The customer service here is terrible. I usually go to the manning crossing location and get so much help and great energy. Came in here and I couldn’t find the isle I was looking for, or anyone around to help. By the time I did a worker popped out of nowhere and sped walked past me and just said “closing soon”. Didn’t stop to give me a hand, nothing. When I went to pay I apologized for not realizing they closed at 7 pm and just got a “yeah” I understand wanting to go home, but my gosh.: (I just needed fish food and I still had 10 mins.
I have bought two seperate cockatiels from here, and I must say their new breeder (price difference between the two birds was very high) seems to raise nicer, kinder birds than the last one. My more recent guy from here has a leg band which shows me someone knows he exists and had registered him, which makes me feel good knowing this breeder is a bit more careful. As well, their adoptable cats seem to be well socialized, but they don't allow the revolving door of people petting them in order to not stress their animals, which I can appreciate! Thanks to Claude especially for being the main guy I see here for the last two years, but all staff are kind.
I enjoy the open concept for the small pets. I can pet a rabbit once a month when I stop in for my bird food without having to own one. Prices are always at par with competitors.
On Thursday evening, I was in the store and witnessed a manager being very condescending to an employee. She seemed to be doing well during a cat sale, the people involved were excited as they should be. But the poor cashier trying to ring them through was being continuously nit picked by the manager she had to call up to finish the sale. It was almost harassment as if she had no business being on the register. She looked very uncomfortable and I also felt uncomfortable for her.
A frustrating experience. Stopped off at this location to grab two budgies. Associate asks if we have any experience with birds and whether we have a habitat already. Told her that we've owned several birds and currently have a single budgie. Also told her that we have a full height corner enclosure with about four times the space they currently have over a dozen budgies living in.
When pressured to purchase additional accessories, I inform the young woman that we literally have everything single amenity a bird could want. She finally finds an item on her list that we don't have.an iodine block. Perfect, she marches us over to the iodine and I grab a pack. Anything to keep our little guys healthy. She then let's us know that the other dozen plus perches, swings, mirrors, sticks etc etc that we already own are inadequate. Our 6 varieties of bird feed aren't enough. We buy their chosen brand of mix, new mirrors, new identical long perch that we own and a few more bird toys. She stands there watching until we pick enough items to satisfy her checklist and off we go.
Twenty page contract reading next. Let her know during the 30 day warranty section of the mandatory contract reading (new truck purchase took less paperwork) that we live 500kms away and we're currently heading home (7: 20pm). I would not return to use the warranty so we can skip that. No, mandatory reading and it must be done in full. She reads on.for what feels like one eternity later (already spent 5 hours in a vehicle prior). My spouse comes in to use the washroom during this point, which of course is out of order due to "COVID-19". She leaves in frustration. I sign up and down and up and down a few more documents, listen to the rest of the speel and we're done!
After going to the back of the store, to have her manager sign off on my credentials, she returns. I messed up and had signed one of the several spots outside of the box on the adoption forms. Off she goes again after a quick correction of the paperwork.
$115.31 later I owned another two budgies and a few toys to throw in their drawer. Yes, the budgies occupy not only a full corner but they also own their own drawers.
Had we stayed over night in a hotel (which we debated doing as it was now quite late after our budgie adoption) and something terrible happened where we had to utilize our warranty. I would not be going back regardless. I would rather use my money as papers for their cage then return to do more paperwork. Beyond no chance will I return to this location. Last budgie we picked up in 15 mins, in and out. It's not like degenerates are forging documents to adopt budgies for fight rings.
First picture is of their big brothers. Who both know they can look but not touch!
My go to for pet stores.only place I can go to that has everything for all my pets.friendly and very helpful staff as always. I have brought alot of people there and evern they love the experience
If you're buying pet food, especially raw/frozen, be sure to check expiry dates. This store does not do a good job of checking the freshness of their stock.
Fairly large store, well laid out. Limited pet selection when we were there. 2 bunnies, birds, a couple of hamsters and 2 ferrets. Washroom was labelled staff only which I thought a little odd, for a destination store. Perhaps a Covid precaution. Friendly staff.

Overpriced for what they call “adoption”. What a sleazy way to pretend they care about animals. I love bird and brought 2 from them unfortunately, I have been a bird owner my whole life and have never seen birds in a glass box before. The birds obviously suffer from this. They don’t have strength to climb ones they are put in a cage and take longer to locate food and water. Mine have gone days without both. Luckily I’m hand feeding them.
Terrible place, I’ve been to a few pet land and seems this is the norm.birds placed in glass boxes!
Great selection of products. Floor is dirty, i usually come for fish products. I recently got a puppy and took him in and relized the floor eas quite dirty which concerned me when my puppy is licking everytjing.
Usually a great place. Probably some civil measures in place that are maybe a factor here but every time I go in now there is a line 8 miles long because they jnsist on only having one till open. Again, helpful staff nice location etc but slow. Maybe go on a day you have time to wait.
I have been to all the Petland’s but this location is my favourite. I am always greeted at the door or moments after I walk in, when adopting my first ferret a few months back I was assisted by Danielle who was extremely informational at ensuring I was going to be prepared for my new critter! She was very attentive to me; answered all my questions and even grabbed me a basket to put my product in. The company also offers a 30 day guarantee on their animals - very professional. I brought my young daughter in to adopt a hamster less then two weeks ago where we were assisted by their store manager Amanda. Amanda went above & beyond with the experience she created for my daughter and I, she listened to my eight year old and brought out every hamster she was possibly going to take home - after a conversation we decided a pair of guniea pigs would be more suitable and with that Amanda sent us home with a cage large enough for their entire life span; bedding & food as well as an assortment of chew toys. We will definitely be shopping here again!
Had an awesome visit at petland today:) Had tons of help with picking out my 6 new fish & their food & tons of information:) Such a welcoming place & happy friendly people & animals:) Absolutely love how the animals have open cages & we are able to pet & hang out with them. Will be going again.
I love the customer service at Petland. Every time I enter, someone greets me and says hi to my dogs. They always offer to help me find something or even carry my food bags out to my car. Great work team, keep it up!
Wonderful place to bring your pet to go shopping. The store is clean. There is a grooming service inside the store. There is also an area to host a special event or party.
I really enjoyed my visit. The aquarium such are very friendly and answered all of my questions about starting a shrimp tank and about aquatic plants. I found the merchandise a little bit difficult to navigate as the fish supplies were split over multiple aisles. Definitely will be back!
I was a very frequent customer at this location and with several staff changes it has become an unfriendly place to shop. I'm very disappointed. Trying to interact with the birds they had in store, we were told by a staff member to not touch the birds. Baby caique fell off her cage and my 10 year old grandson went to pick her up and she basically pushed passed him and replied I can get it. It may be awhile before I go back to this store.
Pretty much come here to pet the bunnies! The best when your having a bad day. Also come for dog food and certain treatos that they never have in stock, call ahead, but really just the bunnies.
I love pet stores, and the staff are always great at them.pet owners have the biggest heart and are the happiest people, however the prices here are insulting, will not return
Staff here are very helpful everytime we come in. For a new fish pet owner, the Manager has tons of knowledge about how to take good care of our fish. Highly recommended.
The staff lacks knowledge of the products they are selling & even lacked knowledge of where the items were placed in their store. Due to this they lost out on a $500 sale. What I will say is the staff is friendly.
Tell others I don't like this place I don't like Petland you're way too expensive the prices are there food specialty dog food for the same stuff you get at PetSmart for $20 cheaper a bag they don't care about the customer has to say or any input all the city as well. Your prices if you don't like it go somewhere else I was just told I hear no more than 10 minutes ago I didn't like it go somewhere else so I'm trying to find a food somewhere else about a big enough bag this by my little puppy for right now but let me tell you there's a lot of places that carry food around and I'll be looking have any more smart out there I'm not saying it just to be rude or don't care about the store but is that a places to shop that really care about what people have to see so I just want people to be aware but I'm a gentleman that tell stuff to the to the truth I'm not trying to downsize any store that's not my goal my goal is to see people some money and maybe they get enough of these comments about Petland they might decide to start changing the prices of their food May the other prices ever stuff they have in the store but don't take my word for it shop around customers you see what I'm saying
NOT IMPRESSED. Went to this location to purchase a ferret. The guy working the evening of Aug 3 was NOT handling the ferrets well, when I asked to see one. They were trying to escape when he opened the door to their cage, and he was very rough with them, shut the door on the ferrets feet a few times, and even went as far as throwing the ferrets into their litter box when they would try to get out. If this is how staff handles animals when a customer is watching, I question how they are handled when nobody is watching.
We were looking for an aquarium light and Petland had the only size in Edmonton. We went expecting little bit were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful staff who helped us cuddle hamsters, bunnies, birds and hedgehogs. The staff were gentle, kinds and knowledgeable.very appreciated.
Staff are helpful and very polite. How ever we found it to be expensive. I'm from Vancouver Island and prices there for the same product, I mean exact same product was cheaper even with the PST. WOW. When I asked why this was, I was told pricing is based on the region.
5 stars for satff and services. In term of fish, they do have a few good deals like BOGO on Friday. As well, for 1 type of fish, if you buy more than 6 there will be a great discount. Combine the BOGO and buying in a group of 6, you can save a lot. Store is very spacious and bright. Covenient location. Parking in front is very spacious as well. This location is also great to take your kids here as there are other aminals here (birds, cats.)
Dazzling Dogs South location is the only place I will bring my husky cross for grooming. He is so fantastic with her and she looks like a million bucks every time.
Nice place to meet cute pets but extremely stinky and unhygienic. They should understand that even though people live with pets but not everyone is comfortable to bad odours and poor ambiance.
