Great experience. Came here in the ambulance because I had a seizure. Paramedics were super friendly, and helped me get to the hospital without further injury. The Emergency Department was very modern, and always was kept clean for the duration of my visit. Dr Mike was great, and was very helpful in diagnosing my issue.

I Birthed my first baby in PLH in April 2022. On reading reviews before; I got worried for one second but the nurses ; the staff ; the doctors literally all of them were absolutely kind and godly to me! Maternity n Triage nurses were absolutely amazing. Forever grateful

I gave birth for the second time at peter lougheed. Incredible experiences. Nurses of unit 31 are angels. Thank you to labour & delivery nurse Nikki for making everyone respect my birth plan. Thank you for being gentle and reassuring. Thank you for taking all my 3rd C-section in pictures. I finally have memories for life. Dream come true
And a special thank you for nurse Leah.
She was so human, caring and attentive to my needs and those of the baby. Very grateful. She was amazing.

Had a great experience in maternity ward. Amazing doctors and nurses. I got alot of support from the staff for those 3 days.
Loved the service.

Emergency Ward:
Nurses are rude. Doctors gossip around with co-workers, dont care if the patients are screaming in pain, they tend to make patients wait longer.
Canada's tax money is going in wain.
Not enough beds for patients.
I would never recommend anyone to go in this hospital and put ur life on threat.
08 March 2023 16:05
I arrived at the hospital with my 5 years old daughter at 730 pm for a head injury, was asked not to eat until she saw a doctor now its 2am still waiting to see a doctor. Kid is hungry and crying.
01 March 2023 19:07
DO NOT GO TO THIS EMERGENCY CENTER, THIS IS THE WORST PLACE TO NEED TREATMENT. GO TO FOOTHILLS, ROCKY VIEW, OR EVEN DOWNTOWN. THE NURSES IN TRIAGE DON'T CARE AND THINK IT IS FUNNY IF YOU HAVE TO WAIT 6+ HOURS. THESE SO CALLED NURSES NEED TO BE FIRED. AHS NEEDS TO REVIEW THIS EMERGENCY CENTER AS IT DOES NOT HAVE THE BEST CARE FOR THE PATIENT IN MIND

Peter Lougheed Hospital Vascular unit. Charge Nurse Melissa was the most unprofessional and disrespectful person I have ever met. Through a difficult conversation telling my father he needed to move to a different unit (for the 3rd time) she showed no compassion only to give out threats and how if we didn’t do as she instructed … she threatened things were going to get ugly and we would face consequences! What? She kept announcing that she was the Charge nurse… told us to pack up our things and move quickly. We asked if she could call to the new unit to ensure a lower bed was available to ensure the safety of my 78 year old father (as he had fell out of their higher mattress) she refused to call the unit and kept saying, regardless of what mattress they have, you are moving out now. …and kept giving out her threats. Absolutely unacceptable!
24 January 2023 15:15
Insane - Been here since 4 pm it is now 11: 22 no blood work, and no doctor. In a hospital "room" made of cardboard. Yeeesh!
23 January 2023 6:42
If I could give 0 stars I would. Absolutely horrendous ER nurses. One was nice, the rest were horrible. Would never recommend coming here if you actually need help.
21 January 2023 11:24
Had my first baby a couple days ago. My nurse Haley was the most fantastic human ever! She went above and beyond her job for 15 hours. She advocate for everything I wanted and I was able to have a natural birth and helped in every single way! I literally couldn't have done it without her
18 January 2023 21:47
I hope all staff need good teaching and also learn how to assist patient asap because they are suffering through pain and they are just talking and laughing with each other.when you ask for help they gonna say it’s gonna take moment and they gonna come after 30 minutes. Even u ask for water its gonna take 10 minutes such a unprofessional and irresponsible staff.
Lol really it feels like they like to see people in pain
17 January 2023 4:48
The maternity ward is not favorable.
The staff are friendly, but don't even both with an induction here. If you are in active labour they still make you wait in the waiting room for a significant amount of time before taking your information and then eventually admitting you from what i seen. South health is so much better if you can go there! Much better communication!
Here, you will wait until your water breaks anyways, even if on an induction list. You aren't priority for induction unless maybe 41 weeks and 3 days. Honestly I don't even know if they'd care then either. If they keep you here, then you are last on their list. If you are kept because you are on alert watch and wait too long, then it is blamed that you shouldn't have been told to stay on watch by the previous doctor on call. They will go hours and hours without communication, especially overnight unless you bug them at the desk. If they send you home, then they won't call you because even if you are on an induction list you are not priority in any form. I've been here for two days and they still refuse to prioritize me even passed my due date. The triage support person chairs are worse than the waiting room chairs. The bathrooms are dirty with blood and not always stocked.
Very very very disappointed in the care here compared to what I've experience at south health campus.
30 December 2022 3:21
Been in the ER for 7h no help. People are just leaving. Saw couple who waited more the 8h to get stitches was bleeding because had bad cut in her hand they just left without anyhelp. Also front desk staff was the rude person to all the people.
16 December 2022 8:18
If possible i can give 0 star to this hospital cause emergency department is so worst and they don't care about your health 13 hours is waiting time so bad experience with them even nurses can help you those are really very rude to patients seriously government is behaving with patients like this way like we are not humans
28 November 2022 5:35
Went in with a possible broken wrist from a slip on the first snow day expecting pretty bad wait times, but I was out with my arm in a cast within 2 hours. Very efficient, capable and pleasant staff
27 November 2022 12:22
Thank you to all the doctor’s and nurse’s and all the staff who help my wife for her delivery lastweek, you guy’s are pretty amazing and I appreciate each everyone one of you, God bless
27 November 2022 2:10
I brought my dad to PLC emergency after a fall. Every single employee we encountered was professional, courteous, and incredibly helpful to us as we navigated the system. My dad has advanced dementia and I couldn't have got through this visit without the workers at PLC going the extra mile. Thank you.
23 November 2022 22:30
I know there is a lot of people that are experiencing emergencies and i completely understand that.but i feel like that they need to hire more staff so everyone can be seen in a reasonable amount of time.waiting five hours is a bit much especially when you are in pain or sick or have children that experiencing these things. SOME of the people in triage are very snappy and rude as well does not feel welcoming at all.
27 October 2022 15:00
I know it's always long wait time but honestly I m so thankful to staff for their hard work specially today I took my son for his hand inquiry and lady her name is Martine Porter who just took my son back to checking area from x ray room she is amazing in talking and her friendly behavior and at the same time the lady who took my son for x ray she was very polite too. Thanks to all the staff for taking care of us. God bless you all.
24 October 2022 21:30
The worst hospital ever to exist. My Dad went to the emergency at PLC because he had Cancer, and nurse tries to stick an Iv and take his blood pressure at the same time using the same arm. The staff were extremely rude to my mom when she asked for help with my sick dad. I ended up going to the PLC emergency for my own mental issues, and I get told by the nurse that I cannot smile. If you're in need of any medical care I highly recommend that you take your service to another hospital if possible.
16 October 2022 21:56
Absolutely the worst hospital in Calgary. An 87 year old friend of mine was there for 5 weeks and they showered him ONCE! They are only there to get the paycheck and then clock out. It' s terrible and they should be ashamed of themselves. I wouldn't even post a 1 out of 5 if I didn't have to for it to go through.
06 September 2022 9:24
I thought doctors were helping during the pandemic but they are not. So I was in the hospital at 9 pm at night and got my turn at 4 am. They didn’t even offer a child a BANDAGE people couldn't breathe and there was only 2 doctors there and they don’t care about you and your life. If you call for an ambulance they will take you to the seating area and wait just like us. A man couldn’t breathe and the doctor said it is ok just go and sit down you look fine. Even the police didn’t do anything. I wish I can ban the place because technically Peter Lougheed Centre doesn’t have a EMERGENCY area. No point going in emergency and waste of time and getting disrespected by the staff there.
NEVER COMING BACK HERE AGAIN
02 September 2022 12:15
The staff in the cast clinic are amazing! ALL of them, unit clerks, X-ray tech, nurses even the porter’s all of them. It was calm and welcoming. The waiting room was overflowing and the wait was extremely long…. My appointment was at 11 we left at 2: 45. However the staff was so incredible, I was called in 3 separate times, first to have my splint from surgery removed then for my X-ray and finally to see the dr and get my new cast and every time I felt that I had their full attention, I never felt rushed or as if I was an inconvenience. The Dr listened to my concerns and answered my questions with detail. One of the best hospital experiences I’ve ever had. Good Job you all made my situation a little less stressful. So appreciated

I delivered my baby here. Initially I went in with my husband to get checked out for irregular cramping while pregnant before being full term and found out I was going to have my baby that night.

I didn’t have to wait long in maternity ward triage. Checked in with reception, had a quick meeting with a nurse and then was admitted into a room for monitoring, then had a doctor visit me to explain what was happening - all within 30 minutes or so. Eventually, I was given a room in labour & delivery and my baby arrived roughly 4 hours later.

I was happy with the care I received from all of the nurses and doctors in labour & delivery, post partum and NICU. I was in a room for two nights and had some really great postpartum nurses who really looked after me. We’re especially grateful for everything that the NICU nurses and doctors did for our preemie baby - they were very kind and friendly, and I felt safe leaving my baby in their care. Thanks to them, my baby only needed to stay 3 nights and he was able to come home with us. Docs and nurses ensured he got all tests done and that we received all the necessary education before our baby was discharged. We basically received a crash course in newborn care from the awesome nurses here: breastfeeding, changing a diaper, baths, feeding…. I felt much more ready to welcome our baby home early after receiving all the education from the awesome group of nurses.

Bonus is that parking fees are very reasonable and you can also get a weekly pass for ~$40. Compared to some other hospitals, this is much lower cost and not as busy (both Rockyview and Foothills can get really busy and parking is $$$)

Happy with our decision to have our baby here, not a complaint about our stay or the care we received.
25 November 2021 1:51
I want to ensure you that I do not intend to paint all staff here with the same brush.
"Screening supervisor" and most nurses sit around chatting and get quite snarky when you disrupt their gossip to ask simple questions.
20 November 2021 15:42
Came in last Sunday for what I thought to be ulcer pain or reflux, but from my description of the pain and several exams later (that obviously takes time) the diagnosis was gallstones, and they were starting an infection in my gallbladder. Only solution surgery, the surgeon wouldn't let me go home, they sent me to a room and put my surgery on call for the next day, 11: 11 a.m. (magical number by the way) the nurse tells me I'm going to the OR, at 4 pm I open my eyes I was done. Dr. Debru and his team did a fantastic job, literally saving my life in a blink of an eye. Everybody, and I mean it, has been nice to me, I have nothing but gratitude for the great people that work here.
01 November 2021 23:02
Broke my femur in 3 spots and came by ambulance. ER staff were amazing, social worker helped me navigate my way through many things (incredible lady). Dr. KUBIK put me back together and the staff on unit 52 were more than just nurses, OT and Physio. These folks gave that extra to make me feel less alone and scared. I cannot say enough about them.
28 October 2021 20:22
My all 4 of my grandparents went here and never made it out each time they would milk it and they wouldn’t tell us anything until they were close to dying they should start working on telling family’s if there loved ones health is getting bad
17 October 2021 11:57
The nurses and Drs in the tent area were amazing. However triage nurse Lisa rolled her eyes when I was asking questions. This put a negative spin on my experience. I am very dissatisfied with the way she treated me and I am sure I am not the first person to be subject to her bad attitude.
15 October 2021 4:44
The only reason why you would go here is if the ambulance took you and you had no choice.even then if you could jump out of the ambulance do so and run as far away from this place.i have been to many 3rd world countries and some of them beat this so called hospital in service and response times. YOU SHOUD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELFVES.
08 October 2021 17:37
I went there on Tuesday September 14 at 9 pm it said 1.5 hours wait the waiting room wasn't even busy. Also when you checked in you aren't Social distancing especially when you go check in. Also they let some patients walked around he no masks on. After waiting for 2 hours I asked How much longer the triangle nurse said 2 to 3 hours. When there were maybe10 people in the waiting room. So checked myself out for I wasn't going to wait another 2 to 3 hours to see a doctor They aren't a very clean emergency waiting room.
07 October 2021 6:03
I haven’t been here but have had to call them to ask a few questions about what services they had available at that day as I needed a blood test. The operator was extremely rude and dismissive and just seemed like they wanted to hang up as soon as they could. I called 811 instead and they were more helpful.
03 October 2021 17:49
After showing up at 3am with an emergency and being asked to wait for a few hours, regular hospital garbage, I proceeded to wait while my significant other went into emergency. After being there til 6am, I was met with unproffessional staff, it's not hard when someone says hey there, to say "hey can you give me a minute" no instead I was met with we're busy sir, for a public service where all their income is from tax dollars from people like me and my SO you might think someone in the industry of helping people might be a little more friendly and professional but no, thanks for being absolutely useless alberta health care, you and you're useless staff.
02 October 2021 0:20
The most inhumane hospital in North America. The reception the nurses and the doctors are the worst in their field. They emotionaly abuse mental health patients and people with substance use disorders. When my buddy broke his leg the nurse threatened to call security if he didn't stop screaming. Hopefully people stop going there.
01 October 2021 5:20
Some of the nurses in the emergency department are really horrible. This one nurse filled my chart vitals that she didn’t even bothered to retake… she but the Blood pressure cuff on me and it red error. She never tried again and guessed my blood as 190/76 while my blood pressure was dropping really low. 92/70 with blurry vision and lightheaded. Please nurses don’t make things worse for the patients. That’s really sad.
22 September 2021 2:49
Was sharing a room with a terminally I'll cancer patient and I timed how long it took the nurses to answer his buzzer. 10 minutes later I went out and asked if they could hear the buzzer. Their excuse was they had just changed shift! This man was dying and had soiled himself yet the nurses couldn't afford him the dignity he deserved. Disgusting
That being said when rushed to hospital via ambulance the treatment was of a much higher standard. Now waiting in the emergency waiting room despite the letter from my doctor saying I was urgent. I hate this hospital and if I have a prolonged stay I will ask for a transfer. Can't believe there are so many negative comments yet nothing changes
17 September 2021 14:23
Worst hospital in Calgary, rudest most ignorant staff I ever seen in my life I don't know how these people have a job, especially "Kathleen in admitting" is one of the rudest, I don't know how she has a job! Please put her in some kind of program where she learns to respond to a question because she can't stop talking about her vacation in BC wat a joke, please fire her,!
15 September 2021 21:52
Very hard breathing went and told them twice that I have hard time breathing. Seems like they dont care. I have to tell down and cannot breath for them to check out. It's been almost 4 hours. One of the worst emergency ever
14 September 2021 14:14
Waited almost 8 hours just to be seen by a doctor for 2 minutes and was sent home in even more pain than before. Condescending staff as well, not only to me but to the other patients too.
14 September 2021 10:12
This was our first visit in this Hospital. “Dr. Paul Tourigny” without a doubt is the “BEST DOCTOR”
I have ever had. Nurses are exceptional. My son Kendrick is really sick because of constipation, he makes me feel that he really cares with my son and feel comfortable with him as my son doctor. He’s beautiful combination of professionalism and caring. He is very easy to speak with, listen thoughtfully and appears fully involved with the patient. He handle my son very well, I’m very happy. Thank you so much.
11 September 2021 17:59
Worst hospital in the Canada, very rude staff, zero respect as well as care for the patients. Don’t even know how to treat another human. All staff should send back to school to learn basic human ethics.
07 September 2021 19:53
The Emergency room nurses are probably the most ignorant people we've ever dealt with such rude people and probably the slowest moving department in the city if I could give a quarter of a star rating that would ever be a generous rating!
07 September 2021 17:51
Avoid emergency at all costs. You will be waiting forever. It’s also in the ghetto so lots of strange people showing up.
03 September 2021 19:15
In the middle of COVID situation I had to be hospitalised 2 times for a flair of my desease. I don't have anything to complain about the place. I had a incredible service. Perfect A+

In a other hand you need to be comprehensive of the staff and the service. With a crowded 4th wave of coronavirus I didn't get kicked out without reasons. The nursing team is wonderful and you will be ask to please put your mask. I want to thanks all the gastro/immunology team and specially the team of the unit 44 who made the best of a bad time for me. I never had to suffer and they are so friendly. When something isn't always at the best they realise it and you can tell they are truly doing everything with my care in mind.
30 August 2021 22:21
Spent some time in emergency many time over the years, staff is always above and beyond. Was recently in Emergency for chest pain and my nurse Nikki was AMAZING. Dr was fantastic and staying for 4 hours really wasn't so bad. Thank you to all Drs and Nurses out there for everything you do, especially at the Lougheed for putting up with me
19 August 2021 18:17
I've had two beautiful babies here with excellent experiences with all the staff. Everyone knows what they're doing and are kind and helpful. It's the people that make the experience great. Thank you!
10 August 2021 1:07
Today, July 20,2021, I visited the hematology clinic treatment room, I want to sincerely express my gratitude to registred nurse Miho for being empathetic, kind and considerate to me. This is such a rarity these days. I am very grateful to her for all the explanation about the procedure and patience with my requests, being humane and caring. All these 3 hours that I spent in the clinics passed quickly and unnoticed thanks to the attitude and big heart of Nurse Miho. She was very professional and gave me excellent service. It's so nice to see people who love their job and fulfill their obligations with dignity and responsibility. All team was great at Day Mrdicine " Treatment room"
Everyone was friendly and polite.
29 July 2021 14:26
Some staffs is nice but some is very rude. Those rude and not friendly staffs is not qualify to work in the hospital. The first day you decided to work and served our community, show us your professional attitude.
16 July 2021 10:28
What is the point in splitting the emergency room up in two (one isolation unit for covid, one for all other patients) when you are just going to mix all the patients (including ones without covid symptoms) in the pandemic response unit. They place you in a cubicle not more than 1 metre away from another patient, who probably has covid.
When asked if any covid positive patients were in the tent the nurse takes you to, she tells you "I'm not allowed to disclose that". Then the nurse stated "it's no different from the real world, covid is everywhere".

I get that it's a hospital, and the risk is there, but why extend the risk further by possibly placing immune compromised patients with covid positive patients?
28 June 2021 9:29
The worst bunch of nurses ever, Not a professional staff at all, a person is in pain and they make him wait 3 hours, I can see why so many people OD off pain meds bc they end up taking more as there pain gets worst
21 June 2021 19:17
Want to say a much needed thank you to the hardest working er nurses in the city! Putting up with all the drug seekers and covidiots! Thank you for showing up to work everyday!
20 June 2021 13:37
We had to get my mom an ambulance last night, the paramedics were amazing and thorough. When she got into the hospital, about 1: 45-2: 00 am, she waited until about 6am to see a doctor, wasn't given any food or water. The doctors and radiologist were extremely rude and not gentle at all. When she complained of pain from what they were doing, he responded with "why" and an eye roll. Very dissapointed in our medical system.
13 June 2021 21:39
Came in with EMS (who were also amazing) after having a seizure at home. Almost immediately received a bed in the ER. Didn't take long to receive a blood test and CT scan. Every nurse and doctor I interacted with were kind and friendly. Was in and out of Emergency within 5 hours. So grateful for their kind service on one of the worst days of my life!
