Completely overhauling my 1-star review because I believe in communication and righting wrongs. I previously had a review regarding 6 weeks of waiting for 2 different rings to get worked on. The problems weren’t the wait but rather the communication about wait times, arrival of different pieces, when I could pick them both up to save me a trip, the cost of the work (if you have multiple metal types on your ring it may be more expensive which the manager knew because she briefly mentioned it to me after the fact) etc… To make matters worse, their phones don’t have a voicemail and if they are busy no one picks up. I called them 34 times to get my work order cancelled and nothing. If you need to get a hold of them, call a different location to see if they can email the other location for you with your request (I live out of town so I can’t get there quickly). I’m saying this because the lovely Rebecca (assistant manager) called me to explain but also apologized profusely for me having to deal with everything and told me that because they didn’t answer and the work was completed after they said they would cancel it, it would be at no cost to me. Thanks Rebecca, your customer service is 5 stars. Only leaving 3 stars. -1 for initial horribly frustrating experience and -1 more for how the location manager stood there listening to my conversation with her employee and adding her two cents, but not acknowledging me or apologizing.

I was trying to make an online purchase, unsuccessfully. I called my local Peoples store, and Rebecca was a gem! She tried various methods to help me. The issue was an online glitch. She successfully found a device that the order would work on to allow personalization.
I came down to the store with my 3 yr old daughter. Rebecca had everything ready to go and helped to complete the order.
Then she showed my daughter the Disney Princess collection. She is such a wonderful and thoughtful person. Thank you, Rebecca, for turning my frustration into an enjoyable experience with my daughter.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced at a jewelry store. I was bringing a ring in for warranty repair and the lady was so rude and unhelpful. She denied that the engagement ring was purchased at Peoples and kept telling me my reciept didnt match my ring. We never did get it dealt with after about 45 min I finally left and went to the Kingsway location we're they helped right away. Dont waste your time going here.

Terrible experience at Southgate Peoples today in Edmonton. I had ordered a necklace and bracelet for my husband from the market mall location in Calgary and was told that the necklace will be shipped here from BC and I would get a call in 2-3 days. 2 weeks later and no call… I tried calling numerous times but they don’t pick up their phones, so I took out time and finally went in store. The lady had no idea about my necklace and kept having to “verify” me even after I showed a receipt and my ID, after she finally found my necklace and then chalked it up to “the amount of fraud lately”. I understand that fraud is a very real thing that happens with these businesses but I spent a lot of money there and to be treated that way, I really did not appreciate it. I got my rings cleaned after and she was nicer, hence the 2 stars, but as a customer I expect to be treated alot nicer than I was. Also while I was there the phone was ringing non stop and nobody bothered to answer it.

My boyfriend bought me a name necklace from there. Not even two month in and it broke. Do not by from here. Customer service sucks as well, online and in person.wasn’t helpful at all. Took them 20 min to even approach us. Will not be buying from here again.

I came into the store today to look for a Mother's day gift. I spoke to Rebecca. Rebecca has very good customer service. She was very friendly, positive and had a willingness to help. She took the time to ask me about what my mom normally wears and tried to use that information to present all of the possible options. Thanks to her, I was able to find a bracelet that I think my mom will enjoy. Thank you Rebecca!

After having a horrible experience with the People's at airport outlet location, I went to Southgate location. Tracy and her Staff pulled out all the stops and made it up to me. They really care about your experience, and did everything they could to get me what I needed, in time and fairly priced.
I really appreciate everything you did, and when I surprised my wife with a anniversary ring, that was a challenge to get, they totally made it happen. Thanks to you and your staff! Great job! I HIGHLY recommend this location.

Absolutely awful. I brought in my ring to get one claw repaired under the extra warranty we purchased. They sent the ring back to their jeweller FOUR times. Each time it came back worse than before. All claws were rewelded, sloppy and crooked. They were a yellow gold, while the ring was rose gold. They were sharp and uneven. Every time they sent it back they made it worse. The fourth time it came back scorched and scuffed. Looks like they literally spraypainted it and ruined not only the gold, but the diamonds. My beautiful engagement ring and band is ruined. Also ruined is the custom made wedding band that was sawdered to my engagement ring. It wasn't even purchased from them, but they took it upon themselves to ruin that, too. Their store manager, Tracy, keeps giving us the runaround refusing to do anything, saying they can keep sending it back to the same jeweller that already ruined my ring. Furthermore, she told me that if I take it anywhere else to fix it, she will void my warranty. Their district manager, Ashley, refuses to reach out to us, as Tracey promised. Just complete unprofessionalism, blatant lies and disregard for their numerous errors leading to a destroyed momentous piece of jewellery. I'm heart broken and shocked that they are allowed to operate like this with zero accountability or reprocussion.

Tracey helped us upgrade my old rings while custom ordering a Vera ring in my size and doing an in store return and applying my trade to repurchase my custom ring once it arrived. I went to 5 different peoples locations between Calgary and Edmonton and not one other store had a person in it that was able to accomplish this and make it happen. I truly appreciate everything she did for us and we were super grateful and super happy with our purchase there! We drove from red deer to make our purchase at this location.

I walked in for my six month ring inspection. I was not greeted or even said hi to. There was three women working. I stood there waiting for over five mins while I wandered to the Vera wang collection to find a band to match my ring. I then walked back to the counter I was standing at and still nothing said to me not even a HI. A man walked in and they immediately said hello and how can I help you. He pointed to the lady beside me said he was with her. The thought it was me and looked at me knowing they have not said one word to me. I said NOPE NOT WITH ME. I’m the only one you have failed to say one word to walking in here, never mind actually help me. Once I spoke up they were promt and quick to help me as I was not impressed. They then tried to tell the man some bull lie about why they ignored me while I heard them say it too! Pathetic and will be reaching out further for this complaint too. My husband didn’t spend thousands for me to be treated how I have more then once now. This is not uncommon and why I’ve finally said something

Absolutely terrible service.sent my ring to be repaired 2 months ago (after it was originally repaired and came back as a different ring). Was intructed to send it back along with my matching ring AND guess what? No sign of it yet.after 2 months.peoples better reimburse me for my losses!

Went to exchange a ring that I received as a birthday present but was the wrong size, I had the gift receipt with me. I went into the store as it hasn’t been 30 days since the ring was purchased and the last was super rude and just said NOPE you can’t exchange this, only can be returned and payment goes back onto the original card that it was purchased on, no explanation or other solutions offered

My mom bought me a sterling silver ring and she also bought the extended warranty from peoples for around $130 and it kept cracking in the back. Last time I took it into get fixed cause it cracked for the second time they told me it would cost $130 something to get fixed. I have the warranty so I’m not sure why it would cost that amount especially when that was the full price my mom spent on the ring. A little extra Silver to make it thicker in the back would never cost the full price of the ring. I Will never buy anything from peoples cause their warranty that you pay extra for means nothing.

BAD INVESTMENT diamonds fell out of my engagement ring 6 times. I hardly wore it and after each repair it wasnt the same ring I got back. They have a scam set up to charge for repairs unless you go in constantly and get signed checkups on your ring. Really bad experience I'm actually in tears.

(Written by my wife) I first purchased a Vera Wang ring back in July 2021 from the West Edmonton Mall location (they were also fabulous) but after a while I really started noticing the “yellow” of the center diamond. I made the decision that I was going to trade it in for the larger version, which also comes certified so I would know exactly what I was getting. I had been into the West Edmonton Mall location a few times and said hey if you get one in a G color is let me know. So after a few months I decided to call all local stores and see what they had. Mona from the Southgate Mall location was the only sales person that went out of her way to call all over Canada to find me one in a G color. She had me come in to see her manager Tracy to do the trade in as Mona was not in the next day. Both ladies were awesome to deal with. The ring came in about a week and a half later and I love it!

Went in today with my fiancé to purchase our wedding bands.
2 out of 3 employees were standing behind the counter, with no customers and couldn’t have even been bothered to greet us.
We waited by the wedding bands for at least 5 minutes without a single acknowledgement. We finally got up and left. Incredibly disappointing

A nice and convenient place to buy diamond stuffs, but some staffs are rude. A staff, Naheed, came to assist us when we were there to pick up my wife’s diamond ring on January 09,2022. She even didn’t offer us the ring container as we supposed to get that when we bought new ring. I also noticed that she was not paying any attention to us when we entered the store as she was totally free and other staffs are busy with other customers. When she was matching the certificate number of ring to optical comparator, the number was unclear. The number in the picture they provided us before was very clear, but this time we couldn’t read that properly. She even couldn’t able to read that, but keeps telling us that it is clear.
The staff, Lory, is awesome. She is the one who assisted us first time when we bought the ring. I would give her 5 stars, but this 2 stars are for Naheed.

I have read other posts about the same employee named Naheed. Terrible terrible service. We had the unfortunate experience with a employee named Naheed. She was rude, defensive and seemed to hate anyone that walked in. She definitely did not want to help anyone coming in the store. So she got her way, customer service can make or break a business, and because of this one encounter I’ll never step foot in a people’s again.

Always receive great service from here. Lori is absolutely amazing. So much so that she is the only person i will work with. No offense to the other sales people, as i have had great experiences with many in the past. But Lori goes above and beyond what i would expect not just in terms of sales, but also building a personal connection. Always a pleasure walking in to this location.

Sent my ring in for warranty check —- gave me an estimate on my smaller ring to fix some clamps and couple smaller diamonds that was quoted way more then what the ring actually costed. I have spent 20 k in this store and was very disappointed so I declined the repair NOW 7 weeks later still no ring and still no word when I am going to get it back. 7 WEEKS for a simple warranty check and still no work. Poor customer service. Would not recommend to anyone. I am starting to worry if it will even be the same ring that comes back. The lady on the phone was super rude I just want my ring back.

This location is not recommended at all when it comes to jewelry. My friend havent got the refund which should be processed within 14 day and it over 5 months. Unprofessional staff including the Manager.

Mostly annoyed that the website says the store opens at 9: 30am when it doesn't actually open until 11am. Maybe keep your hours updated during a pandemic so customers don't unnecessarily have to wait inside a building for an hour.

PEOPLES LOST my engagement ring. I wouldn’t give any stars but had to to do the review. The nightmare Started back in January 2020 when I took my ring to replace a diamond that fell out. They sent it out to be fixed and I never saw it again. I was calling in February to see if it was fixed but they said it wasn’t done. Then COVID hit and could really get any answer as to the where about of the ring till summer. The manager at the time called me and told me they lost it and I could pick out a different ring or they could make me a new one like my ring that was lost. I chose to get a new one made like my original. They assured me it would be great, better quality diamonds for the trouble and all. A jeweller from Canmore was gonna make it. It wasn’t till Dec that I got the ring back. As soon as I saw it I was disappointed and did not want to take it. The manager Tracy at Southgate told me to take the ring and if I wasn’t satisfied I could bring it back and they would make it right. Boy was that a lie! The ring I got was Nothing like my original ring. Less gold, higher setting, uneven on one side. It is a cheap replication of my ring. The weight on my original was 6.7 grams. This ring weights 5.2 grams. Who knows it the diamonds are even real. Since December 2020 I have went into the store several times called several times and still nothing has been done to rectify this situation! They tell me Ashley the regional manager will get in touch with me and she doesn’t. I really just want a my money back at this point as the service has been so horrible I would never buy another piece of jewelry from them. I really want people to be aware of this as I am so upset about this and can’t imagine anyone else having to go through this. They are a horrible company to deal with! Also I forgot to mention that I had to buy the protection plan on this ring twice as there computer system was so horrible a few years back that they couldn’t verify that I had one.

There were 5 people working in the store on Saturday 28 Nov but only one customer was allowed to came in the store. I was there just to pick up my order which I bought online. I waited for more than 1 hour in the line outside just to pick up my order. They should made a different section in the store for pick up

Well! Lost a small diamond from my engagement ring during the shut down due to covid. When Peoples opened, went down to take care of it. This was back about Aug. 18/20. Today is Oct. 23/20 so I called with no avail. 4 weeks they said in the beginning. We call and never, does someone answer the phone. My husband went in person to get an update. They said early Oct. And he asked why they dont answer the phone.too busy and it takes up too much time. Upset again. Will stop here. Southgate store

Hands down the worst customer service we have experienced in our lives. They do not value their customers at all. Do not waste your time or money at this place. My wife and I needed a small diamond replaced on a recently purchased wedding ring. They sent the ring to Ontario for the repair and gave us a return date. The ring has been in their possession for 14 straight weeks now and there isn't a single online update on it. When we ask for an update they are very rude about it and hang up on us. They claim to not have the time to deal with this. WHAT KIND OF SERVICE IS THAT? We will never shop there or recommend them ever.

If you plan on shopping at Peoples at Southgate makesure you know exactly what you want. Went in to drop off my rings for the 6 months cleaning.
While waiting for the paper work to be completed, my husband was looking at the watch section. The manager told us if we could just stay in one spot because it is too much for them to be cleaning the counters. Just outright rude.
So, in store shopping might be "open" but just makesure you keep to one section so they can avoid having to wipe down their surfaces everytime a customer comes in and leaves.
If it is too much for you to wipe down your surfaces as per public health advisory, you need to close you store. Every customer that came in sanitized their hands and had mask on. The least you can do is wipe down you counters, which we were not even touching, just hovering to look at the jewellery.
Will take my rings in for cleaning every 6 months but will no longer buy new jewellery from this place.

Zero stars is more fitting actually. My husband and I took our bands and my diamond solitaire in for its regular required service on March 12 to get them all nice and fresh for our 10year anniversary. Needless to say the Covid happened and understandably so store was shutdown. I have been quite patient till however the world is opening back up yet People’s seems to not be. Over 80% of retail stores in SouthGate mall are open and adjusted to serve their customers. NOT PEOPLES. I have tried calling the phone number provided on my service receipt and that number is out of service. I tried the online customer service and that doesn’t work. I tried calling the 1-800 number off the website and waited 57mins on hold to speak to someone who took my information and they said someone would contact me in 3-5 business days.that’s 2 weeks now. The store phone number just rings and rings no message for customers when to expect a return to business. I have an uneasy feeling this company is going out of business broke and my belongings will be held in receivership. As I think about the last 10 years of service from this store I always felt I had to suck up to the entitled clerks just to be treated kindly. Brutal.

*Update I did get a returned called with genuine care for my rings. Hopefully in the future they have a handle on how to manage through this*

Would rate the Customer service at Peoples 0 stars if possible. Horrible experience all around and their corporate customer service is the worst I've ever experienced. Rude, empty promises and are not helpful whatsoever.

Surprised that they are still in business.

Highly recommend any customer to shop elsewhere.

My husband bought me diomand bracelet on my birthday worth $2150. It was bit loose that time so the lady who was helping us told us - they can fix the size anytime even after a year without any cost. We confirmed twice about this. And they were busy that day so we thought to do it later. When we went again after few months to make the size perfect. Another lady said it would be extra $70+ and it is never free! Basically we were guided in a wrong direction by the lady who helped us initially. Whatever she promised it was not like that at all! Not happy at all, not planning to buy any single jwellery from there again in life. Very disappointed. It is not about $70 but about the fake promise and information that they provided.

Sales clerks ignored me for 10-15 minutes. Maybe they didn’t think I had money. When I picked out a $150 pair of earrings, I told them I would be back in 5 minutes. They said the pair of earrings would be there for me when I got back. I came back in 5 minutes. She acknowledged me then proceeded to sell the earrings to a older gentleman right in front of me.

Yesterday I accompanied my son to make his first serious jewelry purchase. Lori was exceptional in helping him consider options, giving very helpful feedback regarding style and design while also being sensitive to price point. She was so kind, patient and knowledgeable! She even took the time to beautifully gift wrap his purchase. Thanks to Lori our experience was outstanding and I give my highest commendation to Peoples Jewellers in Southgate, and in particular to our superb sales associate, Lori!

I went into this store to try on engagement rings with my friend, who accompanied me as my boyfriend was unavailable that day. The staff were rude and completely ignored us. It was obvious that they were helping people who entered the store after we did. We even had to flag someone down because we were waiting so long. After we waited several minutes to get assistance, a rotund lady with short blonde hair eventually came to "help" us. I already know the kind of ring that I want but I just wanted to try different styles to see if there was anything else I might love.
This lady thought it was appropriate to school me on what I was doing. She was extremely condescending (saying that I am "confusing" myself by trying on different rings) and advised me to "look online and not confuse yourself". I told her I was already aware of what I wanted and ofcourse I looked online.who doesn't these days?
I also explained what I wanted in detail and this lady did not even bother to point me in the right direction and show me rings that fit my criteria. In fact, my friend even had to cue her to do her job; which this lady failed to do miserably.
I left feeling so disrespected by my interaction with her. It is common courtesy not to be condescending and ridicule your customers just because they probably won't purchase from you that day. It almost felt like she was shooing me away so she could get back to customers she thought would be purchasing from her. Never returning here again & I would suggest that others don't either. Go to another location or another jeweller who will provide better customer service.

The switch over from Mappins to Peoples has the computer system going wonky. It has lost my info on one of my rings I to mot have ppl for anymore and also my wedding set info is gone. Thank goodness I have ppwk. Janice the manager at Southgate in Edmonton Alberta along with my favorite diamond sales lady Michel were able to comp the cost of my ring to a smaller SIZE. Thank you ladies.
