ANIMAL ABUSE!

I hate that they have the birds wing clipped.and the fact the fish are in such small bowls and aren’t even swimming. Update: they don’t allow minors in without parents and wouldn’t tell us why we weren’t messing anything up and all I did was walk in and look since I wanted to buy my cats and dog some toys and food for Christmas. Horrible place every they ABUSE ANIMALS!

Came here to quickly check out some prices and left with a good car food brand, pet tags & cool toys from a knowledgeable staff member named Kolten. This is a great pet land location, I’m a satisfied customer.

The store clerk was mean and very disrespectful towards me and wouldn't sell me a Betta fish. He kicked me out of the store threatening to call the police on me. So rude so disrespectful I wouldn't recommend this store for anyone to come here unless they wanna get kicked out

Great selection for all pet supplies. Staff is hit or miss with their knowledge on the products.

This small brown try to help but telling us that we don’t have to right size for are very small dog. When we had the right one, even had to show her to prove we had the right one. She still growing so she doesn’t need a tight. But didn’t help us with the other dog jacket.

Helpful staff, and good selection. Lost one star because their prices are marginally higher than most other stores.

I used to like going here for my favorite cat litter but now they dont seem to ever have it and only have expensive litters available I find the items are priced a bit higher than everywhere else especially on the fish but it is what it is

You have forever lost a customer. I am disgusted by your employees lack of empathy and knowledge. Without being asked Mansi decided to stop and let a customer know that she should not attempt to touch the cockatiels (that have been at this location for atleast a year). She said only conures and lovebirds are meant to be handled, that cockatiels are aggressive and bite. Not only has this location failed to show these birds any love, they have failed to train their staff any knowledge of birds. If the staff cared enough to show them care and love, these cockatiels would be as they usually are which is extremely loving and love to be held, these birds would not remain scared in their environment. You, Mansi, are the reason that birds are continuously given to rescues. I will be going further than this review over this matter

Petland never disappoints with their high-quality pet products and essentials available here. I often go here with my mom because she is used to buying necessary pet foods here. Me on the other hand would drive from one place to another to find more interesting pet products. She buys pet foods in bulk so I'm certain my mom had a nice time shopping here always.

Asked about dog harnesses as the one i had for my dog wasn’t fitting his needs anymore.the young employee that was helping me had no idea and showed me to a couple but none that i wanted.hung around for a little bit longer deciding if i wanted to just grab one & try it (also just letting my dog check out the birds and get a little exposure) and then the assistant manager came over and asked if she could help with anything.immediately found me exactly what i wanted and spent some time fitting the harness on my dog & making sure it worked.wonderful experience! Left feeling so happy:) and doggo was well loved!

Amazing Service.
I went in Wednesday this week to look at the ferrets, a young by the name Megan assisted me. She was very knowledgeable and helpful, we also discussed my dogs food allergies and she had amazing recommendations of what try to keep him at his best health condition. The young lady was able to assist me with all my needs. She also explained to me the benefits of joining and becoming a member. If you are going to this location and are looking for any kind of assistance or knowledge I highly recommend asking for Megan. She is a rockstar!

I went in the store a little while ago to get hay and food so i went to ask for help from a young woman and she gave me the worst glare. She led me to the wrong aisle and when I could not find the items, she then informed me that they were sold out. Finding that unrealistic, i looked around a little more and I finally found it. I also looked through the guinea pig pens just to check the little guys out and the cage was absolutely disgusting. I feel only horror for the guinea pigs living in. After seeing the guinea pigs i wanted to see the rest of the animals and the hamsters in the small cages looked like they were struggling, it was terrifying to see. Please train your employees better

Pointed out a betta fish that was on its last few legs so to speak, due to some pretty serious and extensive fin rot and the rep last night got hostile and defensive. Profiting off animals while neglecting them is incredibly unprofessional and cruel. I asked if they'd be willing to part with it so I could at least give it a chance as I doubt it will survive Petland's "quality care. " Was met with more hostility. The reaction I received lets me know that Petland knows they were in the wrong. I hope the fish is presently being cared for rather than left on the floor to die.

We got a comfy bed for our cat and he loves it. The high grade protein food really helped our cat with weight gain. They also have a great refill cat litter profuct which is a lot cbeaper than getting bags.

Not considerable or understandable or flexible due to the situation.
This happened on Dec 1st 2021 around 2 pm

I had my receipt from same day 3 hours ago (11 am), and my kid was with me, I asked if I can get a membership by return and repurchase, the store manager insist I have to go back home and get my purchased item in order to do so.

I understand they are concerned if refund me without actual product and I will just run away, bur seriously? I was there with my 4 years old kid stand right next to me!

All I need is return and repurchase and get a membership from something I purchase the same day 3 hours ago.

I've worked at other places and they would do that for the customer willingly! And I've done what for my customer too!

So I end up drive all the way back and bring the heavy item to the store and returned and refund and repurchased and got my member-card and carried it all the way back, the only good part is the other sales associate was being nice and helpful, thank you.

Didn't argue much with the store manager but still feeling disappointed about how they treat the customer and how much trust they have for their customer.
Maybe this is your policy to your customer but this is not nice.

I come here frequently for my pet needs. The store has a great selection, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and are willing to help out in anyway they can.

This store is very nice and has everything your pet will need. It has a variety of animals like budgees, guinea pigs and cats. It has food, toys and everything you need.

A big store! Lots of selection. I'll always have mixed feelings about businesses that sell parrots (which includes budgies). They're not a pet to impulse buy.

Nice store for pets and pet people. Caters to dogs, cats, and birds - with a bit of stuff for fish, reptiles, etc. Lots of products, great pet enthusiastic staff, and live animals (to talk to). One parrot found my wife so engrossing he fell right off his perch (no damage done). [I know what it's like, I fell for her, too. ]

The store was big and full of supplies, but was a bit understock on bird cages. We were on a rush, so my dad had a little complaint on the speed of service, but overall, once we had everything and bought our two little budgies, I can say that it was a great experience and a good place to adopt and buy supplies.
Toys are a bit expensive, but there are sales to cover for them.
I was a bit disappointed that they clipped their wings, though. One of my female budgies can fly perfectly now, but the other one has clipped wings that weren't so well done.
Hopefully they'll grow back.

The staff here are amazing! They are always friendly and accommodating when our kids just want to come in for a visit. This past weekend we stopped by to pick up our first pet for the kids, a little syrian hamster. Katie was awesome and very knowledgeable and took the time to explain care requirements and recommendations for appropriate food choices. Thanks Katie!

Buyer beware! If you are looking for feeder frozen rats the availability is shoddy at best!

The cat and dog items have never ever been an issue, and employees will help you with big bags if they are too heavy!

Love this store.pricey but it is a large store per sq ft and many live pets and a number of staff on site, prices reflect that. Staff are lovely, I always enjoy going there!

I like that they help adopt out rescues as well. Pets appear well treated and cared about.

Very clean store and always well stocked. Staff always greet you and ask if you need assistance. Good selection for kitties, especially my very old finicky ones They offer some high quality nibbles and kibbles. Great store, just be realistic that you will not find cheap bargains here, but I am willing to pay a little more for their quality and care.

I just bought my first ever snake. A beautiful ball python, and Ellis the employee who helped me was amazing. Super educated and answered all my questions. I highly recommend going here for all your reptile questions. They have a small inventory, however the information they give you is worth it. 10/10 service. My ball python is healthy and they even provided me his/her feeding log.

Oh I need to speak to the district manager pronto what happened at this location today should never happen to anyone.

Very Rude staff. Had an account with them, came back a week later and my account is "apparently no longer there" staff didnt care to help me or make a new one. Will be driving the extra bit to Pet Valu from now on.

Great place for pets. The workers try their best to educate you about the animals and are really helpful with suggestions. A lot of them are clearly knowledgeable at what they do. Prices can be a bit high but they will price match with other pet stores

Poor customer service. I asked for a 1 male and 2 female fish and got sent home with all males. After driving over 1.5 hours each way for these specific genders of fish. Not impressed: (

SO OVERPRICED. Don’t go here unless you want to pay at least 20% more than every other pet store in the city. Also the assistant manager is always a jerk.

Staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Great with special needs customers and very courteous of others needs and the needs and care of their animals are met with exceedingly high standards.

Super friendly and convenient place with good deals on pet food and litter. If you join their loyalty club you get some good discounts and it’s always nice to see the kitties from the humane society!

Called nearly every store in the city after my dogs food was abruptly discontinued. The woman over the phone was super polite and even checked all the expiry dates before putting some on hold for me. When I came into the store I was promptly approached by Kyle who was fantastic. He patiently listened to me freak out over the situation (not his fault or Petland’s) and offered potential options to switch over to within my preferred brand. He probably spent ten minutes with me going over ingredients and offering advice. As someone who works in retail, I was thoroughly impressed by his customer service skills. I don’t live near Capilano at all but I would definitely recommend this store for anyone in the area or anyone in a pinch. 10/10

Staff are always tremendously helpful and friendly. Recently helped my partner and I pick out a starter kit for our new bunny who we were taking home from them as well. Has also helped us with selecting good cat food in the past.

Everyone was friendly. They asked if I needed help and promptly left when I said no instead of standing around me awkwardly. I appreciated it.

I have been shopping here for over 30 years because it is my closest full service grocer. Selection is respectable. But I do find the staff to be meh. Some cashier's are wayyy too chatty while other long timers are just plain miserable - all the time. Would like to see more Canadian products. And please label the country of origin for your produce Oh yes, the bananas are always overripe. Yech.

The staff is always helpful and friendly. Plus I often am there when they are doing care for the animals and you can really see that they care for them. Lots of pets and sweet words.

Just stopped in for fish food, I'd say its what you expect from a pet store. Employees I ran in to seemed nice.

Knowledgeable staff and well stocked (for the most part) the only reason this isnt 5 stars is that, in the back where the fish are its hard to find an associate working there regularly.alot of times ill be looking for an associate and the only ones i can find are at the cashier desk: (maybe its just bad luck but overall super nice location.would recommend!

These employees are exceptional! They are friendly and always super happy to help us! We love this pet store especially because of the hands on experience we get to have with all the animals!

Full service grocery store including pharmacy bakery delicatessen and gas bar. Gas bar also sells lotto and tobacco products.

Honestly worst place ever. Got kicked out because one person didn’t like me. We were minding our own business looking at dog treats and looking at the birds when we got told to grab what we needed and leave. Very unsatisfied with pet land

Staff are so nice and knowledgeable about the best nutritional support for dogs. My girl is getting older and needs all the help she can get. Be a member! I saved about $20 on $100 today!
