which is promptly discarded, giving me a look of disgust unlike anything I have ever seen on a squirrels face before (and believe me, I've had more than a few dealings with untrustworthy rodents).

So I decided to leave the park, but the squirrels harassed me all the way to my car. I think they may be raging against me as a classism issue. Lesson be learned here, the squirrels are Parkview are socialists who will never lift a finger to help you out.

My wife and I recently used the Parkview Community League facility for our wedding ceremony and reception (single combined event.) Our wedding hosted approximately 125 guests (at 17 round tables), who fit quite comfortably inside the venue, while still leaving sufficient space for dance floor, buffet, cake and coffee, and other ancillary tables. The facility also included some options and amenities which really made it stand out above the rest.

Pros (for community hall wedding) :
• good lighting options; hall is filled with typical 2'×4' recessed fluorescent fixtures split between 4 switches, as well as recessed halogen floodlights on 3 dimmer switches, which provided a much softer and warmer light for an evening event
• large prep kitchen with large stand-up refrigerator and large stand-up fridge/freezer, including service window which made for perfect bar service
• raised stage at one end of hall, with projector, used for ceremony and presentations
• covered outdoor patio area with overhead natural gas heaters
• amazing outdoor natural gas fire pit

Cons:
• management. Our wedding had been booked for 11 months, and we were very clear that the dimmable halogen lighting was one critical deciding factor for our selection of the venue. Upon arrival at the venue, we discovered that 40% (10 of 25) of the halogen lamps were burned out, including two of three lamps over the stage. The venue management was initially resistant to taking any measures to rectify this failure, but they eventually caved and provided three lamps to replace those over the stage, however we had to get up to the 15' ceiling to replace the bulbs ourselves (due to the property managers self-professed fear of heights, despite the working platform height for lamp replacement being well below the OSHA specified 10' maximum for working platform height without fall arrest). We also had to buy a lamp to place in one corner of the room so that we could prevent a quarter of our guests from needing to eat in the dark.
• also management; despite our event having been booked for nearly a year prior, the hall was occupied for 90 minutes past our contractually agreed time of possession.

Overall:
Fantastic venue with incredible amenities, absolutely worth the effort if prospective clients possess adequate patience for dealing with inept management. Would be easy five stars if not for management.
